On Monday someone gave me a goodie box full of mini and full size cupcakes: red velvet, key lime and carrot. How good is this place? On Saturday evening I stood in line with about twelve people ahead of me and waited patiently to purchase the last nine key lime cupcakes and the last two 4“red velvet cakes. That should pretty much sum up how good their baked goods are. I will say that the red velvet cupcakes taste better than the cake. The cupcakes were tasty, the cake was bland. I was surprised it had no flavor. The cream cheese frosting was good though. It tasted homemade, just like my mom’s. I’d love for the cakes/cupcakes to come with the option of nuts! I’m definitely a fan. If you have a sweet tooth and need a fix, stop in for a few cupcakes. A minimum of half dozen is a must. If you have to stand in line, although worth the wait, why not get more than just two minis? Go big or go home!

Seriously, this place deserves more starts! The baked goods are the best in the City! Not a dry cupcake or cake in sight! Anything you get, you will not be disappointed. Although I love chocolate and the Blackout cupcake. The Key Lime cupcake(Yes, cupcake) has become one of my favorites.

Couldn’t stay away from this for long! I came back here with my SO on a Sunday evening to share the delicious goodness with him. Unlike my previous visit, there was a line up to the door but the wait was not long. There were about 4 people working behind counter and they worked diligently to get the orders and process the transactions. I decided to try the mini version of the Boston cream cupcake this time in addition to the regular sized carrot cake. I remain impressed with the carrot cake flavor, but the Boston crème was slightly lacking. I was hoping for some delicious custard oozing out, but unfortunately that did not happen because it was sitting in the refrigerator. I think after coming back here for a second visit, I would like to see more variety in the baked goods that they sell. They sell cookies and some pie, but I would like to see options of pies and cookies. Maybe they could include some unconventional flavors on their menu as well?

Let me start this off my saying I’m a huge foodie, cupcake lover, and currently pregnant. On my most recent doctor’s appointment I had an hour to kill so I decided to Unilocal any nearby bakeries and get myself a decent cupcake as that’s what I’ve been craving. Their blackout cake is AMAZING! I now need a dozen of them and would like a cake for my birthday thanks. It is moist, rich, and not too sweet. It’s perfection. At first I thought they were a little pricey, but for the size, taste, and location they are right on point. I also greedily tried their cherry cheesecake. I am not a big cheesecake fan but it was delicious. Smooth, creamy, and perfect balance of cream cheese. It’s a nice sized piece and would probably be enough to feed two people or one pregnant woman with a huge sweet tooth craving. Will be going back on my next doctor’s visit to try the other cupcake flavors.

The short: AMAZING cheesecake After a morning at Cooper Hewitt, I headed over here to see what kind of selections they have. I did not want a cupcake and came across the New York Cheesecake, sitting there taunting me. I had no idea that I wanted it and ended up realizing there was a subconscious craving for something very New York. I took the slice with me to Central Park and ate it there. I opened the box and wondered why there was a cup there, and I realized so it was so that the cake stands upright without toppling over. As soon as my fork slid down the height of the cake, I brought the piece to my mouth and happily ate it, moving it from side-to-side while relishing the well-formed crust that crumbles easily in my mouth, along with the softness of the cake. I had a blissful time eating every single bite and would actually recommend sharing this with somebody as it’s a really big piece. Will I go back just to get the cheesecake? Why yes, yes I would. And you should too.

I Unilocal up desserts close by and this popped up. It was 9:30pm and this was still opened which was great. A lot others was closing already. I decided to come here. There was already a line out the door and I see 3 – 4 workers behind the counter. 1 doing the payment and 2 – 3 girls assisting the customers so the line went pretty quick. I saw reviews and everyone raved about their cheesecakes & blackout cupcakes. Unfortunately they were sold out of the cheesecakes! Darn! Okay, next step is getting my hands on them cupcakes! I order the Coconut Crème, Boston cream, carrot cake, and blackout cupcakes. And I must say the blackout and Boston cream was my favorite! The cake was so moist and fluffy it just melted in your mouth! Goes about $ 2 – 5 a cupcake depending on regular or mini size. Paid about $ 17 for the 4 regular sized and totally worth it. Loved it! Y’all gotta try !!

