Excellent fresh made food. The Enchiladas con Salsa de Mole was amazing. The widest variety of Margarita flavors I’ve ever seen. Great vegetarian selection. No msg or lard or animal fat used in their cooking. Best Mexican meal I’ve had in years!

Exclennet little Mexican restaurant. Solid food options for everyone. The margaritas alone are worth coming for. I wholeheartedly recommend the passion fruit frozen margaritas. The owner is very proud of his restaurant, and it shows. A great little addition to tenth avenue. PS tres leches cake was a total unexpected plus!

Very short version: Solid Tex-Mex in Hell’s Kitchen with 23 flavors of margarita and complimentary dessert that you will get as long as you don’t act like an asshole. Short version: I filled up on the nacho chips and salsa, and slowly ate my way through my veggie quesadilla as my stomach turned into leaden cement. Did I still eat most of the free tres leches dessert, even though I had that exact same dessert five hours ago? Yes. Because life is all about eating free food. Slightly longer version: The manager cares a lot about this restaurant, and it shows. He treated every table as though they were regulars. I like trying out new places in the city, so, rather unfortunately, I’m pretty much a newbie at every place I visit. I’ve seen a lot of restaurant owners belly up to regulars and spend the whole evening cracking jokes, and then toss a perfunctory«How are things» at my table. Here, the manager took the time to explain how the dishes were made without any animal fats, MSG or lard; he encouraged us to try the tres leches; and, best of all, he refilled our two buckets of chips when he saw we were running low. The table next to us had two birthdays, and he ran to get a second serving of tres leches for the other girl. When one customer left her scarf behind, he had a waiter run out and return it. The food is pretty standard Tex-Mex(though my friend demolished his steak nachos), but the service was absolutely top-notch. NEXTTIME: one of the 23 margarita flavors, seafood enchilada, mango chicken

Was visiting NYC and was looking at Unilocal to find a good Mexican food restaurant and bar. Relied on the reviews and it took me here; very glad it did. The food was very good and the service was great.

Hands down the best customer service I’ve ever received. The owner made sure to check on every table personally, even taking our food orders. This restaurant is very aware of social media and understands how important word of mouth can be. Despite it being a Friday night we were seated immediately, waited on constantly until the rest of our party made it. We were even brought dessert on the house. The next time I’m in the area I’ll be coming back without a second of hesitation. To add to everything I’ve already said, the food was excellent, the margaritas were perfect, and the prices(especially the happy hour specials) were on point. Come here. Best, friendliest, Mexican restaurant I have ever been to.

I had to go into the city to bring my daughter to a concert, got on Unilocal to see area places. Mamacitas had great reviews so figured what the heck! Well Im glad I did! Happy hour frozen margaritas are to die for and I dont normally do tequila. Owner/manager made you feel at home. We were there on a Tuesday so we did occupy a table for hours which Im sure would be an issue on a busy weekend since its a tight squeeze inside. All good though. We started w the fresh guacamole and chips and server keep us in chips all night, next was chorizo quesadilla for an app… Fresh and yummy. We split a combo for dinner and had beef burrito and chicken enchilada, both on point. Came w refried beans and rice. Complimentary piece of tres leche to share for dessert… Yumm. Id def recommend to go and will def go back myself when in the area

How can I call it anything other than what it is? Mexican food prepared by a Pakistani who lacks the first semblance of a clue. Avoid. Avoid. Bail session. Unless you’re just drinking. Add a star.

Service was amazing. Food was made fast and very fresh. The margaritas stole the show. Best margaritas I’ve had in NYC hands down. I ordered the tacos al carbon with steaks, which was cooked to perfection. Nachos, not too loaded but packed with flavor. It was my first time and it won’t be my last!

