FlightCar

I would strongly advise never using FlightCar! FlightCar customer service has been absolutely abysmal and unprofessional during my last interaction with the company. I have used FlightCar a number of times in the past, and was a loyal customer until recently, recommending the company to various friends. During my most recent interaction with FlightCar, we were charged a ridiculous fee after canceling a reservation; We had made the reservation under the old website which did not clearly explain the limited insurance policy. I have called customer service several times, and explained this, and was promised a complete refund on my last call. The refund never came through, and I have called again and again. Yesterday evening, I reached someone who advised me to request a refund through my credit card, instead of handling the situation themselves. I will never use this service again, and strongly recommend using Dollar, Avis, Enterprise, etc, as they have just as competitive rates, with complete insurance coverage, and no hidden limited policies.

The best and most friendliest staff ever. Deli and the team always upgrade my car for free and always have a smile on their face. So nice to rent a car here!!!

If I could give a zero rating, I would. I booked my FlightCar on May 11, for Memorial Day weekend. I’m about to leave for the segments of my trip before Newark this afternoon. I receive a phone call TODAY (FOUR DAYS BEFORE MY SCHEDULED RENTAL) that they cannot provide the car. I understand you are a community based car rental service, but if you don’t expect to have cars, then call me sooner… not four days before Memorial Day weekend. This is absolutely ridiculous and I am very angry.

I was a little skeptical when renting from FlightCar since I wasn’t too familiar with the concept.
After having rented a car from the Newark location this past weekend, I was pleasantly surprised with the ease in service and the friendliness of the reps.
When I landed in EWR, it was a difficult getting to the car rental area, but once I got there, Kimberly picked me up and took me to their physical location to pick up the car. She was patient with me getting lost in the airport.
The Nissan rental was clean, smelled nice, and drove like a dream. I was a little sad to drop it back off.
Delli helped me check back in my car on Sunday was just as sweet as Kimberly. She was friendly, energetic, and extremely accommodating.
Overall an extremely satisfied with the rental and customer service– would recommend without hesitation.

I’m big fan of the service at this branch of Flightcar. Mike is one of the friendliest, most professional guys I’ve encountered and took such good car of me and my car during my recent trip to Peru.
The process if fast and convenient and the team goes out of the way to make sure you understand everything and accommodate special requests — definitely something a traditional rental car agency wouldn’t do.

Mike the manager was a class act and tremendously thorough and judicious in taking care of my car, it was obvious he took great pride in his job so that alone makes me want to use flight car again!

My friends and I rented a car and it was great! The car was nice and our trip was fun. The girls Desi, Della, and Kim were very nice. We want to rent here again when we go on another trip.

I was skeptical at first, but all those feelings were quickly put aside when I was picked up by a friendly young woman who was just beginning with the company. On the way to the pick up site she answered all the questions I had. The paperwork was simple. I was given a great car-​it only had 10K mi. A Volister. The toll collector complimented the car! I wanted to tell him all about Flight Car. I look forward to using Flight Car in the future. I trust the company will soon expand into South Florida.

The staff were amazing– courteous, responsive and fun. And I got a great deal. The office location could be closer, but overall I def recommend Flightcar. I also like that they make use of otherwise idle cars.

This is the best flightcar location I’ve used. Hands down. Thanks to Attiya who works here, my car came back cleaner than I’ve ever seen it, the pickup person was waiting before I got out of the terminal, and everything was easy and quick.

I had rented a few times from here. And it’s a nice renting experience. I got helped by Anita, who is really friendly and nice.

People working at this location are nice and friendly. This review is about Flightcar execution and customer service in general.
One star for Flightcar because of follows:
1. Reimbursement promised but not delivered, and kept saying there is nothing they can do, they just don’t care breaking their promises to customers
2. Transferred customers to a worse service due to their own operational failure and considered it a right thing to do, laughable
3. Stopped communication completely after being asked with challenging questions, how professional
4. My experience seemed to be that they give you a chance to provide feedback only when they think you are happy, otherwise, no chance to review. So don’t trust the high ratings on their own website. That’s cheating.
Use Flightcar for cheap price but try to record everything, because they may not keep their promise and they said there is nothing they can do afterwards. I hope this new business model can work out but the execution and service quality is just not there. Very disappointing.
My experiences are below:
I was writing today to request a reimbursement of Supplemental Liability Insurance I paid additionally to Payless Car Rental, to which Flightcar transferred me to due to nonavailability of Flightcar on 11/​12/​2015.
I know what your policy is and I understand you don’t refund any insurance purchased. But I think I still deserve the refund for the following 2 reasons:
1. I reserved a service with Flightcar and Supplemental Liability Insurance is included for free. If Flightcar failed in operation and had to switch the customer to a 3^rd party, the service should be equivalent to what the customer reserved from Flightcar. If you were saying Flightcar thinks it is correct to switch customers to a worse service (without supp liab insurance) and refuses to reimburse the supplemental liability insurance, that just sounded so wrong. I find it hard to believe if you truly disagree.
2. Before I picked up the car from Payless, I called Flightcar and asked specifically I would purchase Payless Supplemental Liability Insurance and whether it will be reimbursed. The representative told me YES, which is the reason I made the purchase. I know Flightcar recorded the phone conversations, please check the recording on 11/​12/​2015. I paid because I was promised a refund, but now Flightcar refused to refund me. That’s just not right.

