This review is for the bowling league.
Absolute garbage. What a ridiculous waste of money. I just had my first week of the season today, and I’m baffled at how incredibly stupid the setup is. This is a summer league, so they didn’t even have enough people to fill up the different level leagues (casual, intermediate, etc) and decided to lump everyone together into one league. Which is fine, but we still get grouped into 6 person teams? Wtf? There were a ton of empty lanes so it’s not like space was limited. Because there are only 4 spots per game, you have to rotate out which is so fucking dumb.
And it doesn’t stop there. Each session is only two games, which is NOTHING. And they don’t even let you practice beforehand. The cheapest you can pay for the league as an individual is $ 140 for the early bird rate. For a 6 week season, that’s 12 games, which comes out to ~$ 12 per game. That’s literally the most expensive rate per game on the Frames site. What the fuck are we paying for? Beer is not even included! I got there 5 mins late and our lane had a beer tower, as did every other lane, so I assumed it was included. Never should have given zog sports the benefit of the doubt.
Again, this is just for bowling, so I can’t speak to other leagues, but this one is simply not worth it. Yeah you get to meet new people which is cool, but having fun doing the actual activity is an important aspect to the league. Get your shit together zog sports.

Zog is the best way to meet people in NYC. I joined Zog when I first moved back to NY after college and it was the best decision. I joined a random extremely casual football team hoping to meet some new friends. I didn’t know a thing about football and had zero past playing experience. After the first game I was hooked — even if you don’t know how to play the refs guide you through the rules as you go along. Nothing beats the happy hours after the games — all teams head to the bar and play drinking games and socialize. I met my current boyfriend on my first ever Zog team 5 years ago — I joined the team by myself without knowing anyone and met him in addition to all of my closest friends in NY.
Since that first season 5 years ago I’ve been playing football with Zog nonstop, even in the winters. I’ve tried Zog’s basketball, kickball, and softball leagues over the years as well and they never disappoint.
I highly recommend joining Zog to anyone looking to have a great time, get some exercise, and meet new people in NY!!!

No matter if you know all the people on your team beforehand or join as an individual, Zog is a great way to meet new people and have fun along the way.
I joined Zog about 7 years ago when I moved to New York from Texas. Not knowing anybody in the city, I owe so much to Zog for helping me make friends, be able to get outside and be active. Not to mention how great the happy hours are for mingling and networking. A majority of the best friends I have made since moving here, I’ve met through Zog football, basketball or kickball. I’ve also met my current girlfriend while playing in a Zog football league and know many people who have met their long time significant other through a Zog league.
If you are having any reservations about joining a league, throw them away and go for it. They have any kind of sport you can dream of and you’ll meet great people and have an amazing time at the happy hours after your games.

I have played in a few Zogsports leagues, mainly basketball, and have had a great experience. The last basketball league I played in was run by the same referees each week which was great. The refs were always into the game, knew the rules of basketball, AND were extremely fair. These leagues are a great way to meet new people, and blow off some steam after a long day of work. If Zogsports was a bit more affordable, I would 100% play every season!
The only con I would have to say was the first league I ever played in, the rules were not accurate as to what they said on the website. I believe it was a bit of miscommunication on both ends, but we had the idea it was strictly a co-​ed league. I spoke with Devin from Zogsports a few times and he was EXTREMELY helpful. He always had my experience and interest at heart and listened to everything I had to say. This was a con that absolutely turned into a pro the second time around. Besides that, I have nothing but great things to say about Devin and the Zog Bball leagues!

Hilariously Competitive…
I have played in Zogs sport leagues in the past (both in Queens and Manhattan) and have NEVER been disappointed. I’ve played Dodgeball, Kickball, and Wiffle Ball — yes, all the sports that I used to play as a kid, that because of Zogs, make me feel like a kid again.
I signed up for Dodgeball on Monday nights with some family and friends and it has become the highlight of the week. There is something hilariously competitive about throwing a ball as hard as you can at another adult, for no other reason than because you are allowed to. We laugh, sweat, and make fun of each other. But get to throw balls at each other — that’s hilarious…
Aside from that, even the referees and Gabi we now consider friends — when they aren’t playing against us during a free for all scrimmage. Anyway, the point is, we have a lot of fun, it’s competitive, yet relaxed — and I can’t think of a better way to spend a Monday night. If you haven’t already done so, consider joining as a team or solo — either way, you will end up with more friends by the time the league ends than before it had started — that, I can assure you.

