What I get for not Unilocaling first. Saw this place and just wanted sushi. Should have turned around when I saw the front door. Shady. The place looks very run-down and needs a face-lift. The sushi was okay. I got the lunch special. Very small sushi bar. The real reason I am giving 2 and not 1 star is they let use an outlet to charge my phone.

By outside appearance you may second guess coming in here and once your in you may still second guess why you actually came in. It’s kinda of dark in here and not very appealing. When I work in the hostess looked at me and walked away. I’m thinking rude, but I decide to look over the menu anyway. I decide to get the sushi combo lunch special I looked for the hostess to place my order. She took my order and my money and told me to have a seat while I waited. Their is no waiting area with sits so your forced to sit at a dining table while you wait for your food. The sushi making station was right next to me so I was able to see my food being made. The sushi station was clean and my food was made rather quickly. When the hostess brought me the bag with my food, she dropped the bag in front of me and said here’s your food. All I could do was shake my head and take my food. The sushi taste fresh and was good. I may eat from here again but it will definitely be take out only.

It’s what I get for not Unilocaling first. Ive never been to a Japanese place where the chefs were Chinese and That should have been of the many signs. Lunch special 2 rolls $ 8.993 rolls $ 10.99 comes w/soup or salad was the only thing going for this place. The place was empty for lunch time(another sign). I ordered 2 Salmon & Philly Roll. I’m use to good sushi, but this place was… Blah-blah and BLAH! Salmon sushi was bland and small as hell. I could have just bought it at a grocery store. Mostly rice. They put the side that look like it had a decent portion faced up. Philly roll was salty, first time ever I’ve tasted it like this. So i broke it down after trying 2 pieces and my guess was right on. Salmon was a shades. It was going bad. So i purposely left the plate disected and it was showing Their rice had no sushi flavor what so ever or hint or rice vinegar. The miso was just thrown together, oh let’s put a seaweed oh and onions and our some water. Looks like the restaurant is split into two different parts. Japanese sushi towards the front and Chinese towards the back. Aside from the Chinese or Taiwanese Music playing it’ll do. I should have just gone to white castle next door. People came in after me and yes when I did ask for more Ginger and Wasabi the chef was the one who served it, fast, but that doesn’t replace the fact that the food was bland or too salty. Skip this place Unilocalers.

Not sure where the bad reviews come from… Had a quick lunch. Service was friendly, sushi and sashimi was good. Not 5-star, but neither was the price . Fish tasted fresh, rolls were creative.

My mom and I went here and she got the 3 sushi roll deal and I got the cod bento, which comes with sushi. When she tasted her sushi, she thought it didn’t taste that good, and it’s hard to mess up a spicy salmon, eel and tuna roll. Then I tasted mine, which was fake crab and it didn’t tast good either. Yes, it was 3 for $ 10 but that’s no reason for the sushi to be bad. And it’s /called/Osaka Sushi, so it should be alright. The eel roll didn’t taste like eel, more like moist tempura flakes rolled up. Half an hour later, my mom starts to feel a little sick. I’m giving the restaurant 2 stars because the guy who served us was nice and service was quick. It may have been only one occurrence out of many, but the uncooked fish tasted a little fishy. But the rice was overcooked, so there wasn’t any solace in that. The cod was great, how I like it at least. Don’t go here for the sushi.

Big mistake eating here. We were desperate for food but were in a rush. We didn’t want fast food but were craving sushi & stumbled upon here. Food is bland and not fresh. Skimpy portions but I guess that’s ok since the food sucks. Everything was obviously pre-prepared. I barely put a dent in my food bc it wasn’t good at all. Dirty, dark, and out dated décor. Receipt was hand written! $ 14 for a nasty bento box. Worse sushi I’ve had in a very long time. Don’t eat here!

We were hungry and looking for a Japanese restaurant called Azuki found on Unilocal, but could find no such place at that address. We noticed Osaka Sushi across the street and decided to try. Unsurprisingly this is another one of those Japanese restaurants run by Chinese people. The service was fast and friendly and the food was decent(we ordered tempura bento boxes). The server even presented the bill with the tax already calculated for us! I don’t feel that this restaurant deserves all the bad reviews, although it’s nothing special, it’s still a good place to eat if you’re hungry and in the area.

