I was contacted by Solomon Page several months ago, after they’d seen my resume on CareerBuilders. A woman named Xanthie Horowitz emailed me and we scheduled a time for me to come in.
I have to say that my meeting with her was one of the worst, most unpleasant and unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had in my life. She was immediately disdainful and rude, the room we were in was insanely overheated, and she spent the entire «interview» basically attacking every answer I gave. I’ve been meeting with employment agencies and other hiring managers for a while now, since my job was eliminated. My resume has been polished and customized within an inch of its life. Ms. Horowitz tore it apart, saying that her «clients» expect to see a more focused, more polished CV. Since I’ve had nothing but great feedback from my resume and on my interviews (including job offers), I discarded her «suggestions». I found her to be abrasive and knew that this hack agency wasn’t a place I wanted to work with. I’m working with other, classier and better connected agencies and didn’t want to waste my time. My advice is to steer clear of this place. Strictly low rent.

Great company to work for and like with any big name agencies, don’t wait around for the company to do all the leg work for you.

They actually did find a me a job :(. So they did not just waste my time with an interview, they have wasted a few month of my life.

Moved from (home) Los Angeles to NYC and within a month, I was recruited by Alana Capone. She’s very sweet, friendly and worked extremely hard to find assignments that interested me, in addition to sending me on dozens of interviews and even giving me resume&interview tips. She and Jennifer Shim were/​are ALWAYS available whether it’s by phone or email for any questions or concerns.
I’m now at an excellent company with a perm position and I’ll forever be grateful to Alana for the opportunities.
Just one suggestion to job seekers, DONT expect SPG or any agency to do all the work for you. Stay active and CONSISTENT with your recruiter and on your search, good luck!!! :-)

I only wish the best for anyone… but I want to share my experience in here for anyone who might benefit from it.
Firstly, I want to say that I don’t have to know every company or agency in NYC. So I applied for a job through indeed or something (i don’t remember which Web site) that Solomon Page Group posted. It was something in my field and I heard back right after I applied. So I’m guns call her B. B set an interview for me and all this time (even though I checked their website) I’m thinking that I’m going for a job interview. I’m trying to keep an open mind bc you never know! Maybe it’s not a meeting with the agency like my gut tells me… Right
So I get there and they ask me to fill all these papers that include everything from background to social security number! Bunch of agreements and info that i don’t feel comfortable signing. So I explained my confusing to one of the receptionist. That i applied for a job and heard back from B and now I found myself filling all these papers! I didn’t come here to work with the agency! This is misleading! I didn’t talked to her like this, i was very calm and confused. And she turned around to the other receptionist and said «what do you want me to do with this? «with her eyes rolled. WTF? I’m right in front of you! That’s so rude! Anyway, the other girl tells me that i don’t have to sign anything if i don’t want to right now, but if i get a job i have to. Alright… relieved a little.
B walks into the office. I get up to shake her hand… Shè hands me her card… says hi I’m B… That’s it. Doesn’t even bother with my name or shakes my hand. Who does that?
She also said some stuff to me that I thought was very cold, discouraging and judgemental.
I don’t want an agency. No thank you.

I see the previous reviewer has given them a glowing review prematurely in excitement of a possible opportunity. I too thought that Suzanne was a breath of fresh air, AT FIRST. She contacted me after finding my resume online and we had a brief phone screening, after which she presented me with a contract opportunity with a firm. I appreciated that she did not have me come into the office for what we could do over the phone, but my appreciation stops there.
Not long after I had a phone interview with the first firm, she also had another opportunity as well and needed my authorization to send my resume over. Of course I replied yes. Keep in mind during all this time she called me repeatedly and left me voicemails along with emails if I didn’t first pick up. She seemed enthusiastic… when it came to making her share.
It’s been a month now, and I’ve tried to call her repeatedly, left voicemails, and an email as well. No response at all.
I understand if the firms do not want to move forward with me in their hiring process, but could you as a recruiter at least have the human decency to say something, anything to me. It takes less than a minute to respond to an email.
Her behavior has been completely rude and unprofessional, and looking at the other reviews. it figures.

