I would be very careful going to this dentist. I wish I looked at the Unilocal reviews before going. I completely agree with Scott C, Joseph P, and Cesar R reviews. If you do go get ready for the upsell. They will «recommend» a deep cleaning and multiple expensive antibiotic shots.

It’s not often the term amazing experience get’s thrown out after a trip to the dentist, but that’s exactly what’s about to happen here.
After turning up on time due to the pleasant reminders i’d received over the last 24hours, I was greeted immediately, my coat taken and invited into the dental room (not professional term).
From the first person I met it felt like I’d been there a thousand times, everyone was so pleasant and welcoming — it felt as though I’d known these people for years.
When it came to the exam they spent time explaining what was going on with my teeth (in terms i could understand), what my options were and what would make sense with my insurance/​budget constraints. This was one of the amazing parts, as they didn’t pressure me into something I couldn’t afford, but let me know what should be done now and how to put a proper plan in place to get me to the best result.
I would highly recommend Dr. Nusblatt and his team to anyone who’s looking for a new Dentist or is tired of there current one!

I was referred to Dr. Nusblatt by the Lumineers Web site… from the beginning to the perfect smile results… It took only 3 visits for 20 teeth…10 on the upper and 10 on the lower to be placed.
I was surprised at the lack of drilling required to have these Lumineers bonding process performed… Dr. Nusblatt merely «etched» the 20 teeth in order to assure a good bond… no drilling was required as in porcelain replacement teeth where your original teeth are actually disfigured…
At our first meeting I chose a white shade that really looked natural and amazing… the gaps and uneven teeth were corrected by these permanently bonded veneers and I am all smiles at picture taking time… no longer am I covering up my discolored and uneven teeth… what a relief to be able to fully display your teeth without shame…
Thanks to Dr. Nusblatt’s professional and nimble hands, I referred my daughter to have a crown installed that she has neglected for years… She came in twice and the results were really great…
I highly recommend Dr. Nusblatt to anyone who requires cosmetic or any dentistry.

BEWARE of this dentist. They use scare tactics and pressure you to pay for expensive periodontal services that you don’t need. And they use obscure billing codes to shroud the claims process. I walked in for a standard cleaning, walked out later and was pressured into paying $ 1000 out of pocket for some random service. Here’s the story.
I normally go to a different dentist, but on June 4^th, they were fully booked. So I decided to try out Dr. Nusblatt for the first time to get a standard checkup and cleaning (which were both covered by my insurance).
I walked out that day and was charged $ 1000 to my credit card.
The dentist claimed that I needed a periodontal deep cleaning/​root cleaning, along with antibiotics. They made it seem like it was such an urgent situation and that I needed the operation immediately. This service was $ 250 per molar for four molars. Given the «dire situation», I had no choice but to trust them. I was scared and they said my molars needed attention immediately, so I went ahead with the service.
After the service, they asked for my credit card. I was confused — according to my insurance, up to 80% of deep cleanings are covered by my insurance. The dentist said it might be, but given the particular «CPT code» they were using, it was most likely not going to get covered. Thoroughly confused by this «CPT code» and other jargon they threw at me AFTER the fact, I had no choice but to pay up.
After my operation, I went ahead and got a second opinion from a REAL periodontist. Long story short from this second opinion — the periodontist said that the operation/​service performed was bogus. I had no «major» periodontal issues and did NOT need a deep cleaning.
Luckily, I had a smart and dedicated claims specialist to help me. She tried to call up Dr. Nusblatt on my behalf to understand what has happened. Why was I charged upfront even though I had insurance? Why were obscure CPT codes used while a narrative was not submitted with the claim? Nusblatt tried to defend these actions but they were not making sense.
About a month later, I ended up getting some of my money back because of the incorrect claims submitted by Nusblatt. Long story short — I had a very negative experience here. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

I got a group in for teeth cleaning and xrays at Nusblatt Dental so I’ll start with that. Turns out even though I have no cavities etc I had a LOT of plaque and gum damage as a result of that. The cleaning was extremely thorough and we’ll done. It hurt a bit but that was expected as I knew I had plaque but didn’t expect, well that much frankly. I haven’t been able to stop taking selfies since I came out because my teeth look Beautiful!!! I have been trying to get this gross plaque out from between my front two teeth with everything from whitening toothpaste to baking soda and its finally gone!!! Now I’m going to be smarter and get my teeth cleaned every 6 months.
The second thing is that the dentist cleaning my teeth was extremely worried about some damage I’m doing to my teeth which I don’t want to go in to detail about, but she stopped two or three times to explain to me that I really had to do something abt said problem or I will lose my teeth. They checked my insurance which naturally didn’t cover the expense that would be $ 850, an amount that I can in no way afford, necessity or not, and told her that it’s fine I’ll live with it because it’s not possible for me in any way. She left the room for a minute, spoke to Dr Nusblatt, came back and asked if I can pay $ 55 only as that is all they will charge me. I spent the next 30mins or so in utter shock because I was in absolute awe that somebody could be that nice. Things have been shitty to say the least for me recently so it took a lot of hold the tears back for the rest of my cleaning. Thank you for your hospitality, thank you for reminding me why I want to be a doctor, and most of all thank you for reinstating my faith in humanity. I really needed to see that there are good people in this world and I appreciate what you have done for me more than you can imagine. A hand shake was not enough to show my gratitude.
I tried writing a this on Zocdoc but couldn’t figure out how to, so just did so here, wish they accepted my insurance as I would definitely keep coming back– till I get a new carrier I’m going to tell everyone I know about this practice and highly recommend it.

