MAC Cosmetics Counter

Stay away from Mac makeup in soho!!! Worse experience ever!!! They don’t know how to do makeup. Worse part I was told by the male that works there he has 11 years of experience. Horrible!!! A waste of $ 100 dollars!!!

DON’T DO IT! DON’T WASTE YOUR $ !
It took THREE different people to get my make up done when all I asked for was a natural look.
*First guy started me, than bailed 5 minutes later because he said he couldn’t do what I wanted (after starting me) and handed me off to someone else who was apparently doing me the biggest favor in the world.
*Second lady got hand cramps 20 minutes in and disappeared, she just left me there sitting. This was after she made me remove all my make up to start over again.
*Third lady just kept applying primer like I was a piece of cake (when I hardly even need it). She too was making it like I was not a paying customer.
I went this past Sunday for a 4pm appointment, walked out at 5:30pm. The two ladies who «finished» my make up did not even apologize or crack a smile. Worst MAC ever. I’ve been to many and I will NOT be going back. MAC should not be having amateurs who happens to suck working at such a popular location. I didn’t even get offered an apology or discount.

Every single time I’ve gone to this MAC counter I have had nothing but a good experience. Today a really nice man helped me, I wish I could have gotten his name so that I could tell the manager how nice he was. He was short with dark hair and blue eyes, if that helps at all. Other times I have been there the staff have been helpful. I usually try to go to this Mac counter because the people who work here are so nice.

Will Never Go Back, and In fact thinking about going to a new brand of makeup.
Everytime I go in to the Mac Counter at bloomingdales, I leave pretty angry. All the associates are plain out rude and ignore you. Yesterday however was the last straw… I went to the Mac Counter to get some new makeup for NYE eve. I was patiently waiting at the desk. while two male associates sat around plain out ignoring me… knowing I was right there and not even an acknowledgement. I continued to wait until they LOOKED up. Another customer comes in. boom they go right to her. UM HELLO. how blatantly rude can you be??? I’m done with MAC. in fact Mac corporate should really look at this location and give them a big training course on customer service. I’ve been loyal to MAC makeup now for awhile. spending an arm and a leg on their makeup.

I am a makeup junkie, and any makeup junkie worth her shit has a soft spot for MAC — my personal love affair with MAC began with Spice and has continued for more years than I care to admit.
While I have always loved the products, actually going to a MAC store/​counter is enough to give the most confidant person a complex. You may go in to buy Rebel but you may leave without it due to standing around for 15 minutes without anyone to help you, no matter how many times you furtively swipe the tester across your hand in hopes someone will notice. You may watch all 12 associates help everyone else besides you, like you’re invisible. The sales associate might sigh as she disinfects the tester for you to try on, or act like there are millions of other things more interesting than helping you find that blush that doesn’t make you look like a weird porcelain doll. When you are trying to buy stuff you certainly do not want to feel like a nuisance or a bother, but if you want your Russian Red you suck it up and deal with it.
That is, unless you go to the MAC counter at Bloomingdale’s and have the good fortune to encounter Six.
Here are the top 5 things that make Six amazing:
1. He knows his products like the back of his tattooed hands. If you need a nude lip something for work he knows the one that makes you look alive instead of like a zombie. Finding foundation for your skin type and shade is a snap for him, and he’ll try out as many as necessary to find the right match that works
2. He has all the right skills to help you achieve the look you want and never make you wear something you are uncomfortable with. If you want a 3 minute routine that makes you look natural, that’s what you will get. If you want to look sexy and alluring he can do that too, without making you look like a hooker. It’s a fine line to cross but he does it with aplomb. If you ARE comfortable looking like a hooker and you want to achieve that look he can figure that out too.
3. He will never treat you like a sales goal. I am sure he has one but if you try 10 shadows and don’t like any of them he won’t try and force you to buy one. If you try out a whole face full of products and buy one eyeliner he will just be happy that he found an eyeliner you like and not force you to buy the mascara or the eyeshadow that looks just like the one you have at home.
4. The level of customer service he gives is exceptional– not just for a MAC counter, but in general. He always makes sure that everyone’s needs are addressed. You could be homeless and looking for mascara and he would make sure you were helped in a timely fashion and with the same amount of respect as the rich tourist. And he helps everyone with genuine warmth –you always feel taken care of and like a valid human being, unlike some of the sales associates at other MAC counters.
5. His patience and attention is unwavering. You could ask him 10 times to show you again where all of the eyeshadows go on your eyelid and he would show you all 10 times with no frustration or attitude whatsoever. You could debate the merits of buying 1 product with him and he will continue to listen and offer you his honest advice without trying to rush your decision. You always have his full attention, even if he has to take a break for a second because none of the other sales associates is helping out all the other people milling about (and there are ALWAYS people looking for help here). He always comes back.
I pass by a different MAC counter EVERY DAY on my way home but if I need something now I always go out of my way to see Six because i know I’ll have a great experience. The rest of the staff at this counter seems ok, but my 5 stars are specifically for him.

The worst. Associates don’t pay attention to you. I have been to this MAC counter multiple times. I don’t take pleasure in being ignored but it’s the most convenient location for me. I’ll run in just to replenish makeup I have run out of and every time, I am ignored. It’s too the point where I am I no longer using MAC products because I have never found anyone willing to help me. They don’t even deserve one star.

