History

Established in 2011.

Mr. Phillips has strong roots in New York. He was born in Brooklyn and attended the College of Staten Island, graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in sociology and anthropology. He studied entertainment law and landlord-​tenant law at New York Law School and graduated from St. Thomas School of Law in Miami in 1993.

Mr. Phillips was admitted to the New York Bar in 1996. He is admitted to practice in the federal courts for the Eastern District of New York, the Southern District of New York, the Western District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Before focusing on employment law, Mr. Phillips gained experience in business and other areas, giving him a valuable frame of reference from which to analyze the industries in which his clients and their employers work. From 2006 – 2010, he served as the Principal of Real Estate Development at TPG Design. There he was responsible for the creation, management and development real estate projects.

Manager

William K. Phillips is a New York employment discrimination attorney, and is the Managing Partner of Phillips & Associates. He has handled numerous sexual harassment, discrimination, wage and hour, and other employment law cases. He was selected as a 2013 Top 100 Labor & Employment Lawyer in New York by the American Society of Legal Advocates. Recognized as a stellar employment lawyer by his peers, he also serves in an «Of Counsel» capacity to other law firms, providing litigation supervision in connection with their employment law cases.

Mr. Phillips is a member of the The American Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association, Brooklyn Bar Association, American Society of Legal Advocates, and New York County Lawyers Association.

In addition to his passion for employment law, Mr. Phillips is a benefactor of the arts. He enjoys weight training, swimming, tennis, basketball, boxing, and racquetball. He is also a published fashion and portrait photographer.

Hey guys! Another review for guys for you to read! I wanted to speak to you about this Law Firm that I worked with. I absolutely LOVED working with them the whole process through. I know most law firms or companies aren’t typically good with this, so I was pretty amazed at how persistent and strong communication skills they had with me the whole process through. Casey, My lawyer called me immediately every time he had an update. Even if it was a small update, he called me! I would highly recommend going here for any kind of legal issues you may have questions about. In the beginning, I was udderly afraid of going through anything legal. Every question I had was answered. I am glad to say that I am completely satisfied with the service that was provided for me.

I have reached out to Phillips & Associates, specifically Marjorie Mesidor, for legal counsel on more than one occasion. Ms. Mesidor’s approach to servicing her clients is to listen first (which believe it or not has not been my experience with most attorneys), ask specific questions, then provide swift and direct recommendations. She is a clear communicator and explains all possible outcomes. I have always left meetings or calls with her feeling very informed. Last Spring I needed help with sorting through paperwork I was receiving from a former employer and subsequently an offer from a new employer. It was a lot of legalese and I was not comfortable moving forward. Marjorie Mesidor at Phillips & Associates broke it all down for me and gave me the information and the confidence I needed to make the right decisions. Everything turned out great and I would recommend her to anyone who needs help negotiating and navigating the mountain of paperwork companies throw at you!

I went to them with a work discrimination case. Sat with an attorney for a couple of hrs, telling my story and him going over things to make sure I had a good case. We agreed I did. But when it came time for my opponent’s lawyers to talk to mine, there was a different lawyer from this firm, who never talked to me before at all. When opposing lawyers «said» a couple of things (i.e., lies), this lawyer turned on me, said I had no case at all. Firm dumped me. Not long after, I came across the term «settlement mill», referring to law firms that make a living from no-​brainer cases. These firms will no way in H fight for their clients. The last thing they want is to actually go to court. If any resistance to demands are encountered, they run. That means if they like your case, you could likely do it yourself and not let them take their big fee. I’m giving 2 stars because the attorney I spent time with seemed sincere and took that time. But my overall experience with them is that this is a settlement mill. They were of no help to me at all. I wound up going the pro se route. If I can’t trust myself, who can I?

Never again I trusted this law firm to assist me with the harassment at my place of employment back in April– 2015, Overall they did nothing to help me. CASEY, the attorney to handle the case did no kind of Investigation. Here it is a couple of months later and I just got laid off. The harassment is on going

Very very nasty people. They work for more their benefits then yours. They did not update me on my status of the law sue while it was in action, yelled at me while I was emotionally unstable, and when I received a settlement they did not mention that taxes were not deducted and ended up owing 40% of my settlement all together to the IRS and the state of NY.
He did not help me when I had questions after my case was closed.
The exact words I received were «You should ask google»
Very immature and after I posted a review he was very nice and answered my previous question and asked me to delete this.
I WILL NOT!
I was screwed over, the lawyer was not on my side, do not hire these people!

Phillips and Associates, especially Marjorie Sharpe, guided and competently advised me during a very difficult time of my life and career. During my initial meeting with the head of my former employer’s Anti-​Discrimination Committee, I was extremely emotional and was unable to exercise sound judgment due to the hostile work environment that I was subjected to. During this meeting, Ms. Sharpe was assertive, attentive, poised and persuasive as she presented my position and allegations. Thankfully, Ms. Sharpe was able to settle an agreement with my former employer and I am very pleased with the end result. With that said, I highly recommend Phillips and Associates, especially Ms. Sharpe, as legal counsel if you are being subjected to any form of discrimination in the work place. Going to work is hard enough, no one should have to be subjected to nor tolerate such shameful behavior.
