Hampton Inn Manhattan Times Square North

I loved my stay here! I was worried about hearing the street noise but the sounds were barely heard from my room. I had some of the best sleep I have ever had here!

Our room doorlock broke and locked us in for almost 40 minutes, after the hotel staff helped us we ask for the manager but was nowhere to help.

Extremely upset with this hotel. My family and I came back from a day of sightseeing to find none of our 4 room keys working. The concierge had no way to open our room in the middle of the night. No spare key. No emergency key. Not even a cleaning room key to open our room. How does that even happen??? We were told that we would have another room ready for us to sleep in tonight due to the inconvenience-it’s been over an hour and my entire family is sleeping in the lobby due to their «inconvenience”-only to find out that the hotel is SOLD OUT for the night thanks to a sign on their front desk that they thought we wouldn’t see. They were literally planning to have us stay in the lobby all night without telling us that our rooms weren’t ready! To make matters worse, my family and I leave tomorrow at 8am to the airport and all of our belongings are in the locked room. We were told that «they think» that the locksmith will be here before we are suppose to leave so that we can retrieve our belongings. I have never been so upset in my life with this type of service. Definitely do not recommend anyone stay here. When mistakes happen on their behalf, they are not quick to fix and you are stuck lounging around in the lobby (in the middle of the night especially) while they continue running their business.
3:07 am– So it’s been exactly an hour since my above post and nothing has changed. Our room has not been opened and they BARELY attempted to contact the lock smith– ONLY because we stood right in front of the front desk demanding answers. They left the lock smith a voicemail to try to come in at 6am. We still have not been given another room and are still sleeping in the lobby. We leave in 5 hours to the airport by the way.

This property doesn’t look like much on outside, but don’t allow it to fool you. The property has a pleasant typical Hampton Inn atmosphere on inside.
We had an enjoyable stay here. The location is perfect and easy walk to mid-​town attractions. It’s located in the vibrant Hells Kitchen neighborhood which has been greatly gentrified in the last 5 to 10 years.
The staff here was friendly and accommodating from check-​in to check-​out. Everyone had a can-​do attitude. Our iron was defective and within 2 minutes a new replacement was delivered to room.
This property had the usual high standards of Hampton Inn that I expect.
The room was clean, smelled fresh and was spacious by NYC standards. The bathroom was tight, but no worse than most other non-​suite accommodations bathrooms in NYC hotels. The beds were comfortable. The noise level from street was virtually non-​existent from the 10^th floor. So, it’s best to request a higher floor for lower street noise levels.
The only quibble about this property is the breakfast, which is basically like a zoo if you arrive after 7am. It seems the staff can’t keep food replenished fast enough due to large crowds. So, it can be tedious trying to get food due to long lines and not being replenished fast enough. Plan on going early if you want to have a civilized breakfast. Also, elevator service is slow during busy times, but this is common with many hotels and not a major detraction.
Overall, this property is a good value, great staff, comfortable, clean accommodations and good location. You can’t go wrong choosing this Hampton Inn.

Nice hotel. Great location, convenient to the E subway line. The rooms decent size and fairly updated. The bathroom is small and the space is tight. The breakfast food is not the best and the selection is very limited. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional, with the exception of the bellman. He didn’t seem too happy with any tip given to him just to retrieve a piece of luggage 10 feet away. He snickered over the tip with another friend of his that was just loitering around. He came across as ungrateful and greedy in my opinion.

We were pretty grossed out while staying here and happy it was only for 1 night before heading to the Tryp. Serves use right, I guess, for trying to get into the city a little earlier so we could sleep the night before and be well rested for the event we were attending.
Upon arrival the parking clerks were extremely rude and abrupt and tried to overcharge us. Finally, I said with my homegrown NY attitude «We’re staying HERE at the hotel for the night!» Not sure how they can work there and speak to people the way they do. But it’s NY, I guess (not saying that as a tourist, I grew up there). Check-​in went very smoothly but we were still a little bothered by the parking clerk experience. There were a bunch of teens celebrating prom… Ahhhh to be young with raging hormones again. We opted for the second elevator to ride up to our room in silence and grateful we didn’t share the same floor as them (overheard their room number while they were waiting for the elevator)
Now, as a visual person I completely understand and support the whole «pics or it didn’t happen» motto. But unfortunately, both our batteries were dead and the car charger I purchased from CVS was garbage. Upon entering the room it was obvious people were hanging out in there. Aside from the cups on the table, the bedding didn’t look ‘right’. We were grossed out and contacted the front desk immediately and the manager came upstairs with someone and removed the trash then told us he would change our room. Jason, at this time, plugged in his phone and we sat on the desk and chair, waiting for them to come back and let us know our new room. Remember those loud and horny teenagers I mentioned? Guess who we got to share a floor with! YAY! Not.
While settling into our new room the bf discovered he left his charger in the other room. When we contacted the front desk they said they would send someone to the room to look for it. Surprise, surprise: it was no where to be found. Possibly bcz no one looked. But whatever. I still had mine and we have the same model phone so it wasn’t a big deal.
Showering was sooooooo much fun. I loved the hair on the wall. And there’s no way long straight blonde hair is mine. So gross. Needless to say we were happy when it was time to check out the next morning. Upon check out while settling the bill and parking the woman at the front desk said we had a balance for the parking (This was a mistake on my part bcz I thought I purchased the package that included parking) but after double checking the email I discovered I hadn’t. By now, Jason had enough because she was being unpleasant and brought up the poor experience and first dirty room, so she took half off our bill which ended up covering the parking.
We’ll never go back and certainly don’t recommend it. However, we do appreciate the semi-​comp for the inconvenience which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1.

