OMG, this place is a joke. The prices are a bit of shock for diner-style Chinese and about $ 7 – 10 more than you would think they would be. If they are going to charge $ 16 for a basic chicken and rice dish that is worth about $ 8 – 9, you would hope they would know how to cook. The blandest Spanish food I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot of Spanish food in the original Spanish countries and in NY. Ordered the Dominican Chicken with Rice. The rice tastes more like something from a Chinese dish and the chicken had almost no flavor or taste whatsoever. They put a few green olives in to make you think they know Spanish food. Left half of the dish on the table. The 70s décor is depressing and the service is forced, cold and just going through the motions. To top it off, even the hand dryer in the bathroom doesn’t dry your hands. Par for the course for their lack of attention to detail.

Food was decent, the service was was okay at first they are very attentive in the beginning. But the moment they see you stop eating they pounce on you to remove your plates thou you may still be enjoying the conversation. They hover near the table in groups as if to rush you to leave. Not returning again.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is excellent and the Buta is superb. This family run business remains a staple on the upper West while maintaining quality food, excellent service and a very relaxed atmosphere.

Ah the old standard still sits on 95th and Broadway. At one time in NYC there were hundreds of these Chino-Cubano places. La Nueva has been around since the mid 1960s. The big draw for La Nueva are the very strong drinks. Pricey at 13.95, but all you need is one and you’re good for the night. The wait staff is very attentive, led by Simon and his wife. The seating is plentiful and comfortable. This is a no rush place where you can bring your friends and family and have a beautiful time. All are welcome. You will not find a more diverse clientele than at La Nueva. From PHD professors to the«self-employed» everyone has a great time here! My favorite dishes — Lobster Cantonese, Rib Steak, Broiled Chuletas, Mariscos over yellow rice, and the Mongolian Beef. My favorite drinks — «Butter,» «Nutcracker,» «Singapore Sling,» «Best of Both Worlds(their strongest drink),» and«Blue Hawaii.»

I asked how much they serve and they told me that they would fill one plate of rice and the other of sesame chicken. I ordered out so when I got home they gave me the little carton of rice and half the plate of sesame chicken which was very watered down. The food wasn’t even good. I was very upset cause it was very pricy

It’s pretty pricy for the amount they serve and on top of that the food wasn’t even that great. I got sesame chicken and they only filled less then half the plate any it was watered down. The rice didn’t have a lot of flavor. And the soup didn’t come with the chips. Not the best place to go.

The hot and sour soup is very tasty. And there are other soups on the menu that we’ve never seen. So we’ve got to try those. The meat dumplings were not our favorite. The egg roll may have been better if it was served hot. My Szechuan shrimp was supposed to be spicy. Hubby’s mussels and lobster(from the Spanish part of the menu) was tasty. The restaurant itself was a bit chaotic while we were there. I’d order take out next time.

I have been eating at this establishment since I was a child. It was my family’s go to spot, so we can catch-up with each other. Sadly, after the death of my mother in 2008, I stopped eating here. The memories of us here was just too much for me to bear. I began eating here again several months ago because I started to dating a guy who resides near this place… I must say the price had increased a whole lot since I been there. I guess their rent went up or something. Now to the food, Their chicken fired rice comes with just the right amount of egg, onions, and green onion and it is the best I ever had!!! the waiting staff are not welcoming at all. I don’t know if it because they are a bit older, or just tired from being on their feet all day…

I give this place only one star because I really didn’t like it. From the old décor and waiters standing around and starring at you to the menu all together. Fist of all I think its overpriced. Although there is a huge selection of food I wasn’t pleased with mi dish. I ordered a Dominican chicken and yes I understand how can you order a Dominican dish in a Chinese restaurant. Well(lol), I gave it a try because I love Spanish food and I really to give it a chance. It came in a pot, lots of food but there was lots of rice and little bit of chicken and it was just dry. My friend ordered Mongolian beef and I didn’t even want to taste it, it just didn’t look appetizing and trust me I am not a picky eater. I had a glass of red wine and it came warm… So yes, I would not recommend and I will not go back.

I have been coming here since I could barely walk– at least 35 years. The food has always been good. It used to be Chinese-Cuban Americans, now I think they are mostly Chinese-Dominican American cooks. Great American-Chinese food and Hispanic food. Where else can you get Spanish style steak, shrimp fried rice, egg drop soup and plantains in the same order? Their breaded steak is the size of a sheet and is usually very good. Come here hungry!

The food here is slightly better than regular Chinese take-out places, but considering the price, I still fill a little disappointed because neither the portion nor the flavor satisfies me like what I will expect eating in a Latin place for $ 20.

The food is good there is a combo menu that would fill you up. I usually get the broiled seafood platter with shrimp fried rice or the boneless crackling chicken with French fries. There number one alcohol drink is the Butta or Nut cracker. its a good place to bring family members to but usually it’s packed on friday and saturday night so lunch time is best. Ask for Simon he usually hooks you up unless he to busy to talk when it’s packed.

Boiled and spoiled beef. Ate the rice just so I wouldn’t starve to death. The only way I’d come back here is if someone held a taser to my nut sack and forced me to shovel this sludge down my throat.

La Nueva Victoria is significantly better than your average Upper West Side Chinese take-out place and is my go-to for a tasty dinner. Their food can be on the salty side but I’ve never been disappointed. Love the ambiance and food. I see some really negative reviews but honestly most of them sound like people who had a bad day. :P

I ventured to the upper east side to meet my friend for another post birthday dinner. My friend swore by this place because they make the best drink — called Butter. The non-descript location had people sitting with families enjoying a family style dinner. The Latin– Chinese fusion was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter was very attentive and gave me time to pick something I was familiar to. We ordered the«butter» drink which tasted like a really strong sex on the beach. I ordered a small– but there was nothing«small» about this drink. If you’re a fan of sweet drinks — this is for you! After looking over the menu several times — I was still unsure on what to order. The waiter recommended I have the boiled shrimp with garlic– which came with rice and salad. I substituted the fried rice for yellow rice added black beans. My friend ordered #15– which was a seafood feast. Fish — shrimp — scallops and clams All made in butter and garlic. His meal was served friend rice and a salad. Both our meals came in a timely manner. I was served first — followed by my friend. The food was delicious and very filling. I could not eat the entire meal. Looking forward to my left overs tomorrow. After our meals-fortune cookies and the bill was brought over. The meal was great– the service was excellent and the wait staff was friendly. I look forward to dining here again! I would give this place a 3.5 stars but the atomism here — bit gets a 4 for taste!

I absolutely love this place. The service and food here is wonderful. I’ve been coming here since 2005 and getting the same food too lol. The chicharron de pollo sin hueso(boneless chicken crackling) it is like the best I’ve ever had. The waiter Giovanni is amazing I love his personality I wish guys like him worked in every restaurant. I’ve also ordered the steak from them which my cousin said is the best steak ever as well as the shrimp and broccoli but the broccoli is a bit watery. My other favorite plate is the house special fried rice I always order a big one I wish these guys delivered to my area. I definitely recommend this place it is one of my top restaurants in the city.

Horrible! Expected better but nope! Half way threw the food and came across this thing. What the hell?! It looked like a big ass beetle. I asked the waiter and he said it was a mussle and walked away! So I called this waitress over and she said it was probably from the shell of a mussle because it sometimes have stuff in side. I asked how can that be when you only have the muscles in, not the shell. Don’t you guys clean it? We were so disgusted we left! No more Chinese food.
