We are the original smashed and rolled ice cream from Thailand.

The way we make our ice cream in front of our customers is fun and creative as you have probably seen on Youtube or other social networking.

Basically, customers will create their own flavors by choosing ice cream base (ice cream liquid), mixers, toppings and sauce. With this customization, every cup will be unique and perfectly matched with customers’ tastes.

Also, customers can witness all ice cream making process, which will be done within a couple minutes.

First, an ice cream base and mixers are poured onto a special iced plate. Then, all ingredients will be chopped and smashed together with metal paddles as they start to freeze. In just minutes, the cream firms up and it will be spread into a thin layer, then, scraped into the chubby rolls.

History

Established in 2015.

In 2011, Rolled ice cream or Smashed ice cream (A.K.A. I-​TIM-​PAD in Thai) was firstly introduced to the world in Thailand under the brand «I-​TIM-​PAD»

This smashed and rolled ice cream is made from fresh ice cream liquid mixed with fresh fruits or any other mixers of customers’ choices. Also, it is fun to watch the ice cream making process.

With these uniqueness and deliciousness, I-​TIM-​PAD, the first rolled ice cream maker, has gained popularity in Thailand. Currently, I-​TIM-​PAD has more than 250 franchised locations in Thailand within 4 years.

One of I-​TIM-​PAD co-​founders, mr. Kajtisa Premwimol, saw the opportunity to introduce the original smashed and rolled ice cream to US. Therefore, he has decided to open «I-​CE NY» the first original smashed and rolled ice cream shop in Greenwich Village, NY.

I-​CE NY has opened on August 1st, 2015. We assure that visiting I-​CE means experiencing the originality of rolled ice cream.

Business Owner

Mr. Kajtisa Premvimol is a successful businessman who owns so many businesses in many industries in Thailand. One of his successful businesses is I-​TIM PAD or hand-​rolled ice cream. He is actually one of this hand-​rolled ice cream creators because he and his partners are the first ones who invented and developed this kind of ice cream and introduced it to the world starting from Thailand.

Since he found I-​TIM PAD brand in Thailand in 2011, he currently has more than 250 franchised locations in Thailand.

He saw the opportunity to introduce the rolled ice cream to US market. Therefore, he partners with his friends who have 10-​year experience in US restaurant industry and they have decided to open «I-​CE NY» the first original smashed and rolled ice cream shop in US.

Since opening in the US, I-​CE NY received very warm welcome from New Yorkers, he is so thankful for that. I-​CE NY is originally from Thailand, but mr. Kajtisa plans to expand to all around US and all around the world.

I ordered thai tea and coconut. Yes I bought 2 for myself. Don’t judge. I didn’t live in NYC, so when I got a chance I have to tried. They were DELICIOUS. The thai tea flavor reminded of thai tea I got from Thailand. Very authentic. The lychee in the thai tea was a little funky at first but after the second bite I want more and more. Never thought lychee will go so well with thai tea and condensed milk. The coconut is the bomb especially the combination of the toasted coconut on top and ice cream. The staff was very sweet and patient with me because I asked a lot of questions and couldn’t decided what to get. I’ve tried 10Below, their ice cream was ok nothing special. I ordered strawberry shawty. It was like creamy vanilla ice cream mixed with some strawberry. 10below has long lines, because it took them at least 3 mins to make 1 serving (compare to I CE NY less than 2 mins). Yes I timed it. Over all when I go back to nyc I HAVE to revisit I CE NY. I follow them on instragram. They always come out with new flavors. Jealous newyorker. Next time I will order one of each please!!!

Mmmmmmm a big ol’ cup of ice cream on a cold day? Yes please! Watching someone make the ice cream magically in front of you? Yes yes yes!
I was really excited to try the Thai smashed ice cream since I’ve seen it in action online before and have a sweet tooth that’s increasingly become less sweet.
I got the matcha green tea ice cream mixed /​smashed with mango which came out great. Topped with kochi and condensed milk (like any other true Asian dessert).
I was expecting the texture to be much lighter like shaved ice but this this THICK and I love it that way.
Highly recommend, would come here again. Yes.

Unseasonably warm weather calls for unseasonable treats.
You really learn a lot about a person when you eat with them. For example: I’ve noticed my friend is very one dimensional. He is a Basic B! How do I know this? He’ll only ever get the Matcha Madness. There’s another green tea option but he doesn’t bat an eyelid. GRANTED! The Matcha Madness is super delicious; the condensed milk really ties in all the flavors. But come on, there are different flavors. Wait… this reminds me of a Friends quote.

That’s right! Grab a spoon and dig in because there’s a new flavor every month! They even have an instagram account showcasing their monthly flavors and pop cultural ice cream designs. So you can have a quick gander online instead of going to the store.
My personal favorite is the Strawberry Cheesecake. Reminds me of a girl in my class who smelled like strawberries. I let her cheat off of me because she’s cute. But yeah, the cheesecake bites add depth and texture to the already natural sweetness of the strawberries. And ice cream rolls wouldn’t be complete without pirouettes. Those things are like dessert crack.
So, you know. If you don’t have any plans to go to Thailand soon, pop in and treat yourself. We all know you’re not going to keep to those New Years resolutions anyway.

