Brake Masters

Came here after buying 4 new tires from America’s Tire Co. as they give you a referral discount on Alignments. These guys are awesome and friendly. The best part is they are just across from Newhall Library which is arguably the best place to hang out while your car is being worked on. That or the many restaurants/​breweries the next street over in Old Town Newhall. The best part is, they checked my alignment and in about 20 mins called me to say I didn’t need one! In this day and age of aggressive upselling its really nice to hear something like this once in a while. I’m definitely coming back to these guys for when I do need one of their services.

I’ve gotten a brake job more than a year ago for my Camry. Then, my car started to make squeeky sound. This squeeky sound hasn’t occurred for at least a few years before when I got a brake job. So, I started to doubt the workmanship from Brake Masters.
I took my vehicle in and talked to Donald. Donald was very professional and replaced the brake pads at no additional cost. The brake is working great.

My wife’s Audi Q5 was in dire need for brakes. I went to the dealership and quickly left after their astronomically ridiculous quote. I hopped on Unilocal and found brake masters. Upon my arrival, I was greeted and assisted by a very friendly gentleman at the counter. I got a quote which was very fair and they handled business. I recommend this place 100%

Went in thinking I might have to throw down a few hundred bucks for some new brakes after I told them I noticed a burning smell. Turns out there was just a plastic bag stuck on my exhaust. They checked the brakes, told me they were still good 4 a while and even rotated my tires. I offered to pay for the rotation but they said don’t worry about it!
They could’ve tried 2 sell me something I didn’t need but they were totally honest from start 2 finish. Hard 2 find businesses like that anymore. Highly recommend this place to everybody I know.

But when you see these guys at Break Masters in Newhall California, you don’t just get quality work done, you get a man of principles that will go the extra mile just to make sure his Customers are 100% safe & satisfied!

These guys went above and beyond. I used to work as a service writer for a large car dealership and I was very impressed with the level of communication and integrity these guys have. I brought my Audi in for some suspension work. I previously had my car at a German shop and their prices were steep. Brake Masters beat the German shop price by $ 100 on every job. Bradley was extremely helpful and kept me up to date. I never had to call them once. He called me. There was a crazy complication where I had a nutplate that was cracked. They called dealerships and junk yards to track down this part. I can say in my experience of writing service, I never sold one of these. So it was not an easy part to track down. The dealerships wanted a steep price and a week to ship it. Brake Master found one in a junk yard and sent a guy to pick it up. They finished the job all in one day. They could’ve told me that there was nothing they could do and made me wait another day, but they didn’t. These guys saved my weekend plans and I will be returning for all my suspension, brake, and alignment needs.

Only reason why they are not getting one star is because the mechanics really know how to fix cars. Sadly Bradley (Manager) and Blake (Manager’s son) lack honesty and integrity. You are wondering why I am saying that? Well glad you asked. I called Monday and made an appointment for today to get my car’s brakes, alignment and oil leak looked at. Spoke with Blake and he quoted me 169.99 for the front brakes in case I need to get them replaced. This quote included a 30 dollar coupon price and resurfacing of the rotors. I get there today and they check the brakes and find out that there is a crack in them which is causing the noise. So I asked them to replace them. Bradley says it is 189.99 with the coupon. I said Blake quoted me 169.99. He says no that is not true and calls Blake over. Blake looks all puzzled and confused and super shocked in front of his dad. Then tells me that the quote that he gave me was for the brakes only and not including resurfacing. Total BS. I brought it up to Bradley later on while checking out and he tells me that he trained his son and that he believes what his son is saying. WOW… What does that say about you as a trainer and a Father Bradley if that is how you are training your child. You have a very dishonest employee and son. Let me be clear… It is not about the $ 20.00. It is the principal of the matter. I called 4 different Brake Masters stores while getting my brakes done and they all quoted 169.99. Bradley claims that his store costs more to run and therefore has to charge more. BS again… You can’t tell me that Tarzana, Ca cost less to rent space in then Newhall, Ca… Come on let’s be real.
I miss the Van Nuys Brake Masters. Honesty and integrity was on top of their list.
The Newhall store lost a 20 year customer of this company.

Very friendly and honest! Brad is the best! Got my brakes replaced and it wasn’t super expensive and they fit me in right away and had it done very quickly. I’ll definitely be back for any other things my car needs.

I had taken my wife’s car in for brakes because I got in one day and heard this horrible grind, which meant the pads were gone or going very soon.
They had a deal for around $ 200 for lifetime brakes, well about six months later I heard the sound again and I have worn out my share (and more) of brake pads so they don’t wear out in six months. I took it back and one had picked up a rock so they replaced both within their warranty.
No problems after that so really worth it because both times around was no hassle.

