If you are a tourist or New Yorker, you have to get this once in your life. The cookies could be price lower but the flavors are all there.
The cookies are palm size. I tried the double chocolate chip, the chocolate walnut, and the peanut butter chip. The best so far is the chocolate walnut, the only reason is the texture and that the double chocolate chip is too rich.
People here don’t lie, there is a line no matter what time and what day. Took me 15 minutes to get my cookies. The service is fast, it’s the people who are ordering who was slow.
$ 4 and no tax.

My wife turned me onto Levain when we first started dating. Where else can you get amazing tasting 2lbs cookies? Heck lifting them to your mouth will burn he calories that you will be ingesting. Well maybe about 5 calories. But a family of four can share one cookie.
We used to go every Saturday morning for the butter and jam baguettes. The only negative about Levain is that the word is out and now there are a line most weekends.
Now we only go for special occasions.
10lbs of cookies make the perfect housewarming gift when friends have you over for dinner.

This bakery has been on our list for a long time due to its popularity and legend of the giant cookies. The must have item for us was oatmeal raisin cookie, though it was easily as big as a scone (there actually is an oatmeal raisin scone too.) We came on a Saturday and waited about twenty minutes to get our order in.
The size of the cookie is no joke, definitely not for one person. We had the oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip walnut cookies. Both were warm and amazingly soft. The smell was intoxicating and presentation was mouth watering. The taste was disappointing, unfortunately, compared to the whole experience. The chocolate chip cookie was just too sweet. The oatmeal raisin was tasty but required several tries to finish.
Overall, we were happy we got to experience the sights and smells of Levain, but the tastes probably won’t bring us back.

Got here on Sunday early evening around 5:30 pm and there was a long line. The line went pretty fast, like 15 – 20 min for 25 about people.
I had a chocolate chip walnut cookie and a dark chocolate peanut butter cookie. Loved them! They are truly good, crispy outside but gooey inside. You can tell right away they put real stuffs in the cookies. But be aware that these goodies are fattening and greasy.
Well, while I love their cookies, I still think $ 4 each is a little pricy. No matter how good they are, cookies are cookies. For this, I may not go back since I’m not a big fan of cookies, either.

These are some of the BEST cookies you will ever have.
I’ve had them before, usually for special occasions, but had never been to the actual bakery myself. When I saw the location was nearby via the Unilocal app, I grabbed my boyfriend and insisted on visiting prior to stopping for dinner.
It was a Sunday night at 6pm, and there was a line. A long line. In fact, we waited on line for 27 minutes just to get cookies. I know that sounds crazy, but that’s really how good they are!
Heads up, each cookie is $ 4, so they aren’t cheap. But they’re definitely worth it. All you need is one or two since they’re large and you can easily share one cookie with another person.

How I learned about Levain:
Friend: Go to Levain and try a cookie. They’re really good!
Me: Okay I’ll try it.
… later
Me: It was really good, but it was huge. After I finished one, it kind of made me sleepy.
Friend: You ate an entire one? They’re too big for one person!

When I gifted Levain cookies:
Me: I brought some cookies.
CL: Thanks, from where?
Me: From Levain.
CL: *Opens box* … They’re huge, are you sure they’re cookies?
Okay I guess you know by now it’s a pretty big cookie.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t be interested in buying a cookie from a bakery. Especially not a $ 4 cookie. You can find cookies anywhere. I’m more into pastries.
But these suckers are about 2 – 3 times the size of a regular cookie.
& then I tried one… okay I’m sold. I want more.
& no, one cookie is not too big for one person! not to me, at least.
4 cookie options:
Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip Walnut
Taste: Sweet of course, but after munching through it, it was also very hearty.
Texture: Crunchy on the outside, still soft and gooey inside. Since it’s so thick, it probably prevents the cookie from being baked all the way through.
Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip:
It satisfied my sweet tooth senses in so many ways. The interior still had melted chocolate chips, even after I broke the cookie in half on a cold, cold day.
Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip:
Just as good as dark choc choc chip, but with peanut butter chips instead. I love the savory flavor of peanut butter in sweets.
Oatmeal Raisin:
still rich & delicious, but not my favorite, as I am not a big oatmeal raisin fan.
I haven’t tried the choc chip walnut, because I don’t really like walnuts.
Banana Chocolate Chip Bread is good, but noticeably underwhelming compared to the cookies.
Yes there is a line. It gets pretty cramped trying to order, pay, retrieve your delicious cookies, and squeeze your way back up the stairs, and out of the bakery.
Just go on a day when you have some time and calories to spare. After you get through waiting, you deserve more than one cookie, right?

