Marm Cafe

Well I’ll start by saying the atmosphere of the space is really great, even down to the plates and forks. The reason it got ³⁄₅ stars was because of the ten minute wait for the mediocre eggs that cost 13 dollars.
Really had high hopes for this place because of the baked eggs, which I assumed would be baked.
They where not, actually just cooked in a pan with a bed of artichoke underneath. So there was that, runny wet oily unbaked dish in front of me.
The saving grace of it all was actually the side of potatoes. Starchy, drizzled with oil, cooked well and even had some cooked red onion to go with it. That, was the highlight of the meal.
All in all, wouldn’t go back for food, but would go back for a chat. I don’t know about the quality of dessert or drink, but even if it is unexceptional, it would still be a nice place to loiter with a friend.

I must have went to a different place than you all did. When you talk about warm service and smiling employees I went back to look at the pictures to make sure I was reviewing the correct place. The day I went in there was a petite dark haired woman that was annoyed and looked like she was going to rip someone’s head off. She was super cranky abort tempered when my friend asked her for a stir stick for her coffee. She stated they didn’t have any… I’m not sure if she meant that morning or forever… we didn’t dig any further.
The food looks delicious I always pass this place on my way to the train or back home but because of the bitter service I received I would never reccomend this place to anyone…

Just spent over $ 5 for a 2 inch across tart that was so disgusting and terribly made that I had to throw it out after 1 bite. Tasted of gasoline or chemicals or something that shouldn’t be in my mouth. Was enticed by the homemade look of their pastries. Maybe other things are better but I’m never setting foot in here again.

I just came in here for a drink so I can’t speak about the food, but this place has the best customer service. The employees were so nice and took their time explaining different things to me. I also went to use the restroom but there was a customer already in there for quite some time, when he came out the employee asked me to wait a minute and he went in and sprayed air freshener for me. I will definitely stop in for lunch next time I’m in the area the soup smelled amazing.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. It’s right on the street corner and has big glass floor-​to-​ceiling windows that can be opened when the weather is nice. The space feels bright and spacious. The staff was very sweet and attentive. We ordered off the menu and didn’t try anything from the array of fresh baked goods (they look great btw). Got an omelette and the Brie and avocado sandwich. Both were surprisingly AWESOME. The owner stopped by and said they will be getting their liquor license soon. Thank god. They have fresh squeezed juices as a nice alternative to a grown up drink.

The food is TERRIFIC and the servers are very sweet. Definitely a restaurant I’ll visit again!

Warm place and service. Always smiling. Clean. A lot of choices, pastries, bagels, soups, salads, fruit salads and anything you might want. And I almost forgot… Coffee !

Been here a few times and received very nice service each visit. I normally get a coffee or tea with a slice of dessert. It’s a cozy little café to sit down and catch up with a friend. I like to sit by the window so I can watch all the dogs stroll by. The dessert I really liked recently was this white tiramisu with powdered sugar sprinkled on top and strawberry filling — it tasted like a rich and creamy custard cake.

Small and kind of cute café. I think it’s is a decent spot for brunch or breakfast or quick bite. The tomato was good but could have used some more salt, I liked that everything seemed homemade and fresh. I went on a Sunday and it seemed that they needed a few extra hands since it was one guy pretty much taking care of everyone. Not bad but there are better places in the area.
PRO TIP: try the carrot ginger soup w the cheesy croutons

My husband and I accidentally found Marm while walking around in 20 degree weather looking for a café/​restaurant during brunch hours on a Sunday, which was also Valentine’s day. In hindsight, it was really a death sentence — but in our defense, despite growing up and living in NYC for over 25 years, we’ve both never really celebrated V-​day before.
Back to Marm. First off, if it’s your first time here, read the back of their menu to understand their namesake. I won’t spoil it for you. Secondly, Marm is really a small café experience. There seems to be only one server, one barista and one cook working there at a time. You can just come in and get some coffee and pastries to go, or you can opt for sit-​down service. I’d avoid bringing groups larger than 4 because the tables are small, and the seating, while adequate for the space, is not abundant.
The food, for what it’s worth (aka LES prices), is quite delicious. I had something that resembled shakshuka (labeled as 2 baked eggs on the menu) with rosemary potatoes and shallots — and it was phenomenal. Not too salty or spicy, just perfect for my palette. I’m also no coffee snob but their regular coffee is strong, flavorful and fantastic. I usually don’t ever finish coffee I get at a café with meals, but this time I stayed to do so. The cup was albeit a tad smaller that what I’ve normally seen but it tasted wonderful and not a bit watered-​down. When it’s not so cold, I’d walk another 20 minutes back there to get another cup of that coffee.

I love this place. It is never super crowded, the people that work there are extremely nice, and the food is great. Tru their pastries or some of their sandwiches. They are inexpensive, especially compared to what you will find in the neighborhood.

