Newport Diagnostic Center

I had an brain scan yesterday at Newport Diagnostic. I was extremely anxiety ridden showing up and not sure how I would get through the procedure. I was greeted by the most amazing technician named Benjamin. He walked me through the process step by step with great humor and a beautiful and endearing personality. I thankfully get sedated due to being claustrophobic but this too causes a host of stress with the IV. Benjamin fashion… handled putting in my IV the first time and no pain. I’m a hard stick and he did it without any pain… WHAT! There is something to be said for awesome bedside manner and Benjamin is the absolute best! Newport Diagnostic is lucky to have him.

Newport Diagnostic Center is top notch! I had to have an MRI and have been having complete anxiety about it since I scheduled it. I am extremely claustrophobic so the thought of having to get one terrified me. From the moment I walked in, Lydia at the front desk was kind, caring and reassuring. The MRI tech, Benjamin was also wonderful and helped ease my mind and fear completely. He made me feel completely comfortable and walked me through everything! They play Pandora Radio through the head phones, talk to you after every segment and give you a device to squeeze incase you need to get a hold of the tech during the process. I highly recommend NDC to anyone!

I would not come here. The front desk staff completely miss-​advised me, and I ended up with a $ 500 charge that I was promised would be covered by my insurance, as she told me she called to confirm before I made the appointment. The x-​ray technician wreaked of cigarettes, and kept messing up on the x-​rays so with my hurt back, I had to bend in various positions many extra times due to her errors.

The people at Newport Diag. are amazing… they work so hard, they’re so interested in great customer service, always helping us out, going to bat on our insurance, getting us timely records, etc. They really try to accomodate you and the technicians are great, too. Wonderful staff in medical records! Good people. good job.

Let’s face it, no one loves to get mammograms and ultrasounds. Dr. Karen Reuss and the staff at NDC are the best! Debbie at the front desk is amazing! She navigates your appointment with ease and is so friendly. The breast techs are kind, and the officer is very patient centered. I have only had to wait for minutes to be seen and discuss results. Dr. Karen Reus took over for Dr. Frye and is outstanding. Parking is free with validation.

Clean, incredibly modern and super awesome staff. They made my MRI super comfortable even with the loud noises :)
They give you super awesome ear buds, play your favorite music and let you zone out. I normally get super claustrophic but I didnt feel that way at all during my brain, neck and spine scan. I would HIGHLY recommend!

In the past 2 weeks, I’ve had testing done at this facility… And couldn’t be more pleased! Even though it’s 30 mins away, it’s well worth the drive.
The Staff, Techs (Peggy & Nicole) & Dr. Holtz are all wonderful, friendly & put your mind at ease when you’re there for health issues.
In addition, NBD is simply beautiful, clean, with comfortable & modern décor. Major plus is FULL validation for gated parking. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back if need be!

Always professional and nice whether in the MRI Department or Mammogram Department. Feel like I am in good hands. I drive 30 minutes to go to this facility even though there are closer ones to where I live. That is my choice since I trust them.

My OB would not permit me to even get an ultrasound last year while I was pregnant, so when I went in last month, it had been two years since I had gotten a scan, I had loaded my body with 9 months of hormones, and I was knocking on 40’s door. And, as if that wasn’t bad enough, the doctor who usually sees me, Dr. Frye, had moved to Florida. She was wonderful, so wonderful that I had followed her from the other place, but I was not about to follow her all the way down to Florida, so I was left to get to know a new doctor, Dr. Karen Reuss.
And she was awesome.
But first, some tips on how to deal with this annual happiness roadblock:
1. They will not see you without a referral from your doctor. Eh, you were due for a well-​woman exam, anyway.
2. Avocado is not only a creamy, delicious fruit rich in omega 3s; it is a horrible hard-​to-​find labyrinth off of San Joaquin Hills Road that requires a u-​turn to enter.
3. They validate parking, so take your ticket.
4. Bring pajama bottoms. It made my appointment that much more bearable.
5. Bring something to read. You will be in and out of the waiting room a few times.
Everyone was fantastic, from the mammogram and ultrasound technicians, to Dr. Reuss, whose approach is not unlike that of my beloved Dr. Frye. Should anything go wrong in the future, I am completely confident that I will be under the best quality of care. The only suggestion I might make is to put someone on the phone who is a little less abrupt. The first step in this annual dance is making that phone call, and it’s hard and scary, so a little levity on the other end of the line would be appreciated.
So, that’s my review. Now be strong and go book that appointment, sister. You are in good hands.

Awesome office with friendly staff. I was really unsure of what to think due to the tone of the person when i made my appointment, so i was kind of expecting the worst. The staff here is great, very friendly front desk staff, on both sides of the building, and the tech/​specialist who took me in was great.
She was very friendly and through and made sure to go the extra mile to make sure that everything went smoothly with my appointment. There were a few hiccups with the paperwork and diaganoiss codes from my doctors side but she clarified and fixed everything for me.
Over all great office and i’d happily go here again.