Guys, the hype is real and I can’t believe it.
I’m never on the UWS so when I was yesterday, I wasn’t leaving without having Beard Papas cream puffs AND a cookie from Levain. Even if I was full beyond belief… so I did. I’ve been meaning to try this cookie for over two years, so you can imagine the hype it’d built up in my head. But guys… THE HYPE IS REAL.
I’m not one to spend $ 4 on a cookie and be okay with it, but by the time I was halfway through the cookie, I wasn’t mad about it anymore.
My peanut butter loving friend got a chocolate peanut butter cookie, which was basically a rich brownie and not really a cookie. I got the chocolate chip walnut, wondering why they didn’t just have a regular chocolate chip cookie.
A pretty thick, heavy cookie, I bit into it and (embarrassingly) I kind of squealed at the sight of all the oozing, melting chocolate. Literally, I did. People looked at me. I was amazed. As I kept eating the semi-​raw, melt-​in-​your-​mouth cookie, I understood why they don’t have plain chocolate chip cookies: the walnuts really just make it next level. I couldn’t walk while eating this cookie — I had to sit. This cookie is so rich and so amazing. I told my friend that night that «I had a religious experience when I ate that cookie.» Yeah… I wouldn’t say that lightly. It’s that freaking good. Best cookie I’ve had in my life.

Ah yes, the famed Levain Bakery and its cookies. There really ain’t anything quite like it. And yes, I’m aware that Levain has almost 4000 reviews at this point, so I’ll be brief as can be.
For the longest time, I had only tried what people had brought to me from their own trips, but this time, I was more or less determined to try and go for a few cookies myself. After waiting in a brief line, we were able to get some freshly made chocolate chip walnut cookies right away, as well as some dark chocolate peanut butter chip. Since it isn’t a very big place, it’s a curiosity how they’re able to crank out so many cookies to so many people in so little space. Anyways, we were tempted to eat them as we came out, but we managed to resist until we got home. Even after the 20 or so minutes after getting back, the cookies were still warm and gooey, and even a few days later, popping them in the microwave for 20 seconds is a good way to warm ‘em up quickly.
Sure, you might think that the price of $ 4 for a cookie is a bit much, but these are nearly full-​on meals upon themselves, if it were actually socially acceptable to eat a hulking 6oz cookie as a meal. The package of 4 or 8 cookies is just a lot heavier than you’d expect, and it feels good knowing that you got a decent value out of it. You would think that cookies like these would be relatively easy to replicate, and you might be right, but to date, I’ve yet to find anyone who makes a cookie quite like this one.
Great place for those scone-​y, cake-​y, gooey cookies. After that, there are some other quality baked goods, like cakes, baguettes, and breads, but you can pretty much find the same stuff at other places if you don’t happen to live in UWS. If you have a huge sweet tooth and you like cookies (who doesn’t?), definitely worth a visit if you’re in Manhattan.

Levain Bakery has the Best Ooey Gooey Scrumptious Cookies EVER!!!
So it’s a small bakery and there is always a long line, but when I went, the line was about 10 minutes. The wait was so worth ever minutes. Once you step into those doors, you can smell the freshly baked cookies. The staff works fast and efficiently to get everyone’s order and wrap those mouthwatering cookies in boxes/​bags for you. I brought almost a dozen of those cookies and they were heavy! Each cookie weighed like one pound. $ 4 a cookie does sound pricey but its worth the price because each cookie is jam– packed with deliciousness.

SERIOUSLY THIS PLACE IS WORTH THE HYPE. Must stop in NYC and most amazing cookie I’ve ever had! I don’t even like walnuts and the chocolate chip walnut cookie blew me away and warmed my heart and soul. These cookies are a perfect mix of crunchy on the outside but so deliciously chewy and gooey on the inside. They are given to you warm with that «fresh out of the oven» feel. I heard some locals telling people that the cookies were «just ok», DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM unless you don’t want to have the best cookie of your life.
The line was down the street when we went, but don’t let it scare you. They are super efficient and fast and the store is small so you are basically there when you hit the door. I can’t wait to go back!

