History
Established in 2009.
The Standard, New York is located in the Meatpacking District, a neighborhood that has recently transformed into one of New York City’s hottest neighborhoods to eat, drink, and dance. The fourth Standard hotel is the first hotel in the André Balazs Properties portfolio that was built from the ground up. The property incorporates a century’s worth of architectural history into one structure as it straddles the city’s former elevated train line that has been converted to the High Line Park.
The structure of the building was developed in a way to blend into the fabric of the neighborhood. The base of the building, most notably The Standard Grill, is an aesthetic homage to a classic 20th Century New York while the rooms and top floor of the hotel are decidedly modern with a mix of styles. Each of the hotel’s 338 Scandinavian inspired guestrooms and suites have breathtaking views of the Hudson River and the New York City skyline.