I’m giving Suzanne at Solomon Page 5 stars! Let me tell you why… Suzanne found my resume online (Linked In or
I believe) and called me, as she noted I was looking for a new job. Suzanne listened to me — carefully — which is a major plus for me as so many recruiters just skim over my resume and don’t really take the time to understand what it is I actually do for a living. Suzanne asked if I would meet with her or Skype if it was difficult for me to get to her office (which I thought was an excellent option to provide for a candidate). I did actually meet with Suzanne the day after we spoke on the phone, and Suzanne was very accommodating in meeting me after I finished work which was rather late in the day beyond business hours.
Suzanne forwarded me by email all the relevant paperwork I needed to complete before our meeting, which meant my time was not wasted in filling out administrative documentation when I got to her office.
I was greeted professionally by the Solomon Page receptionist upon arrival and Suzanne did not keep me waiting (as so many recruiters do…) she was spot on time for our meet which really impressed me and confirmed that she was about business, and took my needs seriously and respected my time (which I am absolute fickle about).
Suzanne informed me that she would contact me as soon as she had a role that she felt was a good fit for me, sure enough, 2 days later I received a call about a perfect opportunity which I have now been submitted for. So fingers crossed! I really hope that I get my next job through Suzanne as she deserves to get paid for working so hard on finding the right job for me. It is obvious to me that Suzanne really read my resume and took on board what we discussed, as I got a perfect fit job spec from her rather than 10 (as I do from other recruiters) that are nowhere near the role I am seeking or suited for.
I was also impressed with the follow up survey and email I received from Solomon Page, checking in on what I thought about their company, how they could improve etc.
I note a couple of bad reviews from other Unilocalers, one of them even admits that he’s never ‘even spoke to anyone’ from Solomon Page and then trashes them! The other person is looking for jobs on Craigslist… need I say more. and says she was just interviewed and that was it. An educated guess says that they obviously didn’t have anything that was right for you. there’s no need to blame them for your lack of work…
I say give Solomon Page a go yourself instead of making a decision based on crappy unqualified reviews… Whether I get a job through Solomon Page or not this time round, I will definitely use them again in the future and recommend them to my colleagues.

Well, how it works — they find you and tell you that they have a wonderful position that fits my experience, they interview you, telling you how many amazing jobs they have. Than they might or might not send you for an interview. In my case they just interviewed me. And… that was it.
I continued applying through craigslist and once in a while I saw Solomon’s page ads about new positions I initially was interested in.
So why they never contacted me if they had positions?
Once I replied to one of the posts and they set up a new interview again, not knowing I was in their system.
They post positions all the time but they never found me or my friends a job. They didn’t even offer any.
Don’t waste your time with them.