Small cookies are for wusses. I, on the other hand, am a hero when it comes to these babies. Why? Well, these cookies are gigantic! However, don’t get it twisted. These are much hyped because of their flavor and not the sheer size.
When I first laid eyes on these cookies, they looked just like British scones, which I typically find dry and un-​exciting without a fair dose of clotted cream. What’s the hype all about?! Upon my first bite, I knew I had judged them wrong. The exterior is crisp and crunchy while the interior offers the most lovely soft, yet chewy bite that you can imagine. The chocolate/​peanut butter chips are rich and just slightly gooey. The craggy appearance makes the interior seem like such a pleasant surprise. This pricey «little» cookie could easily be enough for 2 people to satisfy their sweet tooth with. But like the aforementioned hero comment, I ate the whole damn thing by myself.
Since then, I’ve tried each of their 4 flavors over and over again — chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal raisin cookie, dark chocolate chip cookie, and the dark chocolate peanut butter chip. For a hot second, I was so obsessed that I tried to duplicate some of the magic in my own kitchen. I was almost driven mad. (Bread flour instead of AP flour? Freeze the dough before baking? Add a dish of water in the oven while it bakes so it steams? Weigh each portion of dough so it’s large enough, but not too large?)
Ultimately, I’ve decided to let them be the magicians, while I remain part of the audience. After all, the hero doesn’t always have to be the star.

The BEST COOKIES that have ever existed on planet earth. Oh my goodness… I came here as a recommendation from a friend who said that its a «must» that I come here and get these cookies when visiting New York. There will always be a line, but it moves relatively fast and while waiting I kept telling myself «this better be worth it» and yes, it worth every minute standing in the freezing cold (I would probably even wait longer). These cookies are like crack, they are perfect in every way: chewy, crispy, gooey (because they’re fresh), thick, and big). They are a little pricey, but you TOTALLY get what you paid for.
Highlights (its really hard to call them highlights because everything is just soo good, but these are what I ordered):
— Banana Bread with Chocolate
— Dark Chocolate Peanut butter Cookies
— Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie
*My only regret… is not ordering everything.

Came here on a rainy night and it had only a couple people. No line. I was disappointed that the store was so small and they had a few selection of items. Taste wise, it was good. I really enjoyed the chocolate chip walnut cookie. It was soft and almost tasted like cookie dough in the center. I would definitely go back.

This is the crack cocaine of cookies. Yes I said crack cocaine. You can try to have just one but you will fail. And why would you? This is freaking delicious. My favorite is the Chocolate Chocolate Chip with Peanut Butter Chips. Oh My Gee — it’s amazingly. Try to ask for one fresh out the oven and devour that bad boy with every intent and purpose to LIVE.
The brioche is pretty good too but who comes out to this for brioche?

Tried 3 of their 4 cookies (Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Oatmeal Raisin). All 3 were amazing and everyone should try them at one point in their life. My favorite was the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, drooling just thinking about it. Keep in mind, they are incredibly rich, so if you’re not used to a ton of sugar, stick to 1 cookie. I went around 1:30 and the line was only about 8 people. While there are pictures of long lines, it moves quickly and the line only exists because 6 people tops can fit into the store at any given time.
What are you waiting for? Go get some of these cookies.

I mean, how can I not give this place 5 stars? ½ pound cookies which are incredibly rich with simple, on point flavors — what more could you want? I had this place on my list for a while so was excited to finally try it. I got the chocolate chip walnut and chocolate peanut butter cookies. They serve them to you warm but I was saving them for the next day so they got a little misshapen in that time but still tasted amazing. The place is small so it can get crowded easily but it’s a cookie so obviously you can take it to go. Staff is friendly and helpful and these are absolutely worth the $ 4 price tag. I will most definitely be back here!

The chocolate chip walnut cookie is my favorite cookie in the whole wide world. :D It’s good when you take it to go, but even better when you eat it straight out of the oven at the shop, when it’s still warm with the chocolate chips oozing and the center dough soft and gooey. The cookies are huge and worth every single bite. I haven’t had to wait on line when I go during the week, but I’ve seen lines go down the block on the weekends!

So we tried the chocolate chip (with walnuts), dark chocolate chocolate chip and dark chocolate with peanut butter. We also bought some ciabatta bread.
We waited in line for 30 minutes, it moved a lot faster than we thought so don’t let the line deter you.
What to get:
— the maple chocolate chip: the walnut provides a great crunch
— dark chocolate (with chocolate chip): the chocolate flavor is exactly where it should be
What to skip:
— the ciabatta bread: it wasn’t as fresh as we were expecting it to be. The exterior was a little to hard which made it difficult to eat.

