Do not get the banana split unless you can eat it in 30 seconds. It was big but it was pure liquid and just leaked out the bottom of the container.

The beachfront location was awesome but not the service of the restaurant. The guy who took the order went off to make my 5 dollarchocolate shake and an older guy with a grumpy look came to the window asking what I ordered. He heard half of what I said and told me the wrong amount. He should have let the younger guy settle my bill. I was annoyed by his unfriendly approach to a customer. The chocolate shake was definitely not worth the money with the sticky liquid dripping outside the paper cup. It was less tasty than McDonald’s. Green chili burger, fish and chips, chili cheese fries, there were all ‘ho hum’.

Can’t comment on food cause I didn’t get any. Called ahead of time to make sure they were open, and was assured they would be til 6:30pm. Arrived at 6 exactly and was told the grill was off cause he thought I wasn’t coming. Huhhh??? I CALLED IN! And the fact that he told me they would stay open. So zero star for service!

Meh. Friendly staff, but the soft serve was really soft and the chocolate dip was majorly waxey.

My husband and I have been coming here since we were dating. I always get a frozen banana and he always gets the balboa bar, then we share. They are both delicious! It’s right on the beach and the service is always quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend grabbing a quick meal/​snack here if you’re hanging out on the beach.

The Balboa bar is excellent and so are their fries and their sundae.
The staff was friendly and speedy in serving us and made us feel at home. It was defiantly a good experience and we will be coming back again.

This place has delicious soft serve ice cream! I highly recommend getting a dipped cone with chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. It is conveniently located right by the Newport pier. Perfect stop to grab a refreshing ice cream cone.

This was our «go to» place while on vacation a week in Newport Beach. When you are planning to be on the beach all day you don’t necessarily want to deal with waiting for a table in a restaurant. They only have a walk up window and have your food ready in about 7 – 10 minutes. My family LOVED the chili cheese fries. Both chicken sandwiches are very good too. The prices are some of the most reasonable I have seen.

Going to the beach is fun, but not when looking for inexpensive places other than fast food chains. My friend and I spent about an hour walking around the area til we settled on here.
They have a menu with the usual you’d find at a snack bar. Burgers, sandwiches, fries, ice cream, things like that.
I got the chicken tenders with fries and a banana split to share. Total was 10 $.
My only complaint was the wait. Yep, I know it takes a while to cook, but by the time I had received it and went to eat my half of the split, the ice cream was melted. Maybe they should serve the ice cream after the food is cooked for the order? Just an idea.
The food tasted great however! And it was pretty filling for the price.
I’ll definitely go here again when I’m in the area and only have a few dollars to spend.

The perfect soft served cone. Icy texture of soft serve covered in soft crumbles of oreo cookie all for a reasonable beach location-​inflated price of $ 2.50 near the Newport pier. Lightly sweet and infused with vanilla, this soft serve beats all other soft serves you may have tried before (Ikea’s is too soft and melts too fast, McDonald’s is the same way).
I haven’t tried the other items though, but their prices are cheaper than the other places that offer beach junk food (chili cheese fries, nachos, frozen banana etc.)

Got a frozen chocolate covered banana with the works and it hit the spot on a sunny day at the beach. Way accessible for a quick meal while while enjoying the beach atmosphere.

Hey! They have REALLY good shoe-​string crispy french fries!
Hunnie Bunnie and I need some food. Well, I needed some food. She wasn’t quite hungry yet. I ordered a cheeseburger and some fries with a side of cheese sauce. My burger came with thousand island dressing, tomato, pickle, and lettuce and cheese. It was good. The fries were plentiful, dumped all in the brown paper bag with a side of cheese sauce I wanted. The fries were so crispy and golden and delicious! Nom nom nom!
I also got a kid sized chocolate dipped cone that was wonderful too! MMMM Goood~!
The prices aren’t outrageous either!

I had just spent the day at this beach with my family, and we were hungry. I saw a hot dog/​corn dog place about a block from where we were. My wife and I were unenthused about the option but headed towards it none the less. I see what looks to be a surf shop out of the corner of my eye, and it advertises burgers, snacks… Well she perked up, and we headed for the store front. That’s when I noticed they had food from our corner of the world. What’s this, a N.M. green chili burger? The owner was born in my home town. Bizarre? Yes! Delicious? Yes! I walked away with food and drinks for three at around $ 16.00. We were all satisfied, and enjoyed the friendly customer service. This place is right by the pier, and right by the public restrooms. 5 stars!

How can you not enjoy some beach food at the beach? Plenty of benches close by, and a nice little menu. This is not a sit down restaurant — it is a beach shack. Come and enjoy it for what it is!
One of those little gems that allows you to hand the kids some cash and tell them to have at it, while you are chilling on your beach blanket with a book.
Eat some junk food, and enjoy a day at the beach.

This place is the worst. My boyfriend and I wanted ice cream and we saw a kid get soft serve. It looked amazing so we ordered vanilla soft serve ice cream in a cup with rainbow sprinkles. We get it and I notice that there are peanuts on the top of the ice cream (mixed in with the sprinkles). My boyfriend is VERY allergic to peanuts so I take a bite of the ice cream first and immediately bite into a peanut!!! Thank god I ate it first or my boyfriends throat could have swollen up.
We take the ice cream back and my boyfriend tells the guy that there is peanuts and that he is highly allergic. The guy tells us that all of the toppings get mixed with each other so there is probably peanuts in all of the toppings!!! We told the guy how wrong that was and he gave us a new ice cream cup with WAY less ice cream. I guess he thought we were annoying???
Be careful of this place if you are allergic to nuts!

Here’s my experience at Pipeline. You have to walk past the public restrooms to locate it. It faces the beach, with quite a few benches and tables across from it. It is the cheapest eat you will find. Cheeseburgers are $ 4.50, onion rings and fries are about $ 3. Burgers are ok, but onion rings are generously portioned and yummy! D got a soft serve with sprinkles and waffle cone, $ 4.
Good deal. Simple meal.

I’ve only had the soft serve cones here, but the menu’s summertime fare – burgers and dogs – looks mouth-​watering. My girlfriend and I will ride our bikes down from the Huntington Beach Pier to the Newport Beach Pier and back (about 14 total miles along the beach) for this cool dessert.
I know this review sounds simple… Maybe it’s the sunshine, or the beach, or the people, or the ride. Maybe it’s combinations of each. Nevertheless, a cone from Pipeline’s makes the day even that much better. :)

Went to this place on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Ordered a burger not on the menu called a «Pipeline Pounder». It was a triple cheese with everything on it including real live ligite New Mexico green chili. The flavor was amazing. The crust from the griddle on the patties was perfect. I even tried to buy the griddle on the spot. Go hungry because it was big. You won’t be disappointed and neither will your taste buds!

I LOVE PIPELINE!!! Their chicken sandwich is AMAZING! I have never seen my boyfriend eat as fast as he did when he was eating his TWO chicken sandwiches. I was lucky to get a bite! They have a great selection of ice cream, and flavors for their shaved ice!
Jerry (the owner) is awesome. Needless to say, this place is great!

5÷30÷11 given that it’s beach front I guess the location is good but at $ 2.50 for a dipped cone I hope it’s got some gold sprinkles in it cuz this is the most pricey soft serve cone ever!
We tried the chocolate dipped vanilla and strawberry flavors… they were pretty good. but the cones were pretty small… They weren’t bad but they weren’t the greatest.
