My wife and I stayed here recently, supposed to be good. We met our family there and my granddaughters. The two kiddies were crawling around and from back under this built in chair in the room they came up with a pair of men’s boxer shorts about size 50 that were filthy. My daughter got very upset about it. She’s an RN and very concerned about germs and cleanliness. Now myself I have a size 36 waist at 6′ 1″ tall, not anywhere near a size 50. But when we brought to the hotels attention they asked «Are you sure those aren’t your shorts?» This is the only place we stayed in NY, and somewhere somehow we got bed bug bites. All in all it’s more and more like a 3^rd world country everyday. Based on this experience we may never visit NYC again. I’m filing a health complaint. Oh and the room smelled bad like mildew, and I’m a bit allergic to mold so I had burning eyes and a cough from it.

Staycationed here on a Monday night after scoring a great deal online, AND we were upgraded to a corner room! We (my boyfriend, myself, and my pup) were greeted with a warm welcome at the front desk. Taking in the room was like sipping on a smooth White Russian. The bed faces out to the wall-​to-​wall floor-​to-​ceiling windows, and we even got a peak of the Empire State Building. Luxurious dark robes offset your skin tone for when it falls to the ground… later in the night. I enjoyed my perfectly hot and bubbly bath in the stand-​alone tub amidst shiny white tiles and in front of yet another wall covered with floor-​to-​ceiling windows. Breakfast at the downstairs grill was decadent. I definitely recommend for a mini getaway. ;)

Seeking a nice relaxing few days, I checked in this weekend after watching the amazing Sleep No More and I gotta say this is now one of my favorite hotels in Manhattan by far. I stayed in one of the «Standard Queen» rooms on the 11^th floor with an amazing view of the Hudson, the Whitney Museum and the Freedom Tower. The «standard queen» the most affordable room ($ 312.17 a day after taxes+fees), its compact but it has everything you could ever want and is designed in a way that makes the space feels spacious, clean/​minimal, and very comfortable. The room has an AMAZING TUB that comfortably fits two people (maybe even three), to be honest that tub had me sold, I soaked in that tub with my friend for hours and hours, gosh, can’t wait to stay there again. We ordered room service the first night cause we were feeling hella lazy and did not want to go out, we ordered two standard burgers, an appetizer, a slice of cake, and extra pickles, prices were pretty good, spent about $ 90. The service was great, I asked for some BBQ sauce and they didn’t have any so they actually took the time to make some for me from scratch and it was yummy.
I had such a great time, the only negative thing I can think of is that if you are a light sleeper you might trouble sleeping without ear plugs (they provide you a pair) the area is very busy at night since there are many clubs and restaurants.
Also, I would preferred that they have a designated area for Valet parking, you basically have to call them and tell them you arrived then pull up to the corner of Washington and 13^th and someone comes out and drives your car to a garage, the price is $ 80 for every 24 hours.
Regardless, I will definitely come here again maybe upgrade to a room on a higher floor.
To sum it up:
the Good: comfortable & compact but spacious feeling room, AMAZING TUB!!(oh and they include free bubble bath), THE VIEW!
the Meh: no designated area for Valet Parking, a lil noisy, not all the rooms have tubs call and ask which rooms do before you book!

Great location and views. A perfect combination of amenities and local flavor. Once more the location is perfect for a business or leisure trip.