So so worth the wait! I’ve been here two other times. The first time there was miraculously no line and I was inside immediately. I can’t remember the time of day or which day, otherwise I would share the tip. Ordered one chocolate chip walnut cookie and a coffee. The cookies are batched so that they’re basically a ball baked to perfection and served warm.
The second time the line was too long so I left. The third time, yesterday, the line was even longer but the cookies are so good that I stood in line in the cold for an hour. Of course, after a wait like that, I ended up getting three cookies and a slice of banana chocolate chip cake. Ok the cookies get all the attention but the loaf cake was amazing as well and they cut it as you order into very generous slices. Got coffee this time as well which was tasty but also served to warm up my frozen hands. (Fyi, I did not eat all of that in one sitting and everything carried over well the next day after being placed in an air tight container.)
I’m a local and was in line with a bunch of tourists but I could identify a fair enough share of other loner NYC residents to validate my decision to be a cookie groupie. Maybe come here on a weekday afternoon to avoid a super big crowd but absolutely a must try.

I’ve had every cookie here. I couldn’t decide and had to try them all. They are all good and held well for take out but I did not ever see an ooey, raw center pictured in every shot of the chocolate walnut cookie. I even microwaved them! I did everything in the book to get that ooey center. I’ve gotten the chocolate walnut three times now and I’m still waiting sadly. I’m guessing some batches are cooked more than others, and I’m simply unlucky.
In the end I found that the dark chocolate with peanut butter was the most raw, so naturally I enjoyed that one the most.
One note is that the oatmeal raisin has a TON of raisins. Tons people. Be aware. Be prepared.

Best cookies in New York.
Walked from Central Park South all the way to Harlem to try them. Crunchy outside with a warm buttery center, high quality chocolate chips, and salty walnuts. I have tried all the major players in the city. Save yourself some travel time and just come here.

As I was scrolling through Facebook this morning, I came across a post/​video about these must have, long-​line wait cookies from Levain Bakery. They had me at long line wait (what can I say, I’m a sucker for getting the impossible). I decided to take my chance especially since my boss was out of the office. Three subway stops later, I find myself in front of the tiny bakery and to my surprise, no lines! It was 11:30am on a Thursday so maybe the rush comes later? Either way, I walk inside and asked for one of each of the four cookies (oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip walnut, dark chocolate chocolate chip and dark chocolate peanut butter) and a slice of the banana bread. I had piece of the banana bread (it was a huge slice) and unfortunately it was dry and not that impressive. Highly disappointed but I figured they are known for the cookies and maybe not anything else they sell.
I decided to wait to have the cookies at home later that night. I popped them in the microwave for 30 seconds and sat down with the b/​f and a glass of milk. In my opinion, not worth the hype. The chocolate was way too rich and the cookie too big and too thick. Even though we only took ¼ bite from each cookie, we were so full.
B/​F thought the oatmeal raisin was the best. But everytime I took a bite out of it I only tasted raisins and no oatmeal. The chocolate chip walnut stood out to me but again just too big of a cookie. And that’s a lot for me to say. I have a pretty big appetite and love sweets but these were just too much for me.

I purchased the chocolate chip walnut cookie after seeing the rave reviews online. It was a good, hearty size, had the right amount of chocolate & walnuts, and was warm (even a little doughy on the inside, but I don’t believe undercooked)! Overall, the consistency was superb. The flavor, on the other hand, was lacking… It was a nice cookie but it didn’t have that wow-​factor I was expecting. I was tempted to dust a little salt on it to enhance its flavor a bit; it really did need something extra. I’ve definitely had better tasting cookies in my lifetime.
Would I go back? Sure, but I won’t go out of my way for it.

This better be good.
I had a chocolate chip walnut cookie, and it came served warm (nice touch!). It’s crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside; it’s pretty dense and thick too. It’s a good portion, not a massive size, but quality ingredients for sure. The location itself — the bakery is very small and there is a small metal counter seating area where I ate my cookie, since there weren’t too many people around when I went. Great customer service, very nice people there who were willing to help me decide on a cookie.
So all that being said, I had a good cookie here — but not an outstanding one. It was tasty but it didn’t blow me away. Well, I should say, I never met a cookie I didn’t like. But go try Levain for a delicious cookie next time you’re around!

If you are looking for the best chocolate chip cookie in the city– Levain Bakery is the place to go. Never in my entire life have I tasted cookies as good as Levain’s. Words simply cannot describe these cookies.
You can smell the butter when you walk in in the bakery. The cookies come out warm and fresh –perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. What more can you ask for? The cookies are big and good enough to share (that is. if you even want to). Due to my overwhelming sweet tooth, I usually don’t share and eat a whole cookie by myself.
Selection is limited to 4 cookies– Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Chip, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter. The cookies are $ 4 each and worth every penny. They are huge, gooey, and delicious. The chocolate melts in your mouth and they are just a taste of heaven!
The storefront is small, but simple and fast. There is usually a wait but the line moves quickly and it’s worth it. I would recommend this place to everyone. You will not be disappointed.