It’s amazing that all the reviews are exactly how I feel about this horrible and what I believe to be fake company. Let me give you my experience with these fools.
In 5/​13, I was laid off. Somehow, Solomon Page got ahold of my resume. They asked to do a Skype interview first since they were not local to me (I’m in DC). So we did a Skype interview. I met with a guy named Ron (who literally looked like the guy from Jersey shore — total meat head) and Drew Kelly. They said there was an opportunity for me so I kept my mind open about it. I went to the interview in McLean, VA. I absolutely hate McLean. I had just left a job a year before where I was there for YEARS and with the metro, traffic and holiday shopping, that place is a nightmare. So I already hated my life, but agreed to the interview. As all the reviews said, these guys were up my a$$. They were calling me off hours — around 7:30 to 8pm at night trying to find out how the interview went, how was I feeling about the position, etc etc. I wanted to know how much it paid. I kept telling them what I was looking for and they spent some time trying to tell me that it is smart to give a range to jobs just in case they won’t settle on a particular dollar amount. So I gave them a range, and in a professional way, they basically told me, that’s too much (mind you they were trying to go about 5−10k less than what I was going for).
So they kept calling and asking me what I thought. Then the next day, I told them I had an appointment at 1pm and I would be unavailable by phone. This guy started texting me and asking me if I was still interested in the position because he had not heard from me. Seriously?! Are we not besties? What job opportunity texts you?
Finally, we are chatting about the job and I am hesitant because I wasn’t sold on the location, pay or job so I really wanted to keep looking. They told me «I understand that the pay isn’t great, but it’s better than what you are making now.» I was collecting unemployment. He made me feel like crap so I accepted it. He told me that the temp to hire gig was not a 3 month deal, it was an hourly deal. So basically I had to work 300 hours for example and I did take a few days off because it was right at the start of Summer (Memorial day weekend) and I had vacations planned.
So 2 months goes by, and I’m starting to get curious as to what is going on. I sent Drew Kelly an email asking him how many hours I needed to complete before I was hired so that I could log my hours. No response. I waited a few days. Sent him another one. Sent him about 3 emails in a week span. Now I’m pissed. I ended up emailing the payroll lady and asking where he was. Basically as the other reviews said, once they got you in there, they disappear. So she must have told him something, because he responds. The next day, I got the boot from that job. I sent him the NASTIEST message basically saying did he know this was coming is this why he wasn’t responding? And being a recruitor wouldn’t you be checking in? If I was laid off, wouldn’t you be interested in what happened or to get me into another role? I ended my message with «don’t ever reach out to me and I will make sure NO ONE ever goes thru with them again.» They are definitely all about getting their commission and being done with things.
Since I worked with another recruitor who called me daily with opportunities and I was able to tell her yes or no if I was interested based on pay. She would CALL me that evening to see how the interview went. Followed up with the company and even followed up with me after I got a job to see how it was going. I’m surprised SP is still in business. Worst agents ever. And I hope Ron and Drew got fat and fired.

My interaction with a HR recruiter today. M says «it’s been a while, a year, since u worked for our agency. What have u been doing? How have you been surviving?» What business is it of hers? Then she says, «I have a benefits job, but the rate is really, really low» (No surprise there as she was fishing me about my $ situation earlier and how desperate I was, before seeing how much $ she can get out of me). I emailed her my resume for the job. I write this review here to show you job seekers how much of a scumbag recruiters are & just because it’s for a high level position, it doesn’t mean the recruiters get less scummy. When I told her I had a phone interview earlier, she asks, «oh, what company was it?» yes, like I would actually tell you. It’s not the first time she tries to get nosy about my business. Lesson — we all have to work with scum and sometimes u just have to let it go and ignore those idiotic recruiters.

This agency is like most the recruiters are full of shit. A bunch of arrogant pompous asses. They treat you very well when they are trying to make money off of you, but after you have the assignment its a total change of attitude. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ANY STAFFING FIRMS. They are a complete waste of time and just want to get you into any bulshit assignment so that they could start making money off of your hard work. Solomon Page. You are full of shit and you suck!!!

I tried working with them three times. The first time, one of the recruiters kept calling me, even berated me and told me I’m not serious when all I asked him was where the job was, and then proceeded to hound me in email to take up jobs that weren’t even in my field. What? Who does that?
Second guy was just as clueless. He was placing me for jobs in NJ (way too far!) and for jobs that were not entry or even junior level nor were in my position. Never stopped calling me even after I kindly expressed the fact that he was not doing a good job.
Third time, I was recommended to a job without needing to even interview (has happened with me before), went through the BG check, and heard nothing back a week later. The recruiter I was working with disappeared. I sent him an email. Called him. Maybe he got fired, because I can NOT reach him no matter how hard I try. I don’t know what’s wrong with this firm, but stay away.
Ignore them if they want your business — you’ll regret it. Listen to the over reviews! I’m working with other recruiting agencies that are FAR more professional and have placed me continuously. Stay away for SPG, especially the one in Greenwich!

Not worth the time. They would rather place you at any job rather than really helping you find something you are qualified for. Non-​stop emails and calls were unnecessary 75% of the time.