Terrible waiting time, they put you in the waiting room for an hour, coming back from time to time to check but actually taking care of someone else in the other room. So basically one hygienist for the entire office. And then they try to up sale you. The dentist himself is very nice, just not an efficiently run office.

This was one of the most professional and knowledgeable dental offices I have ever been to. The whole staff was very attentive. Dr Nusblatt and the hygienist both took time to discuss my concerns while showing me on my x-​rays exactly where the problems were. My broken tooth is finally fixed and looks like nothing ever happened. The cleaning was also very thorough, she was able to remove some spots that other hygienists have left behind. Im finally not ripping through several pieces of floss every time i floss. Im very happy I found this office.

The office is really convenient to the location of my work and they always have appointments that I can easily make for lunch. Great bedside manner, definitely a recommended dentist!

GREAT DENTIST AND HYGIENIST! The whole staff are just super nice and accommodating. The office is clean, you never have to wait long if at all. and its conveniently located near my office. Simply a pleasure to go to the dentist! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This place is awesome with the cleaning, exam and the X-​Ray deal I got from Groupon for a good deal. Despite the negative reviews as per below, Angela who did my teeth she was fantastic and Maria also did a great job in making me feel good at being in the office. Go guys, great work

I broke my tooth and knew I needed to get a cap done. I called several dentists and the range of prices was astounding as well as some didn’t even seem to care of the urgency. When I called Dr. Nusblatt’s office, his rate was not only reasonable, but they fit me in that day. He was professional, and took the time to put in a temporary that would be comfortable and look good until my permanent cap came back. I went for my new cap and it fits perfectly so does the color he was so meticulous in matching with my other teeth. I had heard so many horror stories about people having to go back several times to fix the fit, that I was more than pleased.
My experience was an excellent one and I will continue to go back for my regular dentistry work.

I have been going to Dr. Nusblatt for 20 years and I feel like he and his staff are family. In fact, when he treated my son on Saturdays, he ordered pizza for my son and his own kids.
I did read the negative reviews, and I (and others in my office) agree that there is a bit of a «hard sell» with respect to additional services, but if you just say «no» you will find that everyone in the office is caring and dedicated to providing the best treatment. Not only that, but in an emergency, Dr. Nusblatt will squeeze you in immediately and make sure you go to a specialist who accepts your insurance in full. And if he happens to be on vacation, his covering dentist will make sure your needs are met and will accept your insurance as well.
Dr. Nusblatt bleached my teeth as a wedding gift — and he wasn’t even invited to the wedding! How cool is that!
It is so important to me to continue the great dental care I’ve been getting with Dr. Nusblatt that I was determined to rise to managerial rank to ensure that he would accept my insurance upon retirement. And I did! I feel safe knowing that I will be in good hands even in retirement (should that ever happen)!
I would recommend Dr. Nusblatt without hesitation! Just say no to any extras you can’t afford, and you will still be in the best hands and with the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.

I have been going to this office for over 10 years now. I have very sensitive gums and the staff has always been gentle and accomodative.
Dr. Nusblatt did a full cosmetic bleaching of my teeth and the process was quick and increased my whiteness by many many factors.
The office even has a TV when you’re in the chair so you can watch away the time (my favorite thing to do)