The happy hour is life here. Let me tell you from 12 – 8 pm you can get 7 $ frozen margaritas that are stronger than anything I have had to drink in NYC since I moved here. I ended up starting off with a pineapple one then got a watermelon one. I couldn’t even finish my second one because I was so drunk from the first. The staff here is really efficient and friendly. They let us sample the chocolate margarita because we were curious about what it was like. It was so good. It was a chocolate liquor over the frozen tequila. Noms. The food was decent. My friend got the chicken burrito lunch special, which was 9.95 $ for a huge burrito, rice and beans, and guac. I went for the quesadilla special, which was really tiny but still pretty good. The owner was so nice. He came up to talk to us and gave us a tres leches cake on the house and gave me a plate of their rice and beans, which was good. We will definitely be back here during to drink those strong margaritas and try all the 25 flavors!

Mamasita’s is pretty small. Happy hour is great for trying all the unique margaritas. Food is decent but nothing to write about. I’d definitely come back to try some more margaritas.

I usually don’t write reviews but this place just blew me away! I am from California and I am used to great Mexican food and many of the places I have been to here have not compared; however, Mamasita was amazing! The food was delicious and was brought out super fast. To say the service was one of the best in the city would be an understatement! I would recommend this place to everyone! P. S. Their margaritas are awesome and with the happy hour being noon — 8 pm, it is hard to not get a few.

Smaller and more intimate than I’d imagined. Cute. Good food & drinks. It seemed like a lot of groups/families were there together. Great service. Food came out fast, fresh, and you could tell it was straight from the stove. Delicious. Great date! Note: the beef enchilada is ground beef not shredded steak. Still tasty.

We looked at The reviews and decided to try this place. Amazing food, the service is very good. I recommend anyone that wants to have authentic Mexican and even vegetarian without any chicken stock, lard or anything non Venetian this is the place. Guacamole was fresh, all the veggies were fresh. Tequila Chicken and Shrimp was amazing. Overall great place and great food.

Decent Mex with large portions, but the high price points don’t align with the average quality of the food. I braved the rain and made the trek here from Astoria for a get together with friends. Being the dingus I am, I of course forgot to bring my umbrella with me and got completely drenched on the walk from the subway. I arrived and immediately beelined it to the bathroom. Thankfully this place had those jet engine-like Xcelerator hand dryers, which are so much more efficient at drying clothes than your normal commercial hand dryers.(I’m quickly realizing I probably shouldn’t know this fact, and should just bring a damn umbrella in the first place). Anyway, the bathroom was clean — score! Alright to the actual meal itself… Once the rest of the party arrived, the 8 of us were seated and started with some cervezas along with chips and quac. This place is actually known for it’s novelty margarita bowls, but since usually bad things happen when I drink tequila, those were an obvious pass. The guac was fresh and tasty, though the chips were a bit bland and flimsy. A bit of a let down there. For my entrée, I ended up going with the skirt steak fajitas. You know the drill… the fajitas came out served atop a sizzling plate along with peppers and onions, and a side of rice and beans. Overall the steak was decent — cooked just right and flavored with what I think was a soy sauce-based marinade. Not typical Mex flavors by any means, but overall the dish wasn’t bad. Though I was irked that getting guac or sour cream on the side was an additional change. Given that I’m already paying a hefty price of $ 25 for fajitas, those accompaniments should really just come standard, no? The service was fine — the food came out fairly quickly and there were no mistakes with anyone’s order. We split the bill 8 ways and it came out to about $ 45 a person including tax and tip. We each had a couple of beers, but even so, that’s still just too much for chips and guac and mediocre fajitas. I’ve settled on a 3.5 star rating on this place, but the reason I’m rounding down is because of the owner/manager. There’s a big difference with being friendly and being TOO friendly. He was too touchy-feely with the girls at our table and completely skeezed them out. It just made for an awkward situation. Given distance, price, and awkward factor, I can’t say that any of us will be back. Would have much rather spent $ 45 on four Chipotle burritos WITH guac. Damn, now that’d be glorious.

Mamasita’s hits the spot. Hearty portions and tasty entrees make this place worth the trek — it’s reasonably out of the way from everything — and the kind and attentive staff will ensure you enjoy your meal and their strong margaritas. My friend and I found this place here on Unilocal while looking for an affordable, mildly divey place to enjoy some Mexican after walking in Central Park. We’re simple gals. $ 15(each) bought us huge margaritas, the frozen variety of which come in about a million flavors. Our entrees were served with heaping piles of rice and beans — a requirement for us — and we devoured our simple but zesty enchiladas. We were served a complimentary dessert and the manager stopped by to make sure we’d enjoyed our meal and asked how we’d heard of his place. He gave us business cards takeout menus to use for delivery service there and at their sister restaurant nearby. Good to know of these options and it was nice to see him so personally invested in his customers and business! Overall, no major cons to report. Very satisfied and exactly what we’d been looking for!

