Solid, no frills bar. This is the default after work drinks spot for my office. The bar is spacious so it’s good for groups. Most of the food is nothing special, but the burgers are surprisingly good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find this place, but if you’re looking to grab a quick beer and forget a crappy work day, you can’t go wrong here.

Wall st. Irish bar. Always has CNBC on. Good spot to have a few beers. Get the cheeseburger if you go. Usually crowded after work.

Visited numerous times over the years — most recently yesterday’s lunch. In terms of «Pub» food The Shilling remains above average. Once seated service is quick — perhaps too quick as fast turnover of guests seems a priority. The restaurant is popular as around 12:30 tables are full. Personal favorites here are the salad options with the Santa Fe the highlight. While expensive($ 16.50) the perfectly balanced combination of ranch dressing, corn, onions, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and tortillas make for a refreshing selection. We found burgers and other sandwich options satisfactory — in line with expected Pub dining. Of note — Bar area has that stale beer aroma — best to eat in the dining room.

I came here for lunch with coworkers and we all left severely disappointed. The quality of the food doesn’t even come close to justifying the prices. For example — my coworker ordered a soup, a salad, and a soda, and ended up paying $ 30 with tip; unless the salad is sprinkled with flecks of gold, that is an outrageous price for mediocre food. The food menu in general is boring. I expected to find some pub food like lots of finger foods and appetizers. Nope — just the typical stuff you can get for half the price at a corner diner — soups, salads, burgers, and a handful of entrees. I ordered the«Full Shilling Burger» with cheddar and it was only okay — you would expect something unique(maybe a special sauce?) from a burger named after the restaurant, but it was just a plain burger! How disappointing. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the watery cole slaw. The real kicker came when we saw that a soda was $ 4 each. Seriously? Maybe we’ll try this place for a happy hour(doubtful), but will never go back for lunch, or just food in general.

Food was excellent except that appetizer came out with all the other food! Service sucked! Bartenders wouldn’t even look up waiting to get check for 40 minutes without so much as an apology!

I really like this place. I was on a short lunch break and was actually going to just get take out from here. However when I walked in the atmosphere was so warm and relaxed! So… I decided to stay. Lol. The bartender was nice enough. I ordered the portobello on ciabatta. AMAZING!!! My only issue was timing. I ordered a mushroom with cheese on bread. It took 25 minutes to get my food with only five other people(who were already eating) in the restaurant. Nevertheless I will be back… When I am not pressed for time.

I randomly found The Full Shilling one day and couldn’t have been happier. The bar is known more as a lunch place as it caters to the banks and law firms that pepper the area. In the evenings, the bar slows down a bit, which is perfect for that neighborhood atmosphere that can be so hard to find. The bartenders are fantastic and have a sharp sense of humor. It’s always pretty easy to find a seat and spend a pleasant hour or two. There are tables in the back that are great for larger groups. The food is solid pub fare, though there are some additional items that make The Full Shilling special. My personal favorite is the Irish Trifle — a mildly alcoholic sponge cake dessert. For food, you can’t really go wrong with the quesadilla. I don’t miss much about living in New York. The Full Shilling is the exception.

The first wave of food we got was delivered to our table incorrectly. The rest of the meals came out incredibly staggered. By the time the last person got their meal, half the table was finished. Not attentive, and the chicken was very under cooked(still red/pink!). Changes to items(due to allergies, not that it matters) were also ignored or forgotten. The place wasn’t very crowded at all so this entire thing was very confusing, but I’m speaking for more than just myself when I say this is the worst service we’ve gotten. We normally come here for Happy Hour, which has typically been fine, but I don’t imagine you can mess up draft beers that drastically. Definitely a no go for food.

Had a very bad experience in this bar. After finishing a rather bland, unappetizing and over priced meal, one member of the staff then began harassing me for a tip. To cut a long story short, at the end of the meal a rather unpleasant young Irish waitress ended up giving me a mouth full of expletives and was physically threatening because I would not give her the 2 dollars in change as a tip. Came in for a quick bite after 2PM and all was pretty quiet. Typical Irish pub décor, but service and food were definitely above average. The Full Shilling burger was totally reasonable, and a tall draft was $ 7 bucks. My server Florian was on top of his sh*t. Everything was fast, and he knew what type of clientele he was working with, depending on the table. Overall good meal, good service, I would come back.

My team and I come here at least 1 – 2 times a week, around 2pm or later is the best to beat the lunch rush(when it gets crazy packed). Everything is classic and delicious but the tartar sauce is my favorite in new york… they already know to bring extra when we come in :) Favorite dishes for our team — Chicken greek salad, portabello mushroom burger with swiss(ridiculous), salmon with pureed cauliflower and the good old fish and chips Waitresses are all really attentive and friendly!

