Probably my favorite bakery in the Ironbound. The whole grain croissant is amazing. All of their breads are. Their Pasteis de Nata are amazing and always fresh! The only reason I can’t give it a 5 Star is that they only take debit/credit on $ 20 or more; and seating can be limited.

Whenever I have time in Newark, this little bakery place is my spot! Pan de agua, toasted with butter and a regular coffee is all I need while I watch the ever so diverse area of iron bound Newark. The people at the counter aren’t the most social in the world but that’s ok as long as the bread is fresh!

This place open til 9pm on Sunday. Based on s me good reviews on Unilocal we went there to check it out. The place was small with no special appeal. The floor was dirty with paper trash here and there. Limited choices of cakes and pastries. They also have burnt pastries if you like one. We got a chocolate cake, a tiramisu and a flan which were great. The Chocolate cake was not too sweet which was to my friend’s liking. While we were sitting some customers came as well as panhandlers. Will we go there again? No.

Absolutely the best Café in Ironbound right now. Although we live far but we make any excuse to go to Pao De Terra on the weekends. We’ve been going there regularly since they opened. Their Pao de Agua is to die for. I make sure to bag a dozen«at least» and freeze them. When you take them out of the freezer and toast them they taste almost like the fresh ones. Their coffee is really good. Service is excellent. Owner is always there. sometimes she comes by our tables and talks to people and ask them if everything is OK. She is so pleasant even though she works so hard and looks so tired. Did I tell you about their pastries !!! Amazing, so fresh. My favorite is the Almond turnover, Generously covered with almonds from the outside and filled with creamy almond pasted inside, it’ll melt in your mouth. Their Pasteis de nata is so good. Only issue they have, they get so busy and sometimes it is hard to find a table. if you happen to be in Ironbound you have to visit Pao De Terra, When I’m inside the place, the smell from the coffee and pastries and the noise, I truly feel I’m back in Portugal.

A cute little bakery tucked in the iron bound on ferry street. A great place to stop and get a cappuccino and a pastry.

Great latte as I’ve never tried one with this flavor now wish I could get this where I live. Also bought several custard pies which were delicious. The real kicker was the orchard bread(fruit in it) and the soft rolls were simply perfectly made and were eaten greedily. This is a must visit for baked good next time I’m close by and can stomach the traffic.

In Newark and stopped by Ferry Street in the mood for Bolinho de Bacalhao(a fish croquette). Had them fresh and hot. Soooooo delicious. Like candy! I think the best on Ferry St. Do your mouth a solid and check it out for yourself when in the area. The pão de água(water bread) as well as the pão com chouriço(bread with Portuguese sausage) was«eyes roll back in your head» insane! Pão de Terra is an outstanding Portuguese bakery!

I stopped in for an quick evening coffee, or galao as you’d say it in Portuguese, and was pleasantly surprised by their selection! They had pão com chouriço, pão de água, pastries and even offer tosta mistas! Seems like a great portuguese bakery! The ladies behind the counter were polite and friendly. Bakery itself was a bit small but welcoming and pretty clean. The coffee was great, I’ll have to return to try more of their selection.

I’ve lived in the Ironbound for most of my life and I’m pretty much over most of the local bakeries. That is until we came to Pao Da Terra. It is probably the closest thing to a real Portuguese bakery in NJ. They have an assortment of fresh breads and sweet pastries. They also have meat pastries. We came here on a Sunday night and were surprised to see that they actually had a lot to choose from and it was all fresh! I recommend trying the«Pao de agua» bread. Also, the ladies behind the counter were very nice, they don’t mind telling you what everything is at your request.
