This place is such a little hidden gem in the Santa Clarita valley(actually I think most people know about now, the lines are out the door). We’ve been going here since I can remember. It’s diner food(duh!) so don’t expect fruit with a side of fruit here. The Kris special is definitely worth getting. It’s mounds of hash browns upon mounds of hash browns with sausage and gravy covering all of it. It’s the best. And if your watching your waistline or cholesterol, just don’t come here everyday mmmmkay? Just once a month! But really, you need to go here. Even just once. But probably not, it’s so good you’ll make it a weekly occurrence.

Huge portions! The menu was a bit limited and service was meh. We did come 2 hours before closing so I don’t know if that affected the service out come but that’s no excuse, right? They didn’t even really speak to us, they just pointed at the booth. And the waitress didn’t come by till 20 mins later. Total service was a whopping 40min wait time. Not good. They have really good prices but then again how much can you really charge for 2 eggs, 2 bacons and some hash browns no? We ordered the Kris($ 6.95) breakfast because that what a friend of ours told us to try. Eggs, bacon, hash browns all slathered with chicken gravy or country gravy(I tried the chicken gravy). It seriously is a heart attack on a plate. Pass. It was okay just looked unappealing but hey you guys might like it. I do have to say their coffee is damn good! I had about 3 cups! Inside was neat, nostalgia décor and it located at a corner lots surrounded by green trees so the depending where you sit the view can be quite beautiful. Would we come back, maybe 1 more try just to give it a second chance. Next time I’ll try something else with no gravy, lol. Happy Eating!

Waystation is off main street down in Old Town Newhall and has been here forever. The place is often crowded with a wait, but I think it’s worth it. The hash browns are the same as they were many years back with chopped onions. The diner has a friendly staff and the food is good. Made as you order and you get to watch the cooks go to work. If you are in the area or looking for a breakfast place give it a try. Oh the line to wait is in the back of the restaurant as well as more parking. If you want a quicker wait eat at the counter. Many wait for a booth and when counter space opens up and they offer it grab and meet someone new.

This place is my go to place after a long hike or any kind of workout early morning! The service is a 12 out of 10 and the food is like eating a yummy homecooked meal. It’s my fave breakfast place in Santa Clarita and I definitely will go back AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN

Going here for years. Nothing on the menu disappoints. Kris Special is a must. Steak or Ham and eggs, with hash browns extra crispy with onions is also terrific! Old fashioned country style breakfast. Hog mog! Vicky, Norma, or Juanita will take great care of you. As will Abelino

We found this place early in the morning on the way to our annual Nor Cal camping trip. We wanted something more soulful than the usual roadside chain fare and Way Station fit-the-bill. Service was very friendly, food was great diner food with large portions. Plenty of local color– i think we were the only non-locals in the place. Seems to be a working man’s breakfast place where regulars meet every morning– friendly and cheerful crowd. The décor is an eclectic and funky and the place is actually very clean including the bathroom. Three giant plate of food where only $ 25 including tip. I think we’ve found a new favorite stop on our route!

The food is always good here. I love coming here when taking a trip on highway 14. The service… Another story. The sad part is that they don’t care and it won’t change anything. Why cause there is no competition and they are very popular in this little town of Newhall. They spend so much time on the regulars they forget about the people that will probably never come back here. I will never ever return back to this place. Service goes along way no matter how good the food is. And I will never recommend this place to anyone.

This place was really good, had huge portions, and the price was extremely affordable! You can spend $ 7 and feed at least 2 people lol. The service was also great. They are staffed well and come by every few minutes to check up on you. There is also plenty of parking. The only negative is that I wish this place was a little bigger. There was a long line in the back of customers waiting to be seated. It was hard to get to the restroom or even exit the back because of so many people standing there waiting to be seated. Maybe a better system? It’s located on beautiful Main Street so maybe customers can put their names down and a text can be sent to them when their table is ready so they can walk around Main Street as they are waiting? This place is not that modern so not sure if they would do something like that. All in all, it’s a winner for breakfast and their coffee is great! I took a star off only because of the wait in the small standing area.

