Sleep No More

After all of the hype I was expecting much more. It’s a $ 100 haunted house with over the top acting and dance if you can actually find the actors. I also wandered into a room with an extremely wet floor and fell flat on my ass in the dark. I have no idea how this places passes safety codes. It’s gimmicky and theme park-​ish. In my opinion don’t waste your money and if you do… don’t fall down.

This production, albeit interestingly clever, truly lacked the resources to «tie it all together,» so to speak. My experience did not live up to the mystery and macabre scene depicted throughout the «Sleep No More» website. The actors were pitifully scattered throughout the warehouse (aka, McKittrick Hotel) and the acting was average, at best. Perhaps more actors/​actresses are hired for weekend versus weekday shows; yet, the pricing isn’t on a sliding scale. «Sleep No More» relies heavily upon the dimmed lights and internal complexity of feeling unsafe within a controlled environment to rev up the spooky factor. Yet, after your eyes adjust and the realization is made that you’re aimlessly wandering around a dark building, one would be tempted (almost driven) to ensure that 10,000 FitnessPal steps could be accomplished during the experience. Also, be forewarned that appearing «coupled-​up» is a slap in the face for the «Sleep No More» staff, as they will do everything within their will to separate parties. Thus, refrain from appearing as though you are little more than a solo artist at this show.
Sorry guys, I really tried to like «Sleep No More,» yet, the bark was bigger than its bite. If you want to truly experience macabre and mystery, I would highly suggest researching an alternate venue.

Sleep No More is an experience that’s quite something else. Starting so many years ago, SNM still has popularity among New Yorkers and tourists alike. Non-​linear story lines, thriller, discontinuity, and confusion are what best describes SNM. It is a «you hate it, you love it» kind of thing.
To let one know what to expect (without spoilers), you come in and do coat check ($ 4pp) and then go to the counter to get your «hotel key». Once you get your key, you walk through this dark walkway and then go to a bar. A nice bar that you can drink your nerves away and get your eyes used to the darkness that will soon come. An announcement will be made and you go into an elevator and off to your SNM experience!
The hotel is about 100,000 square feet of sets made. Without giving it away, you have two types of experiences you can have here at SNM. A «follower» or a «wanderer» kind of experience. A follower is one where you can follow a character or characters. Although there is very little dialogue, the smells, acting, music, and performance really brings forth a true story. A wanderer is where you can wander into the rooms, touch objects, read things, grab things, and interact with things.
There are three types of people in the show. White masks are guests (YOU!), black masks are people who assist the show (they direct the show and performances), and no masks (performers). I would say that this show is not scary like a haunted house where things jump out at you with a chain saw, rather, it is more of a thriller kind of deal where suspense is built up and reaches certain climaxes.
Overall, I would say do this once, twice, or how many times you would like to do it with your heart’s content. It is a bit steep (~$ 100 per visit), but if you really want to figure out more of the story, keep on coming!
TIPS: Be quiet during the performance. If you come with somebody else, split off with them. You can compare notes at the end of the show and piece together what you saw. Do not hold hands with your significant other as it blocks the performance and people from running around. Wear sensible shoes. Utilize coat check as it gets hot up there. Do not force the performers to interact with you.

To start off, after you check your coat in you’ll receive a card in which determines which group you’re in. If you want to go in with your friend that’s fine pretend that you’re in that group; they don’t check the cards. Next, they’ll give you a mask and will ask you to put it on throughout the «play.»
When they stop the elevator they only let one person out, then they continue to go up the floors. The whole experience was weird, and I didn’t know what was going on until the end of it. It’s not even considered a haunted house. It’s as if you’re in a movie and they’re filming multiple scenes at once. Except you won’t know which is scene 1/5/2/6/3…etc. which means that you have to assume and piece the pieces together.
Overall I loved the experience but would not pay such a hefty price again. It’s one of those things that you have to try at least once.