Eh came here after experiencing the magic of 10 below and this place is far from unique or special. The service was whatever and the flavors are not great. I tried the Thai iced tea and the strawberry cheesecake. The Thai iced tea is weird and they put too much condensed milk on top and it becomes weird. The strawberry cheesecake doesn’t taste like it and is made from frozen strawberries in some syrup. Seriously people do yourself a favor and go to 10 below. You may have a wait there but it’s worth it for the show and the fresh ingredients.

Finally get to try this place. The interior decoration is so clean. The left wall has wood panel from floor to ceiling and extend to part of the ceiling. The display case shows different flavor of ice cream they have.
I had the coconut flavor and Thai tea flavor. Both are really good ! The coconut flavor is not too strong, tho it has peanut in it and you can get it without the peanut if you are allergic to nuts. They also add coconut flake on top to enhance the flavor.
I like Thai tea flavor just a little bit better because it has a stronger taste like I’m drinking Thai tea. They also use real lychee fruit with the Thai tea ice cream, which is perfect to balance the milky taste from Thai tea
The ice cream is really good. But the most I like about ICENY is that you get to see your ice cream getting made in front of you.
Definitely try this place when you’re in NY ! And it’s just right next to Washington square park

I really enjoyed my matcha rolled ice cream and got to try my brother’s thai iced tea rolled ice cream. Both were amazing and must tries. The texture of the ice cream was perfect. Cold at first but then silky smooth. The flavor is great.
When we went around 9 pm at night there was no wait but after we played our orders a large group of people came.
There is a considerable amount of time between placing and receiving the order since each single serving has to be made to order.
Worth the wait though.
There is limited seating inside.

Thai style ice cream! I’m so glad that they brought this style ice cream to America! I’ve been dying to come here ever since I found out about this place.
The service is good & people working there really take the time to smash your ice cream and making it look presentable! It is a little pricey, but I think it’s definitely worth it! There is about 3 tables inside this place probably seats about 6 people, and that is why I have to remove a star. People would have to fight for a table, or you would have to stand and eat!

It comes with vanilla ice cream, real strawberries, pocky, and instead of strawberry sauce that it usually comes with I decided to put condensed milk instead.
Everything complimented each other really well. & it was perfect for my sweet tooth craving! Although, it’s a little pricey (I paid around $ 7 – 9) it comes with a lot. The rolling ice cream only comes in a large cup btw. It’s also really cool to look at how they make it.
I was also able to try the green tea & Thai tea. both were really good as well! It tasted real & not artificial.
Customer service was good. No complaints about it. She answered any questions I had & was able to substitute whatever I didn’t want.

It was Christmas eve and we needed to kill time while waiting for dinner. So why not have dessert before dinner? This is so my style.
This is so cool!!! I loved watching them make the ice cream rolls. I was skeptical half way through the process but you just have to be patient and wait until they are finished. It looks so yummy! I ordered the Matcha mania: green tea ice cream, oreo mixer, mochi and red bean topping with condensed milk drizzle. I loved it. I love green tea so it’s hard to disappoint. It was very refreshing and it didn’t melt as fast as the lychee gelato. The lychee gelato, well, it tasted like lychee. The thai iced tea option was equally as good. All flavors were accurate and on par with my expectations. There’s limited seating but I suggest sitting in to eat it because you get to see all the happy faces around you! I love that adults are crazy for ice cream like kids!

This was pretty good, even for a cold night. Ice cream rolls make me feel like I’m eating less ice cream so I can eat more rolls!
There’s no loooong lines that go out the door. The large size is pretty big and shareable amongst 2 – 3 people. I got the thai ice cream ice cream with rambutan, mangos, condensed milk and chocolate wafer sticks. It was mmm goood. You can watch them make your ice cream on the cold plate.

I was happy to try these novel Thai ice cream rolls. I can’t say that it is better than normal ice cream though. Although, I respect the amount of work they put into each order.
First, the liquid is poured onto the anti-​griddle /​freezer plate. Then they dice up the ice cream mixings until it forms a cold solid. Then they roll it up and place the rolls into the ice cream cup.
Thai Iced Tea & Rambutan Topped with Mochi & Condensed Milk
I enjoyed the Thai iced tea flavor. The rambutan is chopped up and embedded into the ice cream. I couldn’t really taste the condensed milk that was poured on top. I did see one of my ice cream rolls break during the rolling process. The ice cream artist delicately reshaped it and put it into the cup.
The ice cream was not bad. Plus there was no line. Just a slight wait, since there were only two ice cream stations. Each order takes quite a bit of work. It is rather interesting to watch. Some people film the creation process, myself included. So you get dessert & a little entertainment. The price ($ 5-​$ 7) is still too high for me to be a repeat customer.