5 stars — boom boom room, location, and standard grill
Where do I even begin with this review. I’ve never experienced a stay before that offered such extremes in my stay. We experienced the worst, and we experienced some good which has left me confused and a little manic over this hotel.
I booked 3 nights here under a good rate for a queen room. We checked in and were upgraded to a deluxe queen which as it turns out is just an upgrade in view not size really. The room was tiny. The bath tub is a flawed design. If you’re not careful, the faucet has the potential to spray the side of your bed.
With that said, I’m a lover of all Mid-​Century Modern décor so I liked the room and the bed was comfortable. I’ll give the room design and comfort 4 stars. It’s by no means luxury though.
Then problems arose. We inquired later that night about a room change to a King bed. It was Thanksgiving and the gentleman that night told us that because the hotel was going to be pretty empty he could do it for free. Yay, so we retired to our rooms for the night.
The next day, we ate Thanksgiving lunch and returned to the hotel around 2PM and proceeded with changing to a King bed. This time, the girl at the front desk said the upgrade wouldn’t be free after all, despite what the man said the night before. Not a problem, we still wanted to upgrade either way. After all, it was a modest price.
We were shown 3 possible rooms to move into, and we selected the second one we liked the best. We assumed that the rooms they showed us were the ones up for grabs, seeming as the hotel was fairly empty AND why else would they show us these rooms if they were going to put us in another? After selecting room #2, we were told to go back to our room and wait for the bellhop. This took over 30 minutes!!! My husband, frustrated, finally went down and got the key himself.
When we finally moved into our new room, it looked NOTHING like the one they showed us. NOTHING at all. Why bother even looking at rooms?! It was an accessible room, for one, and the shower opened up directly to entrance. I’m a travel photographer, so I was shooting pictures of the room on the floor when I noticed that the entire floor entrance was soaking wet and smelled like the worst mildew ever. My pants smelled awful too because I was kneeling on the floor and they got soaked! I couldn’t believe it.
So, we went back downstairs to change rooms again and this time the girl again, apologized and said to go back into our mildew room and wait for 10 minutes and she would call us when ready to change to another room. Well, we waited, and nearly 35 minutes later, there was no call. So we went back downstairs and she said she honestly forgot. She apologized and said she’d send some drinks up to the room. To her defense, she did send up a bottle of cheap champagne later that night.
After a good hour and a half later, we were FINALLY able to move into our new room except this time the entire floor reeked of pot smoke. Really bad. That’s not my thing, but we stayed in the room because we didn’t want to bother moving again. Btw, the King room is not much bigger than the Queen.
Well, midnight rolls around and I feel disgusting because all I can smell in my room is pot smoke which had gotten progressively worse. My husband wakes up and complains he smells it too so I call downstairs and ask for another room change.
Our new room was much better and smoke free and the rest of our stay was fine. If we didn’t change rooms, I’d have rated my stay a solid 1 star.
But, after all of this hassle, you’d assume the hotel would offer you at the very least some kind of complimentary upgrade, but they didn’t even do that!!! Nothing! My husband actually brought it up later since he was feeling quite frustrated. Almost begrudgingly, the girl at the front desk agreed to comp our modest switch from a Queen to a King-​sized bed.
With that said, our stay wasn’t all terrible. The Boom Boom Room is one of the best roof-​top bars I’ve ever been to and I used to frequent some of the best bars in Tokyo and Singapore. This was my favorite thing about this hotel and I’d consider staying here again just to have easy access to this bar.
The french fries from the Standard Grill are honestly the best fries I’ve ever had in my entire life and are my second favorite thing about this stay.
The location could not be better and The Standard Grill’s burger is a full 5 stars. It was extraordinary.
After our 3^rd room change, they gave us a card to apologize which was nice.
Because of only the location and the food, and the rooftop bar, I’d very reluctantly consider staying here again. In my opinion, this place is very overrated.

BEST BATH OF MY LIFE. As someone who stays in beaucoup hotels for lifestyle and travel pieces, I can have high expectations sometimes. My high expectations were met here at The Standard, when I needed a place to stay one night before a 5-​night stay at another hotel. If you need a place to stay in the city, and want it to be cool and walkable, look no further. While the rooms can be on the smaller side, the service of the staff makes you forget the size. And, then there are the baths. If you’re a bath person like me, GET A ROOM WITH A SOAKING TUB. Not lying, when I say it was the best bath of my life. Also, thank you to all the fine folks who I worked with on this visit, including Joey, Monique, Corey, and esp. Olivia, who made my one-​night stay a memorable one. I will be back, my friends, and next time I’ll have to write an article about YOUR hotel!

If you want to feel like second class citizens, come here. Members only and the chick at the front is rude. Place is not even worth it.