Second attempt coming here after the first time I came there was a super long line. We came on a Saturday morning before lunch time. Of course there was a bit of a line, but ended up waiting about 30 minutes.
The inside is super small. The cookies are amazing. Also the cookies are huge! Only got to finish 1 of 3 cookies that were purchased. Ended up eating the cookies later on the day and they were still delicious! Also purchased a hot chocolate which was good, but ended up being very sweet after awhile. Ended up being in chocolate overload after finishing the cookies and hot chocolate. Don’t care because it was worth it! Wished this place was bigger!

I feel so fortunate to work just a few blocks away from levain. You can smell the freshly baked cookies down the block! I regularly pass by on my lunch break and if the line is small I make sure to get a cookie. The best one is hands down the chocolate chip walnut cookie. It is the most perfect cookie ever and definitely a must try! If you’ve never had a cookie from levain make sure to go and try it. And don’t even question yourself if the line is worth it or not. It is.

In 40 degrees pouring rain, New Yorkers and out of towners are standing outside for these cookies… I was one of them… Worth it? I’m not sure…
I somehow picked one of the worst days to stand in line and get some for my friend. Waited about 20 mins, not terribly bad. The shop is TINY inside with 4 bar stools so I definitely don’t recommend you staying to eat.
4 famous cookies — more scones than anything TBH.
I got 2 chocolate chip walnut, 1 double chocolate peanut butter, and 1 oatmeal and raisin. Only didn’t order the fourth (double chocolate) because the service girl said that it would be squished in the box (that fits four) and would be packaged separately. I didn’t want to bother with a second package so I just skipped that.
OVERWHELMED BY CHOCOLATE. Holy crap, are these scones (cookies) chocolate-​y. Not necessarily sweet, but just very very chocolate-​y. The oatmeal and raisin one was very good! Almost gooey in the middle and very very fresh out of the oven.
Relatively expensive at $ 4.00/cookie but these aren’t cookies. These are freaking massive scones. Worth it! (Only on a good day though. But then again, if you can bear the weather, lines are shorter on a terrible day!)

Heavenly chocolate chip walnut cookies!!! The best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten, hands down. Eat them warm! I still dream about those cookies. I’ve decided that Levain Bakery is a must stop for me anytime I’m in NYC.
The line may be long but trust me, it’s worth it once you get your hands on one of their warm, fresh cookies. Friendly customer service and the line seemed to move pretty quick.

Line was out the door and past the window, but it went by really quickly. There are limited stool seating inside… I would recommend to walk two blocks and enjoy your cookies in Central Park.
I tried three of their four flavors and this is in the order of my liking:
1.) Chocolate chip walnut
1.) Oatmeal raisin
3.) Dark chocolate peanut butter chip
Yep, chocolate chip walnut and oatmeal raisin tie for first place. The cookies are humongous and very heavy. Surprisingly, the center is more cake-​like. Of course the cookies are best eaten immediately when they are still warm, but they also last well for a few days! The price is a bit much ($ 4), but when I saw the size of the thing, I figured it wasn’t too outrageous.
I don’t know if these are THE BEST cookies I’ve ever had, but they are definitely different… and to be quite honest, I can’t name a better cookie place though.

I’m writing this review in between bites of one of the best cookies I’ve ever tasted. Came here on a Saturday afternoon at my cousin’s recommendation. We spotted the longggggg line and were almost discouraged. We’re glad we decided to wait because the line went very fast.
It’s a small shop with nowhere to sit inside and a small bench outside. They discourage you from loitering around the outside of the shop and instead encourage you to go to Central Park which is 2 blocks east or Riverside which is 3 blocks west (I may have mixed that up. I’m horrible with direction lol)
There were 4 types of cookies (chocolate chip walnut, dark chocolate chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter and oatmeal raisin), scones, savory flat breads, coffee and hot chocolate to choose from. We ordered each type of cookie and I ordered a hot chocolate. The cookies aren’t perfectly shaped or sized which gives them that home made charm. I can’t say which was the best because they were all GREAT so I’d say it depends on what you’re in the mood for. They’re quite large and have yummy oowy gooey centers.
At $ 4 a cookie I’d say it’s best to go with a group so you can share and taste all the flavors. The hot chocolate was just ok but the delicious cookies make up for that 100%

OMGGG! Best cookies I’ve ever had in my life!!! Worth the trip from a long day of sightseeing! Quite expensive for the three cookies, but totally worth it! They are large enough, I snacked on them for two days.

