MetroNorth is the second rock climbing gym to be opened by the MetroRock Rock Climbing Center.

When I first started climbing at this gym I knew very little about climbing and no one who climbed. Fast forward a year later and I was climbing some serious stuff. The climbing staff at this gym are the best you will find. Not only did they help me gain skills, they were kind and encouraging. You will not find a better gym. I’ve recently moved to California and I find myself missing this place like crazy. So, go climb and get to know these people. You’ll have the time of your life!

Decent rock climbing gym for the kids. However it is not well staffed. We’ve come every weekend after Christmas, and today there was one person running both the desk and the gym. We’ve had similar experiences every time we’ve come. It’s not safe to have no staff in the climbing area.

nuali I. I think you are lost and meant to review another place. There are no pools here, it is a rock climbing gym. There are no plans for pools… Anyhoo, I’ve been here a few times to bring my four year old and he thoroughly enjoys it. There are autobelays which require limited training and they have walls that are suitable for little kids as well as older kids and adults. Highly recommend for all levels from novice to expert.

MetroRock has a bunch of climbing walls with manual and auto belay. They also have a few bouldering walls.
It’s as clean as it could be. It’s indoors and air conditioned which is very nice.
MetroRock never was considering getting a pool or has one, especially not an olympic size or even close to it.
I’d recommend MetroRock to new climbers and experienced climbers alike.

Solid rock climbing gym with bouldering, top-​rope, lead climbing and a couple of auto belay devices. In particular this gym has a very large bouldering section, so if that is your thing then it is totally worth the trip to Newburyport. There is also a slackline available if one asks the gym staff to string it up. On the whole the service is attentive and friendly and generally the gym doesn’t get too crowded (nothing like Everett). Closes early on weekends.
This gym used to have a lot of supplemental training equipment including a large frame with 2 types of pullup bars, a hang board and rings, medicine balls and what have you but since New Years’ they are renovating and putting in a circuit wall in that area which should be sweet once it is done
As it is less crowded, Metrorock North also lets people keep their gear in the locker room overnight, which is also a plus.

I’ve only been here twice in two years with my nephews. It’s great fun with the bouldering and rock climbing with belaying. One weird thing — previously, my brother in law could belay me. Now he could only do people under 14. I recommend that you clarify with them about what’s possible before you commit to going. It’s pricey, but it’s fun.

Beautiful gym, interesting routes that change fairly often and more options for what to do with my time than many other gyms that I’ve been to.
Even though its a huge location it does seem to fill up fast if you’re there at the wrong time.

Indoor Rock Climbing gyms can be intimidating and over whelming for people who are not climbing El Cap on a regular basis but this HUGE location is the opposite. The staff had the knowledge and expertise of the experts with out the gigantic ego’s. I am part of the Big Brother association and I took my little brother to this phở-​indoor rock mountain and we had a blast!!! The staff told me that it can get busy on weekends because they do have competitions, school outings etc so make sure you call a head. To become certified to belay (the action of using the ropes and a harness to safely prevent someone from falling) you either need to take one of their courses or take a belay test. They also have a massive indoor bouldering wall. For those who do not like to be more than 5 –7 feet off the ground. Do not worry about what you look like in a harness we all look ridiculous and those that do not are 1% of the population and even if they look good they still feel weird.
