Food portions were just right and the Yuca fries were a different touch. The only thing is that they should be offered as a meal since it is so filling(just saying). The atmosphere was great the staff were courteous. If you are eating in get there early seating is at a premium and gets filled up quickly.

The falafel here is surprisingly well made and flavorful. It is also very reasonably priced. Though I do must say that I am not really a fan of the Tahini or the the hummus they serve with the falafel. I find the sauce to be very chalky tasting and it leaves not so good flavor aftertaste. The sauce they serve also with the French fries is also a no-no for me to. it tasted sour and just not apetizing.

Service was on point and everyone was so friendly. I got the sabich sandwich and wow — it was amazing!!! You have to try this place especially during lunch since they have a sandwich and soup combo special!!!

Get the eggplant sabbich, it’s pronounced«sob-beek.» It has has a hard boiled egg and a generous amount of hummus. Everything else is good but the only other thing that compares is their falafel sandwich which is Ming the best you’ll have. This place delivers also and for the most gets it to you within the hour. They take card and cash but I think they want you to spend $ 10 first.

I used to live in the neighborhood and I kinda regret not taking advantage of the variety of cuisines offered in the Lower East Side before I moved. I came here with a friend one Sunday afternoon for a quick catch-up lunch after finding out Pok Pok down the block was closed. I wanted to give the Bureka Treat a try because I wanted to experience what the farmer cheese puff pastry would taste like. But I was disappointed when I found out that there was no more. I settled for the falafel platter while my friend had the sandwich. The meal did not disappoint. The portion size however, did. The sandwich my friend had was only a tad bigger than your fist. Overall, I enjoyed my dish. Like many of the Unilocalers have stated, the food they serve here was a bit on the sour side though. The falafel was perfect. New York street cart authenticity with a side of pita bread. Service was great. Store was generally kept clean and the food came out fast. Would I be returning? Sure. Maybe I’ll try the Yuca Fries next.

In my opinion, this had been one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, in and out of NYC. I hope by the end of this review, either the owners reflect on this unfortunate diner’s experience and make some changes, or this is a falafel shop that garners avoidance at all costs. We came here for a quick early dinner bite after a long day of visiting NY, and we were extremely excited to have some falafel sandwiches. When we arrived at the counter, I was immediately met with ridicule over my lack of understanding for the menu. The cashier was rude and condescending to my girlfriend and myself for questioning the ingredients for the sandwiches. At first, I thought it was just us, he was equally rude to all of the other customers. After we had sat down for 15 minutes, I went to the front desk to ask for some additional sides, only to find out they forgot to process our orders and our food was not made at all. Of course, our sandwiches was missing a few key ingredients, in which the restaurant didn’t even bother to tell us and when they finally gave our sandwiches, it turned out it was the wrong order. Fortunately, we weren’t the only patrons who suffered from such a poor communication and absence of professionalism. The server’s face was full of smirk and mockery, something I had never experienced in all of my dining experiences. As for the food, my eggplant sandwich was poorly filled and wrapped to go… even though I wanted to eat in the establishment. The falafel sandwich was decent, although only had a few falafels and cost way too much. The baba ganoush had way too much mayo and I did not enjoy it at all. I am ashamed to say that of all of the dining experiences of 2014 – 2015, this was the most atrocious insult to any valued patrons I’ve ever had. I hope that no one will share this horrible experience until the owners make some well-needed changes. Food: 3 stars Price: 2 stars Service: insulting

I would have taken a photo of what would have been titled«Best Falafel in NYC… period», but once I took that first bite, any thought of picture-taking was gone. I was lost in Falafel Heaven. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Right color. Perfect taste, perfect consistency, incredibly fresh pita and the salad inside(especially the crisp cucumbers) combined with their tehina reminded me of the best falafel I ever had when in Haifa, Israel. Fresh hand-cut fries… a portion enough for two… are delicious dunked in the tehina. This is now officially the only falafel place I’ll go to in town.

Never eaten at this place before but I was in the mood for falafel, and my friend recommended it. However, when we met up there, the front metal gate was halfway down. We thought maybe they were closed until 6pm(it was 5:40pm), but upon looking at the menu we saw the hours were normally open at that time. So we decided to wait and see if the place opened in 20 minutes, as we could see the staff inside moving around. I guess they got tired of hearing potential customers linger outside because instead of saying«hi» and letting us know what was up, they instead came to the front and just shut the gate down on us without saying a word. It was then that we could see a paper taped to the front that said ‘closed for Yom Kippur. Will reopen on Thursday.‘ Nice attitude. Couldn’t be bothered to say«Sorry, guys, we’re actually closed today»? A simple sentence and we would have been fine. Instead, slam the gate shut so you don’t have to hear pesky customers idling outside wondering what the opening time was. Anyway, it’s not like there aren’t other falafel places to eat at in NYC, so hey, good luck with your business. I won’t be bringing any more business your way. I’m sure the falafel is quite good, based on my disappointed friend’s recommendation, but the customer service in this joint doesn’t bode well based on my brief experience there.