Very important to go more than once for a different experience every time. Ladies do NOT wear heels and try to separate and have your own experience don’t be afraid to branch off from your significant other or friends they can actually take away from the essence of what it’s supposed to be. The cocktails downstairs at the hotel lobby are spectacular so before you have to join the mystery make sure to get there early enough to enjoy one or two. Along with an absinthe cocktail. Overall a fabulous experience. Make sure to follow the different actors as it keeps getting developed for the most engaging bits to happen. They need to have more of this sort of stuff throughout the city.

Overpriced haunted house for basic idiots. Impossible to find exit. You have to wear a mask and it smells bad and is uncomfortable. If you take it off you will be forcibly removed. If you hate the show you are fuuuuucked because they’ve separated you from your date or group and you can’t sit at the bar unless you’ve reserved a table. You will stand around growing more and more pissed off by the minute. But if you’re lucky maybe an actor will shove you in the boob to get you out of his way.
Tip: if you think haunted houses are dumb, you will think this is dumb. Don’t feel bad. This means you are smart.
Tip: if you like Shakespeare in any meaningful way you will think this is dumb. Again, don’t feel bad.
Tip: consider who told you Sleep No More was a good thing. Are they dumb? They are dumb. You are smart. Save your money. Especially if you worked hard for that money.
Tip: have a small tantrum about getting boob punched and they will overserve you lots of expensive booze in an attempt to make you forget the night. The alcohol poisoning sucks but the absinthe is great!

Regardless of what you’ve read nothing can prepare you for this experience.
First off, if you wear big framed glasses like I do bring some tape with you, tape the glasses to the mask, then tighten the string in the back, it will be so much more comfortable, though I had to carry the tape in my pocket the whole time but it did not negatively effect my experience at all. Smaller glasses won’t really make an issue for you.
So the show starts off very disorienting, and kind of scary, I felt a little claustrophobic at first, but I eased myself in and held my friends hand super tightly most of the time lol. We had no idea wtf we were doing, but it all slowly started to make sense. One thing to note, this is a very interactive show that requires a lot of physical activity. You’re going up and down stairs for hours, you’re running after actors, you’re exploring disorienting spaces, its an adventure of sorts, not for the light hearted. The show is pretty twisted and disturbing at times, and I’m glad I brushed up on my Macbeth before hand cause if not I would have been pretty lost regarding the story line. Oh and If you need to pee or are having anxiety attack seek the peeps with black masks, they will help you. Some people mention that you might get separated from who ever you go with we found we were able to stick together pretty easily the whole time, but I must admit I want to come back alone so I won’t feel held back and I am able to explore on my own.
Wear comfortable/​clothing and shoes, you will be sweating and uncomfortable if you don’t, believe me. I kind of felt a little bad for these girls and guys that wore super cute outfits, high heals, tons of makeup, heavy blazers, some dude even wore fur, by the end of the show they looked exhausted and in pain lol. I was happy in my Y-​3 sneakers, alexander wang t-​shirt and black diesel jeans. Oh and take advantage of the coat check.
Also, not gonna spoil anything, but you might get wet, or you might get some chocolate syrup on you, I SURE DID.
A must see for people who enjoy unique experiences, this is on par with Fuerza Bruta as far as unique goes. I’ve never experinced a show like this, ever.
Once is not enough.

WOW… SERIOUSLY. WTF! I thought I had educated myself on this enough to know what to expect but I didn’t have a clue! The most creative and unique experiences of my life.
To start … I was freaking out, but I’m a total wimp. The masks themselves are so freaky you almost think your hallucinating. Without giving away too much
Pros:
— All service staff are in character making you feel like you’re in another world as soon as you enter
— World class set design and detail throughout the hotel, you can get lost just looking at each set and scene
— Exceptional Dancing! Memorizing!
— Timing and sequences are perfectly timed, something is going on in every corner of the hotel
— Performers never get out of character; even if the audience is in their way!
Cons:
— Difficult to see some scenes since crowds are following the characters and you can have 25 ppl deep in any one room
— Actors sometimes run from room to room and you can lose them (i missed the final scene because of this :()
— If you suffer from fomo, you will be freaking out! making quick decisions to move to another scene, not knowing who you should follow, it can get stressful!
— Some people get very pushy. It can be really frustrating when you’ve all got the same goal but you can definitely get pushed around.
It’s a workout! Wear comfortable shoes, you’ll be walking around the whole time.
I have to go again and follow someone else to piece it all together, and see the final scene i seem to have missed :(

