Bari Studio

I was really looking forward to this workout. I am on Class Pass and was told this latest fitness trend was a great option for cardio workout and fun! This part is true but it’s also important how a studio makes a person feel when they visit.
I came in about 5 minutes early and was greeted by someone at the front desk. They asked my name and I met the instructor. And that was the end of the interaction. No one offered a heart monitor. ONE correction in the intro class, which seemed strange, considering it was the first time for everyone except for one person. Such a let down.
I will say this is a very trendy spot and I honestly felt that since I didn’t meet their «profile» (mid 50’s, good shape but certainly not a typical Newport resident) they didn’t go out of their way.

Bari will make you sore from muscles you never knew existed! The studio is SO welcoming and the instructors are very encouraging. I sweat in this class like no other workout. I LOVE Bari Micro… A great class to mix up your weekly routine. Still have to give some of the other classes a try :) You really won’t know what you are missing until you go.

I absolutely love this place! The first time I heard about it was during the Unilocal’s Fit club 2015. I was able to attend that event, where Kara showed us the works and what Bari was all about. I really enjoyed my class with her, so some months later I tried another class, a Bari Hybrid class which was also instructed by Kara.
I clearly didn’t know what I was doing compared to the other girls, but that didn’t stop Kara from being so encouraging and keeping us all hyped up. Unlike Barre, which was what I originally thought, this would be like, Bari uses a mix of martial arts, trampoling, dancing, and high intensity movements to achieve optimal cardiovascular and strength exercise. It’s low and high impact and definitely gives you a sweat! It makes exercise fun for those of you despise going to the gym. Kara’s music pumps you up big time and makes you just want to dance for the hell of it. She does a great job of correcting your form without making you feel dumb or putting you on the spot and her sweet personality really motivates you to keep going despite how exhausted you are during the movements.
You can rent heart rate monitors too if you’d like to track your calorie burn. They have water fountains there if you need water for your water bottles, though breaks are not frequent. haha.
The only disappointment with Bari is the high prices for membership. Being an exercised based out of New York City and having only one studio in Orange County (of course in Newport Beach), this exercise routine will set you back $ 425 a month for unlimited classes, $ 285 a month to go 3 times per week, $ 230 per month to go twice a week, or $ 30 for a drop-​in class. They also have class packages available. If it’s feasible for you, try a class for free and sign up!

I read about this facility in the Newport Beach Independent and decided to try it out. I took an introductory class and the instructor was very helpful and hands on making sure that I did the exercises correctly. The studio has mood lighting and you wear cardio heart monitors so you can watch your heart rate on the screen. The class is fun because there are trampolines and stretch bands hanging from the ceiling. It is a bit different from what you would normally do at the gym. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. I went to an 8:30 class and it was not overly crowded. They also have teen classes.

Bari is THE MOST amazing, challenging and effective workout I’ve found yet! Trainers are fun, fit, inspiring and know how to get us the results that we all want when we give our time and sweat to workout. Try it, you will absolutely LOVE it

I was immediately obsessed with this workout blowing through all 10 classes that I had purchased. I think about when can I fit this into my schedule instead of what can I do instead! The music, the instructors energy and most importantly THE RESULTS! From a workout junkie… this class is amazing. #WorkoutCrushonBari

I tried 3 classes this week at the Bari studio as a part of an Instagram promotion. Now that I’m finished I have to say that I really wish I could afford to keep coming back here!
The workout– expect to sweat. A LOT. I did the Barione intro class (still brutal. It may be an intro class but it’s not easy. It’s challenging and fun. Probably my favorite class I took here). Bari micro– a full toning class. There is no traditional cardio, but again, expect to still sweat a lot. A lot of really great toning moves and I felt the burn immediately. Lastly, I did Bari bounce. This class was hell on earth in a good way. Extremely challenging but a great workout.
Bari combines trampolines, dance-​y moves, and toning moves which reminded me of barre. I was using muscles in these classes I didn’t know I had! Overall a really great workout. It’s very expensive but if you can afford it you should definitely do it.
The premises are very nice and neat. Very bright and inviting. The bathroom and locker room area were very nice. My only qualm is that they have heart rate monitors for you use (which is awesome. You can see your progress as your working out on a screen), BUT sometimes they were still sweaty from previous use, which is kind of gross. They have anti bacterial wipes but still.
One last note– don’t be intimidated if you have no rhythem or coordination (like me). You may feel ridiculous and behind as I did sometimes but it’s still fun and a great workout. The instructors are very upbeat and motivating.
Overall this place will give you a great workout.

The workouts are tough, teachers are great, it’s overall fun. Something that everyone should try because it’s so different than anything out there. How many studios can you use a trampoline, heart rate monitor, and resistance bands hanging from the ceiling all in one class. I personally can only name one: bari. I went barimicro today, I will be sore and achy tomorrow, but it was totally worth it and I’d do it again!
For those who are new, the first class is barione that all newbies are required to take as a staring point. Also, do not confuse this with a Barre workout, it is VERY different. It’s not easy to spot when you drive by. But it’s conveniently located right next to fashion island.

Bari is a super fun, pretty challenging workout. You get to bounce on a trampoline for the better part of the class. You hit the arms and legs with weights and bands that hang from the ceiling. Great music, cool lights, energetic instructors! Pam was my instructor today and she was happy, fun, in amazing shape and great at what she does. The studio is clean, parking is easy.

