History
Established in 1980.
Originally opened as the Commodore Hotel in 1919, this hotel has been lauded for its grandeur since its beginning. Through troubled financial times in the 1970s and new ownership, Hyatt Corporation took over and ultimately transformed the old Commodore Hotel into the modern day Grand Hyatt New York, opening its doors in 1980.
In 2011, Grand Hyatt New York completed an extensive $ 130 million top-to-bottom renovation including redesigned guest rooms and suites, a new restaurant, a transformed lobby and mezzanine, multiple event and meeting spaces and a revitalized ballroom.