Awesome experience and much cheaper option than a rental from the larger rental agencies!

My fiancé and myself used flight car for a quick trip back to the East Coast. First off it was the cheapest option out of all the rental car agencies in Newark. Second, the process couldn’t be smoother.
Once we got our bags I called over to Flightcar and spoke to one of their reps and she said that a black suburban would be there to pick me up in 20 minutes at P2. We took a quick ride on the Airtrain (MONORAIL!!!) to P2, waited and few minutes, and the Manager Mike picked us up in a clean car with happy attitude and a good story to tell.
It took us 5 mins to get over to the Flightcar center where there was another 5 mins of simple/​standard paperwork, then we got the car… I reserved the cheapest/​smallest car that they had, the fiat 500. You know what kind of car I got? A Mercedes SUV!!! For 30 bucks a day!!! Now thats a deal!
Upon return we were in and out really quick with no issues and a quick ride back to the airport with a cute and sweet girl named Deli. I hope that all Flightcar locations are this well run; if they are then you have a customer for life. Well done!

Arrived at the airport and Delli was there to pick me up within 15 minutes. She was friendly and offered great customer service. Picking up my car was quick and easy. When I dropped off my car I also had a great experience. It was quick and Delli drove me to the airport right away. Already recommended service to friends.

When I first dropped off my car, they said everything would be cover in a million dollar insurance policy. However, when I picked it up, there were scratches on my door and on the back bumper. They used all the excuses, so they didn’t have to pay a dime. Not trust-​worthy business. I won’t use it again and recommend everyone to stay away.

A super cool, user-​friendly experience… standing in P3, panicking after our car rental fell through, we were able to download the app, sign up for an account, and request a rental in about 5 minutes flat. Impressive!
Side note — I wish the app told you more in advance (even before requesting) that the pickup is at P2. This is because we took the AirTrain from P3 back to baggage claim, thinking that we would get picked up like an Über at curbside pickup, as we knew that the rental location was off-​site.
But once you hit the button to say that you’re leaving baggage claim, it does give you step-​by-​step instructions on how to get picked up (again, P2!!!), including a picture of the pick-​up area (it’s a park bench), which I appreciated.
Our guy in Newark (Mike) who handled our reservation, both pickup and dropoff, was the nicest ever. He made the ride to/​from EWR a blast… would’ve loved to chat with him for longer.
Also impressive, I even got a call from customer service HQ during the rental to make sure we had been picked up and I was having good experience. I know there have been horror stories, and I imagine it’s not a perfect system, but Flightcar saved the day.
Side note, there are also a lot of (friendly!) prostitutes hanging out outside the office at night, which explains the heavy-​duty gate and high-​fenced lot. But they’re harmless.

Awesome concept, poor execution
They took an hour to pick me up when I flew into Newark. Apparently someone called out and they had to call the manager who was half asleep when he picked me up. It was a pretty stressed filled hour of phone tag with the manager and the customer service phone reps.
The price was great and the car was great too.
But, then I came back to return the car and again it was a frustrating and cumbersome experience.
There’s only one driver and I guess I just missed her on her way to the airport (they’re offsite).
To make a long story short– from the time I dropped off the car until I reached the terminal was 35 – 40 minutes.
So, I ended up missing my flight because I was 8 minutes late to Check in.
I saw these guys on ²⁰⁄₂₀ and thought it was just a great concept. But in my case the savings were not worth the amount of stress and anxiety I had dealing with them.
**Also, I thought this was like a «cool grassroots» American company. But, they’ve already outsourced their customer service overseas and they’re awful to deal with. Boo**

One of my girlfriends and I recently used FlightCar over Halloween weekend. At first, I was a bit skeptical of the service. But we took a chance, having used other services that are similar such as AirBnB, except for your car. Overall, we had a great experience. While, my car wasn’t rented out, it was still cleaned and properly maintained. (The windows weren’t cleaned the best, but I was glad with the vacuum job.)
When you first arrive, the location isn’t in the best part of town, however, the employees make you feel safe and welcomed. When you drop off you car, you meet with someone to fill-​out some paperwork and have a walk-​around your car to check for previous bumps and scratches. Then, you get dropped at P2, not the actual terminal. Newark’s tram service is convenient and easy to use, so it’s not an issue.
On your return, you are suppose to give them a call when you land. However, I had misplaced my phone and my girlfriend was able to give FlightCar a call for me to let them know I was on my way. In return, FlightCar had someone waiting for me at P2 when I arrived.
As most new businesses, FlightCar has some kinks to work out. However with time, I strongly believe this will be a popular service.

My car — which was reconfirmed the day prior — was not available. Left without any reservation and stranded outside after a long day of travel with children, a somewhat helpful FlightCar representative made a reservation at Alamo. Now, Alamo was great, and I should have booked there directly.
FlightCar promised to refund the difference of my reservation between FlightCar and the last minute Alamo reservation. After multiple calls and emails, they are (shockingly) non-​responsive to any refund. The last minute reservation was significantly more expensive, and FlightCar required that reservation to occur full-​fare on my credit card.
So disappointing. They are NOT ready for prime time. But if you’re traveling solo, willing to deal with significant delays and added costs, then FlightCar’s possible savings might be worth it. But you’ve got to work for it, record every conversation and not the name of every person you speak with.
