went a while ago, was craving full English/Irish breakfast. food was ok, toast was nicely done. but the bartender was extremely rude. Ye I get that it’s early afternoon and I’m ordering breakfast with no drinks but it’s still not ok to just leave me there with that eye rolling attitude, while carrying a racist conversation with the other guy at the bar. never going back.

Great place. The bartenders are adorable. Sat at the bar for 3 hours and they didn’t ask for my card until I asked to close. You can sit at the tables even if you’re not getting food. But get the food it’s awesome. Food served late. Chill-ish vibe 5 $ vinho verde

$ 4 drafts and happy hour til 8. At least it’s Til 8 according to my girlfriend. Everything was fine, and the girls and I were catching up in our corner table. Until… We went to the bar to get our happy hour beer on tap. I’m sorry that I’m one of those people who just don’t carry cash. I ordered a drink and whipped out my CC and opted to close my tab. It was at that time one of my gfs decided to just pay for me with her cash(thanks jerkface!), but the bartender just haddddd to chime in. What did he say to irk me? «Yeah cash would be better. Because $ 4 on a card is kind of annoying.». YEAH? Well your face is annoying! Don’t have the heart to give them 2 stars simply bc this is my friend’s «favorite bar»… … Her taste is quite questionable at this point tho.

St. Dymphna is the patron saint of the mentally ill and of victims of incest. A 7th Century Irish born Christian saint whom this bar/Irish pub is named after. Wait service is very limited as my party of two placed our drink orders at the bar despite of sitting at a table. We had to flag a waiter numerous times who was difficult to attain his attention in taking our respective entrees. Atmospheric conditions are boisterously loud with the constant chatter of patrons in a dark, dingy divey-like bar setting. My Cos Cobb salad is abundant in portion and good value for the price. My friend’s Chicken Pot Pie was served without the crock pot non-traditional on a plate. He, unfortunately, cracked his tooth from this Chicken Pot Pie entrée. No alcohol libations for either of us. My Shirley Temple drink was okay. Price is reasonable. Table service is limited. Their dinner menu is limited. This bar is best for an after-work hangout for libations only. No business cards– do not request for one as there are none.

I love this bar. It’s dark, it’s a dive, and it’s an awesome place to have a few drinks with friends. It’s very casual — not one of those fancy bars where you feel awkward in jeans. They have a great DJ/playlist who plays a variety of new and old music that everyone can sing along to. The mixed drinks are delicious, and they have a nice selection of beers on tap. The bartenders are attentive — you won’t wait too long for a drink. We’ll be back for sure.

Dark and dive-y, but a good place to grab a drink after work or hang out with friends! I got there around 9PM on a weekday night, and the bar area was surprisingly packed. Thankfully, there is also a small seating area in the back for folks looking to have dinner or just be out of the way of everyone else. I’m not particularly a fan of Irish Pubs, so St. Dymphna’s didn’t really make an impression. Similarly, the exterior of this pub kind of blends in with the rest of the bars in the area, so unless you know specifically what you are looking for, you’ll probably walk right by St. Dymphna’s without even noticing it.

This place used to be great. You can sit down have a pint and/or fish-n-chips and just wast the day or hours away without being harassed or rushed by its staff, regardless who you are. I was regular at this place since the late ‘90s. And up to a bout a 2 years ago, they’ve had a revolving door of staff and the only ones they’ve retained are the arrogant rude obnoxious and holier-than thou staff, namely Ivan, Brandy, and that Asian dude who thinks that he’s a member of the T-Birds. Gone are the friendly and welcoming and sincere smiling service and staff. I think staff with attitudes have their place in the bar/restaurant business but only if you were an exclusive or swanky joint. This is a dive/Irish bar. Straw that broke the camel’s back is when I walked in one lazy weekend afternoon day, have had rough week and day and I walked in and sat in one of the few tables they have and just wanted hoping to have a drink. I said hi to Mr. Asian Grease Lightning, and as soon as I sat down, he tapped, no, he hit me, in my forearm asking«can I help You? not the sincere ‘can I help you?’ The passive-aggressive one that they mean«we don’t want you here.» But I was too exhausted and defeated to say«wtf, man?». So, I just walked out and never looked back ever since. I was basically treated like a bug that Mr. Asian Gangsta flicked. Maybe the neighborhood has really changed drastically and they are now catering to the newbies and flicking those regulars who have made this place a neighborhood staple. Much like the newbies that they now cater to, this place has become prime example of slummin’ it. It has the outside appearance of a run-down but neighborly pub, but inside the customers they attract are the trust-funders transients with AMEX black cards. P. S. All the time I’ve been going there, never have I ever been comped; and Eric, the owner, always pretended like I was never a regular there. if you are young European, esp. Portuguese, or look like one, you are treated here like family and royalty, esp. if you have a black Amex card waving it in the air for everyone to see.

