Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Time Square

This place is actually pretty cool. It seems to get better and better as you go along. There’s a lot of reading and walking to do tho. Very interesting and educational!

Totally not worth it… I would have expected the gift shop to be more of a gift shop considering it has some of the coolest records known to man. But it has nothing… So sad to even call it a gift shop.

Ripley’s is a wonderful little place to check out if you’re in Manhattan and want to see some nifty exhibits. I would not recommend going to this museum without a groupon or voucher because I do think it is overpriced. It took my family and I under an hour to go through it which made it feel like the money was not worth it. The black hole room was definitely a cool thing to check out – very trippy. It is in times square so its always busy especially with tourists so be prepared to deal with crowds when exploring this little museum. Lots of interesting things to see, but just wish there was MORE!

Good place to check out if you have a deal if not you can do without… could be more interesting.

What looks like a tiny exhibit actually continues on and on for some good fun. Went with the wife last night and got the tickets online for $ 46. Definitely play with the Infinity Mirror and black hole room.

I heard that the wax museum was more fun than believe it or not– so I was a little worried. We purchased a groupon for 6 of us– which was 2 adults, and 4 children aged 18,16,11 & 9. I was happy with the whole experience and was glad that we went. I would probably go back– again but only with a groupon or steep discount.

The tickets are pricey. In addiction they ask if you want to purchase a book. The book is useless. I went with my boyfriend and roamed around but it didn’t seem that interesting. Only the black hole was fun. They also have one part of the stairs making piano noise. So every step you took would play a different note. The gift shop has a penny souvenir which cost $ 1.01.

Really fun place to visit. You have to be an extremely particular type of person to not like this institution. It’s a mind bend that will take you on every type of twist and turn you can imagine.

Fun and surprisingly creepy. We had tickets for $ 5 off but for some reason couldn’t use it towards our online purchase. Great for groups the more the merrier. I can’t still don’t believe half of the sights.

Went here yesterday and it was a lot of fun! You can’t just go and look at all the stuff and think you will get the full effect! You need to actually read the plaques on the wall so that you understand what you are looking at… there are a lot of awesome displays and there’s a lot new information you can learn while having fun! I live in New York and I can honestly say I think it’s definitely worth visiting this place to take some cool pictures. it’s best to get there early to avoid the crowds.

We had family visiting from out of town and read about this venue being «fun for the whole family». The kids 5 – 9 hated it and wanted to go home. This exhibit reminds of one of the freak shows people would go to in the early 1900… gawking at people with disabilities or abnormalities. Or ignorantly looking at different cultures. Mixed in are some «dead» animals with two heads and the worst part is the area where the show shows tortured «prisoners» that made the kids want to leave the exhibition.
Complete waste of money!

Everyone knows that this place is a tourist trap, but it’s an entertaining one nonetheless. Ripley’s is best described as a museum that features the Guinness Book of Records. I have been to the Ripley’s in Atlantic City as well and seen another in Niagara Falls, and they are all about the same.
This place is full of various artifacts and relics and sculptures from the strangest and biggest records in history. The two usual sculptures you can find here and in other Ripley’s are the sculpture of Walter Hudson — one of the fattest humans ever at almost 1200 pounds — and Robert Wadlow, the tallest man ever at 8’11″. The Wadlow is the perfect photo op and makes you appreciate how massive he was. Some other interesting parts of this place were the room with medieval torture devices and the vortex tunnel.

Ripley’s is another one and done for me. Actually I went to the Ripley’s in Key West also. So it’s two times and done. You can see everything in less than two hours. I enjoyed it to a point. Nothing surprises me anymore. I am not shocked or easily amused! Would I return? No!
If you haven’t been to a Ripley’s Believe it or Not I advise you have the experience!

I’ve been to a few different Ripley’s, and I was expecting a magnificent one for it being in Times Square, but sadly, it was terrible. Took us less than an hour to go through it, and totally not worth it. I’d pay max $ 20 I think if I had to go in here again. The one in SA is much, much better. The staff were all really happy/​excited/​nice, but I just don’t see paying $ 35 for this place worth it at all.

