History

Established in 1990.

Dr Resnick & Dr Zicarelli came together shortly after graduating from NYU post graduate Endodontic program. We practiced with the late Dr Fried for approximately 10 years. In 2001 Dr Gallin joined us and then Dr Pruss, Dr Linenberg, Dr Castro. We pride ourselves on using the most sophisticated techniques and materials and we constantly strive towards excellence. We are open 7 days a week to better accommodate our patients

Living in NYC, you many times have to google and guess for professional and medical services. My regular dentist was unable to determine the cause of my tooth pain from a normal x-​ray (I looked at it too and it looked fine). I went to NYC Endodontics based on a google search and their availability to make an emergency appointment that afternoon. They took an x-​ray, confirmed it was inconclusive and then used their 3-​D tooth imaging system. That 3-​D image combined with a physical examination, they were able to determine which tooth had the infection and required a root canal. The staff was very helpful and answered all of my questions. They showed and explained all of their findings and explained why it made sense that the normal x-​ray from my dentist would not have provided enough information since the infection was so small yet so painful. I found the experience at NYC Endodonitcs very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably in a position where you know the work has to be done and you’re just hoping that the hands performing the work are gifted ones. NYC Endodontics’ team was the best option for my emergency root canal.
When I met with Dr. Courtney Linenberg, she squeezed me in for an afternoon appointment and her staff was very organized, efficient and she was so gentle that I fell asleep while she worked. The doctor was also very accessible for follow-​up and her communication was excellent and very clear about what to expect in the few days after surgery. I would definitely recommend this team not only for the great work that they do, but also because it was stressful enough to hear the words «root canal,» but they made it a better experience than I expected.

I had a dentist who did not properly treat a very infected tooth. Dr. Zicarelli, who is my hero, is one of most phenomenal dentists I have ever encountered. I’ll keep my review short by saying two things 1. There were more than one occasion where I fell asleep while Dr. Zicarelli was re-​treating my root canal, which should say a lot! and #2. On my last day with the doctor, I told him I would come to him every day to get a root canal if I needed it, and I meant it! Fantastic office, staff and beyond beautiful views. Makes going to the dentist a treat. Highly, highly recommended!

This is as good as it gets. .. there are some folks in my life I want to be absolute professionals and perfectionists.…that pretty much describes Dr. Tom Zicarelli.
From making the initial appointment to explaining options, procedures and expectations not only was the procedure painless but the process as well.
I had my first root canal years ago, in the USMC, by a fellow I am quite confident is now working as a GM mechanic in Nevada somewhere. This gave me a infinitely greater appreciation for the level or professionalism.
Gone are the days worrying about the pain of a root canal, now my worry is simply staying awake.
Dr. Zicarelli is conversant (I ask a lot of questions) on the most up to date techniques and is on the cutting edge of dental science. I also feel, since the ancillary process can essentially make or break some of these types of these things, compelled to mention his staff. Virtually everyone I dealt with, over the course of 3 visits, was an absolute pleasure.
I highly recommend New York City Endodonics.

The best experience I ever had getting dental work done. Dr. Resnick is very professional and what I like about his work ethics is that he explains what he is doing and what has to be done. The office is super clean along with the procedure and instruments used. They have top notch equipment as well. I was very impressed! Dr. Resnick even gave me a courtesy call to make sure everything was fine. If you are afraid of getting dental work done be sure your fears will be gone coming here.

I had started a root canal with my regular dentist and it was a horrible experience. Horrible enough to make me very fearful of going to a dentist ever again! My dentist started a root canal and when I went back to have it completed I was still in severe pain when she worked on my tooth. This went on for a couple of weeks as she gave me antibiotics for a «bone» infection that would not go away. I started to get very concerned and wanted a second opinion. I did my research and thankfully found Dr. Resnick! The reviews are correct. He is amazing! I met with him for a consult on 03⁄04 and it turns out I did not have a bone infection but there was still a live nerve left in the tooth! No wonder I had pain when the dentist poked at it! He said my roots were a bit curved but he was very reassuring that he could fix my issue and that «this is what he does». He even waived my consult fee and instead put it towards my payment for the root canal. I came back today at noon for the root canal and so far I feel great! He said I may have some discomfort but if it gets severe to call him day or night! How is that for service? He gave me 800 of motrin and so far so good. The procedure itself was 100% painless! He explained each step to me and kept asking how I was doing and telling me I was doing great. That goes along way. If I ever need another root canal this is the only place I will EVER go. Dr. Resnick does not take insurance however his staff was kind enough to submit the claim to my dental insurance carrier to see if maybe I can get back something. Either way it was totally worth it for the top notch care I recieved today. I trust him 110%. Nice office and very friendly staff from the front desk to the assistant helping him. A+ all the way! Who would ever think that a root canal could be such a breeze? Thanks again Dr. Resnick!

