Javits Center

Go to the Javits Center voluntarily? I think not. The only reason to come here is for the shows and events that you need to go to. The show is far out of the way of the rest of the city, even though it is in midtown. Fortunately, a new subway stop opened not far away because parking is unreasonable.

We recently attended the 2016 New York Food and Beverage show. The show was huge, delicious and loads of fun.
Right along the scenic Hudson River, Javits Center occupies 6 city blocks! A walk around the center and you’ll notice information about a recent renovation. Without geeking out too much, I’d say the skylight panels and the energy-​saving green roof are probably my favorite parts of the building. From the outside, the building is enormous, but once your inside all that natural light not only enhances the space but softens the overwhelming architecture.

Attended the New York 2016 Autoshow. Great display of exotic cars: Aston Martin, MClaren, Bentley. However, I would have enjoyed the show more of there were more futuristic cars with little dependence on fossil fuel.

For a professional trade fair, I explored the pristine and well-​organized Javits center.
The light and modern architecture had a wonderful open feel in the humongous lobby.
The venue was located a short walk from the Penn Station. Great location!
$ 3 per item for the coat check, a Starbucks on-​site with a delicious and pricey zesty chicken and black bean salad, higher parking prices due to the event, etc.
You will get better priced food and beverage options if you were to go out of the Jarvits center to get a collation in the neighborhood…

Such a nice building. Use the Starbucks down a level which is not so crazy. Bathrooms there too. One end of the High Line too which is a great stroll.

I only ever come here for the car show, but it is conveniently located close to the Lincoln tunnel and walking distance from the ferry. The place is huge, clean, and a great place to see a car show. Be prepared to walk, it is big.

Huge venue for conventions, trade shows, and my family’s favorite event: the annual New York International Auto Show. We have come here the past few years to attend the Auto Show and have been blown away each time. The expansive floor space allows for plenty of displays/​vehicles. The one thing about the place being as large as it is would be that you will get a good workout and wear out your shoes if you cover the entire place. It’s located on 11^th Avenue and pretty much takes up 4 entire city blocks from 34^th Street to 38^th Street!
When you walk in, you will notice how open and airy the place feels. There are several halls/​expo to accommodate exhibitions of various sizes. The Auto Show takes up pretty much every nook and cranny and allows for specialty/​themed displays to have their own space. There are also places to eat. During the Auto Show, for example, there are many different types of cuisine or munchies from which you can choose.

I come to the javits center ever year for the auto show. The center is huge with different levels and plenty of clean bathrooms (pretty sure I’ve never had to wait online for the bathroom). They keep trash cans everywhere so you’re not looking constantly for a place to throw something out. Cheapest beer was $ 8 and the food is pricey but you can get a decent empanada for $ 4. They have cars, trucks, motorcycles and some classic cars. There were Jeep, Toyota and electric car test rides all driven by special drivers of course. A great venue for a car show, I’ve never been disappointed coming here!

Came to the center for the annual international auto show. Place is huge, and overwhelming in a positive way. Great venue for trade shows and well equipped for the large crowds.
Parking is a nightmare, traffic is ridiculous, but it’s NYC, what do you expect?!
Lines for food is always present and expect crazy prices. Food choices are limited, not much of a hearty selection, but it’s a convention center, not a mall.
It’s NYC, so after your visit, there are tons of eateries locally. I recommend NOT driving there! LIRR, bus or subway is the way to go. I drove… every time… I should take my own advice, but I deal with high blood pressure from the traffic and finding parking only because I hate public transportation.
The auto show isn’t like it used to be, not a great selection of custom exotic cars displayed this year… less giveaways if any at all except, cheap bags for those brochures. Years ago, t-​shirts, hats, travel bags, etc were abundant. Auto manufacturers have really cut their promo budgets.
Don’t go on a weekend! It’s packed where you can’t even walk around.

The first time I came here was on 4÷10÷10. I was here for the car show. It was my first time going to a car show. This place is really nice and big. Pretty much bigger than the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. I come here for the car shows. I met a news reporter here and received an autographed photo.

I’ve been to this venue several times for different events and never had a negative experience. The place is huge and great for conventions. They have bathrooms on all levels and the trick is to walk a little further to go to the bathrooms away from the event you’re attending.
My most recent visit to Jacob Javitz was to attend the New York Times travel show in Jan 2016. I took the E train and walked a few avenues up to the event. Lo and behold I passed the new MTA stop– 34^th street, Hudson Yards Station that was just across the street from the Javitz center. Woo hooo, no more waiting for that slow azz M34 bus or trekking it back to the subway.

The Javits Center is humongous. It used to be a bit of a hassle getting here, but now, with the new 7 subway stop, transport is a cinch. There’s plenty of ladies room here, so even if there is a packed convention, you can find one with no lines. Security staff was great. Awesome place for conventions/​shows in NY.

