Whether you’re a college student looking for a quick PB&J in between classes, a Greenwich Village resident dropping by for a slice of our famous Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie in the afternoon, an Upper East Sider picking up some peanut butter cookies to much on while shopping in SoHo, or a visitor from out of town who wants to try our Death By Peanut Butter Sundae, we look forward to seeing you!

History

Established in 1998.

Lee Zalben is the founder and president of NYC’s world famous Peanut Butter & Co. and the man behind «gourmet PB.» Lee grew up in Philly eating a lot of PB and during late night study breaks while attending Vassar College, he always won the competitions between his friends for the wackiest but best-tasting PB sandwich. It was then the idea of opening a PB sandwich shop sprouted.

While walking in Greenwich Village one day he spotted a vacant storefront. Never forgetting his dream, he quit his job in publishing, and the 26 yr old entrepreneur developed a business plan. On 12÷21÷98 Peanut Butter & Co. opened offering various kinds of PB sandwiches like The Elvis, as well as newfangled flavors like Dark Choc. Dreams and Cinnamon Raisin Swirl.

Shortly thereafter people wanted to take the PB home and today it’s 10 flavors are sold in over 10,000 stores around the world. Lee’s dream to open a PB sandwich shop did not just become a reality, but he also created the market for specialty PB.