Visit #3! And reviewed as such. And disappointing.
Nothing new vs the last time you came (assuming like most people you’ve been before).
Everyone here is a little more casual too these days. Customers chatting around the venue. On their phones. Just not as atmospheric as it used to be. The cast were off their game perhaps today too.
Go once. Max. Or better still go to the new and more interactive ones in Brooklyn. As all good things, this is now tourists only.

I was nervous going here because of some of the reviews saying they didn’t see any actors and that it was extremely crowded BUT I decided to try it for myself.
I went on a Friday to the 11pm time frame and I have to say I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.
It was NOT crowded, I was able to get close to every actor and I was able to explore every room I wanted to.
The actors were amazing, the rooms were creepy and perfect. I did not split up from my group which at times was best because some floors were creepier than others and we happened to be alone while exploring.
It is extremely hot in there so make sure you’re not all bundled up and the masks do get really hot on your face. They say wear sensible shoes and you should definitely listen. There is ALOT of walking involved, lots of stairs and it is pretty dark.
Also, make sure you look for hidden rooms there are plenty and worth finding! Be sure to check out the scene with the witches (my favorite).
I would 100% go back and plan on doing so.

I have been dancing & seeing shows for 20 years, and this tops the list. It has everything a show-​seer could want. The warehouse where it’s held has been redone spectacularly to look like an old hotel to fit the theme. I could rave on for hours about this show (and have done so many times since I saw it in April 2015), but I will give you the shortened version.
Reasons to see SNM
— you like exploring and are willing to separate from your group
— you enjoy piecing together mental puzzles
— you enjoy dance
— you can deal with groups of people (esp at the end of the performance)
Recommendations
— review Macbeth so you can place characters
— explore on your own (you’ll have better stories to tell people later anyway)
— wear shoes you can run/​walk/​stairs in
— really immerse yourself and explore the incredible set they have laid out for you
— you can wander or follow certain characters. It’s up to you!!!
I would see this show probably 5 times if I could (aka if I had the $$) since there is so much to see and piece together. I only caught a handful of the surely many connections between the Macbeth and hotel storylines. Enjoy the show!!! *See my TSF review for comparisons.

Sleep No More is a MUST. If you are visiting, you MUST add this on your agenda. If you are not, you MUST see it now!
Sleep No More is an interactive play that takes place at the McKittrick Hotel. As a viewer, you are forced to wear a mask (for your protection, they say). You can take it off when you are in the bar area, which is very cool, old-​school, and jazzy. Speaking of bar area… A bit on the pricey side, but most of the cocktails on the list were delicious.
I was advised to brush up on Macbeth prior to seeing this show. Although I saw this twice (brushing up both times), to be completely honest, I still didn’t really follow the story at the moment of the play. During my second visit, I bought the behind-​the-​scenes book ($ 20) they were selling as you exit to understand everything better. They didn’t have this my first time here so I thought it was a pretty neat addition to help the confused folks like me.
Nonetheless, the theatrical production is amazing. Eerie and creepy vibes all throughout the entire adventure… Makes me feel like I stepped foot into a nightmarish time warp. The second visit was about 2 years after my first one but I could see that they had added rooms/​scenes. Pretty neat!
When you enter, the doorman advises you NOT to follow your friends and to explore alone. I second that recommendation completely. You will run. You will chase. You will see things that catch your attention. Don’t be afraid to explore the set, touch the items, read the letters, wander around, chase the characters. Sleep No More is really what you make of it, and I think coming in with an open mind but a curious heart is the best.
I’ve seen people approach Sleep No More differently. I see people follow a set of actors throughout their entire story, and I see people just exploring. There is no right or wrong way to do Sleep No More, but do note that they do a run through twice so you can catch some things missed.
Don’t be scared. You will be tempted to be. But don’t be. Honestly speaking, it was creepy at best but nothing pops out at you. It’s all suspense, darkness, and mystery.
It’s a little steep price-​wise but it was also something I’ve never experienced before.