This place has gotten a lot more travel-​friendly with the addition of the Hudson Yards stop on the 7 line. Although if you’re coming here on the weekend, good luck on taking the train. You’re more likely to end up standing on the platform with everyone else at Times Square, wondering if it was really worth waiting half an hour for the train to show up just to save yourself a few avenues of walking. But I digress.
I’ve been to Javits Center for a number of events, including Comic Con, Meet the Breeds, and most recently, the NY Times Travel Show. The place is HUGE. The check-​in and ticket lines vary depending on the event (at the Travel Show, it was abysmally disorganized). There’s a lot of bathrooms throughout the center and they are clearly marked, which is a plus.
It’s purely an event space, big and open and designed to be used however the event organizers choose to have it, as it’s pretty bland and sterile by itself. There’s some food concessions outside the main room, but they are limited and nothing special (hot dogs and snacks). But as this place has the capacity to hold really big trade shows and conventions, it definitely serves its purpose very well.

NY Times travel convention was awesome. Had event /​exhibitors from all around the world in every area of travel you can think of; backpacking, canoeing, hiking, cruising, airlines, hoteliers, national geographic places to see in your lifetime. The place is packed, hug and bathroom are on lower level or toward back of venue with good signage. The Starbucks at the entryway is clean, quick and have a lot of options. There are always giveaways (Bags, brochures, candy, pens, key chains etc) for marketing purposes of the companies you decide to visit. A good experience and located close enough to the train, airport and taxi service as well as bus service. We opted to walk from the main train as it was a cool crisp day.

The Javits Center is NYC’s convention center, and as such replaced the 1950’s NY Coliseum at Columbus Circle whose former site is now occupied by the Time Warner Center. The Coliseum was extremely convenient for New Yorkers, but was insufficiently large for the mega-​trade shows that promoters wished to attract, thus the decidedly inconvenient structure adjacent to the Westside Highway designed by James Freed of the firm now known of Pei Cobb Freed opened in 1986 to critical reviews from both the architectural press and visitors. Named for the late U.S. Senator from NY Jacob K. Javits, a renovation and expansion was launched in 2006 and can now be seen on both the outside and the inside, although opinions on it are still mixed at best, particularly among those of us who have attended events at other convention centers around the nation.

Well i have been to the Jacob Javits Center a few times for various conventions and this place is huge. i didn’t know how large it was when i was at a CCW convention and it did not take half of what could of it could of taken. there is not much food portions around the area and the food inside is expensive as hell. there is a mcdonalds on like 36^th or 35^th and 11^th avenue. other than that cool venue!

This was a very nice venue for the New York City Marathon expo. It has been here in the 3 years that I’ve run this marathon. It’s super convenient to get to with the 7 train stopping about a block or so at the 34 St Hudson Yards subway station. There’s also plenty of food options inside and outside the venue. The venue was perfect because it was big enough to comfortably accommodate 50 thousand runners along with their family and friends.

Hey, it’s a big multi-​purpose conference center, so how much can you really say about it. I found some of the rooms I was in to be cold (both in temperature and in looks). Also, not enough bathrooms, at least in the area we were in for the most recent conference I was here for. A mens room with 4 urinals and 2 stalls with one stall down for maintenance, is just not enough. While it’s common to see a line for the ladies room, it’s not as common to see that for a mens room, but that was often the case here. Food was just OK. I do like the fact that it’s within walking distance of Penn Station, but you’ll only find a few decent hotels in and around the area.

This is my second year running the New York City Marathon and each year the expo has been in the Javits Center.
As there are over 50k runners that participate in this event (not to mention the friends and families that also attend the expo), the Javits Center is the perfect local for it.
The space is so huge that even when we were there last weekend there was another convention that was going on simultaneously it never felt crowded.
In addition to the convention spaces, the Center has several fast casual dining options as well as numerous bathrooms throughout the space.
I cannot speak to transportation to and from the Javits Center as I walked here from my hotel.

Great place to visit if you are in NYC. It’s right by Hudson River. This is where many conventions, fairs, expo events or shows are held. I heard Comic Con was held here before. We came here on a whim and there was a camera convention but not open to the public. You have to have a badge. They do offer free wifi but it didn’t really work.
The place is beautifully structured and I think held by metal bars? It’s kinda scary that the shell of this place is all made of glass on the outside that it would shatter easily if there was an earthquake. I keep forgetting there are no earth quake here like in the Bay Area! There is a food court to eat here and of course, a Starbucks as well. We used their bathrooms as it was clean. I enjoyed checking this building out…

Though its a bit of a hike that is only a problem when the weather is terrible, but this is my favored convention space and though my check ins are few according to Unilocal,I have been here for six NY Comic Cons and five Photo Expos and Toy Fairs. It’s spacious for sure but one should be aware that unless an event host if offering it for free, the WiFi means inside are costly. This is an issue for me since Verizon killed my unlimited data plan but I digress. When I wander Javits its often solo with mission statements so I tell everyone reaching me is not a likely possibility.
There is a food court downstairs and that is good if you feel like spending a little more for something that you might easily find within a block or two walk. This is NYC after all and almost everything is at our fingertips in terms of dining options. Speaking strictly for me I like to head to either Landmark Tavern on 46^th or the slightly farther American Retro Bar and Grill on 50^th after my convention adventures since I can ease up and relax. During anything you are doing at Javits I must recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and keep yourself hydrated. Carrying a bottle of Purell never hurts either. The place is massive and depending on the event you are hitting will keep you moving. I do both Comic Con and Toy Fair here and they use almost every space but the Photo Expo only uses a section of the main floor as general display while other areas are conferences. Either way its huge.
Trekking to Javits used to be an issue but now there is a number 7 train that leaves you just a short block away. You can also wait for the cross town bus if you are getting off on 6^th Avenue and 34^th Street (just don’t forget to get the little ticket receipt since the transit cops do come on the bus and ask randomly to see it. Its a $ 100+ fine if you cannot locate it).
That’s all I have for the Javits, and I’ve always enjoyed the conventions that we’ve hit here. You should as well depending on your interests.

