This is just the perfect, cosy neighborhood bar. It’s spacious, bustling without being frustratingly mobbed, has GREAT burgers(and many other comfort food choices on the menu) they pour a perfect Guinness, the bartenders are super-friendly, and they have ample TV sets tuned to whatever sports are happening at the time. The night we were there they played a near-flawless set of 90s rock at just the right volume. You can converse in a speaking tone, get a beer quickly, get a bit of elbow room, and watch the Rangers — what could be better?

Stopped in for a couple of hours to watch the pat’s game and started off with Jake’s tortilla chips. The chips were pretty hard and had no seasoning whatsoever the salsa tasted more like cocktail sauce and the serving size of guacamole was very small. We also had the mango chicken egg roles which were pretty bland as well. However, because they are known for their burgers we had a cheeseburger which was very tasty and the fries were mediocre. We also had the chopped salad which was as pretty good as a salad can get. We spent about $ 85 for two beers, two entrees and two appetizers, definitely overpriced for the quality of food. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you are planning to come don’t waste your money on the apps.

This is a great little bar for this neck of the woods. Good beer, big place, serves bar and fancier food. Lots of sports on TV, great bar staff. Has a substantial restaurant area and a big long bar. I went here twice and will likely go back again when I stay in the area. Had a great conversation with a couple who were organising a film festival and a couple of Aussies. On the second occasion I sat next to some muppet who thought he was all that and decided he would sing along to the music being played. Not their fault but geez mate. I’ll be back.

Incredibly slow service. No one to seat me or other people. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes, was acknowledged after 10, ignored afterward.

We had our holiday party at Jake’s last night. I can’t tell you how amazing it was. The staff was so friendly, the owner Jimmy, stayed the whole time to make sure everything went smoothly. He was also very easy to deal with. The food was amazing. We had passed around appetizers and they were yummy. The lobster empanadas were a huge hit!!! All in all 10 out of 10. We will definitely be long time customers!

Worst Bar Experience thanks to Brendan the Bartender. Walked into an almost empty bar and found a table to watch a football game. I requested the waiter if he could change the tv to the Philadelphia Eagles game and he responded let me check. He returned and said the bartender said its being played in the other area do you want to go there? I responded with another request«There isn’t anyone in this area can you please turn it on and switch this game to the other one»? The waiter agreed and everything was alright. Over an hour later the tv suddenly changes right at an important time in the game! I ask the waiter what happened and he responded«I don’t know, it’s not my call» I goto Brendan the bartender and ask politely I’ve been sitting there for over an hour watching the game can you please turn it back. His response«No» and say why? «How much money have you spent?! He says? I was shocked! I had ordered and ate food but he was yelling at me for not ordering alcohol! WTF? Well, I cashed out and tipped my server because it wasn’t their fault but I will not be back on in this bar ever again thanks to Brendan the Bartender.

Well at least they have $ 6 Bud Lights, so that’s nice! The atmosphere seems like they added TVs to their wall for the sole purpose of being able to categorize themselves as a sports bar, because nobody watches them and it’s been completely dead every time I’ve been. Not worth stopping by.

Wasn’t that happy with this place. The food is really pricey for what it is. Don’t even get me started on the drinks and shots!!! Very expensive and no specials going on. The food was not great. The turkey in my turkey wrap seemed kinda processed. The only good thing was the service. Our waiter was very attentive. I wouldn’t come back.

Stopped in Friday afternoon to take a load off and have a beer before marching on to an appointment. As I walked in the small bar appeared largely full but there was a knapsack on one barstool. I inquired of the guy sitting closest to it as to whether anyone was sitting there. He put his hand on the backpack and said,“I’m waiting for a friend.” By this time the bartender is standing in front of us and not saying a word. The bartender is the captain of the ship in such situations entirely aside from the standard bar etiquette that dictates that you cannot reserve a barstool for someone not there when someone who is there needs it. But of course, one would not want to sit next to the guy with the knapsack or be served by the wretch who would not stand up for what was right in his bar. So I said, «This is not how it is supposed to work,» and left. I have passed Jake’s Saloon here on West 23rd Street many times and this was my first, and of course, last, time there or at any bar by that name. I will tell all my friends, and acquaintances, and strangers. For shame.

Just came in to have some drinks while we waited for a table to eat next door. Great vibe, good music and drinks. The drinks were good, my cousin and I had beers and my wife had a vodka soda that she enjoyed. She said they were strong and good. The beer was great. Can’t really go wrong ordering a beer.

My friend and I visited their bar for a pre-dinner cocktail and were pretty happy over all. We sat at the bar and had a good chat with the bartender — very nice guy and he made great martini’s! We didn’t eat, so I can’t speak to that, but as far as a laid back bar scene with good drinks, this is a great place to stop!

I mean, look, Jake’s Saloon is what it is. You’re in a kind of odd area in the city and if you’re looking for trendy NYC, you’re not going to get it here. Keep that in mind. I’ve been here a couple times. Once before a UCB show for drinks and another after an event in the area. I’d say it’s a valid option pre-comedy show… probably filled with people doing the same thing you are — killing time. The second time I went a couple weeks ago I had both food and drinks and sat at the bar. For starters, the bartender was super friendly and full of food recommendations. My friend and I shared the calamari which was extremely good and the dipping sauce was awesome. We also shared the burger(I’ve had better) and the warm goat cheese salad with grilled chicken which was pretty decent but ask for extra dressing. Anyway, a-ok for what it is.

Go for the tricky ale! We stopped at Jake’s after a UCB show, mostly because it was open late on a Thursday. We had a good time. Normally I would write more, but like I said it was a late night and my memory is a bit hazy. Hopefully I will drop by again.

Yikes! Anywhere else would have been better. –No air conditioning in August. –Limited food menu and $ 30 entrees at a Pub?! –All my wings, except for the first one I ate, were burnt On a Friday night around 10 pm, there were about 12 people here. Not the most bumping place. Go somewhere else.

After eating dinner at the Outback me and a co-worker needed a bar to get drunk in nearby. We randomly came in here and were pleasantly surprised at the awesome music they were playing. They had on a great 90’s mix that stayed on till about midnight on a Saturday night. Greenday, Counting Crows, Tonic, Red Hot Chilipeppers, …then Ace of Base as the night wore on. Our bartender was really sweet and funny and attentive… I think his name was Erin? Shaved head and glasses. Patrons were friendly. Clean bathrooms. Big TV’s placed nicely at the bar that play a wide range of games. Overall it’s a decent low key, laid back spot in the area.

Bartenders fairly inattentive and and into talking to each other instead of the patrons. I’d tell you how the food was, but they never brought me a menu. I guess that’s why there are bar seats open during the World Series. No thanks. NEXT!

Party of two for after work bar night with my baby boy, we ventured nearby to Jake’s Saloon for a look — see of their alcohol. For Him: Long Island Ice Tea It was weak according to my friend and from my little imbibe it tasted like grapefruit juice from the acidity. For Her: Cabernet Sauvignon wine It was average but got me very tipsy. A sports bar with eight(8) TV screens. Nice ambiance with nice varnish wood tables without the wobbliness. Obscenely expensive for two drinks totally over $ 21.00(with sales tax). No comment on the bar food as I did not consume any. No comment on the facilities as I did not utilize. Customer service was mediocre as they seem to ridicule customers fending a insincere mask to degrade me passing off as rude joke.