You really shouldn’t be reading reviews before you go in and experience Sleep No More for yourself.
But WOW was I surprised. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, other than the fact that it was going to be «interactive theater.» The story is based loosely on Macbeth, and once you get inside, it’s complete silence.
Everyone is given a mask to wear while they’re exploring the hotel, adding an element of illusion and anonymity. Some suggestions:
— Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be walking around several floors inside the McKittrick Hotel
— Follow the actors. If you’re lucky, you might even get pulled into a scene
— Don’t be afraid to explore solo. You can’t talk when you’re there anyway, and you’ll get to cover much more ground if you split up
— Go early. Just so that you’ll have more time inside to explore before the end of the evening
— Eat beforehand. There’s no food inside, so if you think you’re going to get hungry, be prepared
— Ditch your jackets at coat check. It can get pretty warm inside, and with the mask on, even more so
— Keep some cash/​credit cards on you. For drinks at the Manderlay Bar when you need a moment to recharge
Other than that, all you need to do is keep an open mind and HAVE FUN!

I can’t WAIT to go back! I know this has become an immensely popular event in NYC and it’s not cheap, but it is totally unique to anything I’ve done here and it’s worth every penny.
My suggestions:
1. Don’t stay with your friends. It’s difficult to do and you won’t see everything you want to see (you have to be prepared to run off and follow these quick actors).
2. Don’t be on top of the actors in an attempt to get a one-​on-​one. I feel like anyone that was obviously desperate for an interaction didn’t get one.
3. Strike out on your own and don’t follow the large groups. Wander. This is how I got my one-​on-​one encounters.
4. Hydrate. I regret having two cocktails beforehand. I was dying of thirst by the end of it. You WILL run.
5. Get there as early as possible, you will get to go in first and have more time.
Things I DID NOT like about SNM:
1. The couples. All the couples holding hands trying to stay together blocked the stairwell and prevented people from being able to keep up with the actors. You can’t talk during this experience and it’s so much better solo, so SPLIT UP!
2. The temperature. Some rooms were unbearably hot, others very chilly. The bar was so warm we didn’t want to stay for a drink after. It’s also way too small for the amount of people for each showing.
Overall, AMAZING experience. DO IT!

I have a love/​hate relationship with sleep no more. My boyfriend loves it and has done it more than once, so I guess I expected to be absolutely thrilled.
First, as usual, to be entertained in NYC, you have to pay the price: approximately 80 dollars. That’s what it takes, I am not even complaining any more.
I am rating it high because the place, even without the actors, is absolutely amazing. They did a fantastic job at making you feel like you are in a very very creepy movie.
I am taking one star off the rating because — I must be dumb, it takes some time to understand that you have to actually follow the actors. So you miss out on a lot. Which is a shame…
So I guess that is the reason why people come back: you constantly discover new stuff based on the actors you follow, and you feel like you missed out on less if you come back actually knowing what to do.
Also, cool masks.

.Gaaaaaawd. This is NUTS, NUTS, I tell you! Before we even walked in, I already made up my mind that I wanted to return again and again! This is like a haunted house meets a porno meets an episode of American Horror Story meets a breakout game meets the Twilight Zone.
On a recent trip to NYC, a few of us decided to partake in this «ultimate NYC» experience. Upon leaving, I alternated back and forth between picking up my jaw off the ground and exasperatingly trying to explain what I just saw. Like other reviews, I don’t want to spoil this for anyone. I will just offer some tips and complaints.
My biggest complaint was really the logistics of the setup. Wait in line to pay $ 4 for a required coat check (okay, afterwards I realized that a coat check was necessary). But after paying $ 100+ a piece for tickets, why are you nickel and diming us for a coat check? Leaving the venue to retrieve our items was chaotic. This place needs to work on the coat check portion.
Other than that, some tips that I will remember for next time we go:
–I read before that you should split from your group. I did not do this as I was terrified before going in, but I wish I had. It was neat to share some of the experiences, but if we had divided and conquered, we would have seen more.
–On that note, try to get the earliest time possible! I was disappointed we could only spend 2 hours inside.
–Bring some cash to drink at the bar since you won’t have your belongings (see coat check above)
–Skip buying the book at the end. It was disappointing.
–Others have mentioned, FOLLOW THE ACTORS! I wish I had searched immediately for an actor instead of reading so much in the room I was in. Try to find someone to engage with immediately.
–Have an open mind. You will see some CRAZY stuff but this is such a neat experience.
–As other have mentioned as well, make sure you’ve eaten and used the bathroom before. And wear comfortable walking shoes.