Needed an alignment done and these guys gave me a deal because America’s Tires referred me to them.
Made an appointment for a weekday morning, dropped it off a little early, strolled to Egg Plantation a block away for some tea where they called me to let me know the degrees they were going to set my alignment to and told me it’d be done in about a half hour.
I finished my tea, walked back over, paid, and was on my way. They were super friendly, explained the process all the way through for me, and never tried to up-​sell me on more than I needed. I’d come back here again for car needs!

Honest brake mechanic shop. They do great work and always reliable. Not cheap but not too pricey.

Great experience today. I went in for front and back brakes and That’s all I left with. The price was the exact same price I was quoted over the phone and nothing makes me happier than truthful business owners especially with car repairs. I was told that I needed roters as well for my back brakes, but since that was not in the budget they told me that if I come back within 90 days, I will only pay for parts… no labor! What’s even better, I got that in writing without even asking. I have been taken advantage of before and it was a relief to actually go in for some maintenance and get what you come in for. The job took about an hour and a half, so I walked a block to the library. Easy, very reasonable as far as price & great service. Great job guys!

called ahead and made an appointment. went in and told them what I needed done and that I didn’t want anything else. right off they started taking apart other parts of my van that had nothing to do with my front brakes. I specifically told them what I needed done and nothing more but they still kept trying to sell me more. I would usually do the work myself but my hoa doesn’t allow it. I know what my vehicle needs and told them so. but they still insisted on trying to sell me more. a 20 minute job took over an hour and a half.
I only went here because they were closer than my usual tire store that I use for this kind of work. unfortunately I called my usual tire store after these guys had started the work. my guy quoted me less than half of what «brake masters» charged. it would have been worth the extra gas to go to my usual tire store.
I would not recommended this place and don’t trust them.

These guys did a great job on my car for a fair price. They made a mistake on estimating and could have easily just said, «sorry we made a mistake, the price is actually $$» but instead they honored their mistake and didn’t charge me for a part I needed. I will definitely come back here anytime I need work on my cars.

Awesome place. Clean, efficient and priced right. I am not a fan of letting other people touch my cars, but I don’t have an alignment machine. I would have no problem taking my car back to them.

I only take my car here for the 19.00 oil change (with a coupon that comes in the mail every single week). They do a good job. They’ve occasionally tried to tell me my car needs something extra. If that is the case, I take it to my regular mechanic who is about ¹⁄₃ cheaper.

EDITED (11−9−13): I just took away a star because I blew a tire on the freeway today. I understand that it’s my responsibility to constantly check the maintenance on my car, BUT I took my car in less than a month ago and you would think they would tell me that my rear tires were BALD. NOPE. I guess they don’t look at that stuff. BUT they sure did look at my rear brakes and I know they had to take off my tires for that… why didn’t they notice?
Came here based on the Unilocal reviews. I drive a sport Mercedes and although its the lowest class model I have to change brake pads AND rotors. GRRRR. Expensive but I have an expensive car. I didn’t sh around so I’m not sure how their prices compare.
Customer service was outstanding though.
Took about 2 hours which is kinda what I expected. But for doing my brakes they could have at least put air in my tires and since I got an oil change they could have topped off my fluids. Come on! I paid $ 866!!!

Sorry to ruin all the 5-​star reviews, but if you’re looking for a place to get an oil change, keep looking.
I paid $ 29.95 plus tax ($ 24.95 base + $ 5.00 extra for a special oil filter that my car requires) for an oil change and nothing more. Some places fill your fluids, check your tire pressure, etc. They don’t do any of that here. I came in with a low tire light expecting them to fix it, and drove away with a low tire light. I guess my expectations were too high. I could’ve spent my $ 30 at Jiffy Lube and gotten all of the above.
Like any automotive maintenance place, they of course found things «wrong» with my car; however never in my life have I been quoted $ 1,068 worth of repairs that my car «needed.» Sixty dollars of which was for the replacement of two air filters at $ 30 each. I found said air filters online for $ 10 apiece that will take about 5 minutes total to install. The other $ 1,008 problem is something I will be getting a second opinion about.
The employees here are friendly, but since business was slow and I am a female, they clearly tried to take advantage of me. I am never going here again.

This is the first place that I have visited based solely on past Unilocal reviews and I was not disappointed. I was able to be seen right away. Their prices are reasonable and clearly posted. You can watch TV or visit any number of shops that are within walking distance, from the public library to second hand stores, while you wait for your car to be serviced. The service was speedy. I really have no complaints.
They truly exceeded my expectations. I will not hesitate to use them in the future.