Ma préférence va à celui aux pépites de chocolat et noix mais celui au beurre de cacahuète est exquis, peut-​être tout autant mais comme je l’ai mangé le lendemain pour le petit-​déjeuner il n’était pas aussi fondant, ça doit venir de ça. Mais plusieurs jours plus tard j’en ai repris: noix pépites de chocolat et celui tout chocolat qui était très bon aussi.
Les cookies coûtent 4 $ pièce, ça peut paraître cher mais ils sont énormes et surtout ils sont orgasmiques !

Nao sou muito fã de cookies e afins mas esse cookie é sensacional. Ele é denso e com muito chocolate.
Confesso que esperava encontrar uma padaria super chique e tal mas o local é pequeno e simples.

Les meilleurs cookies que j ai jamais mangé! Quand on les achète ils sont encore chauds,!! On a goûté le dark chocolate et le chocolate chip walnut: les 2 sont divins!!! Chaque cookie mesure environ 3 cm de hauteur: incroyable!!!
Même 4 $ le cookie, il faut absolument y aller!!!

OMG!!! Un des meilleurs cookies que j’ai goûté!
Lorsqu’on arrive devant la devanture, minuscule, la queue traversant tout le trottoir nous annonce déjà la réputation du lieu. Puis il faut se frayer un chemin et on descend un petit escalier très étroit pour rentrer dans la boutique, là une odeur de pâte chaude, de chocolat, de raisins, de sucre, nous enivre. Je les aperçois ces cookies, pas si dodus que ça à première vue. Commande rapide, sourire amicale, et on repart avec sa pochette en kraft garnie des cookies soigneusement emballés. Surprise, le sac est super lourd!
J’ouvre pour la dégustation, humm toujours cette bonne odeur qui me titille les papilles, puis je «déchire» en deux le cookie (j’ai pris le nature aux pépites de chocolat et noix), là c’est un océan de chocolat, ça dégouline, ça brille, je mords. Whaaaaouw! C’est humide, fondant, la pâte est à peine cuite, chewy, et le chocolat est de bonne facture, pas trop sucré mais un vrai bon chocolat noir! Les bords sont croustillants comme j’aime, le cookie est tout chaud, il est aussi ultra copieux n’oublions pas de le mentionner ^^ Je suis conquise!
Comme quoi de petites adresses cachent parfois des merveilles! :)

3 étoiles car je né suis pas fan des cookies. Mais après y avoir emmener ma troupe ils ont tous craquer… Quand à moi je pensais retrouver mon rolls acheter un dimanche matin de l’année 2012 et là déception c’est que le week end !!! Alors 3 étoiles lool…

Ceci est un message d’alerte (vous n’aviez pas deviné ?). Il est rare qu’un lieu ayant pour unique objet la bouffe né vaille un détour exprès, mais là… Ce sont les meilleurs cookies de ma vie que j’y ai goûté.
Les prix, à hauteur du goût, né sont pas pour autant décourageants. 4 dollars à 6 dollars maxi pour l’équivalent d’un repas entier. Soit un cookie, quoi.

4 $ un cookie: mais un sacré cookie !
Cuit à la perfection: à peine à l’intérieur et parfait à l’extérieur, le chocolat noix est top, toujours un peu d’attente, mais rien d’inhumain et surtout central park a proximité pour aller profiter de son cookie dans le coin dédié à John Lennon :)

Oh. Mon. Dieu. J’avais lu un article il y a quelques temps, dans lequel l’auteure donnait la liste des 15 meilleurs «repas» qu’elle avait dégustés. Il y avait un peu de tout, et au milieu de cette liste éclectique, j’ai vu «best cookie I ever had in my whole life».
Ça né se prend pas à la légère. Surtout quand on est en train de flâner dans central park.
Il y avait la queue devant chez Levain, mais pas des touristes avec un guide à la main, venus ici sans réfléchir. Non, des locaux qui savent que s’il n’y a que 4 sortes de cookies différents, c’est parce que chez Levain, ils veulent que cela soit parfait.
Mission accomplie. 4 dollars le cookie ÉNORME, cuit juste comme il faut (c’est à dire pas trop), environ 3−4cm d’épaisseur…
Franchement, j’en ai goûté des cookies, aux États Unis, et ailleurs, mais je déclare officiellement que chez Levain, il y a les meilleurs cookies du MONDE!

