ok, so since NY Mag rated the frozen yogurt at Lord and Taylor as #1 Fro-Yo for 2008, I decided to venture a few blocks down and try it out. See what all the fuss is all about in NY Mag world about this yogurt. I found that it aint worth the fuss or a trip there. Since I was on my lunch break with time constraints, I had planned on ordering the frozen yogurt and taking it back to the office with me. Unfortunately, this LT Café does not give you that option, so I got a table for my lonesome self and ordered a small lunch along with small yogurt for dessert. The yogurt menu gives you 2 flavor choices: Plain and Chocolate. The small size is $ 5 and does not come with toppings. The Plain yogurt is somewhat tart, just like yogurt, but not as tart as Pinkberry. The chocolate was just chocolate. I made the mistake of ordering a swirled combo– chocolate with a tart tasting plain yogurt a very palette pleasing combination. As for the texture of the yogurt, it is creamy and not icy like some frozen yogurt places(ie. Yogurtland in the W. Village). I was disappointed in the temperature of the yogurt since I noticed it was slightly melting as the waitress placed it in front of me. Soon after it just kept melting more and more. I only ate half the bowl of yogurt, no longer being able to stand the mix of tartness with chocolate, let alone melting, yogurt. I asked for the check and bounced, disappointed at my $ 16 bill for some flatbread and tomatoes with a mediocre frozen yogurt dessert. The café closes at 5pm on weekdays, so don’t’ bother rushing there to try the yogurt. Instead, hop a few blocks east to get Red Mango or a few blocks south to get Pinkberry. For $ 5.96, you’ll get great yogurt plus 3 toppings. But if you happen to be shopping in Lord and Taylor on the 6th floor, you might as well give it a try. It is definitely better than Yoqua on 23rd street(Bt Park and Lex), which leaves a nasty film in your mouth.