After reading all the reviews I decided to give this center a try. I realized that most deducted stars from the previous reviews are resulted from poor front desk experience that some people had experienced and not the medical staff. So, I am here to say that my experience was pretty similar to that of those people who got insensitive front staff on the first interaction with the center. But, once I passed the initial step everything else was great, from the lady who helped me with preparation for my test to the doctor and her assistants, they are all amazing. I got the medical care and proper attention that I needed and I am more than satisfied with the overall experience.

I have gone to Newport Diagnostic Center for several years now for my regular mammograms. When a new density showed up in December ’14, I went back in for more films and an Ultrasound. When DCIS and IDC was discovered, Dr. Karen Reuss and the staff were SO kind and supportive of me. I subsequently went back in for two biopsies and an MRI. EVERYONE that has been involved in these tests was extremely compassionate and friendly. Dr. Reuss even gave me her private cell number and told me to contact her at any time, and to keep her posted on my progress. I took her up on her offer as needed (NOT abusing it) and she always responded wonderfully. She also referred me to an excellent breast surgeon (Dr. Michele Carpenter_​who I will be seeing later this month. I called just now to get all of my records sent to the surgeons office, got someone right away, and they were helpful. I would have given Newport Diagnostic 5 stars, however, there is someone who occasionally answers the phone there (for scheduling appointments) who is a bit brusque and a little put offish. But in the office, in person, everyone has been very pleasant.

If i could give a worse score i would. NDC failed to update my billing information during my visit and has been sending my bill to the wrong address for a year without my knowledge. So instead of calling me to rectify this problem they sent my file to a collections agency. Really? Also during my visit they set me up for a left knees scan when i was there for a right hip scan! what is going on??? They are unorganized and over priced. I will never ever use them again and i will advise my friends and family to do the same.

I am extremely disappointed in the treatment my mom has received at this facility in the last 24 hours. My mom has had breast cancer three times. Her doctor found «something» and rushed an MRI for her at this facility.
My mom new from the beginning that this place was a mistake. They couldn’t locate her appointment and then said her insurance was cancelled (when it wasn’t). She came back three hours later and paid 1K out of pocket.
Her results were to be read by the radiologist between 12 and 1 today. Needless to say, her order marked STAT wasn’t read.
Shame on you for adding extra worry to my mom. She can do without the pretentious attitude of your office and will not be returning. Please, get your act together.
If you’re dealing with a serious medical emergency, this is NOT the place for you.

Waited one hour and 15 minutes for routine mammogram. Wasn’t notified of their delays so lost my next appt. Yes they make appt 15 min earlier for slotted time. Debated about whether to leave but didn’t want to go through this again. Needs better appt management process.

This «facility» ownership and doctor referral is unethical and a SCAM. Dr. Weinstein of CalOrtho referred me to this facility and I was told by his scheduler that I had to complete the procedure immediately– in two days time! Not enough time to call my insurance and sort out the details. The «facility» told me my payment portion was only about $ 85.00 so I was comfortable proceeding. Turns out the «facility» only bills for the technician’s services. Then Dr. Weinstein actually turns out to be the billing «facility and reader» and thus billed me for $ 2000.00!!! He, his assistant, nor the «facility» ever bothered to explain the ownership/​connection to the facility, or the unethical, and EXORBITANT charges, or anything else! Won’t EVER go back to Cal Ortho of Newport Beach or this MRI facility again!

Previous reviews are correct when they say this place’s phone services are a pain. Every time I had a correspondence with this place by phone it’s been automated; didn’t matter if I was calling or if they were calling to confirm an appointment.
That being said, the staff and technician I had here were really nice. At first the lady at the front looked at me a little weird because I was in for an ultrasound (understandable as most people who would need one are women), but that just made for a light-​hearted encounter. The ultrasound technician was very friendly and professional.
Not much more to say! This place is pretty good once you get in the door.

I just got back from here, and I don’t really have any basis for comparison, so I’ll just describe my experience.
I got the description of services (is that what you call it?) from my insurance company in the mail a couple of hours before my procedure. I don’t think that it was necessary to have in hand for my appointment, though.
When validating my patient information on the computer screen, I noticed that my appointment was entered for 2:45. They told me 2:30. Clever!
The technician was very professional and nice. The whole procedure took about five minutes.
I asked the receptionist if they had a patient portal that I could access. A look of fear crossed her face for a second, then she told me that I could access it via their website. Well, I just tried, and it is not a patient portal. They do have some information for patients on there, though.
They validate parking, and I didn’t even have to ask!
I just emailed them (of course, I had to look up their email address format) to see if they actually do have a patient portal. I’m not very optimistic.
They said that my doctor will get the results in two days.
Remember: we’ll only get patient-​centered care if we demand it. We’re all in this together!

Making appointments is a nightmare

I go here yearly for a mamogram and all the ladies are so friendly, efficient and very nice. I use to dread my exams at another place I went to because the technician was stone faced and without an ounce of warmth. The ladies here make you feel welcome and I am sure they are sensitive to the fact that everyone comes in with some anxiety. I actually look forward to my appointment and always have a very pleasant experience. Kudos to the ladies and their well caring nature.