Its like being a fly on the wall, a very dark, creepy and wall. As a voyeuristic adventure in sheer silence, this immersive theater experience is like a live action choose your own adventure. I did not know what to expect but I left wanting to go again.
Check in, get a card, and enter the lounge with a bar to liquor up your fears of the dark. The ambiance sets the mood and every 10 – 15 mins the host, who was a stunning handsome man who looked like he walked out of the Great Gatsby, would announce which cards were ready to depart into scene. Once you enter they place you in dark holding room handing you out these white mask and instruct you «from this point on, you shall not speak.»
The anxiety rose and the excitement set in. Enter an elevator and the door man will stop, let a few folks off and close the door to let another set of folks off at another floor. So if you come in a group, don’t expect to be with them the whole time… and I highly recommend to explore on your own, its much better that way and afterwards you can share your own experiences and piece the stories together.
There are no jump scares so the fear comes your own psyche. The music fills each room and every floor in sync. 5 floors of different twist, turns and different rooms. There are secret doors and hallways that are meant to be found within a certain time period before its locked or shut for the rest of the night.
I explored the floors all on my own and encountered a few characters here and there, but warning, some folks are bit to ambitious and gun-​ho on trailing the characters so expect to be nudged, blocked and pushed out of the way. The characters may or may not interact with you depending on the scene but each scene is intriguing and intense.
There is nothing much more I can add like all the other reviews other the explore, explore and explore with no expectations.
And you can keep the mask afterwards which makes a great art project.

Sleep No More es una de esas cosas cool que siempre te cuenta un conocido que hizo en el extranjero.
Para quien aún no conoce el concepto, es, en muy pocas palabras, una obra de teatro inmersiva. Transcurre en un edificio bastante amplio (6 plantas, si no conté mal), en el cual se desarrolla una reconstrucción de Macbeth, SIN DIALOGOS, en la que se interpretan varias escenas en simultáneo a través de las distintas habitaciones. Al comenzar la obra, al grupo que ingresa se le dan máscaras, se los lleva a la primera planta del edificio, y desde ese momento cada quien hace lo que quiere, camina hacia donde quiera, sigue a los personajes que quiera seguir, pero siempre manteniendo silencio y sin quitarse la máscara. No profundizaré más sobre la obra en sí para evitar spoilers.
Lo excelente: La ambientación. Uno ya se sumerge en otro mundo y otro tiempo al ingresar al bar Manderley antes de ser invitado a ingresar a la obra. Pasa un rato en el bar hasta iniciar la obra, durante el cual se puede aprovechar para tomar un buen trago a precios que no superan el promedio de otros lugares de la ciudad.
Lo malo: Quiero resaltar que lo siguiente es lo único que puedo marcar como negativo, y fue la cantidad de gente. Había, en mi opinión, demasiada gente observando la obra al mismo tiempo, y en ocasiones era difícil moverse de una habitación a otra o subir y bajar escaleras sin chocarse con otros espectadores, lo cual rompía un poco el ambiente y esa sensación de ponerse en la piel de un fantasma.
Es cierto que ya existen varias otras experiencias similares en NYC y otras ciudades, varias con excelentes reviews y que también me gustaría ver, pero no porque ésta se haya hecho «mainstream» hay que dejarla pasar, ya que todavía sigue teniendo un gran encanto y por algo fue pionera en popularizar este tipo de experiencias. Si ya visitaste todos los monumentos e hitos famosos de la ciudad, esta es la siguiente parada.