I love this place for their $ 3 full pots of tea, cute mural filled walls, and ever growing menu. I’ve ordered a few items from both the breakfast and lunch menus and come to find out you can’t go wrong with anything containing the grilled veggies.
This place holds the special charm of a small, neighborhood café, with big floor to ceiling windows and a community table in the center of the restaurant.
I’ve been back with several different groups and although I think it works best for pairs of 2, it’s perfect for dates, old friends, and parents alike.

This place is simply adorable! I was starving on a Sunday, right before the Pig & Khao elite event when me and my beau (pronounced: bu) decided to escape into Marm Café. I immediately loved the ambiance in this place so what was supposed to be a quick grab-​and-​go meal turned into a eat and chill brunch. We sat at the middle communal table, which my detail-​oriented date quickly noted was a door. A door as a table? Not a bad idea. Picture a very chic and Anthropologie– esque door not a random one lying in the street.
The brunch was great. The ambiance made super relaxing and cozy with the natural light pouring in through their floor to ceiling windows, complete with an open kitchen releasing all sorts of breakfast aromas. There’s something comforting about watching your food be made by a smiling chef. My eggs were cooked perfectly, and the home fries were cooked exactly as I like: chunky, and soft with slightly crisp edges. The multigrain toast with butter to top it all off. My date’s croissant breakfast sandwich was fulfilling although costing much more than you’d like to pay for a breakfast sandwich.
Despite a mishap at the register (with the waiter almost mistakenly charging us a much more expensive order) everyone was quite nice, from the hostess, who mostly stood by the register near the dessert display case, to the solo waiter who served our waters and took our orders with a smile. I would totally recommend this spot if you’re in the neighborhood. It is a small space so it isn’t great for groups but it’s perfect for a solo date or with a special someone.

Perfect café for an afternoon pick-​me-​up or leisurely lunch. Their pastries and food have never let me down, and their coffee is great!
The aesthetic of this place is perfect, and it’s so nice during the warmer months when the windows are all open. Additionally, the staff are friendly, attentive, and very helpful!

I went twice, the smallest cup of coffee is not refilled and something like 4 bucks… seriously. Drip coffee… I got it because it was the «large» which probably means more if you get it to go instead of staying in.
It wasn’t even 8 ounces…
So maybe they gave me the wrong cup, and maybe refills aren’t the standard here. Fine. Why would it take 45 minutes to pay. Why is it that when I tried to order dessert, I couldn’t because the staff seemed to be missing (one person wasn’t there, the other was on the phone, seemingly on a personal call).
The food was okay but for the price I can go to any number of places on the same block.

Today I found myself on the Lower East Side with the unfortunate task of visiting the police precinct to report a missing wallet and phone. When I escaped the precinct to Marm, I asked to borrow a phone to make some calls. The baristas could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They went above and beyond to make me feel at home, and suspended their disbelief enough to allow me to use their phone.
Marm, thank you for your delicious coffee and warm hospitality. I will be making the trip downtown just for this spot.

Food was okay.
But the service was terrible. The lady is very rude. Plus she told us that they are not serving eggs then next thing you know she is serving eggs to the another table. When we were paying at the front, just because her card machine wasn’t working –she was asking for cash or different card but the WAY/​TONE she was asking was very condescending and rude.
But the other server who was helping her out was totally opposite of her. So he was the main reason we didn’t confront her.

Stopped by to get breakfast and wasn’t really impressed. So with the amount of options around here I doubt I’d be back. Had a bagel sandwich with sausages and peppers and cheese and it was just OK. The doughnut I had was a little stale.

Cute corner café located in LES. There is cool graffiti on the wall that matches all the décor. To go with the cool décor, there are delicious crêpe cakes. The best is the simple whip cream crêpe cake. You can buy either a slice or the whole cake. If you’re unsure about which to pick, simply ask for a sample.
This is a hidden gem with quick service. Cute décor. Delicious food. Perfect café spot.

After sitting empty for more than half a year, we now have a new café in the corner space at Rivington and Clinton– Marm Café. It’s a cute little spot whose two walls of windows allow you to not only people watch, but keep an eye on all the bike and car traffic as it comes off the Williamsburg bridge and angrily merge into Manhattans bike lanes. You’re bound to see plenty of road rage and near fender benders on this busy corner. They also have a pretty sweet Bradley Theodore mural on their wall.
The spot has delicious coffee ($ 2 for a small) as well as incredible pastries. I had a flat «croissant-​like» pastry topped with strawberries ($ 5) that was yummers. Also had a chocolate croissant ($ 4) that may have been the largest croissant I’ve ever had. It was good, but it was stuffed with a chocolate pudding, as opposed to the standard chunk of chocolate. It was a little too much chocolate for me, but others may love it. They also have panini’s, omelettes, salads and other assorted food offerings.
I’ll probably just keep this place as my go to for a coffee when I run out, as the pastry-​prices are a little $teep for me to be a regular consumer. And if I want a panini, I’ll probably hike myself over to Gaia.
