R&S Automotive

This is one of the best automotive shops in Santa Clarita! Eddie and his team treat you like family. They take care of your car like their own. My entire family has gone to Eddie for decades. Even my Grandfather went to Eddie for many years until he passed away at 90 years old. Eddie was always patient with him even when my Grandfather was crabby.

I think the guys at R&S are service oriented and are excellent mechanics. We used them for many years and they treated us honestly, but the prices were too high for the services so we switched to a different shop.

I’ve gone here twice for no-​start conditions on my car. Both times it had to be towed to them. They fixed my car both times in a VERY expedient manner. I think both times I left it overnight only and that was after towing in in the afternoon.
1. No start — diagnosed as bad battery/​alternator.
2. No start — diagnosed as bad fuel pump
I bought the old VW with almost 100,000 miles already on it, so these are expected problems for such age.
One side note: after the fuel pump was changed, the next day I was driving and the car started coughing and shaking like there was air or dirt in the line. The gas was low but that never happened before with low gas. So I filled it up and called them & of course they offered to look at it but they thought it would clear up. It did, as in, it was never that bad again, but ever since it does a very minor version of it at various random times. Therefore it might not have anything to do with their work. I had my Dad’s long time mechanic double check the car & he said all good. So it’s not something that would stop me from going back to them! My car is old & European so who knows what it is!!!
Overall my car has done great with the service they gave me. Some people, including me, have thought they are a bit more expensive, but after getting educated I found they use the best parts possible for your repair. And honestly don’t you want that?
I love how fast they are & they will give you a ride home!

I think the guys at R&S are wonderful. They are professional and friendless, educated and fair in the work that needs to be done. They are very helpful and never try to sell me something I don’t need done or fixed.

I’ve taken my cars to R&S in the past, but it had been a few years. I called R&S because my steering wheel was shaking whenever I would brake. I knew what needed to be fixed, but thought I would see if I could get a quote over the phone. Mario answered and was super helpful. I work long hours and get off when most businesses are closing. I made it in time to drop my car off before they closed. Mario called me promptly the next morning with the diagnoses and let me know it was going to be a little more since there was more that had to be done. The price was still under what the dealership had quoted me. He called me when my car was ready and was able to have one of the guys pick me up. Overall fabulous service! And to top it all off I got a follow up call a couple days later to make sure everything was running smoothly! Very impressed & highly recommended!

We’ve been using R&S for several years and never had any issues. They are always courteous, communicative and reasonably priced.

Good service, friendly and professional. Some times a bit pricey, but the work was done well. No longer in the area so we will not be able to go back.

Cannot recommend R&S enough. They’ve turned me down for service I went in asking for, because I didn’t need it. I don’t know a better metric for judging the honesty of a mechanic, and beyond honesty I have never had a single issue with my cars after service from R&S. Go. See for yourself. They’re wonderful!

We’ve been taking our vehicles to R&S for years, and couldn’t be happier. Between the great customer service, and knowledgeable technicians, we’ll never go anywhere else!

I forgot to get my free check in hat, but i’m really happy with their service and would come back. I usually do oil changes myself, but recently had to move due to a home flood and already had the parts. For $ 25 they did the work and also let me know about a leak they detected (which I suspected). I also requested a tire rotation, which was $ 25 and I approved (4WD SUV), but they said later wasn’t needed and didn’t charge. (love the honesty).
Waited an hour for a walk in oil change at the end of the day… that actually isn’t bad for a full service shop.
waiting room is nice and clean, and people were really friendly. I will go back again for other things I need that I can’t get to.

I will not trust taking my car anywhere else. Eddie does a great job communicating and fixing my cars. Great shop with top notch service.

We have been going to R&S for my entire adult life. Service is great, and they techs diagnose problems and give real estimates and honest preventative maintenance. They have never over charged or done work that was un-​necessary and I am an very hands on car owner who is mechanically inclined. I would recommend R&S to anyone.