I have to say that this Hampton Inn exceeds all my hotel expectations. I stay to this particular Hampton Inn every time we visit NYC. The reasons why are because:
LOCATION!LOCATION!LOCATION! Next to Time Square but not next to the jammed up part of Time Square. Really close to everything! I find myself staying next to everything at the tip of my toes. I really love that it’s not far from Central Park and we found a lot of great places to get lunch as we were on our way there.
Checking In Process was always quick and easy. Love that I actually don’t have to wait and have a stressful check in. They are always prepared to make it convenient for you and they even have a bellman to help you bring up your bags if that’s what you prefer. (Just make sure you have a few bucks to tip the guy as its NYC and it’s all about the hustle & bustle &tip).
Rooms are always clean and Spacious! Not like other rooms you would stay at for a lot more of an expensive price tag. Feels like your paying a lot more then you are with the space your staying in and also the fact everything is so clean. So comfortable after a long day of walking and exploring the city.
Breakfast in the morning is included and depending if your were up all night partying in NYC you may just walk in and eat a hot meal before you go to bed. Or a hot meal to start your day. Many different options to choose from. It’s not going to be 5 star dining but it’s a free breakfast that comes with your hotel stay!
Satisfaction is a guarantee and have to say I’m always satisfied here!

We had 3 Broadway shows booked and this was a perfect location. The rooms, while a little dated, are larger than places like the Row and we liked that. Goodness, breakfast is included and I did not expect fancy; there was fruit, yogurt, pancakes, etc. I thought perfect –especially for a family. I commend those in charge of the breakfast room, they were constantly on the move refilling. It was better to go down before 8 because a really long line begins then, but, goodness, breakfast is included so that’s expected. I also appreciate that although they make coffee very available, they also have the make your own 1 cup in the room. I like 2 cups, then shower and start my day and breakfast. The kids could sleep and I could sit in the room and enjoy coffee. Staff was very friendly. I appreciated that the cleaning staff is not out in the halls too early which adds to the quietness.
They do store your luggage for you. Checkout is at noon and we were not scheduled to leave until 11 pm. The bellman put tags on and took our luggage to storage, of course, we tipped him, but that was still less expensive and we felt safer than some of the storage places. Besides, we were seeing another show so after it, we easily got our luggage at the hotel and were on our way.
We love to visit New York and we will book this hotel again.

Stayed at the Hampton maid for a funeral I attended in the area. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. They permitted me to check in early to accommodate the viewing hours. Something I truly appreciated.
The breakfast I had in their restaurant was excellent. If there was a coffeemaker in the room I would have given them 5 stars.

Let me start by saying that I love the Hilton brand of hotels. After reading the reviews, I decided to stay here. Its midtown location makes it ideal for Broadway shows or visits to Time Square. My experience though was one of the worst of any Hampton. We requested early checkin (not guaranteed) and when we arrived the very rude front desk attendant advised they do not accommodate the offering. She then pointed us towards the baggage desk so that we could leave our bags. This area was not identified with signage and was not staffed. After being directed by the concierge we found the right place to wait. Five minutes, ten minutes and still unstaffed. I went back to the front desk where at least six staff members were grouped. The rude woman told me I will have to wait at the desk. Fifteen minutes, twenty minutes and finally an attendant showed up. He told us to leave our bags and gave us our claim tickets. We sat in the lobby to plan our day. All the while our bags were left unattended as he walked away to help someone else. Ten minutes later he took our bags through a secure door. We came back at 4 and our room was ready. The room was small and very warm. The bathroom floor had hair on it and the bedding had stains. The windows were greasy and dirty as if a kid had wiped his hands all over it. Water pressure was not very good. We attempted breakfast on the second day but it was lacking. The selection was far smaller than other Hampton’s and the place was a zoo. Not enough seating which led to us eating in the lobby. Thinking it was a fluke we tried again — awful!!! Spend a few dollars and go down the street.
The only bright spots — free wireless and discounted parking. But this hotel is all about location. Other than that it would get two stars.

