I LOVE this place! I have been there a few times and have always had a blast. The skating rink is pretty big so there is always enough room and it never seems to be overcrowded which is awesome. The price is pretty fair as well. I highly recommend going here… its great exercise and tons of fun!

University of Delaware has two ice rinks, both are well maintained. UD’s Hockey program includes: Learn To Play Hockey, Cross Ice and In-House Hockey Leagues, Youth Travel Hockey, Hockey Clinics, Open Hockey, and Adult Hockey Leagues. These programs are all highly recommended. High Performance Figure Skating Center develops Olympic talent. Open skate is available with limited times during the summer. The Rust Ice Rink has a great pro shop with all your needs run by Crystal Sports.

This was only my second time being on the ice, the first being 11 years ago, so you can imagine that I wasn’t all that enthused about going ice skating during Holiday break! Nevertheless, I showed up, and showed off! I can say that out of the two times I have been, I’ve never fallen, and its much easier that it seems. Enough of me though, the facility is nice and clean, the staff was friendly, and the skate rentals were reasonable(admission $ 8, skates $ 3). I would recommend going when you know that kids are in school or in bed. The majority of them could skate quite well, but there a dozen or so that looked like they were in a human demolition derby, which made it a challenge for those with limited skills. Overall, we had a good time, and I look forward to going back.

We attended my 6 year old nephew’s birthday party here on Saturday and I was very impressed with the Fred Rust Ice Arena. The facility was top notch and the staff was very accommodating. It’s the perfect setting for a kids birthday party.
