FANTASTIC! Great music! Great performance! The best musical I’ve ever seen! Very true to the original, without all the «modern» «new age» interpretations. Just good old school musical. Loved it!

Performance could’ve been a bit better.
Seats are not comfortable. After sitting there for an hour and a half, I was ready to leave.
The show is close to three hours long.
I can’t compare this show to the previous years. My wife said this show is not as good as the original. (This is the third time she saw it, and all three had changed over the years)
«On the other hand» if you haven’t seen the previous show, you’re in good hands.

Due to the timelessness of this piece and the songbook, I feel like this is a show that the cast, crew and backers would have to actively try to screw up. I am only removing one star because I saw it during previews and seeing the actual stagehands moving around the bare bone stage really blew the whole this-​is-​a-​sad-​poor-​primarily Jewish– town-​in-​Russia-​in-​the-​early-​20^th-​century vibe.
I will say that when I think of the plot of this musical, I am often moved to sadness but the entire tone of the show left me with a sense of hope that there would be a better tomorrow. Otherwise, the songs were voiced with aplomb and they were not wholly or even partially derivative of the performances in the 1970 movie adaptation (this was important to me because I love musicals in both mediums).
I saw Danny Burstein (he portrays Tevye, the father of five initially unwed daughters and a struggling milkman in Anatevka) in «Cabaret» a few years ago and in that as in this, he was brilliant. The dancing, his range, his physicality and even the whimsical outlook he had on an increasingly brutal life, in an already unwelcoming land were all teeming with life. Even though the rest of the cast were more than equipped both acting and singing-​wise, even as the main protagonist, he was the clear standout in a more than minimally talented cast.
Separate from the well-​known songs and the overarching themes of tradition, arranged marriages, love matches, staunch religious devotion, revolution and family, the all-​male dancing during the wedding in the first Act was unbelievable and stood with me months after initially seeing this show. To say that seeing grown men dance in unison with unsupported bottles on their heads is amazing is a vast understatement.
Overall, the entire dance sequence during the eldest daughter’s wedding conveyed a sense of joy, new beginnings and hope that reverberated throughout the play even as it was slowly chipped away by history. Let me stress that I bought tickets for this play months in advance of its opening for fear that it would sell out damn nigh immediately. I was pleasantly surprised at how happy the story made me despite the crippling circumstances, harsh terrain and brutal choices foisted upon the Anatevkans and their under attack way of life.

Amazing performance with brilliant cast and beautiful decorations ! It definitely makes you laugh and get to know the life of the jewish people in the Czar Russia. Danny Burstein (Tevye) definitely made us laugh during the show! Highly recommend to everybody!

I had so much fun watching this show. Great dancing, music, storyline. What more can you want.

GREAT show!
The cast, songs, sets… everything was wonderful. The guy who played the main role was superb! Not a dry eye in the theater during Sunrise Sunset. And while the story is set in a time 100 years back, so many emotions and human relation dynamics are still the same today, so one can relate in many way, no matter what your religion or culture.
Absolutely beautiful. 8 of us went & everyone loved it!

Wow! Fiddler on the Roof, you have completely blown my mind! You made me laugh, and you made me cry. It’s one of the best Broadway shows I have ever seen (and I have seen A LOT)! Love it love it love it!

I was in the way, way back of the mezziane, but it was still an amazing powerful performance. The sets are minimal, but elaborate sets don’t really fit the musical. So if you are looking for beautiful and elaborate sets like Wicked this may not be the musical for you.
All the actors were fantastic.

This is one magnificent revival of a tremendous show. I’d recommend sitting in the front of the rear mezz, or in the front mezz to truly get the full grandeur of this beast, and to really see the actor’s faces, and the excellent work they’re doing.
The subject matter is treated with respect, Bartlett brings out all the humor, while beautifully and honestly executing those heart moving moments.
And Danny Burnstein’s Tevye is divine.
Treat yourself to one glorious evening!

It was such a great show! I laughed so hard the actors were amazing! I would definitely go see it again! Loved it!!!