I was a little wary of booking here because from the outside, it doesn’t look amazing, but the price was right (or as right as it can get in Manhattan… hotels are EXPENSIVE.) I was so pleasantly surprised when we walked through the doors! It was lovely, clean, quiet, and perfect for a family. It’s not the Ritz, but you’re not paying for the Ritz.
The breakfast is included, and they did a great job of offering lots of options. Not haute cuisine, but definitely good, filling, and allowed us to cut out lunch because we ate a lot. For those with kids, it’s definitely worth it.
I disagree with the comment about customer service. Everyone with whom we interacted was friendly, kind, and went out of their way to help us, from the concierge to the guy working in the breakfast room (Justin) who very kindly went to the kitchen and cooked up a few sausage patties because my son loved them so much. He was busy, but made the time. That was true of everyone we encountered.
As to location, you can’t get better. It’s within blocks of all the theaters, Times Square, subway stations, restaurants, and even Central Park if you’re up for a bit of a walk. MOMA is a few blocks away, as is Carnegie Hall. It was just perfectly located for all the things we wanted to do. It’s not right ON Times Square, which is a definitely plus since that place is a zoo. It’s a couple of blocks away and that is a blessing.

The hotel is nice and comfortable. Perfect for the someone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
The breakfast is pretty disgusting but it’s free?
As for the customer service, it’s complete garbage. When making my reservation, I was hung up on by Sonya (Sonja?). I called back and her response was «Well I couldn’t hear you so I hung up» and was said with a ‘well that ain’t my problem’ kind of attitude. Not sure what you have going on at home, but please pull your head out from under you. Having worked in hospitality for 10+ years myself, I understand it gets crazy, people get annoying, days get crappy, but never have I ever allowed that to affect the customer.
Here’s the kicker: I work for a company that does business with this hotel multiple times a year. We probably give you a decent amount of your revenue. From this impression alone, we have decided to go with Marriott for all of our business needs.
To management, I suggest you upgrade your workers, or give classes on how to speak to customers. It’s a shame considering we really did enjoy the hotel itself. But with the amount of complaints that came back in regards to the customers, it’s just not worth it.

This hotel was decently reviewed, priced and a perfect location for our visit so we decided to stay here. It was only a couple of blocks away from Time Square, restaurants and transportation. This hotel is also part of

The receptionist staff here were awesome and helpful. The served breakfast was well stocked and better hours (7a-​10a). The breakfast area is huge to accommodate the many guests they have. It’s a busy hotel. I did notice that anyone can eat here as they don’t seem to monitor the area. They do have 24 hour coffee, tea and hot coco for your stay. It was perfect after a cold day walking around.
The room were decent and clean but needs a little updating. The beds and pillows were too soft for me but the sheets were clean and soft. No bed bugs found! ;-) The rooms did not smell and their wifi works. The bathroom was decent and well stocked with clean towels. Since they didn’t have a air vent, when using the shower, the mirror fogs up; also, causing the wall paper to come off. They need to fix that. My only grip here was the shower head. It needs cleaning and I tried to clean it the best I could before using it. The shower head is not made for tall folks but the head can be easily removed to move freely.
I would stay here again due to the accommodation for a decent stay…

Rooms are pretty small but considering that you are in the heart of NYC, it’s expected. Rooms are clean, good wifi, maid service is on time and they do a good job. Nothing much to complain about. This is your classic Hampton Inn type hotel. The breakfasts isn’t very good but to be honest, you can’t really expect free 5 star gourmet breakfasts at a Hampton Inn. Location is fantastic to get around. Everything is within walking distance.
Bottom line: I would come back here.

Your typical Hampton Inn in terms of amenities. The service was refreshingly above average and many helpful employees.
The rooms are slightly larger than your average room in NYC. Don’t get me wrong, the rooms are still small.
«Location is perfect». That depends on your definition. I had to stay in the area for work but if I were to ever go to NYC on holiday, Times Square is the last place I want to stay. It’s tourist hell.
The breakfast is pretty disgusting but they do have yogurt and decent coffee. Might be better to go down the street and pay extra for decent breakfast. They should not be calling their food «breakfast».