After visiting Snowdays in Flushing, I was eager to try this very popular spot on MacDougal Street. It took me a few months to get there and after a spicy bowl of Ramen, shaved cream seemed like a perfect choice. There is a definite art to working and then rolling the frozen cream. The end product is very eye catching. But the taste has a lot to be desired and I much prefer the custard like approach of Snowdays. My vanilla with coconut flakes turned rolls had no taste and I felt like there was not enough topping or drizzle to accent the tasteless product. And it’s not cheap… At 6.43 plus tax I expected more pizzazz.
I was happy to finally get there to try it and the girls did a nice job but I wouldn’t return or recommend it to anyone.

I made my own ice cream roll, which was Thai ice cream with lychee mixer and mochi topping with condensed milk drizzle and whipped cream ($ 6 total). I really liked it, it was full of flavor and full of toppings. You taste the thai flavor and then the lychee chunks, they were also a lot of them too!
My friend also got a Thai ice cream roll with fruit loops mixer and it was good too, really crunchy and you taste a little bit of the fruit loops.

One of the hottest dessert trends this year seems to be the Thai-​style ice cream rolls. This dessert has debuted in three different shops throughout NYC: Juicy Spot, 10 Below, & I-​CE NY. The owners of I-​CE NY are supposedly the creators of the original hand-​rolled ice cream in Thailand, aka ‘I-​TIM-​PAD’. With over 250 franchised locations throughout Thailand, I decided to give this place a try and experience the originality of rolled ice cream.
The process was entertaining to the eye. Workers will pour your ice cream base and mix-​ins onto a cold plate, mixing and smashing until it starts to freeze. As the ice cream firms up, it’s spread like a crêpe and metal paddles are used to roll up the ice cream. Lastly, it gets topped off with sweets and fresh fruit.
For about $ 6, I ordered myself the Thai iced-​tea base mixed in with lychee, topped off with rambutan, chocolate wafers, and drizzled with condensed milk. The texture of this ice cream is firmer than your usual sundae cone. I was pleasantly surprised of how well infused the lychee was with the Thai iced-​tea flavor. Meanwhile, the rambutan topping complemented perfectly with the concoction. I absolutely love Thai iced-​tea so I would highly recommend this option if you do too. The flavor was definitely there and distinctive!

First time having Thai-​styled ice cream after watching the videos online. We got one of the special combos: Matcha Mania, which the cashier said is one of the most popular ones recently. $ 7
Only one person can do the rolling at one time so I was surprised that the wait wasn’t that long. Definitely cool in person but not worth going out of the way to buy just the ice cream!
Matcha Mania: green tea ice cream with Oreo bites inside and red bean, tapioca balls, and whipped cream on top. Delicious and creamy. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Limited seating though :(

Thai ice cream without the crazy wait! Although granted… I did come here at 6PM on a Wednesday during winter.
This was my first time trying Thai rolled ice cream and although I think I prefer my classic gelato over this, it was still a really neat experience. You get to choose your base flavor, a mix-​in, a topping, and a syrup, after which they make your creation in front of you! The process takes a while so I can see how the long lines form.
Anyway, I was quite pleased with my creation in the end (green tea, lychee, jelly, and condensed milk) since the flavors all came together really nicely. I’d like to try the Thai iced tea base next time since I’ve heard good things about that. My friend got Vanilla, which we felt like was only alright so I’d probably shy away from that…

I truly liked this special treat idea. You pick a topping to mix with the cream, they freeze it, and you top it with some more stuff. It’s a ice cream version of red mango but with more physical effort.
I’ve seen this on the web once upon a time and since then always wanted to try it. Little behold, they have a shop on good ol’ Macdougal.
I like the experience and the first few bites of the creation. What I didn’t like is that within a few minutes the ice cream fuses and is no longer in its rolled up version. Second thing I didn’t enjoy was that after a few bites, it didn’t matter anymore because it was so darn heavy. I truly enjoyed it for show and the first few bites, but it didn’t sit right with me and I ended up throwing out 75% of it.
Do it with a friend or a spouse to share, no more. Worth a small try. Thanks guys

Wanted to jump on the ice cream fad that has been going on lately and our first stop was I CE NY. The designs were beautifully constructed. I’m going to try more places before winter hits!
Matcha ice cream. Personally, this was my favorite of the two. It reminded me of Green Tea Kit Kats I used to get. I wasn’t a huge fan of the red bean paste that comes with it though. But the ice cream rolls itself were absolutely delicious!
Thai Ice Tea ice cream — It’s a lot creamier and milkier than I thought it would be. I felt like the milk taste took away from the true flavor of Thai Ice Tea, but nonetheless, still pretty good.

3.5−4 stars. Mmm second time trying Thai rolled ice cream, which I realized is pretty hard to mess up. Generally really like this style of ice cream as it allows extra bits like smashed lychee to be mixed in, which really gives the ice cream a unique taste. I definitely like Juicy Spot Café better. I CE is a little too creamy for me. I like the distinct, light taste of rolled ice cream and this to me is more like regular ice cream rolled up rather than true rolled ice cream. Thought it could have used a bit more smashing.
Still very good though! They also have weekday happy hour discounts, which is nice. There are a few seats but overall not a lot of space. Glad I finally got to try his place!
