I have been going here for a few years and this place is really nothing special. They seem to just sell food really. There is a dismal selection of toys and treats. They are often out of the type of food I give my dog (Wellness in the green bag). I really only go here because it’s the closest walk and thus I save myself having to walk too far with a heavy dog food bag. The staff isn’t really helpful. They are reasonably friendly though. It really seems they are just getting by on the location and the management doesn’t really care about the quality of the store. There’s nothing wrong with the products if you need food etc, but there are many other better stores.

A nice neighborhood pet shop to stock up on dog food, cat litter, etc. It’s expensive, but not more so than others in midtown. You definitely pay a bit for convenience.
The staff are quite friendly and, like most pet shops in NYC, is dog friendly. Many of the local dogs in the area kind of pull their owners into this little shop, where they know there is a cool bowl of water and a treat waiting for them. It’s almost a bit of a joke with those of us who have pets and are in the area.
If there’s a down side it’s that it’s small and their stocking can be spotty.

This is an OK place — I feel trapped because it is the closest pet store to me, so I end up going there despite knowing I’m being ripped off. My dog food here is $ 32, while at Petco it’s only $ 23! Even with the $ 2.25 for the bus fare back uptown with the food, it’s completely worth it. Now, I just need to be less lazy…

The worst manager in this store-​mean and cheating on prices:
A week ago I paid $ 1.90/can for dog food in the same store but located on 2nd Avenue and 45th street
Today I went to this location on 1st Avenue and 50th and she charged me for the same product $ 3.54/can.
When I told her, and she even called the other store that still have the $ 1.90 price, she was mean and refused to sdell it.
BE AWARE: Rip off is what she does, and extremely mean attitude.

I can find my cat’s wet food here cheaper then it is at the place I go to in Queens. The girl that works the register is very pleasant and we always make small talk.

Super over this location — they are ALWAYS out of the food I feed my cat (Evo 95% chicken) and the prices are more than their location on 2nd between 57th/​58th.
Example:
13 oz cans Evo 95% chicken: +$ 0.20
13 oz cans Evo 95% duck: +$.30
6.6 lb bag Evo dry chicken/​turkey: +$ 1
I don’t get it.
I’ll walk the extra 7 blocks for better selection and slightly cheaper prices.

Small store, but they are very helpful and extremely friendly. Free delivery is AWESOME. I’ve shopped there several times, and they never disappoint.

I will never use this store again– they do not stand behind their word or their products. I bought a dog toy and asked about it’s durability. I was told it would last a good amount of time. Now having had dogs for some time I know nothing is indestructible, however I would expect a product to last more than the 5 minutes this one did. I tried to return the product only to be told tough luck not our problem. With an attitude from the store manager like this buyer beware!