This hotel is a three-​ring circus. Where do I even begin?
The regular rooms are tiny. I’d say next time to splurge on the corner rooms with the incredible views but then I’d have to come back here. The toiletries are in big pumps that you have to use in the shower — there is NO lotion anywhere which I found strangely odd for being an upscale hotel.
The beds are not that comfortable. The showers are open/​clear glass in every room, so I hope you know your travel buddy REAL well. We asked for a shower curtain and the guy came and said he didn’t know how to install then turned to me for assistance. ?!
They were consistently closing off 2 of the 4 elevators for private events, so that all 17 floors of guests conveniently have TWO elevators to work with. They also don’t have separate elevators for bellman, so you’re in the elevator with 10 people and a luggage cart. Complete insanity.

The service at the hotel was one of the best parts. Terrell at the front desk was kind, out-​of-​his-​way helpful, and a gentleman. Thank you, Terrell!
I got upgraded to a King with a huge, rectangular, container-​ship-​like bathtub. The bathtub was the best! The hotel even included bubble bath :) It was super nice being able to soak your feet after a long day of walking and exploring the city. It would be large enough for two. But you’d have to come here with someone you’re comfortable showering in front of because the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom is glass.
The rooms were tiny and mostly clean (mine needed better vacuuming). I also thought it was strange that there weren’t any electrical outlets near the bed or the desk/​banquette bench area. This is a business hotel after all. More outlets, please. Other than that, I loved everything about this hotel: the bed (it was super duper comfortable), the tall windows, the many bars and restaurants open until 4 AM.
We had drinks at the Plaza and it was very relaxing. The servers there were nice and patient. We asked a bunch of questions, trying to understand the differences between the bars at the hotel. There are, like, 5 or something. The Plaza is pretty, like an outdoor garden. The perfect place to chill since it was VERY warm for October. Tip: the margarita was way better than the sangria.
Next, we tried drinks at the Standard Grill. Now they know how to make a good cocktail. If I had the time and the people to help me drink it, I would’ve gotten one of the $ 65 champagne punches. I settled on the Professor & Mary Ann (gin, strawberry-​champagne shrub, lime, prosecco) and it was delicious. Unfortunately, the service here was aloof. The bartenders and servers at the Grill were more interested in flirting with each other than paying attention to us. I didn’t try the food, but someone I was traveling with got some food to eat in their room and HATED it. Apparently the octopus didn’t taste fresh at all (soft… mushy… super fishy-​smelling). Yeah, octopus isn’t supposed to taste like that. She also didn’t like the marinated beets.
We also checked out the Top of the Standard. It was a nice rooftop bar, fantastic view, but we didn’t stay. Not really our scene. We didn’t make it to the Biergarten unfortunately. Next time :)

Todo es perfecto y super bien pensado con este lugar. Yo conozco el Standard de L. A y me encanta el look californiano sesentero, la decoración en azul clarito y las pachangas que se arman ahí.
A este lugar uno llega atraído primero por su arquitectura — el edificio pasa por encima del High line y tiene vista hacia el rio y el barrio. Segundo, hasta abajo tiene 3 restoranes siempre hasta el gorro de gente y super bien decorados: the Grill, el biergarten y otro que no supe como se llamó pero que estaba lleno de gente glamorosa y hierbas trepadoras alrededor de las columnas (muy la Toscana el rollo).
El hotel en si es lo que cualquier W querría llega a ser de grande: gran casting en los empleados, gran decoración y gran música de fondo. Hasta arriba tiene un bar increíble desde donde puedes ver el Hudson en las tardes/​noches mientras agarras la pedita. Hasta atrás cuenta con una tienda increiblemente curada, que ofrece desde revistas como el Vogue Paris, pasando por publicaciones de arte, joyería, ropa, música, accesorios y demás. Lo mejor de todo es que los precios no son altos.
Recomiendo este lugar como parada forzosa si andas por aquí.