As a self proclaimed cupcake fanatic(I literally get cupcakes every single weekend.) I appreciate this bakery. With so many red velvet reviews, it was obvious what my order was going to be. Red velvet and peanut butter swirl! The red velvet cake itself was moist and tasty. The frosting was on the lighter side for cream cheese frosting, but still good. The flavor paired perfectly with the cake. The peanut butter swirl cupcake was rich and delicious! I loved that the peanut butter in the middle was crunchy. However, I think I like the ron bennington at Molly’s better though. Update: Got the Brooklyn Blackout. WOAH! Chocolately bliss. Normally I don’t like chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting, but this cupcake was perfection. I honestly think it was better than the peanut butter filled cupcake because the pudding made it much more moist and soft. DELISH! That being said, I wouldn’t say these cupcakes are mind blowingly amazing and better than magnolias and sprinkles like other reviews say. They are definitely good; but I wasn’t amazed.

WOW this bakery is AMAZING I got a crazy sweet tooth and have been to a fair share of bakeries and I think this one goes to the top of the list. Usually a bakery has a specialty and focused on that item or two. The rest of the items they offer are good but just average. Nope not here. I have tried the apple pie, Boston cream cupcake, and red velvet cupcake. All of these were the real deal and delicious. They had the perfect balance of ingredients and not too sweet, just right. The Boston cream cupcake was my favorite item and probably the best cupcake I’ve ever had. The chocolate and custard reminded me of a cake my grandma made. Yooo Key Lime Pie, you’re next.

Yeaa, this place is worth the hype. Small shop with an assortment of cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cheesecake, and drinks. Luckily on a rainy wednesday afternoon this spot was not crowded. Ordered one Brooklyn Blackout cupcake and a Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl cupcake($ 4 each). A little expensive, but supremely creamy icing on top of a crumbly moist cake. Didn’t realize these large suckers were filled with even more cream on the inside — bonus! Service here is fast and extremely friendly. As mentioned, many other things to try, so will be back.

Not bad… not bad at all. We went here after a long day at the Met. We actually thought that if we walked at least a few blocks away from the museum we might escape the Sunday afternoon crowds. NOPE… really crowded, with a line outside the door. Luckily we were able to snag one of the few tables in this tiny place. But it was still uncomfortable. We had a few mini-cupcakes and a slice of cheesecake which were all done reasonably well. We might go back if we were in the neighborhood and there’s not a long line…

Best cupcakes in NYC as evident by the long(but quick) lines. There are two separate lines for ordering and paying/receiving. Make sure you are on the right one. The Brooklyn Blackout is their signature cupcake and an amazing treat for any chocolate lover! I love the chocolate pudding in the center. Well done, 2Hens, well done! Another reason why Two Little Red Hens have the best cupcakes: you can actually enjoy their frosting without getting a toothache from the sugar! Their swiss buttercream frosting are light, fluffy, and smooth. The cream cheese frosting is tart and velvety. Neither one are too rich and sweet. I wish more cupcake bakeries would realize that their frostings are too sweet and ruin the eating experience. The mini bite-size cupcakes here are a tad pricey($ 1.75) compared to the original size($ 3 – 4) but a great way to sample all their cupcake flavors! I tried 5 flavors: brooklyn blackout, vanilla chocolate and yellow vanilla(buttercream frosting) and red velvet and carrot cake(cream cheese frosting). I CANNOT choose just one favorite! Best cupcakes in NYC, if I haven’t mentioned that already!

