Can’t speak for the food. I got turned off before i could order. The guy in the truck smokes constantly.

This used to be owned by Jimmy Hoffa. Then it was bought by Jimmy Fallon back when he had Acne. He got rid of all of it except for one pimple, which he still has. It’s known as Jimmy’s Spot. So I really didn’t like Jimmy’s Spot. I give it three stars just because it’s locally owned and a food truck and decently priced and they’re doing their best. But I found the rice to be the chalky kind(maybe from frozen), the chicken souvlaki was dry and boring, and the shish or gyro was a little bland and tasteless. So it did nothing for me, but I fully support them and hope that all of their fans continue to enjoy them for years to come.

Another stop on the regular weekly lunch tour. Been going here for years with co-workers like an old school mailman, neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night can keep me from Jimmy’s Spot. Okay well I haven’t been there at night but I would be if they were there. I must note a correction to the category. I really wouldn’t categorize this cart as middle eastern. Definitely no middle eastern spices happening. I’ve always categorized as Greek(souvlaki, gyros) but they also have burgers, grilled chicken salads/platters, steak sandwiches, sausage hero so it’s quite a mix but again, not middle eastern. I guess I just categorize as Greek because ‘Jimmy’ the owner is Greek. There have been at least 3 ‘Jimmys’ running the cart but the current ‘Jimmy’ is my favorite. He pronounces mayonnaise funny and brings homemade baklava sometimes. All that just adds to the charm of this street food cart. Okay back to the food, pretty straight-forward stuff, good value, good portions, consistently good, fresh food. I usually go with grilled chicken in a pita with fried onions and white sauce(4 $). Also add on a kebab(3 $) with white, hot, and BBQ. Also good are the platters($ 6.50) which is your choice of meat with rice and salad. Love the burger(4 $) but i always ask for it in a pita with fried onions. Steak sandwich is decent too when I’m in the mood. Worth a stop if you’re in the area. See you there.

Great food. I had the Chicken Plate, and I was really pleasantly surprised with the flavor of the chicken. It was actual recognizable parts of chicken, and the seasoning was flavorful, even able to cut through the white sauce that I asked him to slather over my chicken in preparation for what I thought would be tasteless. Chicken plate + bottle of soda was only 8 dollars, which is pretty great. I’m stuffed as I write this, so mission accomplished! Note: the hot sauce is barely hot, at least over top of the white sauce. Feel free to order it without fear that its going to destroy your soul like other food carts.

Went here on Wednesday. Grilled Chicken Platter was total awesomeness. I think just too much onions on there. Had to pop an altoid after the meal, LOL but I loved every bite. The chicken tasted so good and so fresh. –Editor’s not: July 2011– The rice and salad alone is now $ 4.00. To me that is kind of alot but you get a really good salad with light italian dressing– I GETIT with onions, thrown in there too. Back to the meat, someone else was right you definitely get a more greek based street meat than you typical halal place. The food is definitely more GREEK oriented, not Middle Eastern at all. The lamb does have alot better quality taste than most of other Street Meat places. The white sauce is different too, this one is thicker base, more yogurt tasting, I guess.

I was steered away from XPL to try Jimmy’s Spot due to the incredible ratings by fellow Unilocalers. But in my humble opinion, this cart is certainly more appealing on paper than in actual experience. Prices are average for food carts in the area with a double meat combo platter going for $ 6.50. Unfortunately, the platter is ruined by dry chicken and lamb. The rice was also too soggy to be really enjoyed. I only wanted to write this review after ensuring this was not a one-time occurrence given the high marks already given. I will have to be a non-conformist on this one and say I have definitely had better. On the other hand, the portions are definitely larger than XPL despite the fact they can be stingy on the meat. Maybe there is something to be salvaged if I try the combo platter one more time with the Italian sausage, but it will probably be a while as I will try to forget the mediocre experiences thus far.

Not bad, I’m trying not to eat gut busting coma inducing lunches and what do i do? hoof it over to this place I’d been meaning to try. Yes, everything was in better quality than a typical halal cart, but then again, I went straight for the lamb, a very typical halal dish. maybe I’ll come back, before the summer is over and take the advice of the other reviewers.

Can;t recommend highly enough. This is Greek style streat meat food cart, as opposed to the abundance of middle eastern ones. God for the«half and half platter» with half grilled chicken breast and half gyro lamb meat over a salad and yellow rice. Add white sauce, hot sauce and italian dressing over the salad and you will not be disappionted!

This place is closer to 2nd ave, but you can smell the delicious food grilling as soon as you cross 3rd. For those that have already discovered this gem, you will see them in a long line, which moves very fast. The portions are humongous but tasty. I get the grilled chicken platter over rice & salad. The guy actually uses prime chicken breast, instead of chopping up legs and throw-away meat and marinating the shit out of it.