First of all, let me start by saying that my experience at this hotel was probably unique in that it would have been mediocre at best had it not been for a strange set of circumstances.
My boyfriend and I booked a room here for one night over Labor Day weekend as a fun staycation thing to do. We never hang out in the Meatpacking District because it’s typically not our scene, but sometimes it’s interesting to just do something different and live another life for a night. I had booked a standard (or maybe deluxe) king room. We arrived at 3 (check-​in time), but the room wasn’t ready yet, so we wandered around for 20 minutes and then returned. The room was on the 14^th floor, which seemed promising as far as views went. Well, it wasn’t. We got into the room and saw that it looked out onto another half-​finished building that is under construction. Not exactly a stunning view. This was disappointing, but not terrible. What WAS terrible was that the carpet was sopping wet in the entire room, and there was a suspicious yellow stain on the sheet as well as gross stains on the carpet between the bed and the bathroom. We called down to the front desk to ask about the carpet, and we were told that they wet vac/​steam clean the carpets every single day! The woman advised us to open the window and crank the AC to help speed the drying process. We got off the phone and considered this advice, but honestly the carpet was so wet that there was no way it was going to dry anytime soon. At this point, I was regretting ever booking a hotel room to begin with.
My boyfriend called the desk again and asked if it would be possible to switch to a different room that didn’t have wet carpet. They said this was fine and sent a bell person up to escort us to the new room. We assumed we would be getting a room analogous to the one we were in, but much to our surprise, we were taken to a corner suite on the 17^th floor. The bell woman said, «I think you’ll like this much better.» Boy, was that an understatement! This room was more than 500 square feet and looked like a pimped out 70s bachelor pad with floor to ceiling windows and views of the river, the city, and the High Line! We could not believe our luck.
Although we had planned to just spend the evening alone, as soon as we saw this room, we knew we had to share it with friends, so we invited a few people over for a spur of the moment get together (nothing crazy, just 7 of us), and had a great night hanging out in this amazing space. I later discovered that the room is normally somewhere in the neighborhood of 1400 a night, so this was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
It was a great staycation because of how things turned out, but there were some negatives. The 17^th floor is directly under Le Bain, so you can hear the bass of the music in your room. They provide ear plugs for guests, but it actually didn’t bother me because I use a white noise app on my phone in hotel rooms anyway, and I was exhausted, so I just slept through it. My boyfriend was awake until the club closed at 3 AM, however.
Another negative was the circular bed. It looked super cool, but honestly, sleeping on one is weird, and our legs kept dangling off the end. Also, the mattress was truly horrendous. Firm is an understatement; it was basically like sleeping on the floor.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the showers in the rooms are not private; they all have glass walls and look out onto the room. Our suite had a door between the bedroom and the living room, and there was a door separating the toilet from the rest of the bathroom, but that was the only privacy. The shower wasn’t an issue for us, but I can see why it would be if you’re not traveling with someone you’re involved with.
To be blunt, this is a couples hotel. It’s not designed for families or platonic traveling partners. I think this is intentional on the hotel’s part (I mean, they have an app called One Night Standard that allows you to book same-​day rooms at discounted prices), and the design of the rooms pretty much encourages sex or at the very least, being naked in front of the person you’re there with. Just something to be aware of.
To sum up our stay: a lot of fun; not the best place to sleep.

My review is only for the lobby & layout aside from rooms. Came here to meet up with a friend & they hide the restrooms. I had to do some searching to find them & they were not marked. I had hoped someone would ask if I needed help but no such luck. The lobby is small but comfy, you can’t beat the location in the Meatpacking district and it’s definitely nicely decorated.

I was a guest at The Standard in April. When I checked in i told the person who took my American Express card that I had gift certificates to pay for some of our stay. He made copies of them so that there would be no «confusion» at check out. When we were checking out I presented the gift certificates and was told that «since it was a weekend there was no one here to authorize them» I was told that I would have to either use them at a later date or somehow get a credit for them on my Am Ex card. I said that I wanted to talk to the MGR. He appeared after about 15 min. and it took the better part of an additional hour the straighten out the mess. The entire time we were waiting I got the feeling that they thought we were just a big bother to them and somehow it was our fault.
I suggest another hotel.