I just became a fan of their New York style cheesecake!!! So so so good!!! Not overly sweet nor deadly dry, and it has a touch of saltiness. The texture is smooth, soft, and moist. One word: amazing! Gotta try their cupcakes next time and hope they can turn me into liking cupcakes. Btw, the guy worked there told me that they don’t do the customized fancy beautiful cakes anymore, because of the overwhelming volume of orders. Right now they only have cheesecakes, cupcakes, and 6″ pre-made cakes.

Great dessert place !! We got the cheesecake and they went to the back to grab us a big slice. Their hot apple cider was delicious as well ! There’s not too much seating though so we took it to go. Also lines can get long fast.

This bakery is a must-see spot if you’re ever in the Upper East Side area. Seating is limited(there are four tables, one of which is a high standing table), but I’m glad I was able to grab a high table with chairs for myself and a friend. There was a steady stream of people lining up to get their desserts during the two-hour long conversation she and I had in the early evening. For my first time at this bakery, choosing the key lime cupcake was a nice choice– the key lime frosting had a whipped cream cheese consistency, and the vanilla flavored bottom had the perfect consistency– spongy and moist. It was a rather large cupcake, too– about the size of an adult’s palm. I got a large earl grey tea with my cupcake, and I felt thankful that the staff behind the counter accommodated my request for some cold water in my tea to make it more warm– one of them displayed their understanding by mentioning that their hot water is boiling hot. I felt thankful for the extra ice cubes they gave me to ensure that my tea was warm. I definitely want to visit this bakery again, to try a slice of their cakes, perhaps. It seems like cupcakes are their specialty, but trying a different type of dessert here will be interesting.

What a cute bakery! Small, but really homey and welcoming. A couple small tables right in front, and if it were crowded and a line formed, it would definitely bleed into the entire place or even out the door! However, around rush hour on a Wednesday evening, it was quiet and calm here. I was able to peruse the items comfortably, and not feel rushed. I have to say that everything in the display case looks mouth watering. Wonderful presentation, especially their full sized cakes. On a Wednesday evening at 6:30PM, their cupcake display wasn’t as abundant as it might be earlier in the day? The mini cupcakes were adorable! some of them had funny shaped tops, but whatever, you can’t go wrong with a mini cupcake! Got two mini vanilla/vanilla, because they didn’t have any full sized ones, and one mini blackout to give it a try. And lastly, one vanilla/chocolate. They were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. I didn’t care for the Blackout, even though I thought I would have loved all of that chocolate! I guess to me it just didn’t live up to the hype. But overall, a solid cupcake, and I might come back if I were in the area. Not to mention the girls serving/ringing you up are super sweet, nice, and patient. Good customer service goes a long way!

My favorite red velvet cake of all time is sold here! I started experiencing the delightful cupcakes with a decadent cream cheese frosting and moist cake nearly eight years ago when I worked in a nearby school and the kids would bring in these cupcakes to the class for birthday celebrations. I began work outside of the area about 4 years ago and now luckily am back to working only a block away from the bakery! For my 30th birthday I ordered 60 mini cupcakes which were perfect for bringing to the bar. The flavors I ordered were banana, carrot, and red velvet which all come with a cream cheese frosting, Brooklyn blackout which has a rich and creamy chocolate frosting with chocolate cake, and regular vanilla buttercream cupcakes on vanilla cake. The vanilla buttercream is the only one they could change the frosting color on so I asked for a purple frosting(my fav color)! The color change is an extra $ 5 charge so please do note that. The mini cupcakes are $ 1.75 each which I consider a pretty good price. All of the cupcakes were delicious and fit perfectly in a cupcake tower. I also had some mini champagne bottle candles adorn the tower which I bought at the bakery for $ 6.75. They have so many baked goods here it’s hard to choose: from pies, cheesecakes, scones, cookies, three different sized cakes, two sizes for cupcakes, even banana bread! It is always pretty packed so have your order ready for faster service. I love ordering their 4inch red velvet cake which looks small but is really thick so that it can feed up to eight people and maybe more for the affordable price of $ 15. Even people who don’t care for sweets have really enjoyed this cake! I can’t avoid coming back it is the best bakery I have ever been to!