With reservations at Tavern on the Green, night clubbing and a urge to visit Coney Island, we found it necessary to reserve a Hotel room. I chose the Hampton Inn Manhattan because of its proximity to all of the fun places we had planned.
For the money, the rooms are nicely-​designed, with all of the amenities one would expect for a $ 340 room. The only issue I had was with the shower. The stopper was broken to the point that the tub tried to fill up as I took a shower. The lever that opens and closes the stopper didn’t work, so it was necessary for me to physically pull the stopper out of the tub. I’m not sure if I broke it, or it was broken before we even occupied the room.
The room itself was spacious and clean. It had a mini-​fridge (unstocked), safe, Keurig pod coffee maker and a microwave oven. The view wasn’t anything spectacular, but we didn’t state our preference when we booked it. The bathroom was well-​stocked with toiletries, soaps and an abundance of towels and washcloths.
I will have to say, the hotel management literally went out of their way to ensure that I had an enjoyable stay. We had a free breakfast and took advantage of the concierge services as well. We were also able to arrange for both early and late checkout.
The next time we’re in the Broadway area, Hampton Inn it is!

I would have given more stars but the staff left me hanging to fight for a cab on my own with my luggage to get to my next location. I found this tainted my experience which was really great till that point.
Free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate 24 hours a day. Great location to anything and everything in NYC. Front desk staff very nice. It’s the other staff that left me hanging.

Rating on location is 5! However, the hotel itself is a 3; hence the 4 rating.
The hotel is walking distance to Broadway, Central Park, Times Square, and all the other attractions on this side of town. It’s also near multiple subway lines and a 24 hr Rite Aid.
Pros: Service is friendly and accommodating. Be sure to sign up for the rewards club. It gets you points and free waters! Place has free breakfast. Bf and I woke up everyday (4 days) to take advantage, but it wasn’t that great.
Downside: the bathroom! Ours smelled musty (ended up buying air freshener spray); no air vent; and the antique blow dryer broke (but it was replaced fairly quickly with what would’ve been considered «modern» one a decade ago).

I don’t get why so many believe this place deserves 4 or 5 stars — okay it’s not as expensive as similar hotels in NYC (still not cheap either), but that’s pretty much it. I’d give it a maximum 2.5 but Unilocal doesn’t allow halves. Just want to be realistic:
The pluses are: it’s very close to theatre land, very close to the subway station & to Times Square, oh and it’s rooms are reasonable size. So great location :-)
The not so positive — breakfast is madness in the morning: people queuing for pretty standard fare (which as it’s included in the room charge, may be regarded as a plus by many) — we stayed 6 nights & the only morning we «had» breakfast in the hotel was the very first morning as it was our first trip to NYC, after that we went to a different local deli/​café every morning (and there are many) where we felt we actually had a breakfast with good coffee (espressos even) without being crammed in a room nor feeling like we were part of a cattle market. The hallways are dark and depressing from the colour of the carpet to the walls — could do with a real brightening up. The duvet covers are lumpy and past their sell by date.
I have stayed in a few other Hampton Inns in the US and this one is the least inviting.
By the way the photos available on Unilocal seem professionally done and give a brighter impression than the reality.

This hotel is an excellent value for the location and price. My room was large and clean, the staff was very friendly, and had a recommended car service that took us back in a comfy SUV to LGA for only $ 45.
The breakfast was good and definitely clean and tasty. They offer free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate ²⁴⁄₇.
When I mentioned to the front desk person Jonathan he was nice enough to put us on the highest floor and had a lovely gift bag filled with candy, a t-​shirt, and I love NY mug. It made my son’s birthday trip extra special. I would definitely stay here again since it was close to time square and many other tourist locations

Naja, es lebt von der Lage! Die ist natürlich Top, mitten in Midtown Manhattan. Die Zimmer sind amerikanischer Standard, nichts besonderes. Insbesondere das Bett m.M. unter Durchschnitt, eine Mini-​Bar gab es auch nicht. Frühstück war inklusive, jedoch war morgens ein solcher Ansturm auf das kleine Buffet, das es echt kein Spaß machte. WLAN und Kaffee gratis rund um die Uhr entschädigt jedoch für einiges. Personal war auch nett. Hoher Preis, für das gleiche Geld gibt es in NY auch bessere Hotels, die waren aber ausgebucht (z.B. das Sheraton eine Ave weiter). Insgesamt also gute drei Sterne für ein 3 Sterne Hotel.
