Myers of Keswick

Ok, it’s s novelty shop at heart but if you’re missing some UK staple food then head here.
Primarily it’s the chocolate for me, real, honest to goodness UK chocolate (at eye wateringly steep mark up prices however) — but when you need your cadburys… well you’ll pay.

Outstanding pork pies and delicious sausage rolls. Service is rather curt and whilst I love my «home» food, I wish the blonde woman was more customer service oriented. (Other staff have been quite acceptable).

I have stopped by here from time to time over the years. They have a great selection of British candies. It is one of the few places where I can pick up Smarties (I loved them since visiting England as a kid). The chocolates are really good.
You can also get other British products: beans, shortbread, various sauces, marmalade, clotted cream, teas, and so on.
They have a good selection of pies. I’ve tried the shepherd’s pie, which was pretty good. They also had scones and other baked goods. You can also get the fixings for bangers and mash.
The prices can be expensive, but most of the items are imported.
If you want to have a taste of England, this is the place to go!

I used to love this place but the staff in there (old lady with platinum blonde hair) is so rude. She could do with some customer service lessons. I would go in there again if it wasn’t for her manners. The other staff are lovely and polite but she is just interested in a sale and has very little patience for anyone else. Such a shame really.

I used to love this place but the prices have gotten out of control. Completely obscene. I’ll buy my Wine Gums and Crisps online.

Visited the stand at Gansevoort Market today. Scotch eggs, millionaire shortbread and lovely service, thank you Roger!

British grocery mart; has essentials, also off-​beat items.
Bought Pork and Stilton pie Wednesday. Made by owner Peter Myers. The filling was congealed, tasty-​most likely best warm. The outside of the oval, however was thick; too crustacious. It wouldn’t have survived another heat-​up. Counter girl cute, pleasant in Low Brit accent. Long lines in niche market.
Free chocolates.

On my never-​ending hunt for savory British pies in New York, I knew I had to visit this spot. It’s a very cute shop with a friendly British family located not too far from the 14^th Street 1 train, and carries a great range of British food and drinks. Most notably, they’ve got an array of savory pies including my favorite, steak and kidney. The pies are very reasonably priced at about $ 5 per pie, and they’ve even got sausage rolls as well. It should be noted that most of the pies are available warm, but not all, and only the larger sausage rolls are available warm. Regardless, I’ll likely stock up on the pies as it only takes 5 minutes to heat up a pie in an oven. Taste-​wise, the sausage rolls are better than Greggs, and the pies are equally delicious. Definitely recommend a visit for British expats, anyone looking for savory pies, or anyone looking for something new to try.

A quaint shop with a moderate selection of British goods. They have PG Tips, McVitie’s, Marmite, HP Sauce, Cadbury, and other classic brands. The items are definitely quite pricey, at $ 6.95 for a tiny jar of Marmite or $ 2.50 for a can of beans. But British goods in NYC are few and far between, so apart from the nearby Tea & Sympathy (whose prices are comparable), you don’t have many options.
They also sell a variety of British pies. I got the steak and kidney pie, and while it could have used a bit more seasoning, the crust was nice and flaky and the meat was fresh and tender.

Mrs R and I stumbled on Myers of Keswick. Chuffed that we did. They’ve got proper tea and *real* Cadbury chocolate and cocoa. They’ve got haggis and other goodies the pre-​vegetarian me would have inhaled. Their selection of sweets might give me Austin Powers teeth if we lived closer. Great little place.

Better prices than Tea and Sympathy, and it’s laid out like a grocery store, unlike Tea and Sympathy where everything is behind the counter and you have to ask for everything you want. Here you can just browse.

Can’t believe I’ve not reviewed this place yet.
Ex-​pat here. This is one of the best locations in the city for picking up British stuff, including freshly cooked food to go.

Great great store and I am so grateful for them to save our British themed brunch. However I feel like they can really do a lot more with their marketing and position themselves as British grocers and deli and not just a dry food store. For eg. They can have pasties and sarnies on demand and make a limited but fresh daily selection of pot pies.
I feel like British food (much like American food) is underrated and needs a bit of promoting for people to come try new things. Also good beer selection would help — Boddingtons, Tetley Bitter, etc. would be much appreciated.

This place is AWESOME! Got my British fix after discovering it via Google. So happy I can now go there instead of ordering online. The staff is really nice and helpful, all of them had English accents haha The prices are a bit expensive but that is because of the difference of the UK pound to the dollar and they ship the stuff over. They’ve got lots of yummy English treats and foods. Love it!

Yummy pasties — should have asked to have them heated though! As a vegetarian, I just had the potato and cheese ones, but they were good! Good selection of British products, though a bit pricey of course.

If I could give a 6 star review, I would.
Everything about Myers of Keswick’s is fantastic. It’s a must stop for me whenever I’m in NYC & in need of British fare or products.

I’ve went here a few times its a bit pricy but that’s to be expected.
It’s also the only place I can get E45 skin cream.
If you want the same thing on a bigger scale go to the butcher block in sunnyside

If you are British it a fan of British food, this is the place to stock up on your supplies and cravings.
They have pasties, Scotch eggs, sausages, pork pies; then all the biscuits, chocolates and sweets you could dream of and maybe have not seen in years! They are ready to help to make your Christmas a proper British one (mince pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake, party crackers, the lot!)
Bring the only place to find most of this, there is a premium on these items, but where else can you ‘p p p p pick up a penguin’ (the original chocolate biscuit copied by the Ozzies as Tim Tams).

I must say that I had higher hopes for this place. The reviews I read made me very excited to go here since I’ve always been a bit of an anglophile. I pictured a store very much like Arkwright’s fom «Open All Hours» a wonderful little Britcom. Alas it did not stand up to my vision. Don’t get me wrong its a nice joint, just kind of meh.
The shop itself is a little small, but hey its Mannyhatty. It was clean but lacked a bit more English charm than I was attributing to it. What was nice was to see certain products I’ve only seen on tv. Jaffa cakes, twiglets, and pig snacks to name a few. Just to see those was awesome. Due to import and duty fees these products can be higher than one may expect to pay.
They do have excellent baked goods. Meat and tatty, pork pies, mince pie, shepherd’s pie, you name the English pie and they have it. I had the meat and tatty with an In Bru, a Scottish soda. Prices for pies are incredibly decent. Although they have great pies and bangers (sausages) there is no seating. Granted this is a grocery not a café, but it would have been nice to eat there instead of looking for a park or open spot somewhere.
If you are looking for Union Jack flags, teapots or or anything else English they have it.
A caveat to my rating, I thought it would be better than it was hence my median rating.

It’s always amusing to see a store selling British food stuffs a «speciality» store!
I first visited this place around two years ago and stocked up on a collection of my favourite Walkers Cheese and Onion Crisps. It was some nice items like Branston Pickle, proper British style Heinz baked beans, HP Brown Sauce, Salad Cream and the kinds of things you’d find in Asda back in the old country. I didn’t spot any Irn-​Bru however.
It’s mostly hideously overpriced, it’s imported and it’s New York City so a small packet of Walkers crisps comes out at $ 1.50. A small jar of Gold Blend instant coffee was almost $ 15. Curiously I spotted some washing detergent, surely you can’t be that home sick you want washing detergent from home?!
There is a selection of fresh foods such as proper bacon (sliced thick and not served burnt to a crisp), Scotch Eggs, pork pies (try them with Branston Pickle) and Cornish Pasties.
It’s a cute little venue and worth a trip if you’re feeling home sick or just want to try some Salad Cream!