If you want to eat questionable meat and have the worst service, then by all means, come eat here. We made the mistake of coming here twice because it’s near work, the first time being mediocre and the service was terrible. This time around the food was inedible. I ordered the General Tso’s bento box and the chicken was absolutely disgusting. It was greasy and slimy and I don’t even know if it was chicken. The server didn’t bring us our waters and when I told her that my food was bad she just took it away but I was still charged the full amount. My only regret is that there is not an option to have zero stars.

Used to go here a little bit and forgot why I stopped. Now I know. Uhh, so the wasabi is some weird creamy slop and the ginger is extremely bland. The shrimp asparagus roll is awful– the shrimp is old and limp and tastes off… And the asparagus is the same exact way. The tuna avocado roll did not taste very fresh at all either. My glass of water has one ice cube: it’s a giant ice cube frozen to the bottom fourth of the glass. I looked around and see giant single ice cubes in their glasses. The salad was enjoyable though.

Pretty good sushi. Made fresh in front of you but maybe not the highest of quality ingredients. They offer a nice lunch special but it takes a little while for your order to be completed so I would move on if you are looking for something fast.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. I don’t like dining in places where 90% of the staff is sitting at unoccupied tables eating their nasty looking food in such a sloppy manner. The one waitress that was working was not that friendly. They served me warm water, and didn’t even put ice in it. One of the pieces of sushi I had did not taste fresh. And, they got a B on their sanitary inspection. Yeah, that about sums it up.

It’s been years since I’ve had any type of sushi so when I saw this place today I decided it was time. I’m usually in the area at least once a week but usually looking for the cheapest food options. I decided to splurge and get the lunch maki special of 2 rolls(12 prieces). I got the spicy tuna roll and the salmon roll. I didn’t realize it came with soup or salad, so when I was asked I ordered the salad since I don’t care for miso soup. It took about ten minutes for my order to be ready because they make the sushi to order. Of course the sushi came with pickled ginger, wasabi and of course soy sauce. I am by no means an expert on sushi but the fish tasted fresh, The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce with some shredded carrot.

I would give this place no stars but clearly that isn’t an option. Don’t be lured in by their«three rolls for 13.95» deal. The sushi was AWFUL. In fact, AWFUL is an understatement. We got the yellow tail and scallion roll — terrible, spicy crunchy salmon roll — disgusting and then a shrimp tempura roll — stale(how do you mess up fried shrimp– you could fry a sock and it would taste good?) We each had one or two pieces but decided to just order something else.(I admit this was a stupid move, but we were hungry.) So we ordered vegetable lo mein. BIGMISTAKE. It was flavorless and gross. We paid and left. Even though our server was kind, I will not be returning. I recommend this place for those people who want to head start a week of dieting, eating here will turn you off food for a couple days.

We walked in because the neighborhood is a bit scuzzy and this place looks respectable. The first sign of disaster was when we looked at the menu and saw that it was a Chinese /Japanese restaurant. That can mean only one thing. Chinese sushi. First rule of sushi: «Never eat sushi from a restaurant that also serves beef with broccoli». Things just devolved from there. We walked on and our instincts were right. The chef and waitresses were all Chinese. Not good juju for a sushi place. We got gyoza, hibachi ribs, and three specialty rolls. The ribs were predictably tough, but most meat at Asian places is tough, so I was expecting that. However, they did have an odd smell about them, which made me nervous. It turns out I was OK, but I was a little nervous for a few hours. The gyoza were pretty good, but obviously frozen, so you can’t really give the restaurant kudos on good gyoza. They were, however, very stingy on the gyoza sauce. The sushi was, and this is no hyperbole, quite possibly the worst sushi I’ve ever had in my life. No joke. It was simply terrible. Completely tasteless. Devoid of quality, either good or bad. It had no quality whatsoever. Seriously. If you read any reviews saying the sushi was«decent» or «not bad», don’t believe them. The sushi was just dreadful. I want my calories back.