Le Standard est un peu un must New Yorkais.
Déjà parce qu’on peut prendre le même ascenseur que les soeurs Knowles lors d’une fameuse after, ensuite parce que la vue la-​haut est juste à couper le soufflé!
Rassurez vous, on peut monter tout en haut et admirer la vue sans avoir à payer quoique ce soit, ou même une consommation. Il suffit de prendre les ascenseurs (toujours les mêmes) et de prendre ensuite tout en haut un escalier derrière une porte (si mes souvenirs sont bons) et hop, vous voilà on top of the world.
Après bien sûr si vous voulez tester le bar qui se trouve lui aussi tout en haut, la vue est magnifique, on arrive dans un endroit très chic, avec baies vitrées tout autour.
Les cocktails sont très chers par contre, ce qui est un peu normal pour un hotel 5*, mais je vous le recommande quand même à 100% pour la vue !
Ps: l’été vous pourrez venir vous relaxer sur le toit où il y a des transats, et même un stand de crêpes !

The location and décor are great if you are here to party. BUT if you’re not looking for a night club /​tourist trap restaurant weekend, I wouldn’t recommend.
Rooms are bright with sun first thing in the morning despite any curtain drawing. Showers are completely open (not just a privacy issue, but makes for a cold and drafty morning shower too). I also found the bed incredibly uncomfortable. In other words, not a relaxing restorative weekend.
The staff was nice, and the rooms were certainly clean. But I wouldn’t stay again.

Stayed here a few weeks ago. Room was small even for New York standards, but I did like the 70s vibe to the decorating.
The crowd here is super annoying. Mid 20s, and they just take over the entire hotel on Saturdays and Sunday’s. It sucks to wait in line for 20 minutes for an elevator to your room since the place is packed with people trying to get to the roof.
The rooftop was good, had a nice view of the Hudson and the skyline but again the crowd ruined it. Younger bros drinking cheap beer since most people there can’t pony up $ 20 for a watered down mixed drink (I don’t blame them). After you spend about 20 minutes stepping on people lounging on the Astroturf, you’ll probably want to leave.
Le bain at night is supposed to be good but table minimums were pretty pricey, and judging from the crowd I didn’t think the price was justified for what you would get.

I stayed in The Standard for one night. I booked this room through
. Upon entrance, my boyfriend and I had trouble finding parking. After driving around for 20 minutes we decided to ask for valet. The person at the front desk was extremely helpful, he told us to just park in front and the valet would meet us. Very accommodating. The room was amazing. I had asked for a water view but was told I wouldn’t get one, to my surprise I did! What a great hotel, very accommodating. I also had a free bottle of wine upon arrival. The room was a tad bit small but man, with that view who cares.
The bathroom is odd, it’s an open space with a shower, sink, and tub. Across is a door where there is a toilet. The tub was huge! And so much fun. The bed was very comfortable. Room service was available 24 hrs, and their fries were so yummy.
If you want to get the best out of NY, this hotel is amazing. It’s atmosphere at night with its lounges and restaurants, the standard gives you that feel. The views are everything, this is one of the best views from the hotel in NYC.
Definitely will be staying here again.

Not impressed at all with this establishment. The rooms are small, the bathroom and shower is EVEN smaller. Housekeeping does a poor job, there is no turndown service and there is a severe lack of BASIC amenities in the room (ie shower cap and complimentary water bottles). The concierge is not helpful and comes off very smug while the doorman is disgustingly money hungry.
Lastly the rooftop bar closes every night at 9pm for a private event and hotel guests are not allowed up. For me staying at this hotel is a BIG waste of money. I would much prefer to stay somewhere that provides at least sooommmmmeeee added benefits to hotel guests and also has a bathroom more suitable for humans rather than ants.
I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone and advise all readers of this review to think twice before booking.

Si vous vous posez des questions, c’est l’hôtel à faire à Manhattan…
Le quartier est situé dans le quartier de Highline, qui est un de mes quartier préféré de Manhattan, mélange d’industriel et de boutiques.
Plusieurs gammes de chambre, situées du 1er au 17ème. Le début de gamme monte jusqu’au 11ème.
La vue est magnifique ! Vous avez vu sur Hudson River, l’Empire State Building… Les chambres sont vraiment belles et cosy, avec une baie vitrée du sol au plafond et sur toute la longueur.
Au 18ème, un bar magnifique, pour boire un cocktail toujours en face de la vue. Une boîte «The Bain» pour un peu plus de musique et d’ambiance…
À faire absolument: la salle de sport, qui doit être une des plus folle dans laquelle vous aurez l’occasion de mettre les pieds !

