I have eaten here a couple times and had breakfast both times. I would recommend the french toast. The service was good, typical diner.

I don’t recommend the falafel. I just ordered one and it is inedible. Cold and stale.

Shwarma is great, but too expensive for the pita sandwich. When they first opened after 4PM they sold the sandwich for about 5 bucks. Now it is like 10 bucks and the guys behind the counter don’t seem to be that familiar with what they are serving… maybe that was only in the beginning when they first opened… so won’t hold that against them. Still, very nice kosher chicken shwarma sandwich.

I ordered lamb and got chicken — it’s greasy and gross. Throwing it away and getting a slice of pizza.

The sign out front said worlds best falafel … while i doubt that maybe i should of stuck with what their specialty is. The chicken shawarma is however what i went with. I went with the works. Hummus, cucumber salad«hot sauce». Everything about it was bad. Soggy cucumber salad, the hot sauce had a slightly off flavor to it and well while i would rather not talk about the chicken i fear I must. Gristle and lots of it. Just plain nasty to bite into … bite after bite. The service was not much better than the food. I could go on but its apparent I did not like this and would never suggest it to anyone. Ever.

This is the opposite of the cheap midtown lunch place. They have a great cheap DINNER special, where you can get a shawarma for under $ 6 or best of all, a falafel for under $ 3 after 3pm. I would never come here for lunch, but the dinner time falafel deal is a really really great deal. The falafel is good, but not great. It’s not Maoz but for a decently healthy, tasty dinner for $ 3, i emplore you to find a better deal. Their hot sauce is pretty tasty, but not overly hot. The falafel could have been a bit crisper, but the flavors are really solid. The food is 3.5 stars The value is 5 stars I am rounding down due to the some what deceiving signage out front, advertising the specials with the small«after 3pm only» disclaimer being so small that you can’t see it until you’ve been nearly drawn in.

I love middle eastern food and I’m always excited when a new middle eastern restaurant opens. I stopped by Green Olive today with my wife. The place is cute and very clean. The menu is kosher and very simple — shwarma, felafel, various assorted chicken sandwiches, burgers and fries. There is a salad bar but it is not self-service. The staff will fill up your pita or salad bowl based on what you tell them to put in. I had a felafel sandwich and my wife had grilled chicken in a pita. I love felafel and my sandwich was excellent. The various salads I selected for my pita were fresh and tasty. The felafel balls themselves were terrific. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich. GO provided complementary hot tea. This is a very nice gesture on a cold winter day. The prices were reasonable especially considering it is a kosher place. I have two minor complaints that prevent me from giving GO5 stars. For starters, the eating section is tiny. We were lucky enough to get a table, but the place quickly got very crowded. A seat at GO is probably not a guarantee and the place is best for takeout. Also, there were a couple of large signs in front of the place listing great prices for felafel and shwarma in big bold letters. However, the signs said — in microscopic letters — that the prices were only valid after 3:00. The food is still reasonable even without these discounts. However, I was a bit turned off by this trick. Nevertheless, the food here was very good. I’ll be back.

The cold temperatures and thick layers make it pretty tempting to pack on extra winter pounds. However, don’t forget that in just a few months(I promise, it will come sooner than you think) you’ll be pulling out the bathing suit regretting those winter lunchtime binge sessions. Instead, use this time to eat healthy and get your body in tip top shape while no one is watching… Green Olive, a new Mediterranean walk up lunch bar in Midtown, opened last month. This certified Kosher café(oy! because we don’t have enough in the city!) is perfect for a lunchtime shawarma. I devoured a piping hot whole wheat pita filled with fresh grilled chicken, zucchini, squash, tahini, baba ghanoush(eggplant spread) and hummus. You can add other things like falafel or rice if you need something more filling but my $ 10 Mediterranean pocket kept me fueled for the entire day. tis the season… to get fit!

Normally I’d ho-hum a brand new kosher pita joint near my office; aren’t there enough options for falafel around this area? However, unlike its competitor(?) NY Kosher Lunchbox next door, Green Olive serves glatt kosher meat. Though what really caught my eye: burgers for $ 5.95. Whaaat? Kosher burgers for under 6 bucks? I am so there. Green Olive is tiny and meticulously clean. Strangely, you have to pay before you order. My burger took a while to cook, but it was flavorful, juicy and cooked to order. It comes in either a whole wheat or regular pita and it can be loaded with any or all of the salad bar options at no extra charge! Hello hummus, red cabbage, pickles, eggplant, grilled veggies, spicy sauce, etc etc! They also do have falafel sandwiches for $ 4.95 which is the least expensive item on the menu aside from sides(like fries). Everything else, the schwarma, chicken salad, etc will cost $ 9.95 depending on the item. Next to the food counter is complimentary Lipton tea. Cool. This is a basic place serving basic food but it all seems fresh and I was very happy with my lunch. I haven’t seen a cheaper kosher burger anywhere else!