The performers are incredible. Coming from a dance background, I was intensely impressed by the way the performers were able to subtlety move the audience to ensure there was enough room for their dance moves.
This type of immersive theater isn’t for everyone, but if you have an open-​mind and an adventurous spirit, GO!
TIPS:
1) Go early.
2) Wear sensible shoes. Not only are you running around, but its dark and you don’t want to trip over your own feet. Plus, people back up and such, and can accidentally step on your feet.
3) Touch everything. The walls, the props, the trees, whatever. It constantly grounds you in the experience.
4) Take time to take in the smells, especially in certain rooms. SNM does a wonderful job subtly change the smell and it really enhances the experience.
5) Seriously, split up from your group and explore by yourself. The performers specifically engage people who are brave enough to venture out by yourself.
6) Pick two performers to follow around– sometimes its hard to only follow one, but I found I got a really lovely picture by bopping back and forth between two people.
HEADS UP:
1) There is no plot. If you know Macbeth loosely, you will understand the references. There were nods to Hitchcock too.
2) They don’t speak. It sounds really boring, but I promise, it works.
3) The witches are amazing (and really FREAKING CREEPY.)

I think this was a terrible show, I am not sure if maybe it is involved with satanic worship or just a different style of acting that does not grab or keep my attention but people seemed like they were in a trance and I felt like an outsider. I have no idea why this show is being compared to Shakespeare or anything bc there was no storyline, just people rolling on the floor, drinking, running around with mask in a zombie like manner. 100 dollars a ticket and I laughed for 20 minutes bc me and my boyfriend looked like lost pigeons, I used the ladies room and left with that ugly mask.
I love Jesus and maybe that is why this was not for me. I’ll leave it at that.

Not much to add to the other 832 reviews, except to reinforce that the sheer logistics of how Sleep No More is put together are just staggering. The detail in each room, the dizzying nature of performers whizzing past you, drawing you into the next space, and the jarring moments of intimacy when a performer interacts with an audience member, are all planned and executed amazingly.
Having seen their similar production in London of ‘The Drowned Man’, I have to say Sleep No More did seem ‘busier’ with more audience members, and a lot of unfortunately pushy people who seem intent on staying centimeters away from performer’s faces at all times to ensure they get their intimate experience at the detriment of everyone else (especially the performer). So, don’t be that jerk.
Otherwise an amazing experience, especially if you haven’t done anything like this before.

Le bâtiment est sublimement décoré, pièce par pièce, étage par étage, les acteurs sont beaux et les femmes habillée avec classe, coiffées comme dans des films des années 30. Si vous êtes sur leur chemin, ils vous pousseront avec douceur mais né vous regarderont certainement pas, vos masques fonctionnent, vous êtes comme une horde de fantômes qui s’invite dans leur histoire bizarre et glauque, pleine de passion, de violence, de trahison et de sang.
J’ai aimé la sensation de confiance qui émane de Sleep No More envers son public qui est invité à tout toucher, tout fouiller, mais qui respecte à la fois les lieux et les acteurs car, à quoi bon saboter tout ça ?
Certes je n’ai pas compris grand chose à cette histoire qui né m’a en rien rappelé Mc Beth mais j’ai passé trois heures dans un monde parallèle.

Immanquable a nyc. La troupe punchdrunk met vos sens en éveil, vous deviendrez inspecteurs/​spectateurs en vue subjective d’un thriller sur plusieurs etages avec vos congénères!