Decided to try this place out after it was recommended to me by the folks over at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have gone in on my own had it not been for the recommendation, but I’m glad I did! I ordered a mint ginger lemonade and a falafel sandwich, hold the pickles(I know, but I cannot stand pickles and pretty much every sandwich had them). The lemonade was fresh and delicious but if you like your drink cold, just ask for more ice and they will be happy to oblige. The falafel in the sandwich was heaven – probably the best I’ve ever had. Overall, my meal was light and refreshing after being outside in the sun for the better part of the day. It was nice to find a seat inside as well, although I wasn’t eating during peak hours. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Lower East Side!

Very small establishment, with only a few seats. I only tried their falafel balls and their ginger lemonade. The falafels were delicious, but their ginger lemonade was super gingery. I’m sure some people would be put off by it. Be warned! I would like to come back to try their wraps, but since it’s really out of the way for me, I’m not sure how hard I’ll try to come back.

Probably the best falafel I’ve eaten. Extremely good taste and hummus and sauces. Everything tastes very fresh — from the wrap to the tomatoes an especially the main ingredient — the chickpea balls. These balls ;) are really tender, moist and fresh. Almost every other falafel I’ve eaten had dry, hard, overcooked, old chickpea balls. Not here!

I was happy to come here, and happy to have left. The falafel wrap can be gluten free and that’s also going to be 3 dollars extra. They don’t use mayo on the sauces but please ask them to not use so many pickles. The saltiness those pickles add to the falafel take away the falafel taste and add so much salt to the dish. I felt like i was eating a pickled falafel, i didnt even taste the damn falafel balls. At the end, girlfriend and i were extremely thirsty!!!

I was looking for late night grub in the LES after an event and stumbled upon The Falafel Shop in my Unilocal search findings. I was considering Mamoun’s, however, they disappointed me the last trip. I braved it and drove a couple blocks to Falafel Shop. A tiny quaint vegetarian paradise. The cashier was… I assume middle eastern. His thick accent was hard to understand. He also did not appear friendly after 12 midnight. This spot is open until 2 a.m. which is a added bonus. I ordered the Falafel sandwich on wheat pita. My friend and I awaited the chick peas to be prepped and fried. My fellow Unilocaler had never tried a falafel previously, so he was intuitive about the menu. The cashier did not seem interested in describing the menu.(Maybe it was the fatigue of after midnight… Get a day job!) The food arrived fresh and very good. Falafel was crispy and seasoned well. The wheat pita was soft as a pillow. The Tahini sauce was delicious. The pickles did not belong… The sauce they gave us on the side. was watered down. Not sure if It was white sauce ??? All and all, for $ 5.75, you get what you pay for.

Healthy Food I’ve been trying to find places that don’t just serve meat and bread. It’s been a challenge. As a result, mediterranean places come up pretty often. I got the falafel plate with it’s six freshly fried falafel balls, bed of interesting plant matter and warm whole wheat pita. Truly, a textural taste adventure though the Land of Crunchy, Plains of Chewy, and Sea of Smooth sprinkled with bright bursts of acid.

Atrocious service really. The woman behind the cashier was extremely rude and you can tell she didn’t want to be there with her sour attitude and unprofessional work ethics. She kept checking her phone and making calls WHILE she was working. Didn’t even crack a smile and practically ignored me, assuming it was just going to be my brother who was ordering something although I was literally standing behind him to order. Sadly the terrible service made the food and ambiance sour. I enjoyed the food, with the good pita bread, crispy falafel, and fresh ingredients for the Sabich platter(eggplant platter). The pickled items were especially delicious, although the hummus was a bit too sour for my taste buds. But I don’t see myself coming back nor bringing any of my friends here in fear of them having to go through the experience of rude service.

Another great hole in the wall find during my short trip in NY! Outside you don’t expect much but once you walk in you see pretty hipster décor and they’re playing mellow EDM. It felt so perfect crashing in here, late night after an action packed day, for a quick bite. It was on the way to the apartment, very convenient. Seating was available as well. They had a some bar stool seating on the perimeter, and also some facing the open street so you can people watch, as well as a few tables. Quite cozy though. I ordered a falafel sandwich, nothing much to say except my belly was very happy! There were a lot of appetizing vegetarian things on the menu. I want to go back to NY and eat here again!