I have been taking my car to R & S for about 20 years. I was so disappointed when they charged me $ 125 just to diagnose the problem. I was shocked! They quoted me a price of $ 750 to fix the problem with my car. The price was a bit too much for me at that time — so I decided to hold off the repairs. Upon a friend’s suggestion, I took my car to another auto shop (on Valencia Blvd near Kmart). Thank goodness I did not pay R & S the $ 750 because the other auto shop fixed everything and I saved $ 300. I feel bad because I felt loyal to R & S — but unfortunately they lost a customer. I would encourage everyone to get a second opinion if you are using R & S Automotive because you are probably getting ripped off. I am sorry that it took me 20 years to realize this.

Great work expensive. You get what you pay for. As long as I can afford it, I will be at R & S.

I’ve used R&S Automotive for many years now and would never think about going anywhere else. I’ve been treated honestly and with respect from day one. I’d highly recommend them to anyone.

Hands down an excellent, trustworthy shop. I am absolutely paranoid when it comes to anybody working on my car but on my way to LA from Nor. Cal around the grapevine the clutch went out on my beloved 93 Toyota Pickup. Not having access to any tools etc. I did some research on shops in the area and discovered R & S which seemed to be the best bet. I based this on the fact that it is family owned and not related to any of the stealerships nearby. Their shop is also very clean and organized with good equipment.
I brought in my truck along with parts I ordered online from Marlin Crawler. Two days later the work was completed and for a fair price. Not inexpensive but very fair considering the amount of labor required. Also the fact that they allowed me to source my own parts was very reassuring to me. This was over a year ago and my new clutch is operating perfectly to this day. Would not be the case had it been installed poorly.
A month later Dylan, the owners son helped me to locate a custom fabricated aluminum radiator to upgrade the old one in my truck. He did all the footwork to ensure fitment and other important info, without being asked to do so.
Thank you Dylan and the rest of the R & S team for your consistent high quality work, good shops are somewhat of a dying breed these days.

I’m trying to write this review without being too angry, but I am frustrated with them right now. I have been going to them for years and I drive an older car with 160,000 miles on it. I don’t have money for a new car and happily I can report the work they do does keep my car running.
My problem is that up til Nov 15 th of this year (2010) I have spent $ 1200 there for an oil leak, battery change, oil change, tune-​up with spark plug change, throttle service (?). My last full service was Nov. 15^th to the tune of $ 750.00 of that was $ 400 in labor. I feel dumb now for falling for their upsale techinique, but not anymore.
My check engine light came on two weeks later. It was unrelated to the work done. They hooked it up to a diagnostic machine found a part, brushed it out, drove the car around and returned it to me for yet another $ 125.00. I don’t know the reviewer above that gets such great deals and free service, but I’ve been using this shop for over 3 years and they’ve never cut me any slack off their «competitive» (according to mario) $ 113.00 per hour charge.
In short, their work is solid quality work. But if you are looking for the friendly mechanic who recognizes your loyalty and cuts you some some slack on minor fixes three weeks before Christmas then you should go somewhere else.

If you are looking for great service, coupled with honesty, go to R&S.
I had some work done, part of which was covered by an extended warranty. It was a major job and took several days. No big deal; they were upfront, arranged for a low cost rental car and handled all of the warranty paperwork. The day after I picked up the car, I get a phone call from the owner.
Seems there was a billing issue…
Where would I like him to send the $ 250 that was overcharged?

I’ve never experienced such honesty with an auto shop. Given the complexity of what was/wasn’t covered by the extended warranty, I would never have caught the $ 250 error. But he did.
So why only 4 stars? Well, they aren’t exactly the least expensive in town. They are good at matching prices with other shops, though.
Are they the «cheapest» around? Nope.
Would I recommend them? Absolutely. 4.5 stars!

Awesome place and the price is awesome. Here is my kinda long story. I got new tires at mountain view down the street and I had some transmission fluid leaking. Well they told me what it was and that it would cost me 1500 dollars to fix. I just bought tires and couldn’t afford to get it fixed. So I did what a broke person does and just refilled the transmission fluid often over the next year.
Finally, the leak was so bad I had to get it fixed. I took it into R&S and it only cost me $ 700 dollars to fix!!! That’s 800 less than those that tried to gyp me down the street. Never again will I go to mountain view and now I am a life long customer of R&S! So is my family too. Hopefully not to often though!