My coworker who happens to be an avid margarita drinker loves this place because… you guessed it! … their margaritas are pretty great. Beer selection’s not too shabby either.

The full shilling is the perfect pub. Great service, a comfortable bar, friendly patrons and astoundingly good food. The first time I ordered a burger because I was hungry and tired of going to top rated restaurants all week. What I got was a perfectly cooked burger in its simplest form, not the overlooked tasteless burger I was expecting. As I discovered time after time, this wasn’t a fluke. The quality was the same on weekdays, weekends, mid-day and late at night. One night I decide I have to try something different. Surely a place that produces such a good hamburger can manage a pub and street staple like fish and chips. How wrong I was; or rather how wrong the menu was. Fish and chips are twice fried bits of mostly grease and soggy fries, which I love dearly. While not greasy, they nailed the fries. The fish, however, was playing an entire different sport. White, flakey and almost translucent, it was probably the best fish I’ve had outside monkfish at a 4 star restaurant. I haven’t had a chance to have this item again, so maybe it was a fluke, but somehow I don’t think it was. As far as criticisms, I find it a personal point of pride that I can always find something. I can’t find fault with the service. Our bar tender kept the bar open over an hour past close one night to let us watch the Stanley cup 2nd game. I can’t find fault with the food until I can find better for less and they aren’t exactly inexpensive. I guess it would be that the bar is a bit lonely. If your meeting friends, there is plenty of room but outside watching a large sporting event, it’s a little sparse.

Over my years working and interning on-and-off in Manhattan, I have had the pleasure of spending a few St. Patrick’s Days at the Full Shilling, along with my whole family and various friends. It always goes the same way: we claim a large swath of tables, enjoy a few rounds of decent Guinness, and then decide we need food. The kitchen always serves up tasty American, Irish-American, and Irish dishes that hit the spot on a blustery March day(or anytime really). The burgers are great, as is the stew, and the nachos are ridiculously addictive. Really, though, you can’t go wrong with the standards on their menu and a live band. Sláinte!

Stumbled upon this place while frantically looking for somewhere to eat in the Financial District on a Saturday evening(everything is closed!). It was a welcome surprise! I had the penne alla vodka and it was probably the best pasta I’ve had in a pub! The service was great as well– seemed like only one guy was working but he was doing a great job. Very cozy, lots of space, great atmosphere for a casual dinner and drink. The music selection was also spot on!

I don’t step out for lunch much, but when I do it is usually at the Full Shilling. It’s a very casual place with tables in the front the front near the bar, or in the back. If you arrive a little before 12pm, you will probably be seated immediately. The food is really good — there are great salads, burgers, and traditional dishes like Shepherd’s Pie, Bangers and Mash, and Beer Battered Fish & Chips. You will definitely find something to satisfy your palate. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly and they provide good service. I have been there for after work drinks as well, and it’s pretty crowded — but that should be no surprise considering that there are not many places in FiDi for after work drinks with big screen TV’s. The beer selection is not massive, but they have a decent selection to choose from. Overall, a nice place to come for lunch, dinner, or a drink before the commute home.

Nice, local pub. Bar up front and quiet area in back. Doesn’t get too loud/crowded like Stone Street. I must say I was completely surprised by the quality of food. It was the best(and biggest) Salmon BLT I have ever had — chef even went out of way to get some avocado to add for me. It was expensive but delicious! Good irish soda type bread too. Surprisingly, even though their dishes are pricey, I would definitely return for the food(since I am nearby)!

With an office full of people from Belfast, Ireland and other areas of the UK, the place has become a regular for my co-workers. They love the interior because it reminds them of home. The very large dining area in the back is a favor for some quiet chatting or some noise celebrating. For me it is only a short walk from our office building so it is easy to run down for a drink and snack and run back to finish some late work. We usually start with a Half Platter for $ 36; it includes wild wings, mozzarella sticks, crisp fried calamari, chicken fingers with sauces and garnish with veggie sticks. They have a full platter for $ 52 but everyone prefers the half platter for some reason. The cocktails are mostly $ 10 each(favors are the Hazelnut chocolate martinis) so it is beer for most of us. Overall, it is cozy and a nice place to stop for a drink.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon to grab some pub food. The bar is really pretty and looks like an Authentic Irish pub. There are 3 huge flat screens in the back and it must be packed during games. The menu had a lot of good choices: burger, fish and chips, sandwiches and salads. Some of the other items included full Irish Breakfast, stews and steaks. We were the only customers but it was a rainy day and this place is not on a busy street during the weekends. I ordered the chicken BLT and my bf got the Cajun chicken sandwich. The food was really good for a bar. I usually get scared to order a salad or anything besides a burger but this place was above average. Fries were crispy and not oily, food was fresh and served pretty fast. Although I didn’t actually drink any beer, they had a good selection on tap.