I used to go there but recently I brought 2 girl friends and the barman didn’t pay attention to us he was even rude. I’m more than disappointed because when you bring friends you expect the same service as you use to have generally

Super casual and small authentic East Village pub. We came in here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed ourselves. $ 4 draft happy hour is always a good thing. Friendly and attentive bartenders. Cozy atmosphere but fun nonetheless.

This place is a great hangout place do not come here and expect to find a significant other. When you come here everyone is relaxed and friendly. Lay back on your seat and drink your drink! You’ll never feel better watching the English premier league and sipping on a Guinness at the place. The food is alright tonight I got a burger seemed just like a sloppy piece meat slapped in between two buns but it was alright to be honest I liked the French fries more but it’s really nothing to complain about just something I formed an opinion on. Anyway chill bartenders and if your looking for an easy night this place I definitely recommend!

The local. Would be a destination though if I didn’t live around the corner. So friendly, no-fuss, great bartenders any day or night. Best happy hour(and prices overall) around but be warned, you’ll end up staying long past 8pm. Great for a quiet drink but gets quite busy. We spent New Year’s Eve here and it was the best one we ever had. Laid-back vibe, cozy, fantastic food and service and, above all — you as the customer are treated well and with respect here. Love seeing familiar faces over the years, both staff and patrons. Sometimes it feels like coming home to family. A bar for good people and not-boring grown-ups.

This place makes me think of a cross between a pub and a hipster bar. Cozy and yet lively, homey but quirky at the same time. The staff dress casually like anyone else at the establishment and look like they came straight from a punk hipster clan, which serves for some fun surprises and great conversations. They’re also super friendly and super chill, which is always a bonus. Got the chicken pot pie here for $ 12, which was an unfortunately small portion, but really quite delicious. I can’t really comment on any of the other food, but it seems like some pretty solid pub fare if you’re craving it. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but really liked the different experience and would come to try some other items on the menu if I’m in the area!

Colosally underrated, if not just under-publicized(but maybe that’s a good thing?) neighborhood bar. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, the beer selections and prices are right, and the food is fantastic — well worth a stop in for some friends to get together at any time of day!

This is a good local bar with a fun ambiance, but the bar area was super cramped because the wall is too close to the actual bar. I was with a group of about 10, and we had to spread out. The beer selection is good and the bartenders were very nice.

Casual vibe, cheap drinks, great beer selection. Can’t get much better for an Irish pub in the East Village than St. Dymphna’s. The spot captures a truly relaxed feel and attracts a variety of customers between students, young professionals, and hipsters. It gets very crowded here on weekends(after 10pm) so definitely behooves small groups to how up a tad early. The food selection is actually delicious and a good value making Dymphna’s a good dinner spot. A personal favorite, not mentioned nearly enough, is the chicken pot pie. Truly one of the most amazing creations ever. Super savory filling on the inside of a flaky pie(shell) that resembles the shape of a beef patty. It is undoubtedly one of the best I have ever had and worth trekking to here for.

I was bar hopping with friends here on a Saturday night. This bar isn’t the kind of place I would walk into by myself, but there were good happy hour specials. There were five of us, and we found a table with little problem. 20 oz. beers were $ 4 during happy hour, which was cool. Service was friendly but a bit slow. The vibe was kind of non-existent. It was fine to come and hang out, but it was really loud. Not quite my scene. I think this was the bar with the chalk in the bathrooms. There are black walls and chalk so that you can draw pictures and write whatever you feel like. But I couldn’t help but wonder how many people washed their hands first…

Popped in randomly on a Saturday night. This place was pretty packed so I figured it would be fun. Well drinks were $ 7 and you only need $ 15 to close out a bar tab. Since I was planning on going to another bar afterwards, I didn’t want to drink a ton here. This place attracted some odd dudes. My butt was grabbed and then some 30+ year old made some awkward moves on me. I wished that the bouncer would’ve intervened… unless that behavior is encouraged here. Not really on my list of places to return to.