Each of my visits to Dr Scott Resnick at New York City Endodotics for a root canal were the very best they could be. Even though my first visit was at the urgent request of my dentist I was treated like a client whose appointment had long been on the books. The very personable office staff expected me and knew my name and had prepared a Tablet for me to complete with my personal information (and they didn’t blink when I messed up and needed assistance inputting it).
Very shortly I was escorted to Dr Resnick’s office and met the doctor, which was really a pleasure. As his assistant took x-​rays he read over the notes I had brought with me and consulted with the dentist who sent me. He then examined my tooth and agreed a root canal was required. Even though I, fortunately, was not in pain I was still asked if I would mind that my root canal was not scheduled for the next day as a big blizzard was scheduled and the day after seemed a safer bet.
My root canal itself was completely without pain during and after the procedure. When it was finished Dr Resnick showed me the x-​ray that shows the roots clearly visible in white and I was shocked because the three roots looked like a pitchfork that had been twisted by a tornado. How he ever could have followed those infinitesimal, twisty little roots I cannot imagine. I don’t have the technical expertise to write about all the equipment used for my root canal but I can say that it was awesome. Dr Resnick is truly a wonderful person, the way he speaks to his staff, his sense of humor and of course, his great talent.
And a word about the offices — they are simple and tasteful with a lovely view of Central Park and the gentle accompaniment of classical music.

I rarely write reviews on Unilocal,but I have to say that Dr. Resnick and his staff earned every bit of a 5-​star rating. I went in for a tricky presentation on a root canal, and Dr. Resnick took his time diagnosing the condition and explaining his findings to me. The procedure itself was utterly pain-​free — I literally didn’t even need to take a single aspirin after I got up from his chair. He also made sure to let me know I could consult with him about the tooth at any time after the root canal for no additional fee. I teach service industry management, and I would hold up NYC Endodontics as a case study in quality care and customer service. Now if I could only get my mobile phone and cable service providers to take a lesson from them…

Dr. Resnick was absolutely amazing! He definately exceeded the level of care I expected when walking into the office. On the other hand the male assistant seemed to be in a bad mood and after more careful inspection seemed to have just rolled out of the bar. The smell of his cologne could not mask the smell of liquor and his low tired eyes said it all, I remember my party days… Ultimately I recieved the care I needed I had expected such a high end practice would hold their employees to a higher standard after all this is not a medicaid clinic.

Highly recommend for all, and in particular people who have dental anxiety. i get SEVERE dental anxiety — like I start crying immediately when I sit down in the chair, and get panic attacks it’s awful. I needed a root canal and was extremely freaked out. I am SO grateful I found NYC endontics and Dr. Linnenberg. The entire staff was patient, comforting, and understood my anxiety. Dr. Linnenberg asked thoughtful questions about what exactly scared me and addressed all concerns– I didn’t cry or freak out once during the root canal. She made sure it didn’t hurt at all and that I felt comfortable. She even gave me a referral to an excellent dentist that was just as patient. So glad I found this place!

I went to see Dr. Resnick for my first ever root canal recently, and it was such a positive experience (i can’t believe I am saying that about a root canal!). I was extremely anxious and petrified of the idea of a root canal beforehand, but Dr. Resnick immediately made me feel comfortable and more relaxed, explaining what he was doing, and reassuring me that I would be totally numb the whole time.
I did not feel a thing during the procedure, and it was much quicker than I expected. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Resnick to anyone in need of a root canal. He even called me that night to check up on me. Everyone in the office is very pleasant and nice.