Great story and well done by this group of actors. The beauty of a classic and important tale has been reserved!
Sets are minimal, but effective. Lots of muted colors with beautiful shocks of blue, orange, or purple. I felt immersed in the experience. From the reactions of the audience, they were also most appreciative. (A standing ovation was given at the end of the performance.)
The play feels more spiritual than the movie. Yet, there are lots of humorous moments as well as very solemn ones. It’s definitely well paced and never gets bogged down; never boring. (Act I is considerably longer than ACT II, so take care of whatever before the show begins.)
Greatest to me were the dancers! Their moves seemed authentic, strong, majestic, traditional and just plain entertaining! The live dancing, singing and THE PAPA! are reasons to see this show. If you love the movie, this play should also entertain and uplift!

Who knew this could be so depressing. From what should have been an upbeat fun story with touches of sadness, this emerges as a depressing, flat production. The actors have no emotion and the staging makes you think it took place in a gulag. The only saving grace is the familiar and fun music. If you want to break your happy mood, definitely buy a ticket.

My sons and I got a surprise holiday gift from my husband!
Lets just say this: I was bawling my eyes out in the first 2 minutes. But — this play has very personal significance for my family.
If I could afford it, I would go again and again and again.
One little request for audience members: STOP WEARING GALLONS OF NOXIOUS PERFUME. LESS IS MORE.

Fiddler on the Roof is a musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in Tsarist Russia in 1905. It is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope both with the strong-​willed actions of his three older daughters-​each one’s choice of husband moves further away from the customs of his faith-​and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.
Amazing show. I recommend to see it. Actors did a great job to describe the hustle they went through Tsarist Russia.

This was a terrific show and it appeared as if everyone in the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. Long line to get in, but since seats are «assigned», it doesn’t really matter.

Ever wonder what it would be like to see Dom DeLuise play Tevye ??? If so — go see this revival. Allen Cummings was more butch in CABERET. Slow show, and peppered with out of character modern mannerisms. Not much changed from the 60’s version. The daughters were channeling: Carrie, Samantha, and Miranda. I think Yenta could have casted this show better.

My wife and I saw this revival on 12÷19÷15 just before it opened. We found this production to be flat and lacking in the emotional power that has been at the core of its strength for over 50 years as a tale shtetl life at the turn of the last century.
Danny Burstein plays Tevye with almost effeminate delivery of his lines and jestures. I think of Tevye as a character quixotically trying to assert his paternal, masculine attributes to preserve his traditional family. Mr. Burstein’s interpretation seems just odd.
None of the characters is a standout in this production — neither in their acting or vocal performances. The ensemble is pleasant to listen to — especially in Sunrise Sunset, and the choreography has it’s moments — as in the wedding dance.
The lighting and sets are bland and strange. A huge rectangular opening down stage for the pit inadvertently separates the audience from the performance. Flying houses — dropping in and lifting out are distracting.
Even the mediocrity of this staging cannot totally obliterate the intrinsic strengths of this musical. If you’re a die-​hard Fiddler fan, you’ll find «something to be joyful for.»

I was surprised at how weak many of the performances were, it’s way too long.
This musical bored and upset me for almost three solid hours.
The first act is very long, 1 hr 45 min, after 90 minutes of viewing this, I wondered if only God could sustain enough interest to keep going.
A long, slow and heavy going play. I watched this play years before and it was much better than this revival. There are more vibrant musicals out there.
This old remake play got back to Broadway, but it was boring, the singers were not good.
It wasn’t the right casting, lots of expectative from the cast.
The story of the daughters was very complicated, the main actor was bland.
We were in the first day of the previews on Friday night. it looked like a sabbath, as jewish, we were excited for this classic, everybody was proud to be there.
Ii heard from other people at the theatre that it was too long.
A terrific disappointment.
For security reason they have to check the bags, it has to be permanent in Broadway Theaters.

First time I’ve seen this show in any form, yet how is it that I knew practically every song?
This was a great show that should definitely be seen. The singing, dancing and acting are all top notch. The first act is a bit too long (1 hour 45 minutes!) but overall a fun time for all.
