I was visiting the city for a few hours and needed my hair colored, washed and blown out before I headed back to DC. This salon was the closest so I decided to go. Teresa helped worked on my hair and she was amazing. The service she provided was phenomenal. The shop was extremely busy but I felt as though I was her only customer. She got me in and out in a hour and a half. Not to mention the price makes me want ro move to NY. I will definitely visit this shop when I am in the city.

Not the nicest people. Horrible service. I called ahead to ask about prices and they couldn’t tell me because there’s a huge language barrier. Sorry, if you’re open for business be open to a variety of people too.

This place is my guilty pleasure! Real review alert!!! Where else can you get a Manny Petty cure extensions and blowout in one place for under $ 200! This place a must-have for every NYC fly girl! I walked out feeling like a new woman in these ladies really know how to get down with no-frills! Here’s the catch though they aren’t exactly friendly, not every one speaks English, and you’ll be waiting for hours if you don’t speak up. You need to speak up to keep the process moving! I’ve walked out in my feeling due to the natural sass that i mistook as rudeness, nevertheless my shinning tresses keep my coming back! My go too when I need a pick me up!

I just moved to the neighborhood and had a difficult time finding a Dominican hair salon to try out — there are so many in this area! I came here based on some other reviews and I’m glad I did. I’ve been here twice already and each time a different woman has done my hair. Both did fabulous jobs and I definitely will be coming back. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because my second visit here, I was left at the dryer for over an hour while she tended to other clients. She also put no heat protectant on my hair. If you do choose to come here, I definitely recommend bringing your own hair products.

Only a couple of the ladies here do hair well. The plus side of this place is that they are open late. The negative side is if no hablo espanol or have a steady hairdresser who looks out for her customers they will treat you like crap. La flaka as they call her is good for skipping other people’s customers for dryers. I only come here because of my hairdresser if she leaves I’m gone. The place is dirty for the most part roaches, flies & ceiling leaks on a regular. If you need to use restroom can’t change your mind in there so you need to ask someone to hold your bag if you have one. The owners are very nice women just need to pay attention to the things their employees do I’m sure they lose a lot of business because of their employees bad business practices. I also can’t blame everything on the employees some of these customers are a cause of a lot of these problems. PS there are always some unruly kids in here belonging to employees & customers If I could just rate my hairdresser Taty she would get 5 stars

Please beware! This place is so unsanitary! Large cockroaches crawling everywhere. I told the owner about it and she actually became belligerent telling me that she has an education and that she has had her business for over 30 years. She told me that this is very common in NYC. Huh!!! I told her that this was good to know but it didn’t help the vermin situation. The super came in and she told me that I should tell him about the issue. Needless to say the owner is a very unprofessional and uneducated woman. She treats her employees like crap. I was told by a few of the employees there that she is well aware of the vermin issue and refuses to do anything about it. The bathroom ceiling caved in and it’s been months and it has not been fixed. Her manicure/pedicure stations are so dirty! I did not see any beauty licenses on the wall. The pedicure tub always looks dirty. The manicurist never cleans up after each client. I will never come back here again.

I have natural hair and this places works miracles! For 21 dollars I got a deep conditioner, roller set, a blow out with a wrap with bobby pins. There was no wait and each person took their time making my hair beautiful.

Not the place it use to be. If you think going there early would help, it won’t they are un organized. I walked out of the place twice bc the wait time is just too long. And right when you think there done they go on another eating break. Don’t bother with this hole in the wall for hair spa. L

I being coming to this place over 15 years, is not the a luxurious place where you coming in by appointments but you will leave happy with your hair style and your wallet. Sometimes there’s a wait for hair dryer but that’s not such a big deal, don’t come to this place if happen to be in a huge rush. Angie(la flaka), she’s the best!!! She even sings to you while doing your hair… That’s a deal right there! Lol. Mecho is in charge of washing and setting your hair for the dryer. Her hands are just magical and soft. Isabel will do your mani and pedi while you dry your hair, she’s really good at what she does. Honestly I really enjoy coming to Fantasy and getting my self get pretty by the hard working beautiful ladies.