So no one likes getting a root canal, let alone re-​doing a root canal.
But if this is your predicament, then I couldn’t think of a better place than NYC Endodontics.
First off, the building (654 Madison) is easily walkable from the subway. Once you get inside the office, it is very clean and modern, with a great assortment of magazines and very fancy water dispenser. It’s like a spa, really.
The initial staff are very friendly and helpful. And this carries through to the rest of the staff. Celia (hope I spelled that correctly) greeted me with a smile and was on point throughout the entire experience.
Last but certainly not least is Dr. Courtney Linenberg. She is pleasant as can be… helpful, open to questions, responsive. Your comfort is always top-​of-​mind, as she consistently checking in on how are doing. She explains what is happening as it’s happening so you’re not left in the dark. And she is so careful at all times to minimize any discomfort. I honestly fell asleep a couple of times during the procedure. (BTW, the very soft lazy boy chair and Sirius XM in the background really helped to take your mind off things.) To cap it all off, she checked in on how my teeth were doing at 8:30 PM. A+ all around.
Suffice it to say, I could not recommend a better spot or personnel.

No one looks forward to root canal, but NYC Endodontics squeezed me in (right after Hurricane Sandy) and they were so accommodating. I was in such pain and they performed the root canal right on the spot with out any pain. Dr. Linenberg walked me through every step of the process and was out within an hour feeling 110% better.
If you need root canal, this is THE place.

Ive never had a root canal before and i was really not looking forward to it.
The Dr and assistant made me as comfortable as they could. The dr explained everything and was gentle and helpful which is exactly what you need at a dentist or similar office.
Only complaint was that this place was very pricey and didnt take care credit which is a widely used payment plan/​credit card for all medical bills.

Was in major need of a root canal. The dental office that I had previously scheduled an appt for canceled on me a couple of days before my appointment. Was frantic and pissed. I saw that Dr. Courtney Linenberg was within my dental plan. So I called right away. Good things about this place:
(1) The office booked me an appt for the root canal the next day. Yay!
(2) The office is clean and very nice.
(3) Receptionist and support staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and ready to assist.
(4) Dr. Linenberg was fantastic. Very pleasant, careful and one of the nicest dentists that I’ve ever had. She looks very young but she obviously knows what she is doing because the procedure went smoothly. I only felt pain from the injection of anesthesia and when I went home, it ached only a little but nothing that some Motrin didn’t take care of. The next day, which is today, I feel pretty good.
I highly recommend.

Dr. Resnick squeezed me in and did a great job on my root canal. The Dr. described the procedure as a difficult one, and it took him 90 minutes to get it right. But there was little pain, and his careful work and communication instilled a lot of confidence. He showed genuine interest in me and my tooth, and called me later in the day to see how I was feeling. The answer was/​is: great, my tooth feels good and I’m no longer in pain.

I’ve had a few root canals performed by Dr. Resnick and he was great. I have a long, problematic dental history, and have seen many dentists. The first time I had a root canal, I did not realize I needed one. I was in extreme pain, and my face swelled up over the weekend. My regular dentists saw me on the following Monday, and sent me to New York City Endodontics, where Dr. Resnick saw me within an hour on the same day, having made no appointment in advance.
Dr. Resnick was gentle and caring, and seemed to possess a genuine interest in his work, and was intrigued by my abnormal roots. He explained things as he went along, and the procedure was relatively pain-​free. The only slight discomfort was the dental damn stretching my mouth open the whole time so he could get to the rear molar that was being worked on. The chair is very comfortable and has a great view of Central Park.
The two other root canals I had were less dire, but the doctor’s professional attention was the same. Only once did I have soreness afterward (the following few days), but that is probably typical.
The only drawback is that his office did not accept my insurance and the bills were always above $ 1,500 or so. That required a different approach to «pain» management. I was afraid to see other endodontists, fearing if I paid less I’d get less. Hopefully I won’t need to explore root canal care anytime soon.

After 48 hours of excruciating pain, NYC Endodontics squeezed me in immediately and actually kept the appointment time they scheduled me for. Dr. Tom Zicarelli was patient, kind and awesome — he took care of the pain immediately and scheduled me for the follow-​up procedure right then. The office is super clean and high tech. I highly recomended this practice.

I went to their office after being examined and x-​rayed by the ubiquitous oral surgeon, Dr. Steven Rosenberg (see my review of him). They proceeded to relieve me of $ 1000 in three visits for «diagnoses.» Rosenberg, who had said nothing of cracked roots at that point, referred me to the endodontist there named Dr. Thomas J. Zicarelli, who said only that there was nothing he could do for me, and duplicitously avoided saying anything about the roots being cracked. (Total rip off.)
I later learned that Rosenberg had, indeed, already known of the cracked roots: in my failed small-​claims court suit, Rosenberg’s look-​alike, paid-​for representative finally read aloud Rosenberg’s initial diagnosis of two cracked roots, but only to taunt. (Total rip off.)
Total sleaze.