This place is HUGE! Great place for a convention like Comic-​Con — which I went to last week. The event itself was so fun and there were SO MANY PEOPLE. I must admit, there were so people in attendance that the place seemed strangely small and a definitely over crowded. After half the day my sister started to become impatient with the lines and just fed up with having to walk at a snails pace moving with the crowd to get to our next location. All in all we had a great time… But I wonder what the fire rating is for this place…

This is far behind Vegas or San Fran. Rude staffs. Bathroom way too far. No seats anywhere. Wifi pathetic

I was here in order to attend a conference, it’s really huge. There are a lot of different rooms and a really enormous auditorium.
Indications over the buildings are ok, but what I really don’t like was the automatic stairs, they are a bottleneck between floors.
Everything was clean, and usually there are a lot of different things happening there, so watch out your kids to don’t get them lost. Depending on the event, huge lanes can come out the building along the sidewalk there.
WiFi worked really good, but event WiFi is restricted by event-​related areas, so you must stick to your conference to get internet connectivity.

I’ve been to many convention centers in my career (s) as an exhibitor and as an attendee and Javits isn’t that impressive. I was impressed with the size of the Summer Fancy Food Show that took up the entire conference space. If that’s the case then you should be able to enter the conference center through different doors. This in NYC so many attendees are walking city blocks to get there from hotel rooms and Javits covers 5 blocks alone. I walked 4 blocks to get there on 40^th, then I had to go another 5 blocks just to get to the entrance on 34^th. Doesn’t make sense especially when the American exhibitors were down on the 40^th st end of the center.
A few more gripes:
–Unpleasant workers guarding doors
–Not enough seating in the common areas… especially areas where there should be seating… at food vendors
–workers with no knowledge of registration differences
–the coffee served in the sessions isn’t very good
I must say that this is a cool location for a conference. You are in the heart of NYC coming to a convention at the Javits. So, you can probably afford yourself some time for a Broadway show only a few blocks away after a long day of conferencing. Penn station is about a 10 min walk away in 34^th st. Lots of fantastic shopping and restaurants nearby.

Came here for a tech conference. Didn’t mind the walk from Penn Station; I even enjoyed it.
Had trouble finding restrooms when I arrived. Also, there was a severe lack of power outlets which was frustrating to many people I spoke to throughout the day. It’s probably the only place where Starbucks is your cheap option for food. Didn’t make it to the food court to eat, but spoke to a guy who paid $ 10 for a pre-​packed tuna sandwich. Starbucks does offer some breakfast sandwiches so that’s a cheaper option.
The place is huge, the glass design is pretty cool. To the guy who expressed his concern about skin damage for those who work here all day: UV radiation is actually stopped by glass. Just so you know… But yeah, might be hot if the sun shines on your head all day.
When the day ended, it was raining cats and dogs. The entrances were packed with people and taxis and Über cars were coming and going. The location definitely makes it difficult in these kind of situations because there’s nowhere you can go.
Overall, pretty OK place. Temperature inside was pleasant, and it didn’t feel very crowded.

Space:
Beautiful space very modern and slick with a terrace leading out to the river front.
Its a great well thought out exhibition Center.
Apart the exhibition rooms, there are chill out ares with chain food– and drink stores, very airy and bright.
Clean and easy accessible bathrooms.
Effortless to get to with crosstown M34.
Auto Show:
My purpose of my visit was the Auto show, and of course it was amazing!
The intelligence of design transferred into cars is very impressive, I don’t even have a car but I was curious to see what are the latest models of the main brands.
Mercedes Benz was the winner as always… people were cueing to sit in the latest model. Mr & Mrs Mercedes, what is your secret? How did you manage to make Mercedes Benz a worldwide status symbol? From Hip Hop Star over Reality Star to Royalty and everyone else!!! They are all in Love with Mercedes.
If you are thinking to go the Auto show do not hesitate, its only 16 $ very reasonable.
I certainly recommend the Auto Show and Yes I would come back here for another exhibition.
Tip:
Don’t forget your camera and go with a friend so you can take pictures and selfies while you are posing behind the stirring wheel or next to your favorite model.
Also your children (if you have any) would love the show especially the boys!

I have visited Jacob Javits over the years to attend various events.
This easily has got to be one of or the largest venues in the NYC area.
But the location of this place is not the most convenient because it is a pretty far walk from most modes of public transportation and parking legally in the area is almost impossible.