Got to try a few classes at the bari studio during lululemon’s reptember! First I will start off by saying the studio itself is great. The equipment is all very nice and the trainers are friendly and full of energy. They have a nice women’s restroom with one shower. Its a great touch that they provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, shaving cream, hair dryers, towels, qtips, tampons, and hair ties! As far as the classes go you will definitely get an amazing work out. They even provide heart monitors that estimate calories burned.
I am giving the bari studio a 4 because this style of exercise isnt really for me. I am horribly uncoordinated and its hard for me to keep up with the range of moves during the cardio portion (first half of barione class). It kind of felt like some kind of dance routine that everyone knew but me for the first two classes. That being said, bari is definitely a great workout and I would definitely recommend giving it a try… Unless you’re like me and you dont want to trip over your feet and break your face. :)

So now that Bari has been open for a few months I thought I would update my review. I LOVE this place. Make no mistake, it is hard. Not in a «I can’t do it» hard, but in a hard that is fun, pushes you to your limits, and leaves you with a sense of accomplishment. I have taken all of the various classes with different instructors. They are all so good. I actually look forward to seeing them! They kick your butt with an inspirational smile. The music is always perfectly matched to the activity and it’s always changing so you don’t come hearing the same sequence of songs every time. The facilities are very clean and well taken care of. The best part is they provide heart monitors so you can track how you’re doing the entire class.
You have to try it. Start with the bari one. You will be hooked!

Great workout. A little high on the impact for me but I am an active person so I am trying to preserve my body maybe differently than others. Love the heart rate monitors. Michelle was great, and she truly is passionate about her craft. I will hopefully work in a class every now and again!

I absolutely love this studio! Usually I feel a little embarrassed when working out in groups but the girls here are super nice and helpful. Plus I got my butt kicked during the classes and began to feel my body getting into better shape after the first one!

Holy cardio batman! This place is intense! I’m a fitness instructor and I thought I was in pretty good shape… but bari has really given me my doubts (and I took the intro barione class)! Here’s a breakdown of how it went: dancy cardio, cardio with resistance bands, trampoline cardio, standing weight work, glute work on the mat, planks on the mat with sliders, and ab work. You strap on a heart rate monitor at the beginning of class and can watch your bpm go up up and away! You seriously don’t stop the entire class unless you’re switching props (thank god) and they provide you with an ample amount of towels which you will most definitely need. My instructor Sunny was a BEAST! She is very tiny, but do not let that fool you. She did the entire class with us, energy 100%, super motivating, and was able to speak the entire time. I’m still not sure if she’s human. Afterwards I was dead, I am still dead, and am so sore it’s almost difficult to walk. If you are looking to take your workout routine to a new level or are a little masochistic when it comes to fitness and enjoy getting your butt kicked come check this place out, you won’t regret it (ok, you might during, but you won’t after)!

Omg! I’m so addicted that it hurts (literally– I’m so sore. I love it!) I have tried every workout known to man and before Bari I was just unhappy with what I was doing. I needed more. And Bari was exactly what I was looking for.
If you want a high energy, fat busting, every class is different kind of workout– then Bari is the answer. It combines sensory athletic-​dance cardio, trampoline, trx bands, weights, body weight and mat work in a nice 55min workout that delivers results and a whole lot of sweat. I burn so many calories and get my heart rate to the roof with every class. How do I know? We wear heart rate monitors and watch it on a flat screen during class. How amazing is that?
The trainers are out of this world good– High energy and a lot of fun (just like the classes). You feel like family immediately! Everyone is so nice. And in the OC– that means something.
Located in a great area (Fashion Island) –The studio is new, boutique style, and very clean. The bathrooms come with showers and towels are supplied.
I wish I could give more stars — it deserves it. Come bounce and sweat with us already– you won’t regret it!!!

i’m really a yoga girl, but i needed to mix it up so I tried Bari
I think I like it. Only 2 classes in, but I like that they make you take an overview class, then explain what you are getting into. Great service and teachers so far.
The pace of each class is Fast. But it’s only an hour.
I’m not trying to lose weight, they seem to put an emphasis on that with all the measuring and weighing and body fat % analysis. But I do think they are going for results, which is good.
It’s hard and everyone is in their 20s and 30s. Good way to light a fire :)

So… wow… Bari… not at all what I expected… Michelle and her ‘tribe’ must be on some kind of crazy energy drug; they don’t seem to ever stop moving! I attended my first Bari session May 1^st and have gone about twice a week since then. (Yes, sometimes begrudgingly, realizing that I’d already committed the money so there was no getting out of class.)
That said, every sweat filled hour has been worth it. The classes, depending on which one you attend, are centered around cardio with some element of arms, abs, buns worked in as well. For someone like me (not a fan of working out — or sweating for that matter), the classes take you out of your comfort zone and push you, but without the angry intensity or drill sergeant attitude that I’ve come across in some programs/​gyms. The staff does a great job of walking you through the moves and routines while keeping the music upbeat and fun.
The studio has a somewhat cult-​y feel in the branding — but achieves the inspirational goal of making you feel like one of the ‘tribe’ regardless of how uncoordinated or clumsy you are during class (that would be me tripping over my own feet in the back corner!) The workouts are not easy — but I can feel the difference that just a month has made in my overall strength/​endurance and body composition. I was worried that the classes (since there are only a handful offered) would get repetitive and I’d lose interest; yet every class, regardless of branding, has been different in some way.
I recommend giving Bari at least a two class chance — the first intro class can be overwhelming as it introduces you to all of the elements of the studio — it can be as dizzying as it is challenging. Then I suggest trying a bounce class — if for no other reason than to the jump around like a little kid… did I mention stretchy bands hung from the ceiling are involved… hello fun!