Awesome hair spot. Dominicans do it up and gorgeously, no questions asked. I highly recommend this spot.

I found this spot out of necessity — so let me give you the scoop: «Let that hair lay — OK?!» Fantasy hair spa is a no frills environment but they are very efficient and getting through long hair and many clients. A couple of things that are slightly, um– not great: –the towels they use: old and discolored — miscellaneous spots are never cool near your face –the fact that they don’t use a protective cape while doing your hair: not cool — they really should invest in that– I mean are we in a hair salon or nah? Why go then: — they can really lay that hair out — they got the Dominican ‘touch’ -(that and english isn’t the primary language spoken in the shop– just a heads up) –they do a good job and you cant beat the prices — very ‘loyal’ Overall the skills of the stylist outweigh the environment, but if you need your hair done asap and you don’t want to get caught on a weekend in the salon. Would i come back– yea– the location is super convenient and they do good work. Before u judge me for coming to a place with quite a few things that need physical improvement– keep in mind i wont be partying, eating or chilling in the salon(duh) There is a million spots to go to out there, so keep it fresh baby and don’t block up my stylist(lol jk — forreal though).

Best service I’ve received in the city thusfar. I believe Carmen was my stylist. She gave me an inexplicably amazing wash then showed her expertise in my cut and blowout. In addition to being the best service, this place has BYFAR the best price. I was shocked at the number I saw at the end. GREATDEAL. To say she went above and beyond would be an understatement. So glad I walked into this place.(No wait by the way on a Wednesday evening at 6:30) Thank you Carmen!

I have been getting my hair done here since about 2003. It is a great place. Good price that don’t change every time you go. It gets busy on the weekend and around holidays, so come early. I currently go to kathy(4th chair on the left). Believe me when I say she is a god at blow outs, trim/cut, and the best relaxer I have ever had. But everyone is pretty good in that salon and they use good hair products.

I have been coming here for 30 years– the service is not as it used to be but the price is right. Be prepare to wait. The waiting time is extremely long. I have waited about 4 hours for a wash/set. When the owners is not around the girls will play(chit chat among each other). The price for wash/set is a $ 20. Although they have about 10 dryers: some don’t work. Not the place for mani/pedi. I must be a masochist because I keep coming back and all the way from Westchester.

This is a wonderful place. I got my hair done in a very quick time, the lady who did my hair, Angela, did it so well that it lasted for such a long time. I’ve been going for three years and I’m still very pleased. Very cheap and great quality. Recommend it to anybody!

This is a no frills place that gets busy! Carmen gave me a beautiful blowdry. :) I highly suggest that you bring your favorite shampoo and conditioner. The price was right $ 26.00

DONOTGET A MANIORPEDIHERE! STAYAWAY, YOU’VEBEENWARNED. The first time that I visited this so-called spa, I decided to get just a french-pedicure. While cutting my cuticles she actually cut my skin and I was bleeding and so she was unable to continue with the nail polish application. She had to wait until it stopped bleeding and never did she ask if I was okay or even apologize. WOW– thanks for caring. I came back over a year later to get a manicure and OMG – worse decision of my life. I had to wait for the spanish lady to stop talking to her friend so she could do my nails. This spa doesn’t really have a selection of nail polishes and it seemed to me that it is up to the technician to bring her own nail polishes — which was very limited. She went ahead and cut my nails– I think a 5 year could have clipped my nail s better than she did. Then she applied the polish and what else could I expect but terrible application. Once again, a 5 year old could’ve painted my nails better than she did. I went home and took the nail polish and was completely disappointed with the service here. I can’t say anything about their other services but a man-pedi at this place is no-no.

Every time I venture out of my comfort zone and try a new salon, I am severely disappointed and come crawling right back. Six years and counting!