3 mois à préparer notre voyage de 8 jours à New York … Autant vous dire que Levain Bakery est apparu plusieurs fois dans mes recherches, que ce soit dans les guides ou sur les blogs. Alors il était hors de question que je le loupe ! Même si ce n’était pas tout proche de là où on était, il fallait quand même qu’on y aille. Pour être honnête, si je n’avais pas entendu parler de cet endroit avant d’y aller, je né m’y serais sans doute jamais arrêtée en voyant la devanture. Très petit, en sous sol, et l’extérieur né paye pas de mine. 30 min de queue pour pouvoir y entrer, il fallait vraiment que ca en vaille la peine. Arrivés au comptoir pour faire notre choix on s’est dit qu’étant donné l’attente, on avait tout intérêt à prendre le plus de choses possible, à commencer par les célèbres cookies ! On a choisi les classiques, aux pépites de chocolat et noisettes. En plus des 2 cookies (on regrette de né pas en avoir pris plus … mais à 4 $ le cookie …), on a pris 2 demi-​baguettes avec du beurre et de la confiture, 1 part de cake banane/​chocolat et 2 pains aux raisons. Le tout pour 18 $. C’est sûr, ce n’est pas donné … Mais c’est tellement bon que le prix est justifié.
Tout était très bon, et le cookie … mon dieu le cookie … une véritable merveille ! Ca valait largement le coup d’attendre et je comprends le succès de cet établissement aussi petit soit-​il, ca né lui enlève en rien son excellence ! La cuisson du cookie est comme il faut, il est croquant autour et fondant à l’intérieur = LE cookie parfait !
Vraiment, si vous allez à New York, il faut absolument que vous fassiez un arrêt à cet endroit !

Fue la visita más deseada a una pastelería en New York, … levaba el sitio marcado en mis favoritos y sabía que al menos un día tenía que llegarme a comer una de sus «mega galletones».
Tres mil y pico reseñas, no barato, y casi cinco estrellas de media me hacían pensar que iban a ser espectaculares, y mira que si lo eran!
Una cola que te cagas en la calle, así que tuvimos tiempo de elegir que es lo que íbamos a pedir, aunque resultó fácil, tienen cuatro tipo de galletas diferentes, … de las cuatro (compramos una de cada) me quedo con la de raisins, y después la de chocolate con nueves, y con la última aunque también buena, la de dark chocolate a secas.
Directamente, son espectaculares y hay que probarlas!

Très bonne adresse pour tes pâtisseries homemade. Bien évidemment je recommande leur cookies qui on fait je pense leur succès … Très copieux un seul suffit largement. J’ai testé de fois leur brioche qui reste légère et très bonne.
Dommage qu’il n’y est pas plus de place pour s’installer et déguster leur pâtisserie …

Les meilleurs cookies de NY pour certains et pour les autres les meilleurs tout court.
Levain Bakery est une de ces adresses dont je né comprends pas l’engouement.
Les cookies sont bons (bien que trop sucré pour celui tout au chocolat) mais pas vraiment transcendants comme le suggère la plupart des avis et puis quelle est la recette originale des cookies? Car ceux-​là sont justes croustillants à l’extérieur et l’intérieur est tellement mou/​moelleux que ça se rapproche plus du brownie ou d’une pâte mal cuite. Du coup, difficile de comparer avec les autres cookies de NY mais mon amie m’assure que ceux de Magnolia sont meilleurs.
En lisant les commentaires je me suis dit «ohlala je vais devoir partager ça avec quelqu’un vu que la quantité est gargantuesque». Que nenni, j’ai pris 2 cookies (le tout chocolat est bon mais j’ai préféré celui aux flocons d’avoine) et je les ai fini sans problème pour le goûter.
La boutique est toute petite mais ça a son charme, les vendeurs sont adorables mais Levain Bakery né m’a pas tant marqué que ça.

Cookies time!
C’est une toute petite Bakery en entresol. Vous allez reconnaître à la queue devant. Probablement les meilleurs cookies de Manhattan une mention spéciale pour le dark chocolate. Située dans l’upper west side tout proche de strawberry fields ou du musée d’histoire naturelle enfin il n’y a que des bons prétextes pour y aller.

Il est énorme mais il est trop bon! Si vous allez à New York, juste foncez! J’avais pris celui au chocolat et au beurre de cacahuète et c’était juste… un délice

Mon dieu, mais ce sont de véritables chefs d’œuvres ces cookies !
D’abord j’ai commencé avec un Scone bien consistant, dont aucun morceaux né s’émiettent. Si mon estomac criait famine quelques instants avant de rentrer dans la boutique, j’ai compris à la moitié du cookie qu’il était plus que comblé et que j’étais à deux doigts d’avoir eu les yeux plus gros que le ventre.
Un peu récalcitrant sur la version «dark», j’ai préféré prendre celui au lait. Le biscuit fait le triple de la taille originel de ces congènères, la pâte est croquante et l’intérieur c’est le summum, le point d’orgue qui sublime le tout. Un chocolat fondant à faire succomber n’importe qui. J’en voulais un autre ensuite, je me suis fait violence pour résister et j’ai tenu. C’est uniquement parce que je sais que je n’aurais pas eu la place, que j’ai réussi à né pas céder à la tentation.
Cinq jours ont défilé depuis cette expérience dans la minuscule mais formidable Levain Bakery et je m’en suis toujours pas remis. Je pourrai pas d’ailleurs, c’est juste une expérience vraiment sensationnel.
Levain c’est la vie, Levain c’est divin !

