We were pleasantly surprised after reading poor reviews. The tuna melt and warm chocolate chip cookie were very good. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall a very nice experience!

Ordered a veggie sandwich, bottled drink, and brownie. Sandwich was supposed to come with coleslaw + chips, but I was only given chips. Decided I’m better off not eating coleslaw so didn’t ask for it after. While eating my sandwich(which was actually good due the amount of feta cheese and the bun), I notice something suspiciously looking like meat. Server confirms that my veggie sandwich contains BACON. Excellent! I didn’t make a fuss because I’m just not the type of person to create a scene, but the server apologized and took the sandwich off the bill(still charged me for the drink and brownie).

I take particular offense to an airport restaurant claiming to have the worlds greatest hot sandwich. After much thought with the menu and reading scathing reviews on Unilocal,I knew to proceed with caution. Not to mention the slop I saw being served to my fellow bar mates. But, I must say, that a minimum investment of $ 7.29 for the BBQ chicken baked potato was descent. I wouldn’t venture to far on the menu here because it’s probably microwaved just like my potato. If you are starving and in a pinch, go for the«not the worlds greatest but tasty baked potato»!

Ordered the $ 9.50 southwest omelet, and I got grated cheese on 2… Medium size eggs? Even accounting for the airport restaurant category, this place is not worth it. Better to get food from the non-sit down places in Terminal A at Newark.

Way overpriced for a $ 12.00 sandwich. Reuben had little kraut and little meat. My compliments to the photographer who took the picture to make it look appealing for all the suckers at the airport. Won’t ever eat here again. $ 6.00 Subway blows this away any day.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had worse experiences. There’s nothing terribly wrong with Earl of Sandwich. They have tables, beer and food. It is just that the food isn’t that good. Service was adequate, but we did wait a fairly long time to get our food given that it was just sandwiches and chips. Given the other options in Terminal A, Earl of Sandwich is fine. Maybe even 3 stars. But given that I’ve eaten at restaurants before, I’ve got to dock it one.

You’ve been warned… This has to be the worst managed restaurant I’ve been to. Appropriate that it’s in the worst airport in the country

If youre starving and don’t mind waiting 15 minutes each time you need to flag down your waitress, then they have decent food and Sam Adam’s and goose island on tap. But next time is rather get the food to go than wait in that cramped space

Waitress was very rude, didn’t even speak one word! Literally none since arrival! Chicken sandwich was meh. The coleslaw not good. The best part was the chips bag. I wouldn’t try it again.

Probably the worst breakfast I have ever eaten at an airport. The eggs were fake, the breakfast potatoes were pieces of squares with zero flavor and the toast felt like a brick when I bit into it. I ordered the veggie omelette and the description said it was supposed to come with a side of fruit but I was never told they didn’t have any fruit. No jelly for the toast. Just overall sucked! If I wasn’t so hungry I would have sent everything back and walked out. Eat at your own risk but please know that I will not be eating breakfast at Mr. Earl of Sandwich ever again!

For an airport, this place is just fine. I got the full Montagu with soup, and it took a few minutes to be made and toasted. It’s odd that they have you wait back on the carpet in front of the café for your takeout order. The soup probably has your daily allowance of sodium and sugar, but that’s ok. When you need sustenance, you take what sounds good. Hot soup after a long(9+ hours) flight? Yes, please. The sandwich was just fine as well. Good amount of meat and sauce and other things, nothing out of place or too much or too little. You get chips and cole slaw too. Total was like $ 16.

Crowded with tables inches apart. Ordered the Greek salad. Hearty meal with lots of Feta and Chicken. A bit too salty because of large amounts of olives, banana peppers and feta. Staff are attentive but only serves as a place to grab a beer and a quick bit between flight connections.

Ever see those pictures of Hollywood stars without make-up in People Magazine? That’s what I equate my sandwich to. In the menu it looked awesome! In real life it looked more like hot pocket! Soup was okay, liked the iced tea. In Terminal A… What ya gonna do?

Very average. The roast beef sandwich was actually pretty good. The bread was very good too,(maybe my favorite part). The bread was warm, doughy, and crispy on the outside. It was perfect. They come with cole slaw, blah. It was a bit too runny and it was really a small cup. You also get a choice of chips. Overall, nothing too impressive. The other thing I didn’t like about the place was that it was the only sit down restaurant in Terminal A. That meant it was extremely crowded. In fact they had to start having parties share tables.

I had a quick lunch before my flight and it was packed with a 20 minute wait. The service was very quick, which is a great thing for an airport. The Montagu Sandwich was delicious.

5 stars for airport food. They let me customize a salad and it was cheaper than the salads everywhere else that were half the size and not as fresh. My husband and sister both got sandwiches and said they were great. Meat was flavorful and bread was good per them. For my salad. It was fresh and they were not skimpy with the vegetables. Service was friendly and fast.

Had the Earl of Club! Omg. That first bite was mmm mmm mhmmm delicious. Can’t get enough of it. Definitely made my morning better with a cancelled flight and now a delayed one! !! If the military wasn’t paying I would not fly United anymore! ! 4 stars because the workers were really rude to other customers who just had questions or wanted to sit while they waited.

Okay, so lets give them their dues. Lunch started out rocky, but the manager talked with me, smoothed it over and gave my final bill 10% off… okay. I ordered the pastrami reuben sandwich. It comes with chips and slaw on the side. It was awesome… but it wad the tomato soup that I added at the last moment that stole the show. Absolutely one of the best tomato soups that I have enjoyed in a long time. They are a busy restaurant, have patience, the food is fantastic. Okay, I will give you another try next time I travel through the A concourse.

I came here wanting a salad and there weren’t a ton of vegetarian choices. I ended up ordering Greek/Medetaranian salad. It came with chicken but since I was vegetarian I asked them to leave off the meat and give me more vegetables. The salad was good but the vegetables they added were primarily olives!!! I could have handled more lettuce. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE olives but this was a lot of olives. Very tasty but very salty. I thought it was intersting they serve the food on a plate, and my wine was in a glass, but the water I asked for was ina paper cup. Sort of strange. I only ate here because it was literally one of the only restaurants past security in Terminal A. My advice is to try to eat before security or bring somethign from home to eat on the plane. On the plus side, it was fairly quiet and the service was good. It was nicer than sitting by the gates but I’ve been to many better airport eateries.

I needed a quick late dinner so I decided on getting a sandwich here rather than eating a burger or having some salty Chinese food at 8:00 pm. Not expecting much I decided to order for takeout. I ordered an original 1842 beef with cheese and horseradish mayo. The sandwich came out very skimpy portion of beef. The difference between the photos on their website and what they served me should be construed as false advertising. Beef was nice and tender and the sandwich was nice and crispy but overall it was just meh. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I figured their original sandwich would be definitely a winner! It wasn’t and I’m glad it was just a late dinner under low expectations. If I was the Earl of Sandwich I’d fall out of my chair to see the quality of sandwiches done here! Edible yes, don’t go in here with high expectations as to me it’s sub mediocre airport food at best!