Pushing through on a Monday has never been easier. A group of us joined a Zog dodgeball Winter league and Monday has quickly become our favorite night of the week. We always get to the gym early to warm up and fraternize with the other teams, refs and Gabi. My parents even have come in a few times from Long Island to watch us all play. After the game, if there’s still time in our hour slot, we mix the teams and play a basket dodgeball scrimmage before all teams go to a local bar that Zog organized drink specials with. We end the night there with burgers and laughs.
We just enrolled in the Spring dodgeball season and are also looking at joining the social sampler league and making more friends along the way. Thanks ZogSports and Gabi!

This is seriously an amazing organization!
In August of 2014, I moved back to New York after being in the U.S. Marines for over 11 ½ years, and really had no friends living here anymore. I have always loved intermural sports, so I searched and found Zogsports. I ended up playing kickball for my first season, and ended up with super fun teammates and had a blast. I actually ended up meeting a girl on one of the opposing teams, and we ended up dating for just a bit over a year. That would not have happened without Zog.
In December of 2014, I went to an end of the season ZOG party. While waiting at the bar, I ended up seeing someone and thought my eyes were deceiving me. It was Paul, whom I met for the first time in 2006 in Niamey, Niger in the middle of West Africa. We were both stationed as Marines there for a year along with 5 other Marines. That was almost 10 years before and thousands of miles away, but we now found ourselves drinking beers and reminiscing all because of Zog.

If you live in NYC for at least 1 year you should have a ZogSports T-​shirt. This is probably the best place to have fun and meet great people!

Joined a bowling league team with friends and everything went really well. The location and setup are perfect and they have high standards in contributing as much fun and excitement toward all the players and games.

I played co-​ed football for two years in both Queens and Manhattan. The competition was good, the players were generally nice, the games started on time, the refs were usually competent, and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend Zog if you’re looking for a football league.
One caveat: pay attention to the field location. Many of the fields are in far-​flung places that aren’t particularly convenient (Randall’s Island, Riverbank, Roosevelt Island).

Zog is awesome.
I first tried zog when I did a kickball league with co-​workers, and it was a great way to meet people within my large company. I’ve met so many fun, like-​minded people through Zog Sports. I’ve also done dodgeball and we’ve signed up for bowling as well.
Zog makes it easy to make new friends by arranging happy hour deals at local bars after the games, which is always fun.
The refs and league managers are always super friendly, super helpful, and super competent.

Zog is an awesome organization! I joined January 2008 and have played in Dodgeball, Kickball, Basketball, Football and Whiffleball leagues. I love being an adult with adult keen understanding Dodgeball.
The on the court games, rivalries and competition are fantastic. Likewise having a pint or few at the bars post game is great. I can honestly say that through Zog I’ve met some of my closest friends in the city.
It’s been amazing to watch Zog grow since 2008. It used to be that I would see someone in a Zog shirt everyone once in a while. Now it’s a weekly occurrence. Joining Zog was one of the best decisions I made when I moved to NYC and I plan on Zogging till I can’t Zog anymore!

I have been playing Zog Sports since 2008. I joined in the hopes of meeting like minded people, wanting to have a good time, while playing competitive sports. The very first season playing Zog Sports, I met a great group of people and now call them some of my closest and best friends. Then, in 2009, while playing touch football, I met the love of my life. We started dating, got engaged, and in 2013 got married.
Zog Sports is an amazing place to meet new friends. I constantly run into people all of the city. In this massive city, Zog Sports has made it almost feel like a small town to me. I would highly recommend the organization to anyone looking to have a good time, wants to get active, and who may want to meet amazing people in the process.

I’ve made more great professional connections, not to mention FRIENDS, playing Zog the last 3 years than all the networking events I’ve attended in the city combined. Even my opponents say hello on the subway. There’s something extra special about beating someone on a football field and then beating them again in beer pong after the game.

I’ve been playing in ZogSports leagues for about 2 years, and have participated in many sports (softball, basketball, dodgeball). My company also did a field day event through them as well. ZogSports is a great way to play a sport you enjoy while making friends along the way. ZogSports provides competitive leagues but with a social atmosphere.
I definitely recommend ZogSports if you are looking to play a sport, either competitively or casually, want to compete with a group of friends, and/​or make new friends with similar interests.