You’re never too old for a cupcake, but sometimes I feel like cupcakes are for children. I don’t know why… maybe because they bring up memories of school bake sales, or because they’re individually wrapped in paper so kids don’t have to use any forks or plates, or maybe because of the childlike way a lot of them are decorated. I used to think I wasn’t a fan of cupcakes, because I think of those stale grocery store baked goods that turned me off from cupcakes. Thank goodness Two Little Red Hens is one of those bakeries that reminded me that delicious cupcakes do exist. This is a small bakery with just 2 or 3 tables, all of which had been commandeered by a couple of families. We initially wanted to share a slice of cake, but it doesn’t look like they sell slices, so cupcakes it is then. Since there weren’t any seats available, cupcakes were an even better travel friendly option. Cupcakes are $ 4, which is expensive, but they are monstrously huge. The mini cupcakes are $ 1.75 each, which equates to $ 1.75 per bite. All the cupcakes I’ve tried were incredibly moist with rich flavors. These are definitely the kind of desserts you can sink your teeth into. Brooklyn Blackout — chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, fudge frosting: great cupcake if you love chocolate on chocolate. The cool pudding center is the star of the cupcake. Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl — chocolate cake, crunchy PB buttercream filling, PB chocolate fudge swirl frosting: transfixed by the swirly frosting, tastes even better than it looks. The filling is so creamy. Peanut butter just makes everything more rich, and adds a bit of a savory element to all the sweetness. Mini Boston Cream — chiffon cake, vanilla pastry cream filling, fudge & chocolate glaze with chocolate shavings: also delicious, but I couldn’t help but think this would be better in regular size, so there would be a better ratio of cake to filling. We also got a latte, but it was pretty weak. It tasted more like milk with a hint of coffee. Luckily, milk goes great with baked goods. We initially just wanted to try one thing, but the line was long and service was slow. The line extended near the doorway, so I want to estimate about 8 – 10 people. It is a very small bakery after all. Entering the bakery to actually ordering at the front of the line took about 20 minutes. So after all that waiting, we ended up with 3 cupcakes. I figure 1 cupcake for about every 6 minutes makes it worth the wait. I admit I would come back and do it all over again. Good thing this bakery opens relatively early and closes later than most other bakeries. If I find myself in this area, I’d like to try the red velvet and carrot cake cupcakes next time.

Came here for the oft written about Red Velvet Cupcakes, even though I must admit that isn’t my normal cup of tea. The cupcakes are good but I stumbled upon the best cheesecake I have ever had in my life. So delicious I forgot to capture it in a photograph. Come here, get the cheesecake, and take a picture for me. I appreciate it.

I live so close to this place but I come so infrequently. That needs to change! As always, the cupcakes and cheesecakes Two Little Red Hens produces are heavenly. My friend was coming to visit me on the Upper East Side so as a treat for trekking so far, I went and bought ourselves a red velvet cupcake, a banana cupcake and a cherry cheesecake. Everything was so good! Both cupcakes were super soft and moist. The red velvet represented the classic red velvet cupcake, perfectly balanced with the cream cheese icing. Tangy and sweet at the same time. The banana cupcake was bomb. I am a huge fan of banana bread products so this hit the spot for me. The banana was nice and prominent in the bite, countered by the fluffy, not too dense cream cheese icing. Perfection. Not one element overwhelmed the other. It was a great balance of flavor. As for the cherry cheesecake, the topping was not too sweet which I appreciated and full of that cherry flavor with big cherry pieces all around. The cheesecake itself was super soft, accompanied by the crunchy crust. Every bite simply melted in my mouth. I must eat more and more!
Très très bon cheesecakes, pas forcément bon marchés(entre 3 et 4 $ la slice), mais à tester! Les cupcakes en revanche sont moins inoubliables, essayez ceux de Magnolia Bakery!