Et je dis ça après avoir participé au club des Unilocaleur Testeurs consacré à la dégustation de différents cookies parisiens.
Ils sont à 4 $ le cookie mais ils sont délicieux, ça vaut donc grandement le prix, d’autant plus qu’ils sont assez gros.
Croustillant à l’extérieur, fondant à l’extérieur, cuits à point, un goût sensass, ils sont parfaits !
On peut en avoir des comme ça à Paris siouplé?

Il y a peu à redire de ces ENORMES cookies a part qu’ils sont a tomber par terre (et ça fait mal).
Cette minuscule boutique est aussi le laboratoire où ils sont produits.
Chocolat noir avec pépites, chocolat avec noix ou avec pépites de peanut butter le principe est toujours le même: un biscuit extra moelleux, mi-​cuit à cœur et des pépites fondantes un peu partout.
Le cookie aux raisin et avoine est plus proche d’une barre céréales croquante et fondante.
Le scone aux raisins aussi est incroyablement moelleux, moins sucré qu’un cookie.
Le muffin aux myrtilles au biscuit très savoureux rappelle les madeleines bretonnes au beurre.

Il s’agit des meilleurs cookies de NYC selon le New York Times et je confirme n’en avoir jamais mangés d’aussi bons!
Après les avoir découverts lors de mon précédent séjour à NYC, je né pouvais pas né pas y faire étape cette fois-​ci. Mais qu’elle né fut pas ma surprise d’y trouver une file d’attente de plusieurs mètres. Cette enseigne est donc victime de son succès! Les 10 minutes d’attente valaient largement le coup lorsque nous avons dégusté ce cookie aux pépites de chocolat, gargantuesque de part sa taille, croquant sur le dessus, au cœur coulant, dans un Central Park ensoleillé!

Pas besoin d’écrire des tartines, ce lieu fourni simplement le cookie de vos réves.
Enorme, croustillant dessus, fondant à l’intérieur!
Attention néanmoins, un cookie constitue un repas complet à lui tout seul ! (J’avais mangé un Bagel au Saumon quelques blocs plus haut, et la fin de mon cookie a eu un peu de mal à passer, heuresement, ma gourmandise est plus forte :))
J’ai gouté celui qui beurre de cacahouéte, c’est très bon choix si vous en appréciez les saveurs.
Parfait pour le gouter àprès un footing à Central Park :)

Je m’aperçois avec honte que j’ai quitté la ville sans laisser un avis (en français parce qu’en anglais, autant dire qu’avec leurs DEUX MILLE CINQUANTE ET UN avis, ils n’ont pas vraiment besoin de mon grain de sel).
Oyé oyé francophones à NY. C’est l’adresse de cookie la meilleure de la planète, que tous les cookies de paris rentrent chez eux sagement, leur maître trôné sur la 74ème rue à NY (non loin de Central Park à l’ouest, en dessous du musée d’histoire naturelle).
Ces cookies sont fabuleux, en témoignent les milliers (à proprement parler) d’avis sur Unilocal et la file impressionante le dimanche aprem. Ils sont bien épais, savoureux, tendres, et les parfums restent simples sans se perdre dans des fioritures: chocolat (pâte tout chocolat), pépite de chocolat, raisins et un autre dont j’ai oublié le parfum. Ambiance cookie moelleux, pâte fondante mi cuite.
Ils pèsent leur pesant de saveur: je repartais généralement avec une boîte de 8 cookies et le sac était lourd, vraiment lourd, comme une petite valise :).
Petit conseil: lorsque vous les mangez le lendemain, passez les un coup au micro onde, les pépites de chocolat seront légérement fondues, ça restaure parfaitement le goût initial.
C’est à se damner, à oublier tout ce qui vous entoure, à se fondre corps et âme avec son cookie. Traverser NY de Chinatown à ici n’était rien, je l’ai fait maintes fois et le referais volontiers, j’ai même envie de prendre l’avion en écrivant ces lignes.