I’ve read many of the reviews prior to mine, and like a lot of my native New Yorkers, it just felt SO WRONG coming here. I’m the type that avoids anything touristy in New York because I know there is so much our city has to offer other than ‘attractions’ like these that don’t represent our city as well. However, with that said, I was pleasantly surprised at what a good time I had here and how much I learned about the interesting and weird world that we live in! Even a New York schmuck like me could love this place!
There were many cool, interesting, informative things inside and too many to mention here, but a few things really stood out to me and they were ‘The Amazing Micro Miniatures of Willard Wigan’ exhibit and the Black Hole towards the end. The Willard Wigan exhibit was unexpected, absolutely unique and really cool because at first glance I thought «What is this?» then I realized that he was a creator of mini-​sculptures! The mini-​sculptures on display could be seen thru a microscope since they were extremely challenging to see with the naked eye. Also, reading the excerpt about his work really put into perspective of how difficult it was for the sculptures to be created and gave me a chance to appreciate the scale of his work. Unfortunately, there were only 2 sculptures on display, but nevertheless very neat.
The other thing that stuck out in my mind was the Black Hole walkway towards the end of the tour. It was nothing spectacular and nothing to be in awe of, but it was basically a dark walkway with images spinning in an attempt to re-​create what it might be like to be in a black hole. The cool part of it was that it looked like a perfectly normal walkway when I looked into it, but once I stepped foot into it my whole world was spinning! It was impossible to walk straight thru the walkway without feeling like I was about to tip over! It was a pretty interesting experience and one where I witnessed multiple people unable to pass thru successfully without falling on the ground.
In total, it took us about 1.5 hours to finish touring the entire Ripley’s. Was it worth the experience? Yes! However, as a native New Yorker speaking to tourists, I would still advise that there are many other landmarks and attractions to see in NYC and Ripley’s should not be close to the top of your list! If you want to see New York, then GO SEE New York!

This was my first time at this location and that’s because we had some free tickets .I found it to be very amusing. There were a lot of oohs and ahhs throughout. My two daughters enjoyed it seeing all these weird things that were hard to believe. It’s definitely entertaining for the kids and if you feel like being a tourist you should stop in and take a look.

The place was interesting. Gave you a lot of history on Ripley himself and very interesting facts and pictures of people and strange things. There’s a black hole exhibit that was probably my favorite part of it! Lots of interactive areas but the problem was that a lot of them were broken and not functioning properly which was a bummer.
I would still recommend going there, and fairly affordable for being in the heart of time square. It’s cheaper to buy the tickets online!

Definitely much better than I thought it would be. DEFINITELY NOT worth the full price tickets! If you can get a discount, do it.
I’d say we walked through for about an hour… they had a lot of interesting and strange things for sure! Highlights were the shrunken head room, torture room and the lazer maze… also the tunnel at the end is trippy!!!

Give yourself about an hour and a half to go through the exhibit. There are some cool things in there, and some you just pass right by.
We got a groupon which was $ 29 for 2 people. I wouldn’t go if there was no groupon available though because it’s kind of pricey for what it is.
It was definitely an interesting place and Im glad we went.

This is a fun, touristy way to kill time if you’re in the area. Prices aren’t terrible if you use a deal for ~$ 30 for 2 tickets (which you can find online). There’s plenty of stuff to ogle at and take pictures of, but it’s more worth your money if you read the descriptions. Some of the exhibits are fascinating, while others are just kind of there as filler. Some of the interactive displays were really cool, like the one that has you crawl and maneuver through lasers without touching them. I was really bad at it, and that killed any careers aspirations of becoming a ninja. The black hole, spinny walk through tunnel was also pretty cool, but not for those who get queazy. This is a good place I think to take your kids (maybe not your less than 5 years old kids, but like 7 – 13 age range?).
Overall, I had fun, but I don’t think I’d visit a second time. It’s strictly a one time thing. Go with someone who knows how to have fun, and someone whose company you enjoy. If you’re on a budget, spend your money elsewhere since there are so many things to do in the area.

2 Freunde hatten mir schon davon abgeraten mir die Ausstellung anzuschauen, allerdings entschloss ich mich an einem regnerischen Tag dem ganzen eine Chance zu geben. Hätte ich bloß auf die beiden gehört…
Es ist ein 1-​Stündiger Rundgang durch eine Art Kuriositätenkabinett. Schräge Sachen von Bildern der Frau mit Bart, ein 2-​köpfiges Kalb, eine Feuerzeugsammlung, afrikanische Masken, verschiedene Sitten und Gebräuche, Aufnahmen von Dingen die Leute verschluckt haben usw. Die Berliner Mauer hat darin ebenfalls Platz gefunden.
Alles in allem hat mir die Ausstellung überhaupt nicht gefallen. Die meisten Sachen darin sind ziemlich eklig. Das Geld hätte ich lieber für was anderes ausgegeben.

Ripleys liegt in einer Nebenstraße des Times Square, direkt neben Madame Tussauds.
Der Unterwasserwirbelsturm am Eingang ist leider eine der wenigen Physikkuriositäten. Der Rest der Austellung ist gefüllt mit Geschichten und Bildern von außergewöhnlichen Menschen und Tieren. Es sind auch sehr viele Ausstellungsstücke dabei.
Der Rundgang ist stimmungsvoll organisiert und jedes Themengebiet ist gut voneinander abgetrennt.
Ein kompletter Rundgang dauert ca. 1 Stunde. Das Museum ist ideal um einen schlechten Tag zu überbrücken oder um Abends noch etwas zu erleben. Geöffnet ist bis um 1 Uhr nachts.
Von mir gibt es nur 3 Sterne, das ist aber mein persönlicher Geschmack. Ich hatte einfach mehr Physiktricks erwartet.
Der recht hohe Eintrittspreis lässt sich durch den New York Explorer Pass senken. Ripleys kann hier als eine der Attraktionen gewählt werden.
