History

Established in 2002.

After graduating from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in psychology, Dr. Michael J. Wei earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2000. Afterwards, he received his dual certificates in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at Columbia University School of Oral and Dental Surgery, and also completed a fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, both in 2001.

In September 2002, Dr. Wei opened his private practice in Gramercy Park Manhattan, and in April 2007 Dr. Wei moved his practice to Midtown Manhattan. He has since continued his education with many annual postgraduate courses in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, including certification as an Invisalign dentist. Dr. Wei spends his free time pursuing advanced dental education. He is trained at some of the top dental institution in the United States.

A vested member of the dental community, Dr. Wei holds membership in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and New York County Dental Society.

Dr. Wei continues to take continuing education courses, always surpassing the state license requirements. Dr. Wei had the distinct honor of being voted one of America’s Top Dentists in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 by the Consumer’s Research Council of America.

My experience with Dr. Wei has been excellent in terms of quality, service, and professionalism. His knowledge, craftsmanship, and compassion for fine dentistry has brought out the best characteristics of a top dentist. I found that his staff is very caring and accommodating to your requests and needs. Dr. Wei employs state of art technology for comfort and ease for his patients. He has a wonderful media entertainment system that helps you feels relax and calm while you are in the chair. Overall, this is the best experience I ever had. I was interested in Dr. Wei after I read numerous fantastic reviews but it wasn’t until I started seeing him that I’m a believer and recommend every one I know to see him!
I am a television personality and having a beautiful TV smile was very important. However, I wanted something completely natural, just with a touch of «wow» to my smile. Dr. Wei gave me just that.
I can say that even without makeup, my images in photographs, and video are that much more vibrant because my smile is now beautiful, yet approachable. Dr. Wei was extremely patient in explaining all the different options, and the facilities were amazing as well. I loved the neck pillows, the googles to watch movies, and he always put my needs and comfort first. It’s not often that excellent bed side manners are combined with impeccable service and an even more unbelievable end product at the end. The nurses and hygienists are also so sweet too! A high recommend!

Dr. Wei is a great dentist and is one of the best in his field. He is very knowledgable, professional, and competent. He and his staff are very welcoming and make every effort to make you feel comfortable during the office visit.
The office itself is equipped with the most up-​to-​date technology, which makes you feel like you are receiving the most top-​notch dentistry care.

Dr. Wei is one of the most caring professionals in his craft. He uses the time in your appointment to review with you what exactly is going on inside your mouth. Not only that, he will do the best of his ability to work with you to see what works financially. Dr. Wei & his staff are very friendly and do what they can to make you comfortable at the office because realistically, who likes going to the dentist?!
I definitely recommend Dr. Wei to anyone who needs any dental work done or even if it’s just for a dental check-​up.

Dr. Wei is a fantastic dentist. He is endowed with a deft hand which makes even the most invasive of procedures pain free. He is highly knowledgeable and is always very thorough in his explanation of any treatment that you may undergo. Dr. Wei is a great dentist with a technically complete and very patient demeanor. I have been his patient for almost 8 years and even followed him to his newer midtown location (to the compromise of my own time) because he has been good to me and done a great job, including different types of procedures that were all done very effectively.
He also has a great new office with great new technology that makes the experience that much more enjoyable… as much as a dentist appointment can be ;). I recommend him for any person looking for a new dentist!

Dr. Wei is a thorough dentist with a calm and reassuring bedside (chairside?) manner. I have been his patient for several years now and even followed him to his newer midtown location because after experience with mediocre dentists it was nice to find someone who really cares about his patients.
Although he’s recommended some minor cosmetic treatments to me over the years (whitening, straightening) he has never been high pressure about it. He’s real easy to work with and explains things thoroughly. I’d recommend him to anyone.

I used to fear going to a dentist as a child, but Dr. Wei has truly made those childhood fears disappear. He is so professional by being extremely informative and sensitive to his patients. I’ve been to some dentists in the past who do not seem very caring, but he definitely makes sure you are comfortable in every situation, whether it be a teeth cleaning, cavity filling or something more serious. During procedures, if you feel the slightest discomfort he informs you to raise your hand immediately and stop, but during my cavity filling everything was smooth and perfect.
His staff is just as kind and their service is great. I got to my appointment at 5pm and I got taken care of right away with no wait. You can’t substitute for service like that these days. I know how difficult it is to find a good dentist considering how many people fear it, but I am so thankful I found Dr. Wei. I not only plan on going to him in the future, but I am also looking forward to future appointments!

He is an incredibly professional, supportive, and attentive dentist. Any time I’ve had dental issues he returns my phone calls and has an appointment ready. At the office his skilled knowledge makes me feel comfortable and confident. He gives excellent advice for dental care and provides services for any financial bracket. I have been going to Dr. Wei for the past three years and have been impressed and appreciative of his dental work. Dr. Wei genuinely cares about your oral health and he and his staff are always very courteous and professional. The office is pretty modern, equipped with newer x-​ray systems, patient management softwares, a screen that plays DVD’s while you’re in the dental chair, etc.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Wei even before he moved his practice to midtown. He is very friendly and you can always ask him any questions on your mind, he’s great to get feedback from on your options when it comes to procedures that can be done.
Dental cleaning is the most painful experience for me since I have sensitive gums, but he takes his time and always remember the numbing cream before starting.
Above all, he believes in patient care and practices it as well. I’ve always recommended anyone who has hated dentist visits to give him a try, you might be surprised.

I first went to Dr. Wei about two years ago and I am so happy I did. I always avoided going to the dentist since I used to be very afraid of going to dentists in general.
From day 1, Dr. Wei and his team were very caring and responsive to my apprehension of having dental work done. They were very thorough and made sure I was comfortable the entire time.
Since then, I have had quite a bit of work done and every time I can honestly say I didn’t feel any pain and they continued to help me work through my fears of having dental work done. They even have a modern method of delivering anesthetic that I, who have always been sensitive to pain, couldn’t feel a thing.
I have recommended Dr. Wei to many coworkers and friends and will continue to do so. If you or anyone you know if the type of person who is nervous (I was terrified) of dental visits, trust me, you will want to see Dr. Wei. I no longer have any hesitation or anxiety about my dental visits!
