I was told to write three checks. One for $ 450 for her fee, one for $ 450 for the first month’s prorated rent and one for $ 900 for the security deposit. This last one for $ 900 I was told to date for 5÷1÷2008. Roberta said this way, I wouldn’t get hit with 3 checks at the same time.
Well this morning, both checks cleared causing my account to go negative and my bank to charge me over $ 100 in fees. I just called Roberta to try and fix this mess, since it was her who told me how this would happen, and she all but hung up on me, saying it wasn’t her problem and to call my landlord. Guess she got her money and didn’t care about me or my problems anymore.
OK I will be calling my landlord, but he is an elderly gentleman who I assume she speaks with more frequently than me and I had hoped that she would help me with this since technically, although my landlord did cash the check, this is her fault. If she did not point out the date, or discuss this with him prior to telling me this was ok for me to do, then why was I told to do it? If I had just expected both checks to be cashed at the same time, I would have made sure the money was in the account. This leads me to believe she just told me this, didn’t mention it to him, and he had no knowledge of it and cashed the check.
As of right now, this has still not been resolved and my account is being hit left and right with fees. I have contacted the owner of the company and made a complaint, as well as my bank and my landlord. I would avoid this company and their agents at all costs just to avoid the headache of this.