I have been playing with ZogSports for over 5 years now, and I love it. I have played basketball, softball, football, dodge ball, volleyball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee and bowling with zog, and I have always had a great time! If there is a sport you want to play you should be able to find it with zogsports.
Zog is a great way to get out and get active and meet poeple. I meet so many people and have made a lot of friends thru ZogSports, even some of my best friends now I met on a team thru ZogSports. I join by myself all the time and always get a fun team and great people. I like to join and play just to meet people and a good reason to be active.
The zog sports staff is great as well, from the refs all the way to the founder, I have meet most of them and they are all friendly, fun, and really helpful. They want to make sure you have a good time while you are in the league. Not to mention their great end of season parties!
I have played with their competitors as well, and zog just does it better. And with the different levels of play there is something for everyone. Weather you are really competitive and want to win, or just out to meet people and hang out at the bar after, I would highly recommended joining ZogSports. If you’re scared to join on your own, then you can join with friends as well, so why wait?

Zog is an amazing organization. Not only has our company used them for organized sports, but we had them help us organize a big field day for our employees. It was a huge success and everyone had the best time!
The follow up from Zog was immediate and thorough, as they were open to any and all feedback we had to offer, good and bad (though there wasn’t much bad!). Sure, there were certain events of the day that could have been organized slightly more efficiently, but their effort was spot on and it was clear they want to do nothing but improve.
We will absolutely continue to work with Zog in as many ways as we can in the future and we would recommend them to anyone looking to have fun and add a special component to their company’s culture.

If the words kickball, dodgeball, and wiffle ball put a smile on your face, Zogs is for you.
As a long time Zogger (6 years) I can honestly say that Zogs is undoubtedly the most well run, organized, and fun social sports league in New York City! The other leagues are sub par, specifically in lack of quality of the operation, a higher price, and less options available.
Zogs is a lifestyle in New York City. It represents a larger being of fun loving, young, and adventurous New Yorkers. Many of my favorite pastimes in the city relate to Zogs whether it be in a game, playing an intense game of flip cup, or through a friendship that flourished from a teammate.
When given the choice, I would Zog everytime.

I have played Zogsports in New York City now for close to a decade. Side by side with other leagues I have played in (the Chinatown soccer league, Urban Professionals basketball, Chelsea Piers basketball, and more), Zog is hands down the best there is. Here’s why:
Im competitiive.
I was a multi-​sport athlete in college (I played soccer, basketball, and tennis), so needless to say once I left school and moved to NYC I wanted to find a sports league that had multiple sports, all of which were at my level. Zog is certainly the right place if you play a variety of sports, and definitely has enough levels of play for every type of player.
I also want to have fun.
Not only is the competitiveness at a good level, but the people are solid too. In other leagues (like Chelsea Piers), you get a lot of chest pumping and trash talking – I cant stand half of the guys there. Most Zoggers are there to be competitive, but have fun while they do it. There’s a certain kind of player at Zog, and they are the positive, fun players, not the psychos. I’ve made many new friends through Zog along the way.
I want organization and good business.
In terms of all the bells and whistles, Zog has solid league organization, competent refs, and everything happens on time. I won’t mention any league names, but this isn’t true for other competitors in NYC.

I played a few seasons of flag football with Zog while living in NYC and LOVED it. After many years of play, our team retired this year.
I reached out to Danny, Director of Partnerships & Business Development, in need of a favor. He went above and beyond to help me out. I was so impressed by his quick response and ability to fulfill my request.
The staff we interacted with on the fields were always dedicated to making the leagues fun, fair, and engaging… and it’s great to see that this is true at the corporate level as well.

Best Recreational sports league in NYC. I’ve been playing intramural sports since college (4years ago… that sucks). Since living in NYC I’ve played in 3 different leagues with the same group of friends. We keep coming back to Zog for a few reasons: they’re very well organized, have great locations for games, are accommodating to our team, and have great staff. Jody, one of Zog’s full time employees was the most helpful when I went to pick up
My shorts this season. He even told me a joke and gave me a shot of whiskey! Tori, the kickball league manager sends out frequent league updates, and really does everything she can to ensure the league runs without a hitch. The refs they hire are fair, and the people who play in this league are the most fun of the various leagues I’ve tried.