The best breakfast not only in SCV but that I have ever had. The Kris Special(gravy on the side for me ;) is the way to go! The pancakes are delicious and giant! It’s been here for EVER so the cleanliness is questionable but once you eat the food you forget about that! I wish I could eat like this daily!

Great breakfast! Huge portions, so if your hungry this is a great spot. Right off the 14 fwy on the way to Mammoth from Los Angeles. The coffee shop is small so you may have to wait a little while, but is worth the wait. Make sure you get the Kris Special it’s named after me. Jk.

Could be better. Time for this classic to have a revamp. 1. Make the place bigger. It’s so cramped in there. 2. Restroom. Please have a his and her restrooms. Some guys don’t clean after themselves. It’s gross to have an eatery have this type of restroom.3. Service is adequate but could be better. The servers feels rushed like they are in rush hour traffic and need to speed up. I went there to order my tuna salad. It was good but nothing fancy. Country fried steak was good. The hash browns are big. It can be eaten by two people. Noticed they still employ am old way keeping the bacon fresh – with towels. Like the nostalgia of the place but it needs a makeover to accomodate more people.

Pretty damn good. My boyfriend attended this fancy pants(fancy because it wasn’t Ihop or the diner down the street) establishment without me and indulged in some eggs benedict with his brother-in-law. Him being a meat and potatoes guy who likened a good meal to the quality of the iced to involved, he wasn’t into that meal. Flash forward to the time I was invited. The place is in a quaint little area in Newhall. It’s part what San Fernando mall SHOULD be and part exactly what it is. The glorious mixed bag that is this side of Santa Clarita… It’s nice, small, and gets pretty packed. It took me a while to order my meal because I am indecisive as hell. The staff was accomodating but extremely busy so I fault them for not being over the moon friendly. How could they be? Efficiency was key in this setting and my drink never stayed empty. Oh and the setting? Plenty of knick knacks to look like that accompany the whole western/old time southern california feel that. The food was tasty. Breakfast can only be so amazing, it’s up to the spot to give it that little something extra; their personal flavor. The hashed browns were definitely a winner with a softer texture underneath the crunch and a somewhat creamy, buttery flavor mixed in with onions. My boyfriend and his bro type had the same meal. I forget the name, but it’s basic breakfast: Eggs, hashbrowns, bacon etc. Both were happy and filled. My only real complaint would be my eggs weren’t cooked over medium like I asked. Maybe this doesn’t warrant a whole start knocked off, but I can’t give perfection if I’m not totally blown away. It is somewhere I’ll come back to, though.

Really cool atmosphere for an old time dive coffee shop. We had a short wait for breakfast. Great initial service. Got our drinks an coffee quickly. Placed order with extra grilled onions with the hash browns. My eggs Benedict was just ok. Hollandaise was too lemony for me. Canadian bacon was more of a round ham steak. This would probably be a plus for many, but it was too thick for me and over powered the eggs. Hash browns were great. My brothers over easy eggs came back with runny whites twice. We were schooled that over easy means runny whites and yokes. Sorry, that is not right and even if it was, customers are right and don’t need to be talked down to. I don’t live here so will never be back. My brother comes here often and said it is usually much better. I should have gotten the giant pancakes I saw served to other customers. Coffee was good.

Beautiful traditional diner to the core. The décor, the setting, the food, the location. Everything about Way Station screams history. That being said, their food is homey and classic. Nothing out of the ordinary, but with such an atmosphere, it’s a great breakfast stop. Their gravy is not heavy(could be seasoned a bit more), while their hash browns, biscuits, and side protein are all just what makes an American Breakfast so good. Simplicity at its best, with fine service and incredibly fair prices. It was packed for a brunch period on a Monday morning, which is great to see! If you’re looking for good home-style cooking then Way Station is the place to go. I want to come back and try their country fried items. Can’t wait!
