Michael Lorman, DMD-Joseph Derario & Associates

Doctor Lorman is very nice but i wouldn’t trust him to do real dental work. I too had a bad experience with a root canal /​crown. I ended up having to get all replaced by my new dentist. Which not only added cost but could have been potentially damaging as there was decay under the crown Lorman had completed (less then a year later).
If you just need a cleaning he is totally fine but I would not trust him with anything more. He also butchered my husbands teeth.

they don’t do cleaning on the 1^st visit so they are money maker and not doctor. Blacklisted.

Today was my first appointment with Dr. Lorman and I’m just amazed. For the past 10 years, I’ve never left a dentist’s office without crying either during or after the appointment. I’ve had the WORST experience with dentists. Dr. Lorman, however, was so friendly, explained to me exactly what he was doing at each step of the visit, and was extremely thorough. Today was the first time I haven’t cried at the dentist’s office, and Dr. Lorman is the reason for that. I highly recommend him and actually can’t wait to go back for a cleaning next week!

I was very surprised to see a negative review on Dr. Lorman. I’ve been going to see Dr. Lorman in his 200 W. 57^th Street office for over 2 years. He’s very nice and thorough. And I know a thing or two about scam artist dentists. My previous dentist claimed I had several cavities (prior to which I never had a cavity in my whole life) and needed several fillings. Thankfully, I got a second opinion about 5 – 6 months later and the dentist told me that I had no cavities! A year later, I moved and Dr. Loman was my new dentist. I still have no cavities.
So, given that past experience, I was understandably a bit cautious about dentists. But, Dr. Lorman put me at ease. After my inital exam, I inquired about invisalign (I had been considering it for a small gap between my two front teeth and my insurance covered a good part of it). One thing that really made me trust him is that he didn’t push me into getting them. He let me think about it and take my time. I had to go back every two weeks and he did a very good job of checking to make sure sure that everything was OK. I still have my great smile with perfect straight teeth! :)
The one thing that could be better: His staff tends to be a bit snarky. I am not sure why they always seem so upset. I really wish they were a bit more cordial and polite and a little less curt.

Avoid this place like the plague. Dr. Lorman is the worst dentist i have ever had, and possibly a scam artist. I worked across the street so it was convenient but he has charged me thousands of dollars and made my mouth worse. First, when i went in for a cleaning they chipped my tooth. This had to be fixed with a crown, according to him: over $ 1000. what crap. then the crown kept hurting and falling off and i had to keep coming back. he kept boasting «i stand by my work,» i wish it had worked in the first place so i didnt have to come back because of it. then he noticed another small chip: diagnosis: Crown, on a completely different tooth. very painful and expensive. he messed that up and had me wearing a fake one for weeks until it finally worked. when i complained he was hurting me he yelled at me and sighed in frustration. i told him it was not appropriate to yell at patients for notifying him of discomfort. he apologized. unbelievable. the worst part is that these were both tiny chips which should not have required a crown in my opinion. no discount whatsoever even though he hurt me, messed up repeatedly and yelled at me for being in pain. I regret ever setting foot in that office and i can only hope someone sues him for all he’s worth or gets his license revoked. I have no time for that right now and have probably passed the statute of limitations. i’ll never go back.