I was a patient here for about 7 years – which was much too long – and I was quite happy to finally part ways. The doctor, hygienists, and even the longtime dental assistant were affable and always quite pleasant. But cleanings here were particularly rough and painful; it took my switch to another dentist to realize the difference. But the real problem with this office is that it views its patients with dollar signs in their eyes – and I have the financial scars to prove it. They try to conceal their greed with their affability and hard-​sell tactics to pressure you into believing that your dental health is at risk and necessitates purchasing things like special gum medication (at $ 60 per tooth) and periodic (biennial) «deep cleanings.» Other reviewers have referred to the «suspicious upsell.» This was my experience every time I went there over 7 years.
A few examples and observations:
* They first pressured me to get the gum medication. At $ 60 per tooth, it is a financial commitment which they said was not covered by insurance. Years later, after having already yielded to the pressure a few times, I found out that my insurance would cover it (my cost would be $ 6 per tooth, 10 times less than Nusblatt’s price), if I chose to go to a periodontist (i.e., a specialist) for the treatment. When I asked Dr. Nusblatt to tell me which teeth needed the medication so I could inform the periodontist which ones to treat, Dr. Nusblatt evaded the question and didn’t give me the information; I guess it wasn’t that necessary after all. When I once did go to a periodontist, he denied I needed such medications.
* Dr. Nusblatt’s office recommended I get a custom-​made night guard. They prepare the mold, send it off for fabrication, and charge $ 850. I was aware that my insurance would cover a night guard, but Dr. Nusblatt dragged his feet on getting a «pre approval» from insurance (I had to remind the office). I refused to get the night guard until he verified that insurance would cover it. It turned out insurance would cover it, and they paid him $ 500, rather than the $ 850 he was asking from me out of pocket. It felt as if I was being hustled for $ 350, and that felt crappy. Mind you, I had paid Dr. Nusblatt’s full price for a night guard out of pocket before I knew any better and had lost it.
* The biennial «deep cleanings» are costly ($ 1400+), time consuming (usually 2 visits), and seem unnecessary, though they swear by their necessity. They might ask if you have a flexible spending account to cover the expense, as if money in a flexible spending account is not YOUR money to decide the best use of.
* There was once a time when Dr. Nusblatt was trying to sell Invisalign treatment to me (not covered by insurance). It turned out that when I consulted another dentist about Invisalign, that dentist said I would not be a good candidate for it unless he ground the main offending tooth.
* It seemed my hygienist was always coming back from a vacation with her family (2 – 3 per year). Perhaps it was just the timing of my visits, but it really did seem like the manipulative tactics, overpricing, and aggressive upselling were subsidizing a luxurious lifestyle.
* They would routinely call me at least once a year to see if I wanted to come in because my insurance allowed for a follow-​up visit apart from biannual cleanings. That might seem like a considerate thing for a dental office to do, but when considering the overall picture, it seemed like yet another way to bring in revenue. I asked why that would be necessary.
Over all, the top priority of this office is not necessarily your dental health, time and money, but their BOTTOM LINE. Avoid this place unless you want to waste your money!

It’s been a few years since I went but I agree with Marnie B’s review — at the end of every I was pressured me to get some $ 200 a pop «antibiotic» treatment for several of my teeth… when I finally switched dentists, the new assistant just shook her head when I told her and asked if I needed this.
The last time I ever went was when I left with my ear (why my ear??) ringing in pain from a simple cleaning. But traumatic, rough cleanings were always the norm when I went there. Maybe this was just the one hygienest but I definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone with a low tolerance for painful cleanings or suspicious upsell.

Conveniently located south of Union square and one block from N, R and 6 train makes this office easy to access from work and home.
I went in for a basic cleaning had a 9 o’clock appt and was out the door by 9:30am. With the supersonic cleaning system Dr. Adam Nusblatt (the son) used, the cleaning took hardly anytime at all and was painless. He also joked around the whole time which helped keep me at ease.
He also informed me I had a cavity to take care of so I made an appt for two weeks from now and I’m not scared at all :-).
Dr. Adam Nusblatt works there only Thursdays presently but Dr. David Nusblatt is there the rest of the time. I feel good about supporting a family practice.

They’re okay. I got a cleaning there, and it wasn’t very thorough – I could feel gunk on my teeth immediately afterwards. It really hurt, too. The equipment looked dirty. The staff is nice enough but I had to wait for 15 minutes after the start of my appointment.
[UPDATE] I had a pretty unpleasant experience the last time I went to their office, and this forces me to revise my review downward. They really go for the hard sell – every time I’ve been there, they recommended different procedures for my teeth and gums. The last cleaning hurt so much I cried. No kidding. I haven’t even been back to any dentist at all for a year as a result. If that isn’t a «stay away» recommendation, I don’t know what is.

I take great pride in my teeth (thanks to 6 years of braces and the sunk cost fallacy) and Dr. Nusblatt takes great care of my precious pearly babies. Appointments are super flexible and everyone in the office is ridiculously nice — to the point where you wonder if they left the laughing gas leaking…
If you’re a busy person (give me one New Yorker who isn’t) then this is the right place for you. They’re always accommodating on timing and cleanings are both thorough and fast. Can’t say completely pain free, but dentistry always comes with a little masochism. So just suck it up and spit in that little bowl with the water pump.