This place is pretty darn horrible. Furthermore, it’s super unsanitary… how this place got a B instead of a F I’ll never know. I just got takeout from here(dated March 30th, 2012) and I am praying I don’t get sick. But I did have one advantage: standing up, waiting for my takeout, I got to see how they prepare the food… so hold on to your horses: 1) I saw the Sushi Chef bend down behind the counter and blow his nose… with his gloves still on. And when he was finished did he change his gloves? Oh no. 2) I saw the hostess, who runs around touching money and all kinds of stuff, use her bare hands(no gloves) to pop salad into my takeout bento box. She thought she couldn’t be seen behind the refrigerator door but I saw! I SAW! 3) Finally, when they got my rice order wrong — I ordered brown instead of white — I saw another sushi chef take out some old brown rice from the fridge and warm it up in the microwave. You’re a sushi place! Fresh rice is mandatory! Overall, when I got my takeout, I didn’t touch the rice or salad and I had reservations about touching all the other things too. I did touch the miso soup which is basically just water… how do you get miso soup wrong? Overall, it was a waste of $ 10.60 and I endangered my health!

Drab and dark inside, as soon as you walk in, it’s a bit narrow and messy, with papers, plates, used dish towels, all visible on the counter right by the entrance. It doesn’t exactly feel the most welcoming. There are 10 – 15 dark wood lacquered tables with maroon cushioned seats, as well as a small sushi bar up in the front with a few more chairs. For those looking to score a cheap lunch, there is a Chinese steam table in the back. Such offerings from the Chinese steam table include the lunch box(General Tso’s, Chicken Broccoli, or Chicken Teriyaki Dark Meat) for $ 5, and the lunch box with three toppings over rice for $ 5. You’re probably already asking why a Japanese restaurant would also prepare Chinese food. It’s a mystery and usually taboo to mix Japanese and Chinese. I ordered the Three Roll Lunch Special($ 10.99) which is served from 11:30am — 3:30pm, Monday — Friday. Included is choice of Miso Soup or Salad. I opted for the Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll, Salmon Jalapeño Roll, and Eel Avocado Roll along with Miso Soup. The miso soup was served steaming hot with the usual fare of seaweed, scallions and tofu bits. The color of the miso soup was lighter in color and erring to the ever so slightly bland side. Not the best of miso soups, not even the norm, and I ask myself how can they mess up such a simply made soup which many Japanese restaurants just resort to the instant-made variation. The pink ginger and wasabi paste was standard, that of which I have no qualms about, nor did I care much for it. As for the rolls, the rice on the rolls were very firm and dense, even slightly wet. The pickled jalapeño in the the two rolls(yellowtail and salmon) were a bit questionable in sight. Very light green in color, but flavors were familiar, sour and spicy along with a nice crunchy texture. However the jalapeños overpowered the yellowtail and salmon, giving you the impression that you were eating all jalapeño. If you have the chance to pick at the fish, you’ll note that the fish is decently fresh and tender although not buttery soft. But another gripe I had was that the size of the fish in each piece was not consistent, some pieces including almost twice as much fish as some pieces barely included anything. The only roll I seemed to appreciate was the Eel Avocado Roll, but again, it’s not really difficult to mess up as most eel these days come frozen and just need to be broiled and reheated. The eel was yummy and avocado fresh. Overall, Osaka didn’t really do much for me. It far from impressed me, and I most likely won’t come back for a return visit. For the quality of rolls I received, I probably would expect to pay no more than $ 2 for each roll you’ll likely to get at those less than stellar mystery Japanese restaurants. Come to think of it, those places seemed to impress me more than Osaka did.

I’m very skeptical of Sushi restaurants that are not authentic so had it not been for coming here with a colleague at lunch time, I would’ve never ventured to Osaka. The first thing I noticed was the Chinese food in the back, and the long line for it. That tells me… they have good Chinese food, for sure. Upon careful inspection on my way to the bathroom, they offer a variety of stir-fry veggies, meats, steamed ground pork patties, steamed fish, fried fish… quite an awesome deal for $ 5 — 3 item combo in my opinion. I asked if they offer this special only for lunch — and unfortunately, it’s an affirmative. Delicious Chinese grub in sight, but alas, I must behave and not devour ghetto Chinese food(white Styrofoam box, plastic bag… it’s not something you’d consume in the restaurant although many did) as I keep my professional demeanor, and ordered the Salmon teriyaki. I was tempted by the sushi prices — but a foodie knows better than to ever, EVER order anything raw from a non-authentic sushi establishment. Salmon teriyaki was good, and the redeeming value of the California roll(bland enough I dipped it in teriyaki sauce), ghetto salad(iceberg leaves w/random cream-based dressing), and sumai was that everything was very, very fresh — which makes it a cheap meal I’d still come back to, even though I’d never classify this stuff as sushi.
