Shilo Inn Suites Newberg

The staff is pleasant, the room was quiet and clean and the breakfast is good. We have stayed here several times when we visit our son at college. It is walking distance to George Fox University and it works well for us. This is a basic place & has no frills. They could update and spruce the place up a bit, but for the price, it works.

Apparently, notifying the front desk that you’re driving eight hours to the hotel, and talking to them multiple times on the phone about the general time frame isn’t enough for the employees that work the front desk. My manager faxed over all the check In information, credit card, I.d., and information paper, the day before we left to head up here from California. Once we arrived the lady at the front desk said that we were «early» even though it was 12:00 a.m. She was Incredibly rude even after we came in with smiles. She was very minimal on words, and when she did answer us, it was in a very condescending tone. Almost as if we were burdening her by actually making her do her job. We left the office after checking in feeling very uncomfortable about that interaction. My manager went back into the office to let her know that she made us feel very uncomfortable about even staying in the hotel after that, and all she proceeded to say was «I’m sorry that you feel that way, but you can have a nice night in your room.» We work in a business that is totally public oriented, so we were absolutely dumbfounded by her actions! We then spoke to the manager who was just as bad, she just tried to speak in a nicer tone. Which was even more annoying.
Other then the extremely horrible customer service, the room isn’t all that bad. You have to hold the toilet handle the entire time you flush, the comforter has a bunch of holes, but other then that it’s not bad for $ 89 a night.
Overall, I would never stay here again, and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

Girls playing softball in 100 degree weather. All day and they close the pool. Then one of our mom’s finds a cockroach in there room… then we try to stay another night. And we try to pay with script and he says no… this has been the worst stay ever… and there breakfast isn’t that good

Planning for 3 nights here and I’m writing this on the second night and so far, so good. The room is clean, the décor is nice, the breakfast is included. All good in my opinion.

Middle of the road place. Nothing to get overly excited about. It could use a little freshening up. Carpets in one of our rooms was threadbare in spots. overall though, not a bad place to stay.
I was not entirely thrilled with the check in process, which is probably my main complaint. The woman who checked me in, made me wait about 10 minutes until she entered all the rooms that were clean into their system… okaaaaaaaay? What happened to customers coming first? It was 100 degrees, we had traveled for hours and I just stood their waiting for her to complete her paperwork. Not impressed with that.
On the positives, the breakfast was adequate, and the A/​C worked great. The room was finished nicely and was clean as best I could tell. My teenagers enjoyed the pool. We only stayed one night and it was certainly fine for that.
I would encourage management to work with your front desk staff. Don’t leave a customer standing there ten minutes just because you don’t have your paperwork up to date.

We needed a place to crash while visiting family. I’m familiar with Newberg so I wasn’t expecting much. The room was extremely quirky. They really need to catch up with the times. Actual keys instead of cards. Tube T.V. Wall dial phone in the bathroom, a towel rack in the shower? and a wood panel microwave from the 80’s! It’s like stepping back into my childhood! The toilet flooded the bathroom. The knobs in the shower had soap scum so old I think there’s a civilization of bacteria living on it. We refrained from taking a shower it was so nasty. Overall after sleeping there two nights our bodies feel beat up from the mattress. If you plan on staying here I would suggest bringing some memory foam padding for the bed. It wasn’t worth the «super saver» deal of $ 66 a night.

Great breakfast, friendly staff, and clean rooms. The breakfast includes waffles, biscuits and gravy, and your typical continental items.

Man, we were so excited to kick it at the Shilo Inn in Newberg, OR! We even made a song about staying at the Shilo. I have mixed feelings about it all.
My boyfriend made reservations for Friday and Saturday night for one room; our friends we were traveling with did the same. We all ended up camping on Friday night and both called to cancel our rooms just for Friday. Our reservation was fine, my friend’s was cancelled for Saturday — the wrong night. They were full by then and basically told him he was SOL, so friend was left to find last minute accommodations in a tiny town, on a Saturday (it all worked out in the end).
All day prior to checking in, we overheard people who were attending the same wedding we were at talking about how AWESOME the Shilo Inn is. We even heard some lady at the local pizza parlor raving about the Shilo, echoing the Unilocal reviews I read.
We finally get there and bam! A blast from the past in the form of an ACTUAL DOOR KEY. I mean no sarcasm when I say it was great… I can’t recall the last time I stayed at a hotel with no key cards. I think I was still a minor… I digress. The rooms were pretty nice though slightly dated, with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and Saran-​wrapped glasses. The bathroom and sink area were clean. We did not partake of the continental breakfast, but instead dined heartily at J’s, an IHOP-​like establishment in the same parking lot as the Shilo Inn. Other friends staying at the hotel said the continental breakfast was good.
There was a pool but the lights were off, so I did not attempt to enter despite a deep yearning to. It appeared to be clean.
When we were checking out in the morning, a friend was waiting behind us in line to check out of her room. Just as we were finishing up with the clerk, an old couple WHOOSHED right in front of our friend who had been waiting several minutes. The clerk did not bat an eyelash, serving the old couple as if our buddy was invisible (the friend figured they were old, so no biggie, but it was funny to watch).
Overall, the Shilo Inn was pretty decent, reasonably priced, and I would stay there again. I just don’t see why the whole town is so stoked about it.

This is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, other three are shilo inn in seaside, red lion at the park Spokane, and quality inn in ellensburg. This has great beds, an amazing pool, top notch service, and an epic breakfast! I had a great stay at this hotel when I was at a fastpitch tourney with the fam. This is as good as it gets!

Great place to stay, great staff as well. The rooms were very nice. And, they have an elevator. Coffee and breakfast stuff in the lobby. The clerks help me find something to do before the wedding I was attending. Good times!

Yup, for the price this place gets 5 stars! My husband and I went up to Oregon for a last minute, long weekend trip but didn’t want to spend too much cash. The room was clean, staff was friendly and the free breakfast is the bomb! We got a smokin’ deal on
and couldn’t have been happier with out stay. This isn’t the Hilton or the W, but perfect for a low key wine tasting weekend.

This place was an incredible value. I was in Newberg on business and needed a place to crash for one night. The staff was friendly when I checked in. There were complementary fresh baked peanut butter cookies on the front desk for guests and free popcorn! For the price, the room was way more than I expected. It was spotless. It had new attractive carpet, marble flooring in the bathroom, big white fluffy towels, and a nice set up with 2 sinks in the room and a refrigerator. It had a flat screen TV too. In the morning when I missed breakfast the nice staff opened up a new milk for me for my tea.
The only thing that made it a notch less than perfection was the quality of the sheets — not good. But, other than that, an unbelievable value for the price. I highly recommend this hotel if you need an inexpensive no frills, good value place to stay in the area.

First impression: the lobby is so dated, I felt like I was stuck in 1984. But I didn’t come here for the lobby, I came here for the room. I actually prefer that hotels spend more money on the rooms themselves than a snazzy-​looking lobby, and that’s what the Shilo Inn did.
The beds are pretty comfortable with lots of pillows. A comparable hotel is probably any Radisson Inn. Some of the fixtures were a little awkward and dated, but Shilo did a good job of transitioning. Overall, it was an asthetically pleasing room.
Carpet was like-​new condition, the fridge worked fine and the towells are good.
