Boris is great. Professional cut and shave. Always a great experience. Better to call ahead to get an appointment or you might have to wait a while.

Friendly barbershop. Not the cheapest but nice cut, and neither is it overly expensive. Unfortunately, it is out of the way for me so I’m not sure if I’ll return. However, recommended and I don’t regret the trip.

Amazing haircut! Oksana was very nice and professional — great attention to detail. I’m nervous going to a barber sometimes, as a woman with a masculine haircut people can get weird… not at all — back and sides squared off without so much as an eyebrow raise. bravo. I will definitely get my hair cut here whenever I’m in the city.

I just moved to the city and was looking for a new hairstylist. A work friend had an adorable pixie cut (which i was looking for) and recommended this shop.
Oksana did a fantastic job! She took her time to make sure she understood what i was looking for (i brought in some pictures for inspiration, but i always like when stylists give their opinion to best suit my face shape and hair type). She was so enthusiastic and fun. I told her, and i’ll say it again, this is the best haircut I have ever had. She pays attention to the small details and takes special care to make the cut perfect.

This highly underrated barbershop is exactly what I was searching for since I moved to the UES. Reading this, you’ve likely experienced at least one of the many «old fashioned» barbers that have dropped their pins around the city. There are three fundamental differences with how Il Figaro II does business and how the rest of these «old fashioned» barbers do business…
1) Time.
My favorite part of my haircut with Oksana was that she took her time. She wasn’t in a rush to get to the next customer and they seem to spread their bookings out enough so they can take their time with each client. When you go to any other shop at this price point, you can see your stylist in the mirror, looking over their shoulder at the number of customers waiting. If there’s a few, they rush to get to the next person. Simply put… That won’t happen here.
2) Care.
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve gotten a haircut and told the stylist ‘the left side is longer’ or ‘my sideburns aren’t even’. And then they realize (despite already telling me they were finished) that what I said was true. Oksana at Il Figaro II is a perfectionist… And that’s hard to find in NYC these days.
3) Talent.
Anyone can cut hair. Not everyone can cut your hair to make you look your best and then teach you how to style it. Oksana did just that. She recommended the best style for me, razor cut my hair (Il Figaro II is the only place in NY other than Stephen Knoll that I’ve gotten a true razor cut), and after the hot towel, eyebrow trim and neck shave, Oksana taught me how I could style my hair the way she did.
Il Figaro II gives a $ 150 haircut for $ 35.

So happy to have found this perfect barbershop. Greeted with warm hellos when I walked in, given a bottle of water, discussed with Boris what I wanted, expert blending and cutting, exquisite attention to detail, finished up with a warm towel and shampoo. Already looking forward to my next haircut.

I’m not sure I can add anything that hasn’t been said, but I still feel compelled to write this nonetheless. I’ve tried many NYC barbershops/​haircutters over the years, and in short have had mixed/​inconsistent results that led me to try the next one, etc. I first got a haircut with Oksana about a year ago, and in a word was floored. The welcome, the «just right» feel, the «just right» amount of pre-​cut questions as someone already said, and then an attentive, great cut wrapped in a warm experience. When I went back the second time, Oksana not only remembered me, but every detail of my original cut and voila, repeat performance. Since then I’ve gone in with different ideas a couple of times, all went great, and on the most recent cut I just asked Oksana to do whatever she thought would look good. And, predictably, another winner.
So, here’s the summary– we don’t know each other, but do yourself a favor and go in for a cut. I use Oksana, but Boris seems great and the reviews obviously back that up. Good local businesses should be supported, and this place passes every measure as far as I am concerned.

Outstanding establishment. Boris is a rare breed these days, as he truly cares about your entire experience. The haircuts are perfection, but for Boris that’s not enough. He’ll insist on washing your hair (for free) if there’s no line behind you, and he’s always quick to offer a shot of whiskey or vodka, or just a bottle of water if that’s what you prefer. It’s a shame more business owners can’t approach their work with the same pride and attention to detail that Boris does.

I would recommend Boris and Oksana to everyone on the upper east side (and beyond!). I have had fantastic experiences from both of them. Figaro II is a great old school barber experience. They are meticulous with their craft, and I always come away looking my best. Courteous, excellent service, a great haircut, and a great atmosphere. And if you’re at the end of your day or having a relaxing weekend, Boris will happily pour you a whiskey or vodka! Can’t beat this place.

Excellent barber shop, best I’ve found on the Upper East Side. The barber, Boris, is exceptionally professional and quite nice. He greets you with a small Poland Spring when you walk in. The haircuts are great, worth the $ 35, the space is immaculately clean and the hours are convenient. Plus, nothing better than a barber who pauses your trim and offers you a whiskey (or two,…) and a cookie.

I recommend Il Figaro to all friends, family and strangers on the upper east side. Even if you are not lucky enough to live right around the corner, as I do, it is certainly worth the trip.
Boris has been in the business for over 20 years and takes great pride in all facets of his craft. His classic barbershop hospitality is unmatched by anywhere I’ve been in the city or elsewhere. This barbershop is an elegant gem on East End Avenue. Boris and Oksana are very warm and hospitable. My son, age 10, and daughter, age 7, love the experience of appointments at this shop. The haircuts and services are superb for adults and children.

I am thrilled to have found a salon of Madison Avenue caliber right around the corner to my apartment building! Oksana has golden hands — I have not had such consistently good haircuts since John Frieda’s. She is exceptional. The difference, of course, being that I am getting a brilliantly executed haircut for a very affordable price. Both Oksana and Boris are true professionals and have created a wonderfully comfortable environment for both men and women. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

This is my husbands go to barber. Boris is friendly and understands my husbands style. His haircut always looks great. And his beard trims are right on point. It’s so great to have a real neighborhood shop up here.
