Wahoo’s shrimp burrito is OFFTHEHOOK, but as others have mentioned in their reviews, the service is awful, and can be painfully slow. I’ve been to Wahoo’s on 3 separate occasions; on one occasion, I received my order within 10 minutes, and I was a happy camper chomping away at the shrimp burrito. The other 2 times were painful waits. So painful that I missed 2 meetings because they took so long. Each time, the manager would acknowledge me and say«it’s coming right up.» BULLSHYT. He knew the kitchen was extremely backed up, and instead of being honest, kept me and a group of 10+ others waiting for food that never came. I ended up asking for my money back(manager didn’t even apologize when I did this), and I believe the 10+ others also asked for their money back as well. Overall, I think that Wahoo’s is a waste of time, no matter how good their shrimp burrito is.

The only vegetarian protein on the menu is tofu, but it can be subbed for meat on almost anything on the menu. Don’t forget to ask for cheese to be left off if you’re vegan, which I almost did.(Was it intentional because I miss having cheese? I’ll never tell!) Their Banzai Burrito was small for $ 7, but bomb-diggity delicious with beans, brown rice, and the«Banzai Veggies» which are teriyaki bell peppers, onions, zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, and cabbage. The menu does say that the sauce is homemade so I assume it’s not loaded with salt and preservatives. You order at the counter but get a card with your order number to affix above your table, and one of their super-friendly staff will bring the food to you. My only regret is not getting the salad my friend did which for $ 2 more was a hell of a lot more food than my burrito. The bathrooms were kind of dirty, but fits the grungy skater boy vibe of this place. It’s is a world apart from anything else you’ll find on Park Ave. For decent Tex-Mex and cheap drinks in the Flatiron area, Wahoo’s is a winner!

Their happy hour is until 9pm on weekends which is awesome. $ 5 draft beer big wave(very light). $ 3 jäger shots and 7– something for one taco with rice and beans. It’s not super filling but it’s tasty! The meat in my taco was flavorful and juicy– how it should be!

Firstly I came in on Cinco De Mayo, and the bartender Amanda was a beast! She managed the bar like a pro… no glasses, no problem we have plastic… no ice… no problem… She took orders from a packed bar, created beer specials from what she had in stock, and even bused food! Amanda deserves a raise and a few nights off! Great tacos, great service, no attitudes and just a great overall place!!! Kudos!

I came here one 2 occasions was my original draft. Now, I’ve came here on 3 occasions. But it was really the 2nd time I came that I really got a feel for the place. The location was a bit of a walk from Flatiron but I did it anyway seeing that I had 1 hr for a walkaway lunch on set that day. I checked in and I was immediately offered — 1 Free Landshark beer FU-KYES. It wasn’t a full pint but it was big enough for a good swig and plenty for a lunch. AMAZINGFU-KING tacos! ***UPDATE — The FREE Landshark Beer is now for Shock Top. The tacos were still delicious and on point. Carne Asada Enchilada, and the Cajun + Grilled Chicken Cole Slaw Tacos = heaven. If you are in the Flatiron area, this place doesn’t disappoint.

Went for lunch on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating available, so if you are with a group of people, it’s not bad So. the food: exactly a 3 star rating. Not bad but not that great either. I got the main entrée of 2 tacos or enchiladas with rice and beans. The cashier was chill and let me get 1 fish(cajun) taco and 1 carne asada enchilada. It was a good full amount of food for $ 9.50. The fish wasn’t that great. A little dry. I’ve had better fish tacos elsewhere. The enchilada was a little better though. Waiting in line to order the food took forever. We stood in line for about 20min with only 6 people in front of us. However, the food came out pretty quick!(and you don’t have to pay tip, which is nice) Would I go back here again? probably not, unless I was in the area and craving mexican food… but it wasn’t bad for a one time experience.

I’ve been to many Wahoo’s in California, and am glad to report that the food at this Wahoo’s is just as good as any in SoCal or NorCal. They provide more healthier options than the average Mexican food chain, and the prices are low. There is one downside. At this particular Wahoo’s the service is inconsistent. One of the bartenders is very on top of things and considerate while the other bartender is less aware and seems to have trouble doing multiple tasks at once. The cashier who is usually in is also very prompt and helpful.

I enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was very nice. I can’t finish the combo but my boyfriend enjoyed the rest of my lunch. The combo came with two tacos, brown rice and black beans. The brown rice was a little too hard for me and a bit too spicy. The fish in my taco was a little dry and too salty for me and it was cold. All in all I would give it a few more tries just because of the nice service an the casual atmosphere.

If you work in the neighborhood, this is a good space to unwind. The service at the tables are a bit slow but they open the door up on nice days. We had some drinks and chips and salsa. I haven’t had Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, but it’s nice to see a West Coast establishment on the East Coast. I really liked the live music on Friday night. I forgot his name, but he plays really good covers.

You are in the neighborhood? You want something different for lunch? Jump in here! Get on line. Pick your protein– chicken breast(grilled or cajun), carnitas(braised port), carne asada(grilled marinated steak), fish(grilled or cajun), shrimp, or tofu(sauteed with spicy Teriyaki). Pick you entrée, pay, get a number, have a seat, put your number tag on the stick and in seconds your food arrives! I got the #2 Two Tacos with cajun fish, brown rice, and black beans($ 8.73) — plenty of food for lunch, the two tacos were good, especially with the green sauce. Brown rice is a little under cooked, the beans were good. Rated: 4⁄5. The décor is fun! Service was quick. Ask for water and you’ll get an empty 24oz cup at the cashier!

Horrible horrible horrible horrible service. ABSOLUTELYAWFUL! We waited about 5 – 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us.(There were maybe 4 other parties being tended to. Relatively empty.) It took her another 5 minutes to come back to our table with water and a set of menus. The party next to us told me that they waited over 40 minutes for their burrito and tacos. We grabbed our belongings and shimmy’ed our way out. I’ve been to Wahoo’s twice now, and both times I walked out because of the awful service. Do yourself a favor and go to Chipotle instead.

Taco Tuesdays! Found a new spot to go after work on Tuesdays. 3 Dollar coronas, tequila shots, and $ 2.50 Tacos. Friendly service, lots of tables cheap tacos and drinks. What more can I say? I’m a Fan!

I’ve really lost patience with Wahoo’s. While the food is good, the service just keeps getting worse. We’ll place an order for takeout and some of the items are not in the bag, or the cashier misunderstands the clearly enunciated, and not hard to understand, request. Today the cashier tried to tell me they don’t sell a large order of half rice, half beans. This appears on the printed menu & the website. It is listed on the large menu billboard that appears above cash registers. I’ve ordered it several times. And even though I repeated my order THREETIMES they still managed to get it wrong. I came in at noon, it’s not as if I caught them after a long, hard day & their mojo is off. There’s no excuse, Wahoo’s. None.

After the disastrous trip to Live Bait the night before, I was hesitant to go there but my husband talked me into it. After all, it was his birthday so I felt he should get to decide despite his trying to leave the decision to me. Food is pretty good but the margarita we got as part of my husband’s birthday certificate wasn’t good. Maybe it was just too alcohol tasting for my pallet. After all, I don’t drink & remember having good margaritas that weren’t nearly so heavy on the alcohol. It also wasn’t served in a margarita glass. The grilled chicken was a little bland but the rice and beans in the rice bowl I had were good. I liked the mix of everything & that there were no awful surprise ingredients in my dish(as some places like to do). They apparently also have free trivia on Saturday nights that starts at 5 and has prizes. With my husband being a huge fan of this place, we’ll definitely be back sometime.

Always in pursuit of the most scrumptious fish taco that isn’t fried but still melts in my mouth, leaving the desire to devour as much as I can… I think I’ve met my match. I’ve heard a lot and read so many reviews on Wahoo’s but I never got around to trying it. It’s usually going to be a problem when I walk into a place and want to order one of everything on the menu. Just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get any better, Taco Tuesday and Thirsty Tuesdays just upped the ante. $ 1.00 off on any detectable soft taco, $ 2 tequila shots, $ 2 beers. Sipping a cool drink on a hot day, surrounded by the murals of the beach and tons of surf-wear, in a such a chill atmosphere, I don’t think I’m going back to work. It was a grueling decision but I restrained myself to ordering a cajun and grilled fish taco and a shrimp taco AND chips and salsa with guacamole. This is honestly the best grilled fish taco I’ve had in a while. It was well seasoned, perfectly portioned and was not submerged by a plethora of taco condiments. Some places offer you a pitiful amount of fish(or meat of your choice) and it usually gets buried by a salad; I can assure you it doesn’t happen here. :-) Service was fast and the rest of my meal was fairly decent. They will definitely see my face again.

