Excellent overall experience at Martial Vivot. I have been going there for about 2 years and Daniel (Danny) is without a doubt the best in the business. His attention to detail is what sets him apart. I never have to worry about a bad cut because he takes so much pride in his profession and making sure I am completely satisfied with the outcome. I definitely plan on remaining a loyal customer to Daniel and Martial Vivot!

Daniel is without a doubt the most talented and professional hairstylist I’ve ever met. I look forward to going in every time. He’s also a genuinely kind, patient, and interesting person who seems to really love what he does. That makes all the difference and it shows — I love what he does with my hair and I consistently get asked where I get my hair cut.

This place is great. Classy place that’s an oasis in midtown. I get my haircut by Katy and she is the best. She has managed to take this thick crazy hair and leave it long but not needing tons of products to go out.
I am totally hooked on this place and don’t get my hair cut anywhere else.

I’ve been going here for a little over six months, so about three or four appointments now. I’ve seen Daniel each time and he’s been fantastic. It’s easy to show a picture of what I’m going for and he gives great advice for my hair type and what would look best. Overall, a great place and def recommend.

I’ve spent years trying to find the right place and the right person to cut my hair. I’ve found both here with Katy. She’s the best hairdresser I’ve had. I couldn’t recommend her more.

Firstly, I seldom write reviews and secondly, I can promise you that I’ve tried SO many salons in NYC and London. I can quite honestly say that Katy is probably the best hairdresser I’ve ever seen. She’s managed to transform my really unmanageable and thick hair from covering it each day in product, to actually being able to go out, with confidence and almost zero product. She is phenomenal! Can’t rate her highly enough.

You will be hard pressed to find a nicer place to your hair done. The people were so nice. I went to Victor and was very impressed. He did a fantastic job and now I have a great looking haircut.

My haircutter is Victor and he’s fantastic. I have a funny habit of combing and shaving that’s comically asymmetrical. But Victor doesn’t want me to look comical, he wants me to LOOK GOOD. I so appreciate the time he and the salon take to do it right. I’ve never felt rushed or «just a number». There’s always great artwork up on the walls that rotates based on the owner, Martial’s, changing tastes. Full open bar, great clientele and men’s redolent fragrances for purchase. Can you tell i like it?

To be kind, it was a reclamation project and Victor was up to the task. It was also a combination big birthday and anniversary which added even more pressure to perform. Hands down, the best haircut of my lengthy life! Treat yourself and let Victor perform his magic for you. Even though you may think it is pricey, consider this an investment which will return all you could ever ask for. I will make a regular 6 hour drive to NYC to do this again. Thanks Martial Vivot!

He’s great at his craft and has a super friendly vibe. Has gone the extra mile by hooking me up with his friends for access to the best clubs and restaurants in the city.

I’ve only had Victor cut & style my hair, but the competence and care he’s shown reflects on the establishment as a whole. My experience (brief as it has yet been — two visits) has been far above what I expect from any establishment. Courteous, professional, and inspired.

Great hair salon! Excellent shaves. Garrett is awesome. Best hair stylist in America — Losi!

I purchased a gift for my husband which included brows, haircut and santa maria shave. We arrived on the afternoon of December 17 and Katy was first to start grooming Greg. she did a nice job on his lashes. Next he headed to Garrett for his haircut. I wanted my husband to make some changes in his hair and he finally agreed. I was there for his consultation with Garrett. He changed Greg’s style and it was one of the best haircuts EVER. I still love his hair and it has been almost 4 weeks. The shave was wonderful. My hands could not believe how smooth his skin was. I wish there was a way to make it last longer. My husband really liked the space. They evn offer you a alcohol drink. It was the nicest salon experience. Only negative is the price. Without a special we cant afford it all the time but when we can afford it, my husband needs toe here. It really was a fabulous cut.

I visited Martial Vivot recently during a 2-​week business trip to New York City. For those of you that don’t know me, i am a creature of habit. And one of my habits is that I get a haircut and shave every week back home in San Diego. Now, what makes this habitual practice somewhat odd to most people, is that I have less facial hair than most kids studying the Haftarah in preparation for their bar mitzvahs. In other words, I have the facial hair of a 13 year old boy; meaning, I really only have to shave once every 8 days. And when I say «shave», I mean rid myself of the tiny yet numerous hairs that occupy my neck like protestors camping out in opposition to bailouts of big banks and the criminalization of medicinal marijuana (see what I did there, I made my facial hair relevant to social issues facing this country today). So in anticipation of my travels to NY (or the Big Apple as I like to call it), I asked the concierge at the London who they suggest for shaves and haircuts… and voila, I have an appointment at Martial Vivot.
When you first walk into MV, it is rather unassuming. You are greeted by a friendly girl at the front desk who offers to take your coat (or in my case, a sweatshirt that further confirms why people are so hard pressed to believe I am 32) and get you coffee. There are also bottles of what I assume to be a fancy array of liquors. As someone who doesnt partake in drinking strong liquors often, this was neither a plus nor a negative for me. Then I am brought to the back of the shop by the woman who is going to cut my hair (or in my case, give me a fade/​blend). The haircut/​fade was pretty good, she was extremely nice and was so drop dead gorgeous that I made it clear to her that if I was biologically able, I would carry her child. During the haircut, I was then whisked away by another fantastically attractive woman who washed and shampoo’d my head. Now, as a man with a shaved head, this is very unnecessary. But as a man with a shaved head who has a better chance of being eaten by a grizzly bear while sitting on a cross-​country flight with Wade Boggs (Google Wade Boggs and flight), I wasnt about to turn down this opportunity — and it was well worth it.
Now on to the shave. In the words of Billy Crystal aka Fernando Llamas… it was maaaaaarvelous! Martial is like a French ninja. The shave was amazing, the lotions he used on my face smelled fantastic and by the end of it, my face was smoother than Billy Dee Williams napping on a silk rug covered by a cashmere blanket.
Yes, it was pricey, but between beautiful women touching my head and acting as if my horrible conversation skills were actually enthralling and the shave from Heaven… it was completely worth it!

I have been to what seems like thousands of hairstylists in the city. But since discovering Martial Vivot — I need not look any further.
I have been going to Martial Vivot for a couple years now and the salon continues to surpass my expectations.
The salon is beautiful inside and really sets the mood for a great experience and the perfect cut. The interior is a designed with a tasteful mixture of steel, wood and brick. When you walk in, a bar is set up against the exposed brick backdrop so you can relax and help yourself to a drink. The ladies that work at the front desk are always so accommodating and friendly.
The salon is located next to MoMA, Manolo Blahnik, Fifth Ave stores so you’re in the heart of it all.
Victor Szeto is my stylist and he is, hands-​down, the best. He has worked with my hair when it was long (down to shoulders) to very short (almost shaved) and everything in between. He listens to your ideas and is careful and consistent. He has cut my hair in preparation for big, important presentations, to my special bday celebrations.
The clientele is comprised of execs, Ford models, other fashionistos. Just a truly urban metro place.
I’m not surprised that this place is consistently voted as the best by New York Magazine and various other publications.
If you’re modern and savvy and looking for a high-​end salon, you can try the Japanese salongs downtown or other high end spots like John Allen, but you must also visit Martial Vivot.

This has simply been the best cut that i have ever received while in Manhattan! Martial is great. He is friendly, professional, and engaging during the entire cut. This is my second time going to him and he continues to impress me.
A lot of the clients are mostly business men in the area with a mix of Ford models, and etc. I get to enjoy the great service because of my long curly hair and allows the stylist to show off their skills so much more! I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an exceptional cut in a professional and laid back environment.
