What happens in the Ted Bardy Studio stays in the Ted Bardy Studio. Sorry.

I thought I was an actor with years of actors training and experience. I knew there was room for a little progress, but what I didn’t know what my potential was until I went to Ted Bardy. This program requires a lot of dedication and hard work but the pay off is a million times more worth it. Every little detail was noticed, worked on and improved. When I had my performance at Ted’s studio, my friends who knew me and what I could do were blown away. They could not stop talking for weeks about my transformation. And I started from a good place! The program as well as helping me grow as an actor helped me grow as a person. I became much perceptive in terms of myself and other people. Instead of just looking at someone and taking them at face value, the program taught me to hone in on people’s emotional state of being. This has become so useful in my life as well as my acting career. Ted is like a family member. He is truthful, honest and always on your side. What he wants for you is what he would want for his own family. He wants to best for you at all times and really believes in you.. He completely disproves the theory that those who can’t taech. In every notiion, Ted is able to recognize what you need and helps you achieve it. I had only one acting program to go to, it would be Ted Bardy Acting Studio.

I was in classes with Laura, the other reviewer, and we worked on a scene and did many exercises, and agree 100% with everything she said. I have graduated into the Advanced workshop and find it wonderful. The focus is on applying the work of the exercises to audition situations of today. If you stick with it, you will be working on readings and scenes with working actors with representation, and on the path to doing that yourself. The Advanced Workshop is more individualized. We are working on cold readings at the moment, and I am free to choose my own material. I am choosing to work on things that ask me to portray actions and emotions that I don’t feel very comfortable with, and I feel that I have a safe space in which to work on them. When someone(including me) misses the mark, he calls them out, but not in a way that is shaming or humiliating as is the case with so many programs. There are always examples, suggestions, constructive criticism, etc., and he does not pit students against each other. Also some acting programs are very discouraging about auditioning. Ted doesn’t have any problem with students auditioning and getting work at any point, and in the advanced workshop, there’s an expectation that you start to put yourself out there and try to get some work and/or representation, if you don’t already have it. Right now there are two students, of whom I am aware, that have representation in the regular classes.

Ted Bardy’s motto is” intense and personalized acting instruction for the dedicated artist” and that is exactly what I found here. I have been taking classes at Ted’s for almost 5 months now and found the training to be exactly what I needed to develop as an actor. I have gone through conservatory training in London and have a BA in Acting, and Ted has been excellent at tailoring the course to fit my needs, which he does with all his pupils. No one falls through the cracks– you will get to go up and work at least once, although twice is more likely, in every class. Ted Bardy is welcoming to students of all levels regardless of experience, as long as they are serious about their development as actors. This is not a frivolous place. If you decide to come here, come here to work. However, Ted is not one of these teachers that will tear you down out of ego. He is blunt, honest, perceptive and very supportive. It is clear that the work day doesn’t stop for him when he leaves the studio. He will do whatever he can to help you succeed. There is a wide range of people at the studio– from beginners to working actors. But there is no snobbery and the air is one of camaraderie. It is a safe space for people to develop, explore and test their acting chops. Best of all, its fun! :)