Never really worked or even spoke to anyone from the group. But have been messaged over 6 different times for «great opportunities», and to meet and/​discuss further only to be met with complete silence when responded to. I was even referred by friends and colleagues to specific people they actually met who worked in this recruiting agency and still no response. My emails were completely formal and to the point about meeting to discuss opportunities that these individuals presented to me first. Only did a follow up email after a week or so with a couple to see if maybe they didn’t get my email and to see if the opportunity was still available, and to my «surprise» still no response. I have worked with creative group and circle and it is nothing like this. So I guess I will make sure to keep Solomon page in my spam bucket of filtered empty promises for job careers.
Whether or not someone is qualified, not qualified, a job is available or taken in this business world when a recruiter contacts a potential candidate first for opportunities they should hold themselves accountable to your responsibilities and follow through with what you start. I know it’s partially about the money but if I owned a company that used a recruiting agency, I would not go with this one.
It hurts to say they have very unprofessional recruiters because I know they probably aren’t all like that, but first impressions matter and I wouldn’t want to be represented for a first impression by an agency who has recruiters that can’t even lead by that example.

I really hoped that Solomon Page would not be the same-​old, only looking out for themselves, types of recruiters but unfortunately, that is the case. You would think that I would have higher reviews for someone who got me a job but they were incredibly irresponsible.
I was hounded by Chris to take the position and was told that I needed to take their first offer. Of course, this wasn’t my first rodeo and I was employed at the time, so I pushed back but either way, I was still frustrated by how blatantly he was trying to make a quick buck off of me. I also told him that I needed prior approval for vacation that was scheduled and he assured me that he had gotten their approval. Two weeks before I was planning to leave for my trip, I found out that he NEVER informed my hiring manager but thankfully she understood and agreed this was not my fault.
It’s laughable that they now want references from me. I highly recommend staying away.

There is a reason Crain rated this a top agency. This is the first agency I have come across in NYC that works as a team and not self. Most recruiters care about their own commission and putting the client at any bs job. This is not only the best agency but team work you will ever see. Every recruiter puts in effort to help you find a job.
Solomon Page is amazing! They reply quickly to all my emails and calls, keep you actively interviewing, and confident. Within a few days I had an interview. Go into their office dress right, with your resume and be a good communicator. All recruiter agencies are taking a risk so please don’t go in there with your wife beater shirts and Jersey Shore shorts. Don’t get frustrated when you’re giving the recruiter an attitude, rolling your eyes, don’t have your resumes on hand and don’t get interviewed right away. Sell yourself and recruiters will sell you. So please people stop with the negativity!!! Positivity gets your more sweets people

AVOID!
This staffing firm wasted my time and they didn’t even follow up with me at all. I was suppose to meet with Alana Capone, but she did not even show up for the interview. So another recruiter met with me, the interview took about 3 minutes. She clearly did not care and just gave me a Prove It test to take at home. I took it, e-​mailed Alana three times and she never answered back. Complete bullshit.

This is a LONG over due review, but anyways… Solomon Page is another sad excuse for a temp agency. Like many others that put their hopes into this company, I was severely disappointed.
I ended up landing a temp job for 4 days at a hedge fund on Park Avenue, with the PROMISE of an interview by the end of the week. I was thrilled! The office was beautiful, the pay was decent, the lunch was free, but most of all, they were looking for a new receptionist. I busted my butt all week and did my utmost best.
Unfortunately, I was in and out of there like I never existed. I never got the chance to meet or even speak to ANY one in the entire office the whole 4 days I was there, except the other receptionist at the front desk. THERE WAS NO INTERVIEW. In fact, on the last day I was there, I noticed multiple young women coming in for interviews. No doubt they were there for the receptionist job. I was so unbelievably pissed. There was no «thank you» from the other receptionist (she didn’t even know I was trying to work here, she just thought I was «filling in.»)
I reached out to Solomon page to tell them about my less than satisfactory experience, and received no apology. Months later they are still reaching out to me asking me to «refer my friends!!» Nope, never ever happening.