Vorab: Der Besuch ist absolut und dringendst empfohlen!!!
Das war eines der verstörendsten Theaterstücke, die ich je in meinem Leben gesehen habe. Es ist kein günstiges Vergnügen ($ 126 ohne alles), aber es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Online gekauft bekommt man eine Checkin-​Zeit für das angeblich seit den 30er Jahren verlassene Hotel, und wie in einem Hotel erhält man eine Karte für die Tür (eigentlich müsste es ja ein Schlüssel sein :-). Dann geht man einen extrem dunklen Weg hinauf und landet in einer alten Bar. Von dort wird man zu einem Aufzug geführt, bekommt eine Maske in die Hand gedrückt und erhält dann Instruktionen: Maske die ganze Zeit tragen, nicht reden. Und dann fährt der Aufzug in ein Stockwerk, von wo aus man das alte Hotel erkundet. Surreale Räume auf mehreren Stockwerken neben einer wunderschönen alten Lobby, ein Friedhof, ein Ballsaal, ein Restaurant, ein Krankenhaus, eine Art Wald, Läden, ein Operationssaal, eine Orangerie… und fast überall spielen und tanzen Schauspieler, gleichzeitig. Sie spielen eine erweitere Version von Macbeth (es hilft übrigens immens, die Handlung zu kennen), und als Zuschauer ist man Teil der Handlung, mittendrin.
Je neugieriger man ist, desto mehr bringt einem der Besuch, in den unglaublich vielen Räumen kann man Schubladen öffnen, Notizbücher lesen… sofern es die Dunkelheit erlaubt, denn es ist die meiste Zeit eher düster, wie in einem Film Noire. Es ist ein wirklich fantastisches Erlebnis, für mich das gleichzeitig heftigste als auch coolste Theatererlebnis meines Lebens bisher. Vergesst die Standard-​Attraktionen auf dem Broadway, bei Sleep no more war ich wahrscheinlich der einzige Tourist zwischen New Yorkern.
Es hat etwas von Eyes Wide Shut, auch mit den Guards, die in manchen Ecken stehen, ganz in schwarz, mit einer schwarzen Maske. Gruselig :-)
Unbedingt bequeme Schuhe anziehen! Und Ausweis/​Pass mitnehmen, es werden IDs gecheckt am Eingang!
Tipp: Die High Line ist um die Ecke, ein wunderbarer Spaziergang auf einer alten Eisenbahnbrücke…

J’ai le palpitant qui s’emballe rien qu’à y penser… La pression artérielle qui augmente, le rose qui monte aux joues…
Comment décrire Sleep no more? Un frisson qui vous parcoure votre corps… Votre taux d’adrénaline qui part en flèche… Et vos jambes qui s’activent alors que votre cerveau n’a même pas choisi dans quelle direction aller…
Cette expérience théâtrale active est absolument hors du temps et de l’espace, et totalement unique.
Vous n’avez jamais vécu cela !
Je né peux pas vous en parler sans gâcher votre plaisir, qui vient en partie de l’exploration et de la découverte du concept. Bien sûr, le lieu exceptionnel, la qualité hors du commun des acteurs, l’anonymat et le silence des participants, le souci du détail proche de la perfection des décors, le mystère omniprésent et le pouvoir accordé au spectateur de façonner son expérience selon son désir en font une expérience à couper le soufflé, toujours fascinante, jamais cliché.
Si je devais garder un seul spectacle vivant au monde, ça serait celui-​là. De Broadway à Vegas, du boulevard de l’Opéra au Hollywood Boulevard, Sleep no more reste pour moi en tête du classement.
J’ai lu quelque part que ce spectacle vallait le coup de s’offrir un AR à New York; après l’avoir vécu, je suis plutôt d’accord avec l’auteur de cette phrase.
Un conseil: Allez voir Sleep no More avec des amis, mais vivez cette expérience seul.
Vous aurez tout le temps pour partager vos péripéties avec vos amis autour d’une absinthe ou d’un bon cocktail quand vous aurez retrouvé l’usage de la parole.
Welcome dans la pièce de théâtre dont vous êtes le héros.

Attendez-​vous à vivre ce parcours seul, séparé de ceux qui vous accompagnent ce sera beaucoup plus riche et vous en profiterez mieux…
J’en dévoile volontairement très peu car pour moi l’effet de surprise est clé.