Normally, I have a horrible time at the MAC counter. They are usually a bunch of pretentious, bitchy people. But every once in awhile, you’ll meet a cool associate and it changes your whole experience. Wow, what a difference one nice person can make!
MAC has this great recycling offer since forever. If you bring in 6 empty plastic containers (ie lipstick, lip gloss, eye shadow), they will give you one FREE tube of lipstick. I know, I know. I am such a girl sometimes…
So, here’s the thing. Initially, the woman that was helping told me I couldn’t get a FREE tube of lipstick because one of the empty tubes I brought back was part of the charity VIVA GLAM collection and another empty tube was a limited edition. But despite this policy, she still gave me the FREE lipstick. Cool.
I wander around a bit, and try on some eyeliner and really like it. So, I go up to the counter to purchase it and the woman now tells me that actually all those tubes of lipstick were fine to bring in to recycle, it is just that I can’t get a FREE tube of charity VIVA GLAM lipstick. Now, that makes more sense. She even apologized profusely for given me false information and was very nice helping me with all the products.
This was a very good experience in a clusterfuck Bloomies on the UES. I’m not normally over here and you’ll never find me in a Bloomingdale’s but sometimes, you have to give into fashion and beauty. I am turning into a New Yorker!

I’m almost always usually helped by knowledgeable and enthusiastic associates when I come to this MAC counter. They don’t lie to me and always tell me what looks good on me and what I should pass on and while they do introduce new things to me that I didn’t come in for, I never feel pressured to buy anything. But I do appreciate them introducing me to new stuff because I do usually come back to buy the things they’ve recommended when I have the money for it. My favorite MAC counter in the city!

If I had the option to leave half of a star I would have. U would thing a store like bloomindales would have it all I am not sure if if was just the rude staff at the mac counter or the store. I don’t think it was the store just the very rude staff of mac. There where two of them just chatting away and paid no mind to me and then the one that I asked for help was none at all because every item I ask for he said they where out off. Now keep in mind ppl I was there at 10am when they opened the doors. Then I went ahead and asked for the next colour that I could have use and he said there is nothing that u could use. Just rude I say I will né er go there again for mac.

I’ve only been to this MAC counter once. It wasn’t so bad though. I was just pissed they ran out of a LE item. haha. But other than than, the chick was pretty laid-​back and cool. But then again, I had a really good day that day.

I walk into Bloomingdales and get stopped by a very eager, enthusiastic Christian Dior rep, who just so happens to be Asian so I trust her and swing by the counter. She pulls me aside and pressures me like crazy to get a makeover today because they are handing out «REALLY great gift bags for makeovers.» So I’m sold and I sit down.
The makeup people never can seem to do us Asian Americans right. So it wasn’t surprising to me at all when I came out looking really… weird. But I liked some of the products and bought 3 things, got the «really nice» gift which was a huge makeup bag. The Asian rep was so excited and gave me all these other samples too.
About 3 weeks later, I did a makeover at Prescriptives counter and I LOVED it. So I decided to return the Christian Dior stuff and ran into the same Asian rep. She was PISSED. Totally turned evil on me and glared at me when I said I didn’t like them as much as Prescriptives. She said nastily «you have to return the gift bag and samples.»
WHAT?!? Since when do they demand this? She was so nasty about it, like I wasn’t going to come back, that I returned in 30 minutes with the gift bag & samples. She took them all back and said «it’s for security purposes.»
HOW in the world is returning the gift back a security issue? She totally remembers me too! First of all, I simply just did not like the product. Clear & simple. I had the receipt and the items were hardly used. I did everything fair & square. But I felt like I was treated like a criminal! I left totally outraged. I also hate the fact that SHE was the one who kept pressuring me to get the gift bag and now she was demanding it back, as if I even knew that there was a gift bag in the first place! What an «indian giver»!
Maybe some places ask for the gift item and the samples back, but I think that is TACKY. I think it would be classy for them to give out samples and products so that customers feel pampered and curious about more products.
Now I know that I will never, ever shop at Christian Dior again because of their unclassy, totally greedy customer service. Their products weren’t even all that impressive!

WOW… I should have thought twice before going back here but I this day I was already in soho and thought… why not. Could it be as bad as before???/??YES!!!
I walked in and headed directly toward thier new «Hello-​Kitty» line. I browsed a bit… of course no one came up to me or asked me if I need anything. It wasnt until I found something and actually HAD to ask for help, that someone finally acknowledged my presence. And when I asked for a certain lipstick or what ever it was… the girl said to me…” We are sold of that color…, now excuse me I was helping someone else”…WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWO!!! REally? Can this really be happening in this store? Its so bad for Mac!!! IT Makes me really not like shopping at their counter.

Them: Omigod! Omigod! Becky! Omigod!!! Like, OMIGOD!
Me: Excuse me, please? I just need some moisturizer.
Them: Omigod!!!
Seriously. It’s impossible to get service at this location because the makeup artists are too busy gossiping and omigodding with each other. It’s almost embarassing that they think it’s ok.