I was out with some friends in midtown looking for some grub and noticed a spot on Unilocal!I had bookmarked previously but hadn’t paid much attention to. Mexican is my favorite food, so when I re-discovered the bookmark, I was surprised I hadn’t yet checked this place out – especially because it had so many high marks from Unilocalers! At any rate, our decision was soon made, so we walked the long block over to 10th Ave. to check out Mamasita. At first, we were going to leave because it seemed noisy inside when we peaked in the door. Plus, the interior was kind of plain looking, so we were like, «this certainly can’t be right right restaurant – the place with all the 5 stars we just read about on Unilocal!» So, we waffled for a bit but eventually decided that, since we were already over on 10th, we’d just stick to our original plan. Well, I’m certainly glad we did because Mamasita is the real deal. I was blown away by how tasty the food was. I thought I knew about all of the good Mexican food in NYC, but I guess not! So, what did our group find so appetizing? Well, everything we ate – from the appetizers to the main courses to the dessert! For appetizers, we tried both the chips and salsa and nachos – both way above average. On the nachos, we ordered steak as our protein, which costs $ 7 to add. Yes, a pricey addition for sure, but the steak was tender, succulent, and spot on… so, I’m glad we spent extra for the steak. For my entrée, I got a combo platter with a cheese and a chili enchilada(plus rice and beans) and my friend James got a trio of seafood enchiladas. All of these were super tasty, and I would definitely order either dish again! Finally, for dessert we had the tres leches – again spot on! As for drinks, all of our group ordered margaritas – the BIG ones(you’ll know what I talk about when you see them). We all got different flavors(some frozen and some not), and they were all tasty and strong. So, if you’re hankering for some tasty south of the border food some time soon, you should definitely check this place out. This unassuming little place in Hells Kitchen definitely serves up some of the best Mexican food around!

We walked to Mamacita Bar & Grill due to high Unilocal reviews and they were on the money! This was some of the best, freshest Mexican food we’ve had in NYC, certainly in Hells Kitchen. A neighborhood you-know-what, so get on over there. Once we were seated, the manager/owner came over and basically became our friend. He is rightfully proud that everything is made from scratch, with no lard, animal fats or MSG. There’s a page specifically for Vegetarians too. Menu prices are a bit higher than a typical family style Mexican place, but the quality is worth the extra cost. The complimentary chips and spicy salsa were a good start. The nachos with guacamole was delicious. My Carne Asada en Salsa Ranchera came bright, colorful, fresh and tasty with grilled rib-eye, jalapeño, onions and vegetables. We all enjoyed our entrees. The owner gave us a complimentary dessert, delicious Tres Leches with real whipped cream. With a whole page of margarita specials to select from, both frozen and on-the-rocks, it takes awhile to read. The frozen drinks look like fantasy art pieces. My Gran Gold Margarita with Herradura and Grand Marnier on the rocks was awesome and strong! Choose the 16 oz goblets… so much better than that Dallas joint. Kudos to bartender Anthony! We ended up wired, hugged the manager, thanked the friendly service staff and stumbled out into the night. A great jump on the weekend.

My new favorite happy hour spot! Came here on a Thursday after strolling around 10th ave, saw the sign for happy hour specials and that was all the convincing I needed. I thought this place was going to be a typical Mexican bar/restaurant but I was wrong. The drink options are endless, very creative(gummy bears in margaritas, the Carribbean Margarita with Champagne being one of the liquors etc), and VERYSTRONG. For $ 11, you can get a 16 oz drink, it looks all pretty and fancy but in reality it gets you halfway through(My friend and I learned the hard way). But thats what happy hour is all about. Props to the bartender for being heavy handed with the liquor – she was the real MVP! I will be back for sure