Uno de los hoteles más emblemáticos de Chelsea. Con su forma de libro, se yergue orgulloso sobre el hermosisimo High Líné Park, obviamente dando unas vistas increíbles del sur de Manhattan. El hotel es medio upscale, tanto por la ubicación como por el nivel de gente que lo visita. Las habitación accesibles son lindas, pero no le van a volar la cabeza a nadie. El hotel suma atractivo por sus múltiples ofertas: un café, un beer garden, una disco ultra de moda, un rooftop medio choto y uno de los cocktail bars mas lindos de la ciudad. No hace falta hospedarse para visitar los anexos (salvo la disco, que tiene un acceso más difícil que El Pentágono).
Nota aparte para los ascensores, los mas lindos que vi en mi vida.

The perfect lounge ambience! Coupled with the penultimate restroom experience, The Standard High Line is an absolute must in NYC.
The rooftop bar at The Standard offers breathtaking views of the city. It is the great place for early evening drinks in NY. Gracefully adorned with a live band in the background. If you go early in the evening you can beat the crowd, enjoy the music, the sunset over the hudson (see my pic) and have a great conversation. Later on the place can get packed. It is somewhat small, so get here early. As you would expect the place is pricey, 4 cocktails (a couple of Jack & Coke’s and a couple of martinis) ran us $ 85. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the cocktails were nothing special.
When at The Standard High Line, you must make a pit stop. For men, I suspect this is the best view you will have while urinating… see pic, the stalls look directly at the Empire State building. A fathering relaxing and refreshing view. Perhaps the ultimate urination experience in the world.

The hotel is in a great location — close to food all over the Meatpacking District and nightlife. The only thing is the room design. The standard room isn’t optimal for sharing with friends since the shower’s glass wall is where the bed is. Something to think about before you book a room with a casual friend (obviously, there’s an easy work-​around if one person leaves the room as the other showers, haha). The room that I was in on the 14^th floor had a spectacular view of the Empire State Building and the High Line (reminder to draw the curtains unless you want to give a peep show!).
Aside from the shower’s glass wall right next to the bed, I liked the rest of the room. Flat screen TV, comfy bed, and booth-​seating table to do work.
Loved the gym on the 17^th floor with a GREAT view of the Hudson. There are a couple ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes, and benches with free weights. Not bad.
I didn’t get a chance to go up to the Boom Boom Room since I went out with friends while I was in NYC, but I’ve heard it’s popular with locals.

Mal abgesehen davon, dass ich überhaupt nicht auf Design Hotels stehe, ist es echt schön. Hier haben sich Leute darüber beschwert, dass die Zimmer zu klein sind. Hallo? Es ist New York!
Das Publikum war mir ein bisschen zu hip und selbstgefällig. Aber so ist das wohl in solchen Hotels.
Das Hotel ist über der High Line, es ist im Meatpacking District, das Personal ist nett und die Zimmer sind vollverglast. Der Blick versöhnt einen mit allem. Ich wollte nur noch im Bett sitzen und aus dem Fenster schauen.
In den billigen Zimmern hat man Blick auf Chelsea und Midtown, in den teureren schaut man auf Downtown und den Hudson River. Glaube ich jedenfalls. Die teureren haben dann auch noch eine Badewanne mitten im Zimmer.
Die Bar im 18. Stock ist mir ein bisschen zu posh, aber wer drauf steht, hat richtig Glück.
Wer nicht drauf steht, muss trotzdem raufgehen, um runterzukucken.
Wenn ich es mir leisten kann, komme ich wieder. Wenigstens für eine Nacht.

tolle Sicht, kleine Zimmer (auch die großen.), viele schöné Menschen, bescheidener Service, fragwürdiges Preisleistunsverhältnis, interessante Umgebung …