The food isn’t amazing. But hey… the prices are pretty great and the service is fast! and the fact that the guy at the counter is a TOTAL stoner makes me feel like I’m at a beach side taco place. The big kahuna for 12 bucks is a solid lunch and I would defiantly order it again.(big burrito, one taco, some rice, beans, salsa and hot sauce) I also did the taco sampling(pork, beef, shrimp, fish) and surprisingly my favorite was the fish. But if you want to know the real reason this place is amazing besides all that, Its because of Taco Tuesday. All the tacos are priced down from 3.50 to 2.50. The tecates are 2 $ and the tequila shots are 2 $. That’s a 4 $ Mexican beer shot combo. Where you gonna beat that?!

Wahoo’s is an awesome joint in this area. The décor alone(boards on the wall, etc) makes you almost feel like you’ve stepped out of Manhattan and into So Cal. The staff must be taught to drop words like«awesome» and«dude.» But those are definitely good things! The food here is decent, and I would say it’s even better than the overpriced food they serve at the«upscale» Dos Caminos a couple blocks north. I just wish they didn’t charge extra for the tortilla chips & salsa. My favorite is a couple chicken tacos a la carte, with chips & salsa. The salad with chicken & salsa is also great. If you’re going for lunch during the week, call your order in, and you can bypass the line!

My colleague and I waited 2.5 hours for our take-out food. Worst part is – we work less than a block away. Still not sure why it took so long for the food to arrive. In the end, we walked down the street to pick it up – after being asked to wait another 20 minutes. The grilled taco bowl was really unimpressive. Dry fish and no flavor. Only reason I’m giving this place two stars over one is because they ultimately comped our meal and gave us vouchers for 4 free tacos. But this service and food was totally unacceptable.

The worst of the worst when it comes to Mexican(Tex-Mex) in NYC. What a waste! It was the driest burrito I’ve had since moving to NYC… not to mention the driest rice and beans. Nasty! The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because the margaritas were okay and the customer service was good. As for ambiance, well, there’s not much there… and this place is located on Park Avenue! Go figure! Inside is more like a tikki hut crossed with a sports bar. Very odd… and not very inviting.

A change of pace meal that I occasionally look forward to. As I am in dieting and training mode for summer season I have to make do and constantly improvise when hitting up a restaurant for a meal. Wahoo’s offers a unique take on fish that can easily be mixed and matched for my diet and palate demands. Today’s meal was grilled fish over a Wahoo’s salad. Just ask for no guacamole and have the roasted pepper cilantro on the side. Even though there are some corn tortilla strips and a sprinkling of cheese on it those are easily pushed aside on the plate. Salsa is also on it which offers some extra flavor. I actually enjoy the grilled wahoo and the way it is prepared here. Flaky but not dry, and flavorful. I have also had the grilled fish on a bed of rice and black beans. So good! Everything I have tried here is made very fresh, and the menu is large enough that you can have anything from tacos to burritos to bowls to vegan. Even a kids menu. Spot-on price points for the food quality. A little over $ 10 for my plate and diet coke with free refills. Tasty tasty stuff! The décor here is «surfer dude chic». Tons of surf-vibe tsotchke’s, skateboards, pictures, posters, surf boards, murals, bicycles, etc. Large surfboard on the bar lists the happy hour specials and the decent selection of beers that range from Shock Top, to Abita, to Victory and Six Point. With price points in the $ 3, $ 4, and $ 5 range happy hour at Wahoo’s will not break the bank. Great spot for after work drinks. The bartenders and staff that work here are pretty friendly with terrific service. The place itself exudes a laid back chill vibe. Wonderful mosaic behind the bar that makes you feel as if you are somewhere on the west coast by the waterfront near the Pacific. Be warned though as it has increased in popularity it can get packed for lunch hours. If this place had outside seating on a back patio it would be perfect. Casual, laid back, good food, cold beer, chill. Give me a hammock and I would never leave.