I’ve been playing with Zogsports for four years and I have nothing but good things to say. I’ve played with a number of different NYC leagues and always seem to come back to Zogs. There’s nothing like playing kickball on Roosevelt Island with a stunning view of the city followed by an after party with other teams.
To their credit, what is most impressive about the league is how well run and organized it is. Communication is key in ensuring games go off without a hitch and Zogs does it better than anyone. The staff is always friendly and the game referees are fair and respectful. My team usually signs up with a core group of players and absorbs free agents to fill remaining spots on the roster. The staff is always instrumental in helping us find great people to join our team. A special thanks to Jody and Tori for their help this past season.
Overall a super fun league at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to get involved in intramural sports or casually meet (and party with) new friends.

Well run, super fun, and a great way to meet people. I joined my schools alumni team and they made everything really easy. Our ref was really professional and friendly and made sure the game ran exactly as scheduled. It’s a bit expensive for only a 6 game season, but if you have more team members the cost per person obviously decreases. All of the proceeds go to charity, so that’s hard to complain about!

As someone who have been involved with the company Zogsports for the past ten years I feel like I am highly qualified to write a review for this Social Sports League.
I started with a few friends on a whim playing dodgeball. We didn’t even plan to be competitve, we were just really pumped up about the happy hour that is coordinated with leagues. Fast forward to this day and I can say that I have countless friends that I have met through playing the tons of sports and activities that they offer.
There focus here is to have fun and to play for the charity of your choosing. There are many different difficulty levels to satisfy a range of skill levels, from beginner to hardened veterans.
The best part is the happy hour where you get to mingle with the teams that you compete against. Great place to meet new people or have fun with your team. Many leagues all over NYC and in NJ.

Zog is a very well run and organized company. Any interaction I have had with the staff has only been pleasant and have always answered my questions promptly. I’ve played both softball and soccer and both leagues were great. Some reviewers have complained about the schedule being done last minute and the different times/​locations each week. Yes, that is an issue but to be fair, I’m sure making the schedule each season is difficult and takes a lot of work. Plus, they have to give people time to sign up. How much earlier can they post a schedule? I have noticed that while the times change each week, the locations are becoming more consistent which is great.
You can also sign up for different levels of beginner and expert pay. One thing I’d like to see improved are the post game bars. There is very little mingling outside of your team but when I crash NYCSocial Happy hours, it’s one huge party. Why can’t Zog have that?
I signed up for a soccer team in early 2014 and put on a team with a bunch of other free agents. Some joined with a friend and others not. However, we all became best friends and have played/​drank together ever since. Show up to the games and go out with your team after. It’s the best way to connect. I also played softball which was fun too but playing two sports at once was incredibly tiring and too hectic. Softball also fills up really fast and when one team dropped out, I got really lucky making it off the waitlist. I signed up for kickball as a back up and Zog let me transfer my kickball fee to my softball fee.
No matter who you are, there is a sport for you. I highly recommend joining a league if you are new to the city and want to make new friends.

Randomly and hesitantly signed up for kickball with a friend last summer and have signed up for ZogSports literally every season since! Kickball was great to get my feet in the water and make some friends and branch out, but I wasn’t the biggest fan. I like to keep active and kickball was lots of standing around so it was just not for me.
Since then, I’ve done soccer every season, a season of volleyball, and cornhole. Great setups. For soccer there are a few refs that aren’t so great, but it happens. Brett is the best, great ref and just an overall nice guy!
They also put together tournaments every once in a while. For soccer, I participated in the Zog Cup (mock world cup but a one day tournament). My team got out after the first few short games but it was still a fun time and nice work Zog does putting it all together.
As it has been said in previous reviews, GREAT way to stay active and socialize.

I tried Zog when I first moved to the city for kickball. I certainly had a good time with my random hodge podge of a team. Most times we barely had enough players to come which made us forfeit and go to the bar. As this league was on Saturdays it was basically the entire day spent drinking which at my age (30 at the time) I find to be a bit of a waste of a day. The teams’ ages definitely skew younger (about 22 – 23) so it’s a bit tough to relate to these younger kids.
I tried looking for a soccer league to get in better running shape but have not been able to find a convenient league. The locations are terrible (Roosevelt Island??) and the times are no better. I work late some days and really have no energy during the week. It would be nice if they had the co-​ed soccer league on Saturdays. I’ll probably go back if the schedules and locations improve. Overall a decent experience aside from those gripes.
